WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Almost weight twins @Gonnagetgoing (probably a little over on account of weekend). Although I bet that's your starting weight though?!!

I started at 13 2, and got to 11 2 now about 11 4. On the grand scheme of things that's OK to have maintained for 3-months. But I do want to get to 10 stone something, or sub 70kg, and def into the Healthy BMI not overweight.

I found an amazing gin substitute last night - ginger cordial with fizzy water. OMG had the sharp taste hit. So that's one less distraction.

Did 5km run 1st thing - super speedy for me, quite chuffed !!

Hope everyone else doing well with food choices today, and getting some calories burned with walking, rowing, or just being marvellous! < and big squeeze your way @SunshineCake1>

Crazzzycat · 29/03/2022 11:36

Morning all! Yesterday didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. I’m still eating too much, but today is another day and another chance to try again.

My crazy rowing challenge starts on Friday. I want to try and get at least on more long row in before that, if only to toughen up my hands! 😂

Hugs to you @SunshineCake1. I know it won’t make much of a difference, but I’m sure we’re all thinking of you.

SunshineCake1 · 29/03/2022 11:53

Thank you so much @SanFranBear and for saying dh is a lovely man. He really is. We have been together for 26 years and have been through some really really tough times, divorce was being discussed, but I, so grateful we had enough love to keep trying for each other, our marriage and our children. How we would deal with this if we were divorced I have no idea.

We did go to the different place and it was so cold but seeing SunshineDog having the loveliest time really gave us joy. We spent most of the time talking about dd and the situation but at least we did get out. Enjoy your meal! We are having tea from the chop shop van tonight. Dh and I haven't eaten more than two proper meals since Thursday and with DS1 coming home we thought why not. Just trying to get something in DH Sad.

@Gonnagetgoing we have no idea who DD is with. All we know is she spent Thursday night in a random person's house Sad.

Hurray for cheese! Much better than fruit pastilles. Well done.

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee and @Crazzzycat for the squeezes and hugs. They make ALL the difference knowing I have people thinking about us. Thank you all Flowers.

@buzzofthebumblebee - my starting weight was actually 11 stone but this was probably Christmas last year when I lost weight.

I've been the typical Corona stone person - think I've gone up half a stone from approx 10 and a half stone to 11 stone. Have really noticed the impact of steps when in work and I'm still WFH.

A 30 minute walk or 15-20 minute run doesn't cut it!

Well that sounds nice re the ginger cordial with fizzy water as a replacement for gun so that's good.

Gonnagetgoing · 29/03/2022 12:14

@SunshineCake1 - this may or may not help you. My DB went to a boarding school for asthmatics when he was a teenager, ended up running away from there with his girlfriend and then staying with her and then leaving home and getting a room in a house with his boss (much older and bi, came onto my DB...). Anyway, he had people around him who loved and cared for him and after a year or so of living away at 16 came back home for about 2-3 years. My DM was frantic with worry, as she would be but I think the most important thing is that you are there for your DD. If she's with someone, great, at least she's in a house/flat with a roof over her head and being fed. I'd let her come to you but you've probably done this already - let her know that whatever she decides to do is fine by you. If she wants to meet up for a dog walk, coffee etc then that's fine.

I did have both the cheese and fruit pastilles so am just going to keep the thought in my head that I didn't appreciate the fruit pastilles!

Had small beetroot and chilli falafel and potato salad (quarter of a pot?) for lunch.

SunshineCake1 · 29/03/2022 13:18

She is hundreds of miles away @Gonnagetgoing Sad. She said she wasn't going to keep in touch and she hasn't. She hasn't read the last text I sent and we haven't heard anything from the police since four ish yesterday afternoon.

SingaporeSlinky · 29/03/2022 14:34

Thank you again @Crazzzycat I nearly missed your advice about the rower resistance. I’ll lower it tomorrow. Didn’t get a chance today, had a spin class and then had to head home to shower before getting my hair cut. I had a good 4 or 5 inches off so I’m hoping it’ll help with tomorrow’s weigh-in 😂

Today’s lunch - strawberries, greek yoghurt and chocolate granola
Dinner will be spaghetti bolognese.

SexiestDogWalker · 29/03/2022 14:45

Went to dr yesterday for something for heavy periods and she weighed me and I weigh 99kg when I was 81 before lockdown 😳😳

So, I drove my son to school but left my car there and walked the mile home. Just about to walk the mile back to get him and my car. Not far, but better than just driving!

Today I've had two boiled eggs for breakfast and for lunch I sliced some cucumber to be "crackers" and had ham and a small amount of coleslaw on them. Have had several coffees, no sugar. I can't have bread and things anyway, coeliac.

I have to shift about 20kg. I hate myself right now.

SunshineCake1 · 29/03/2022 15:07

Don't hate yourself @SexiestDogWalker. You are food you enjoyed and the last two years have been shit for everyone. You made an immediate start once you realised so huge well done.

Crazzzycat · 29/03/2022 15:55

Welcome to the thread @SexiestDogWalker. Negative emotions rarely result in anything positive. So please don’t hate yourself, but be proud of the fact that you’re doing something about it! That’s all that matters 🙂

@SunshineCake1 - oh crikey - that's a long way away. I suppose if she is determined not to keep in touch then she won't. If I were you (and you're probably doing this) keep in touch with her friends, if they will let you do so and just hang on in there. I don't know the reasons why she's run away so can't comment as to why she's done this, but she will probably end up getting back in touch at some point, when she's ready. You can't guarantee that she will stay with the person she's staying with, that they might fall out etc. Keep strong Flowers.

@SexiestDogWalker - welcome to the thread!

You shouldn't hate yourself for weight loss especially as you are dealing with heavy periods!

Driving your son to school and walking the mile at home is a good start.

The one thing I would say is even though you're coeliac can you have

Schar or Amisa or any other gluten free crispbread would be good to have e.g. for breakfast or lunch only because it fills you up a bit.

I did, a few years ago, lose weight by having Bachelors Slim a Soup and oatcakes (in your case gluten free ones) and crudites, so sliced cucumbers, tomatoes etc for lunch adding cottage cheese too and lower calorie breakfast etc. Quite boring but I lost half a stone in about 2 months.

SunshineCake1 · 29/03/2022 17:54

@Gonnagetgoing she's not with friends. She's with people we don't know and actually we don't even know that. The only numbers for friends I have are from years ago and they are here not where she is.

Dh and I doubt she is coming back. Just can't believe it. I know her and this is our life now.

TheRealHousewife · 29/03/2022 22:28

Hi Everyone

A warm welcome to the thread @SexiestDogWalker. Don’t hate yourself. It’s been a very difficult couple of years. Hormones also have an impact on weight loss/gain. I hope you got sorted at the GP! I’m a fellow celiac too. Although I feel it does make some choices easier as we can’t have anything that contains wheat/gluten. Well done on getting on board with making healthier choices. Imagine how you’ll feel this time next week/month if you stick to plan.

Well done to all those who have lost and well done for those who haven’t (or gained) but are carrying on 👍👏 ⭐️ It’s good to remember it’s a journey, not a destination. A way of life.

@SunshineCake1 Thinking of you, your loving husband and your heart broken children. Hope there is some resolution soon ❤️

Might not get to post tomorrow as doing home decorating. I’ll try to concentrate on creating Aprils thread 👍

Thank you @TheRealHousewife. Posts from you and everyone are helping so much. I will be a better contributor as soon as I can be.

Seeing my dh so upset is really distressing me. I wake up and get no time before the feelings all come of shock, disbelief, devastation, heartbreak that she has gone and we can not get our heads around any of it. We have had six nights without her. No messages. She didn't say bye. Just went. Everything has changed. We are living a life of horror.

A friend has invited me for coffee next week and I was going to say no. Then dh pointed out she has known our dd her whole life and we should tell her. My friend was actually the first person to hold dd in hospital that wasn't the medical team or dh and I. He also said we need to tell the rest of the family. I'm not happy that he is getting his mother to do it but we have written down what she is to say. She hasn't texted once to ask how we are and didn't mention dd when we went to see them at the weekend.

I'm not running today. Will try and join in and do WOW.

Keep going everyone. You are all doing really well.

Still thinking of you @Puffilicious and @Graphista. and @fallfallfall. And @Foreverlexicon.

SingaporeSlinky · 30/03/2022 08:10

Weigh On Wednesday

1.5 lbs lost this week

SW 10st 7
CW 9st 3

ImALittlePea · 30/03/2022 08:46

Well, all of my birthday plans have been cancelled as of this morning as DH and 7yo have tested positive for Covid. Thankfully I'm currently negative and they're both well at the moment, so selfishly I'm currently just feeling very sorry for myself for having a third birthday impacted by bloody covid.

Anyway.

Going to try not to let this derail my weight loss efforts. And also, potentially a silver lining in that I will no longer be out socialising all weekend so I won't inadvertently sabotage myself through the inevitably calorific celebrations?

😏

BaconAndAvocado · 30/03/2022 09:01

Well done Slinky and Mexico sounds fabulous!

I’ve not had a great week and won’t be weighing myself until next week which will hopefully be more normal.

Got DS1’s graduation at the weekend which will involve a meal out, breakfast at the hotel and a fair few drinks I would imagine!
Really looking forward to it, it should have been in 2020.

SunshineCake1 · 30/03/2022 10:00

Sorry @Puffalicious. Not with an i.

SunshineCake1 · 30/03/2022 10:01

Sorry to read your update @ImALittlePea. Hope you still have a nice time.

Gonnagetgoing · 30/03/2022 10:06

Still 11 stone 3 lb.

Dinner was Turkish Pilau with garlic bread x 2 and yogurt. I actually felt full yesterday. I had a small baby bel, 2 small cheese slices and then a pack (small of Kallo milk choc rice cakes). Also had a cheese snack a jack - these are actually quite nice snack wise.

Breakfast - blueberries in Oatsosimple with honey.

I leave my toxic job on Friday and I think have a short time where I won't be working so am away next week but hopefully I can get back on track with healthier eating and exercise.

Gonnagetgoing · 30/03/2022 10:10

@SunshineCake1 - ah ok. Well my DB was with people who my mum didn't know - but was near enough to go check on.

I think re telling friends and family and meeting for coffee with your friend is a good idea.

I still think as I said before, keep doors open, non judgmental and give it time and you will hear from your DD. You don't know what she's going through/needs to go through and yes it's worrying for you and your DH and DS but life carries on.

@ImALittlePea - happy birthday and hope you have a good one! Cake

ImALittlePea · 30/03/2022 10:20

Thanks @SunshineCake1 @Gonnagetgoing

I know the most important thing is we stay well. We did three months of shielding at the start of the pandemic so a few days is more than manageable. As I say, just a bit bummed out by it.

I've noticed I'm always more hungry when the family are all home?! Maybe it's because they collectively eat all the food I'm cutting out, and I'm not usually around that as much in the week. Trying very hard not to treat today as I would a Saturday and stay out of the larder 😬

Crazzzycat · 30/03/2022 10:23

My weekend weight gain hasn’t magically disappeared, so I’m still up 2lbs compared to last week.

On a more positive note, I did manage to stick to plan yesterday, so that’s a step in the right direction. I also broke my cross-trainer record for the second time this week and am now 10-15% faster than I was at the start of the month. It’s so weird how you can trundle along for a while and then all of a sudden have a big leap in fitness, or muscle power or whatever 🤔

I bet you’re counting the days until you can leave your toxic job @Gonnagetgoing. Hopefully you’ll be a bit more appreciated in whatever your next job might be.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had to cancel your birthday plans @ImALittlePea. That really sucks. Are you thinking of moving it to another week?

Youdoyoutoday · 30/03/2022 10:30

Thinking of you @SunshineCake1

This morning's weigh in is 14 stones and 0.25lb. Meh, I've been feeling quite rough this week, runny nose, sore throat, run down, not sleeping! So I'm just happy to be maintaining at the moment.
