WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Also still around, but not wanting to 'fess-up to being off-plan for the weekend. Again!. For me, being absent from thread = not doing so well (food or mentally) so I will return to thread when I am back on track and can be positive and contribute good vibes!

You continue to be amazing and supportive @TheRealHousewife - so please don't take it personally. I just don't want to let the side down (which I have been doing).

So yes - def in for April. Am going to lock-in properly for April, starting today ; ) No more sugar or wine. Cut down on carbs again big time. Need to get back on track.

Continued thoughts with you @SunshineCake1

SingaporeSlinky · 28/03/2022 13:13

@BaconAndAvocado I love those lindor balls. But thankfully DH didn’t get me any chocs as he knows I’m on a final push to lose weight, so got me a necklace for holiday from the kids.
Going 2 weeks today!

I’m going to try rowing 5 times a week for the next 2 weeks to see if it helps me tone up a bit. Despite losing weight, I still feel very wobbly around the tummy and arms.

BaconAndAvocado · 28/03/2022 13:53

SingaporeSlinky I've just found out on Nutracheck that they're 81 cals each 😳

2 weeks?! How lovely for you, are you going anywhere hot?

Crazzzycat · 28/03/2022 14:03

81 calories for a Lindt ball?! Time to hide the box I got yesterday 😱

Gonnagetgoing · 28/03/2022 14:19

So I had Sainsburys fresh Lentil Dhaal soup - 340 calories I think for the whole tub but with 1 plain ryvita and not much else.

I think I have a sore throat or allergies which is making me less hungry.

SingaporeSlinky · 28/03/2022 14:34

Bacon we’re off to Mexico!

Crazzzycat · 28/03/2022 15:44

@SingaporeSlinky, this is none of my business, but...if I had two weeks to firm up, I’d forget about the cross-trainer and just row. I love my cross-trainer - it’s great for burning calories, building fitness and developing impressive leg muscles - but it’s impact on firming up my arms & upper body has been minimal.

I’ve been doing this 20 minute rowing workout (until I decided to start trying stupidly long distances!). It’s really good for beginners, lots of variation, plus breaks!

5 minutes of rowing at 20 strokes per minute, 1 minute rest
4 minutes of rowing at 22 strokes per minute, 1 minute rest
3 minutes of rowing at 24 strokes per minute, 1 minute rest
2 minutes of rowing at 26 strokes per minute, 1 minute rest
1 minute of rowing at 28 strokes per minute, and you’re done!

SingaporeSlinky · 28/03/2022 15:50

Ooh thank you @Crazzzycat that’s really helpful!

Tomorrow is spin class, so the cardio and fat burning element can come from that, I’ll use your suggestion and spend my extra time afterwards just rowing then. I think the gym has the Concept 2 machine and I set resistance to 7. Is that about right?

buzzofthebumblebee · 28/03/2022 16:12

81 calories each? (I ate the whole box I got for mothers day except 4 .... so I saved myself 324 calories) OMG

Sounds like an amazing holiday Singapore. How very exciting.

SunshineCake1 · 28/03/2022 16:16

Thank you @TheRealHousewife @Gonnagetgoing @Youdoyoutoday @buzzofthebumblebee FlowersFlowers.

It is breaking me seeing dh cry whenever he talks about what is happening. He had to cancel something today indefinitely and say what has been happening and he couldn't read the email to me without his voice going. My son isn't sleeping and my oldest is coming home.

The police are being amazing.

I've lost pounds and inches but not in the way I would want too. Had a crumpet for lunch because dh and I are making each other eat. I'm making a blend of different fruits and milk later as I think drinking will be easier. Sleep is a nightmare. Averaging 3.5 hours a night. Had warm milk last night before bed and it did help.

HouseofHolbein · 28/03/2022 17:15

@SunshineCake1 I’m so sorry you are going through this. My heart is breaking for you 😢

My daughter went through a difficult time. She currently hates me very much. We are no contact. However she keeps in touch sporadically with her siblings who let me know she is alive and well.

Praying that you get to hear that she is safe very soon.

SunshineCake1 · 28/03/2022 17:20

She's with police. Won't tell us where she is and doesn't want to talk to us. Nor her siblings. I expect she will convince them she is fine and let go. How many more psychiatrists are going to be taken in with her ? Do they all think she has nine lives so the fact she has only tried twice is a good thing as she can have a few more goes before they will listen to me ??

Thank you @HouseofHolbein.

I'm so worried about DH.

HouseofHolbein · 28/03/2022 17:26

Right you know she is ok for now. That’s the important thing. Not sure how to keep contact with her if she doesn’t want to… you need a go between really if she would agree to that someone neutral. Would the police be able to help with that? Sorry I’m not more use - my experience was 14 years ago and she was 15 so still treated as a child 😢

Lots of love and strength to you all 💕

SunshineCake1 · 28/03/2022 17:34

Bottom line is she is 18 and she wants to die. She has tried more than once to kill herself.

HouseofHolbein · 28/03/2022 17:41

I’m sorry. That sounds so inadequate. Wish I could say or do something to help you get through this. I can appreciate some of the pain because I’ve had similar. Praying for you and your lovely girl 💕

SunshineCake1 · 28/03/2022 17:47

Thanks for posting. It does help to talk. Sorry if I was snippy.

Crazzzycat · 28/03/2022 18:00

You must be heartbroken @SunshineCake1. Mental health care for adult is just so inadequate in this country 😔

@SingaporeSlinky, resistance level 7 is for body builders! Concept 2 recommend a setting of either 3 or 4 for beginners. Those are the settings professional rowers use, as it’s the same resistance you’d get if you were rowing on water.

ImALittlePea · 28/03/2022 18:39

@SunshineCake1 you and your family are in my thoughts constantly. I have no words that will really do any good but I'm wishing for a happy resolution to this awful situation for you all. Sending strength to you all 💐

SunshineCake1 · 28/03/2022 19:46

MH care is crap for kids too going by our experience. Still waiting for a call back. We have done nothing to deserve this. I mean the refusing to talk to us or text us.

buzzofthebumblebee · 28/03/2022 21:09

Do keep talking to us Sunshine. You are being so courageous, and even expressing your feelings and emotions to a bunch of (fabulous) women online is better than you bottling everything up. Hug your boys, squeeze your DH very tight, and lots of cuddles for your DDog. Keep breathing, deeply, consciously, into your belly. Stick on some calm-mindfulness-app or whatever, a bit of mountain rain sound or birdsong or something when to focus on when you wake and can't clear your head of bad thoughts. Hot sweet tea. One step at time, hour by hour, day by day. Willing your daughter to make contact. No, you don't deserve this.

buzzofthebumblebee · 28/03/2022 21:16

And taking of fabulous - I'm definitely more Edina than Patsy. Wasn't she always on a diet too?!!!! Talking of diets, day 1 again today and I am pleased to report I've had pineapple, yoghurt, seeds, chicken salad with lentils, roast cauliflower, small portion pasta with homemade pesto broccoli and peas. Nicely satisfied. If only nice, healthy-ish, tasty food didn't take so long to prepare ; ) I seem to have eaten a few days quota of veg too. But better veg than Lindt chocolate balls?!!!

Crumpet good @SunshineCake1. Porridge? with honey and banana ? warming and comforting?

Keep up the good work everyone else. Very well done on Week 1 losses ladies (forgot who you are, sorry) - but remembered it was 3.5 and 3lbs respectively - that's nearly 1/2 stone between you !!!! Good luck into week 2 and beyond.

SunshineCake1 · 28/03/2022 21:20

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee. I'm so worried about bringing the thread down but every time I think of starting a thread just about this situation I don't want too. My son has just come home and is in the kitchen making food for himself. If he had texted me I would have done it for him. He is home for a week which is brilliant as I didn't know he could stay that long. He has to work but him being here is just wonderful.

Thank you @ImALittlePea and @Crazzzycat. I'm so heartbroken at what this is doing to dh as well. Not eating or sleeping properly. He had a heart attack a couple of years ago so I worry about that too.

SunshineCake1 · 29/03/2022 06:23

I dreamt about DD last night Sad. There was lots going on in the dream and most of it made no sense but it also told me exactly how stressed out and churned up I am. No call from the police so we don't know if she is still with them. I assume so at the very least or maybe she has been taken to hospital. I'm worried sick. I haven't slept well. DH wants to take the dog somewhere different to get away from the house, would work well as DS1 is here but needs to work from home, but it feels wrong to have a nice morning. The dog knows something is wrong and she still needs exercising and tbh it won't be much of a nice time as all we do is talk about dd, agonise, ask each other questions we can't answer, hug each other and cry.

DH is sure she won't come home. I am worried she will come home not alive.

Sorry to just pour all this out here as it know it isn't fair to you all who are happy chatting about your wonderful successes but I don't want a thread on my own and I'm heartbroken.

SanFranBear · 29/03/2022 07:32

You're not on your own, Sunshine - we're all here, rooting for you, your lovely DH and the rest of your family. The whole situation is heartbreaking and I'm sorry you're going through this. Your DH sounds like a lovely man, as does your DS1 - perhaps a change of scene wouldn't be too much of a bad thing, distract yourselves even if just for an hour or two. I hope your day gets better Flowers

Due out for lunch today but at a rather posh pub so they do some nice, low calorie options so will try to choose one of those (and not plump for one of their scrumptious burgers!) That's if DS perks up - he's been rough for the last week or so, nausea mainly. He's been LFT'd to the max and its not Covid but it sure is lingering...

Gonnagetgoing · 29/03/2022 09:52

@SunshineCake1 - oh lovey - this is awful. I don't really know what to say about your DD. Hopefully your DD is savvy enough and has people around her so she stays safe. I would say don't give up on her not returning home or making contact. I do think walks etc are a good thing because you need fresh air and distance.

So yesterday I had veggie stir fry with tofu and rice and also had a nectarine and had 2 small slices of cheese (Cathedral City lighter) and a Lindt hazelnut bar. I forgot, the night before I had some fruit pastilles. Funnily enough I'm finding the chocolate and fruit pastilles aren't giving me the same hit as they used to do, the cheese is! But fruit helps me to curb the sweet cravings. I did a 30 minute walk.

Still at 11 stone 3lb.

Had oatsosimple with blueberries, small amount of honey and skimmed milk.
