@EmmaH2022 that sounds like a dangerous calorie deficit to me. I agree, I don’t think gps are always best placed.

I can see the GP's point for me. I am five foot, with a tiny frame, was doing a very long hours sedentary job, and taking meds known to cause weight issues. I just can't do what she said.

More clothes queries - I realise QVC is not the height of fashion but I rather like this. Probably because I have never worn anything like it.

However, I would feel like I was walking down the street in a dressing gown if I wore this. Is it just me?

On the Style & Beauty board, I saw more than one poster comment that a colour block jumper is "too much" for the office. I had been planning to wear a colour block jumper there on Thursday. I do feel like some posters will criticise anything though.

What do others think?

@EmmaH2022 it’s nice. I would do jeans and heels. As another shorty (5ft 1) I struggle with this style, feels very much like a dressing gown. That’s why the heels might help it feel more dressy and less dressing gown.

Welcome @40somethingmummy. Glad the posting has helped you join up. Good luck with it.

Today has been tough! I injected into my tummy for the first time, I’ve normally done thighs. I feel so sick! I’ve not really struggled so far but today is awful!

saxendanewbie · 22/02/2022 17:48

Hi I'm so pleased to find this thread I've been debating whether to start Saxenda since I heard about it on tiktok of all places! A woman I follow on there has lost 6 stone in 24 weeks!

I must admit the side effects are worrying me, especially the thyroid cancer one!

Does anyone know if my GP would prescribe it for me? My BMI is very very high. I don't want to be referred to a weight clinic I'm just hoping to get it off my GP

EmmaH2022 · 22/02/2022 18:05

Orange sorry to hear that you are feeling ill, hope it passes.

I never wear heels but I think it would look dressing gowny even with them. My sister thinks all the dressing gown stuff is nice but she is slim and only wears fitted stuff. I do wonder if dressing gown style is aimed at my shape!

newbie I think they can prescribe it.

I don't know when mine is going to turn up. In theory it could be a week, but I can't imagine Royal Mail keeping a fridge item for that long?

@EmmaH2022 thank you, really hope so!

I would say that print and style would work on apple shape. I’m pear shape so meant to wear smaller prints but love big prints. My friend wears this style all the time and I get very jealous! She’s tall, slim and beautiful… nightmare to stand next to 😂

EmmaH2022 · 22/02/2022 18:29

Orange as I get older, I feel really silly standing next to people like that. Doesn't happen often but I find it's embarrassing when it does.

Recently, someone said "I thought you were in your 30s" which is nice as I'm 46, but she followed it up with "I thought your sister was younger than you and I've just heard she's 50, is that correct?"

It is correct - but as I replied to her I thought, I look older than sis because I'm fat!

She didn't mean any malice, I don't think.

OP posts:
Orangemoon77 · 22/02/2022 19:26

@EmmaH2022 I think that fact you look in your 30s at 46 is a great compliment! Take it!! Ignore the bit about your sister. She 100% didn’t have malice but probably didn’t think when she said it. I would say you and your sister have good genes and both look young. I also get the feeling you are probably not as fat as you think you are.

The other day I thought I was looking old and thought it because I’m fat… it’s part of the mindset. I’m 39 and feel I look 49 and physically feel about 59 😂

scarlettoharasgreendress · 22/02/2022 19:34

I agree. I'm one of three and there's 4.5 years between my oldest sister and me. Our middle sister looks oldest but she's been a smoker for years. I think there's very little difference in looks between eldest sister and me age-wise. But she's half my size 😂

Back in the groove today. No cake. None wanted.

scarlettoharasgreendress · 22/02/2022 19:35

Oh and I'm 43. We have all had the benefit of excellent genes tho. Both parents don't look their age.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 22/02/2022 19:40

@Orangemoon77, I injected into my tummy on days 1,2&3 and was sick on 2&3, so then I injected into my thigh 4,5&6. I've been absolutely fine accept I find it hurts a little more when doing my thigh so decided I'd try the tummy again putting the sickness down to my body adjusting to something new. So yesterday and today went back to the tummy and surprise surprise I was sick again this morning. Sticking to the thigh I think from now on.

Welcome @saxendanewbie, I think the GP can prescribe if your bmi is over 35, it's always worth trying first.

I was just saying to dd earlier that I'm only as old as other people think I am. Fortunately most people knock 10years off me and frequently think I'm in my late 20s. then I tell them I have 4 dc one who is an adult and watch their jaws drop.

Orangemoon77 · 22/02/2022 19:48

@Sunshinedreaming2022 that’s so reassuring! I kept thinking I was mad for thinking thigh and stomach would make a difference but you have backed my theory up. I’m doing thigh tomorrow, can’t feel like this again.

Orangemoon77 · 22/02/2022 19:52

@scarlettoharasgreendress good genes certainly help! I’m quite lucky. I feel old but 40 this year but I don’t really look my age, not much younger mind you! My Mum looks really young so I’m hoping I follow her genes rather than my dad

EmmaH2022 · 22/02/2022 22:22

Re overweight, I am definitely as fat as I think I am! BMI of 35.

My Saxenda delivery is coming tomorrow, I just had an email.

I've been fat for ages but it had no impact on how I felt or on my ability to rush about. It's only recently I felt that change.

I have been injecting into my stomach the whole time. I did notice a difference in how it feels to go from 0.6 to 1.2.

I’ve noticed in the past year my limitations because of my weight, we went to Warwick castle last year and I climbed to the top of the turret. They have a defibrillator up there and I can see why, I don’t know how i physically made it up the steps. If it wasn’t for another family being right behind us so I could turn around I would have gone back down. My heart was coming out of my chest. Also in my head I’m still a size 16 and then I get a genuine surprise when I can’t even get a 16 past my thighs. I’m a 18/20 at the minute and want to be a 10/12 which is what I was before. Although to be honest I just want to be able to walk in a shop and pick something up instead of thinking that’s too tight, that’s going to show my arms up etc.

Had a bad day (well, not bad but not healthy). It was my sisters 30th so we had breakfast out (full English) then we went to a spa and had a mini afternoon tea then went for a steak house. I didn’t eat anywhere near as much as what I would normally but definitely consumed over 2000 calories, ate a lot of grease and I’m paying for it today. I feel horrendous. Luckily I’m on admin day today so can work from home but I have to be available all day on the phone for other nurses on my team to call and I just want to eat some broccoli and go to sleep 🤣

ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 23/02/2022 07:09

Also I haven’t upped my dose, I’m still feeling ok on the 0.6 and the side effects were so horrendous when I started that I can’t risk going up and being so ill again

Orangemoon77 · 23/02/2022 07:50

I completely understand. I remember at my biggest going for a walk (long walk) in the heat and genuinely thought I was going to die. That pushed me forward.

I use to be a size 10 and currently a 14-16 (14 in selected shops only). I remember weighting 10 stone back in 2019 (before I fell pregnant) and thinking I was fat… I hate that person now, I was not fat! I had my dd in 2020 followed by lockdown and for the next year and a bit I weighed around 15 stone. I dieted, i went onto orlistat and even joined slimming world. I made it to 12 and half by February 2022. I stopped both and switched to Saxenda, on a good friends recommendation. Orlistat had side effects that were getting to me and slimming world was great but I was paying £6 to get weighed and just needed a break. I’m still doing it but not properly as I don’t really have the appetite so just eat what I can face. It’s been a journey to get here and every pound off I feel proud of myself. I’ve even started to work out, which still kills me but I’m getting there. I do what I can when I can.

So that’s my story. You had shared and inspired me to post mine. Thank you

40somethingmummy · 23/02/2022 08:44

@ImSaxyAndIKnowIt hope you don’t have too tough a day. Draw a line under yesterday and look forward

@Orangemoon77 wow that’s fab! 12 half stone is great, not a massive mountain to climb there. Out of curiosity, how much weight did the friend who recommended it lose?

I felt hungry yesterday afternoon. Hadn’t felt hungry since starting last Thursday... wondering if it’s a sign I need to increase my dose, which would be tomorrow anyway.
I stupidly ate chocolate before dinner to fill the gap 🙈 but then couldn’t finish my dinner. My husband seems to have noticed I’m eating less, but I usually eat super fast and actually I’ve slowed right down. Even putting knife and fork down at times to rest.
Ridiculous really, all the basics for not over eating and learning when you’re full but it took the injections to make me start.
Still feeling positive though, at least I have now started.

Orangemoon77 · 23/02/2022 09:16

@40somethingmummy she lost 9lb in 3 weeks and still going. I’ll get another update when I see her next. She was really lucky as not one side effect and the weight dropped off! Thank you, I’m happy losing so much and really hoping Saxenda will work for me to get me into the 11 stone bracket. It’s been slow but I’m getting there. Only at the start of week 2 of Saxenda and 3lb off, I’m trying hard not to mid week weigh in.

40somethingmummy · 23/02/2022 09:22

@Orangemoon77 yep it’s hard to not become obsessed and weigh too much isn’t it.. a week seems like such a long way off but it isn’t at all. It’s just I have no patience

40somethingmummy · 23/02/2022 09:22

@Orangemoon77 your friend has done amazing! I’d be over the moon with that too

EmmaH2022 · 23/02/2022 10:50

Weigh in
No weight lost.

I was expecting it though.

OP posts:
Orangemoon77 · 23/02/2022 11:49

That’s a shame @EmmaH2022. Hopefully this next week will work. I know it sounds daft but you could be eating to little, that can actually stop weight loss (don’t know how or why but SW coach told me).

EmmaH2022 · 23/02/2022 12:12

No, I'm not eating too little, I've definitely eaten too many calories.

Don't get me started on that theory though! Grin

OP posts:
Orangemoon77 · 23/02/2022 12:31

It’s one of those theories that make zero sense and genuinely don’t know if it’s true! I’ve never eaten too little to find out. SW couch was probably just saying it to make people feel better about things 😂
