Collected mine today. Any tips for starting tomorrow? I'm assuming morning is a good time to use the saxenda?

Bit worried - huge, stressy week ahead but if I put it off till things calmed down, I'd never start...

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 19/02/2022 21:29

I started 15 stone 10lbs 4 days ago. Weighed myself this evening before injection number 5.... 15 stone 4.5lbs. I have low appetite and have been off work for a few days so not out exercising and running about like a headless chicken.... 😳🤯.

christologymum · 19/02/2022 21:39

I've had some success with this. Lost about a stone in 3 weeks, I went up to the full dose fairly quickly though. I'm not currently taking it as can't afford it on the highest dose of a pen every 6 days. Are people getting it online as the cheapest I've found is £68 delivered but im wondering about asking my GP and explaining that I've had success but can't keep up with the cost and see if they can prescribe.

EmmaH2022 · 19/02/2022 21:42

Best - I actually started in the evenings in case of any stomach trouble.
Today's my first day of trying the morning. To be honest it hasn't made any difference.

Bryan - that's great!

Christology - I'd try that then. I avoid my doctor for reasons I won't go into here, otherwise I'd have tried that.

Yay @ImSaxyAndIKnowIt you’re still here! Glad you are feeling better on it now. That is exactly the same as me - I used to always snack whilst cooking dinner but now I’m just like meh I’ll wait. It’s really weird.
Today I have eaten branflakes for breakfast, sushi for lunch and then dinner with have a gousto box each week - well today was some curry and I don’t like curry much (I can’t cope with spice) so I decided to just have the rice, toasted almonds and naan bread. And I wasn’t bothered at all and didn’t feel like anything was missing out. I then had a tiny bowl of popcorn whilst watching tv with the dc. Total of 1448 calories today.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 19/02/2022 21:51

@JaneyJimplin it is pricey isn’t it? I bought one from simple online pharmacy, was £55 for one plus needles and bin. Since I’ve not had any bad reaction to it I thought I’d just place an order for 10 next time 🙈 I’d rather pay one huge lump sum and it’s done for a while then drips of money with is fine until an unexpected bill comes in and you don’t have the spare cash that week. Plus having 10 will force me to stick with it for at least 10weeks though hopefully more like 5-10 months. Need to find a box to store them in the fridge in though

AnnaMagnani · 19/02/2022 21:54

I'm 4 months in to Ozempic. The once weekly injections suits me a lot better, and it's easy to eke out the pens for more doses, I'm on 0.75mg and have lost 15kg - started at 92kg or 14st 7.

Main issues have been constipation and reflux. The reflux is mainly controllable by reducing portion size and cutting out fat, which is basically the point of the Ozempic, but sometimes you do want to eat something else and I have got through a lot of Gaviscon!

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 19/02/2022 21:57

@BestInterests I don’t know how you have the willpower to wait, I’d injected myself within half hour of it being delivered. Just go for it now.

@BryanAdamsLeftAnkle well done what a great start! I love the first week weight loss it’s always so motivating isn’t it? Because it’s been half term and the weathers been crap I feel like I’ve barely left the sofa this week, I’m actually looking forward to returning to the gym next week and trying to burn some more calories. It will be interesting to see how that affects my appetite as well. Are you taking measurements as well as weighing?

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 19/02/2022 22:26

I didn't realise how big I was until I took a photo. I'm so horrified I'm this big. But my graduation is in May so I need to be smaller so he doesn't need the wide lens 😂. I'm at work tomorrow then I have a week annual leave but have cleaning pla s so hope not to be sitting watching crap TV. 😂📺.

EmmaH2022 · 19/02/2022 23:10

Bryan I think it's good to sort early if you can

I have been fat for ages and there was a stage it really bothered me but life took over. Also it seemed medication and hormone related. It's only recently I have begun to feel different. It does bother me that I look ridiculous but I got used to it.

I now wish I'd been neurotic about it like my mum.

I also really hate the way everything seems to revolve around food but
I seem to be short on friends at the mo so that side is easier!

JaneyJimplin · 20/02/2022 00:06

Can you buy Ozempic online too? I've only found saxenda but weekly injections seems easier.

christologymum · 20/02/2022 08:23

Thanks I'm going to ring GP on Monday so I'll come back and let people know the response, my BMI is now just below 30 but was higher before starting on it so I'll have to explain that no doubt. Thankfully my GP is still doing phone appointments so I should get a quick no if it's a non starter rather than wasting time with an appointment, hopefully anyway. Failing that I'm going to sign up to LLyods as max is £260 for a month but not paying for delivery and can collect and get some support etc.

Orangemoon77 · 20/02/2022 08:47

@christologymum good luck with the GP. I think GPs only prescribed if BMI is 35 and over. I got mine from Boots and checked with the GP they were happy for me to take it. The GP was very positive about it and said in the future they may lower the BMI as it’s really helping people but for now I have to pay. It’s worth giving it a go as some GPs might be more generous….worth asking.

Orangemoon77 · 20/02/2022 08:50

Boots online doctor is £150 for 3 pens and £240 for 5 pens and pick up from pharmacy so no delivery or face 2 face appointment needed.

AnnaMagnani · 20/02/2022 11:10

I get my Ozempic from my-bmi.co.uk

It's £199 for whatever dose you get, whether that works out as 1 pen or 2. So depending where you are in titration you can sometimes eke it out to being £199 for 6 weeks rather than 4 weeks as you will have more doses left in the pen if that makes sense.

At the moment I'm being sent the 1mg pen but I only wanted to go up to 0.75mg. There are lots of click charts on line so it's easy to just count the clicks to go up to the smaller dose. I'm still losing about 1 pound a week so don't see the need to go up to 1mg right now.

I've been very happy with it but it was mind blowing in the early days to see just how much I snacked, and to break the connection to having to eat Everywhere.

EmmaH2022 · 20/02/2022 16:56

Feeling very hungry and irritable today.

The weather's been horrendous - being unable to go for a walk hasn't helped.

OP posts:
ImSaxyAndIKnowIt · 20/02/2022 18:54

@EmmaH2022 I’m feeling a bit more hungry tonight definitely but I’m a bit… numb to it that’s the only way to describe it. Like right now I feel hungry, and the part of the brain that’s thinking ‘let’s go maccies’ is there but then the rest of my brain is say 🤷🏻‍♀️ Can’t be bothered to eat it.

That probably makes no sense but that’s the only way I can put it into words 🤣

Orangemoon77 · 20/02/2022 19:03

@ImSaxyAndIKnowIt 100% makes sense! I’m hungry and cannot be bothered to eat!

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 20/02/2022 19:16

@ImSaxyAndIKnowIt I understand that feeling. Today I’ve been rather hungry. Not starving hungry but I definitely knew my belly was empty but I was also cba to eat, I’ll just ignore it. I had some leftover Valentine’s Day chocolate within reaching distance as well but only ate 1 lindor ball. However af did also surprise me by turning up today so if I can get through the next few days then I know I can do this

EmmaH2022 · 20/02/2022 19:16

Interesting, on previous days I have had much less hunger.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 20/02/2022 20:44

What day are you on @EmmaH2022? Maybe it’s a sign it’s time to increase dose?

EmmaH2022 · 20/02/2022 21:09

@Sunshinedreaming2022

What day are you on *@EmmaH2022*? Maybe it’s a sign it’s time to increase dose?
I can't recall if I'm on week 3 or 4!

I don't want to go on a higher dose. It's just one day.

Plus it has not been a good day, I'm exhausted and everything I tried to do today went wrong, so tiredness and irritability are a factor.

I was just making the observation that others have felt hunger and don't feel the need to address it, whereas I just haven't really felt it till today.

Oh yeah I wouldn’t rush to do anything. Especially as woman, our bodies fluctuate with the constant changing hormones so it’s always best to wait a week or two and then make a decision. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you.

Saxenda is liraglutide, Wegovy is semaglutide. They work in similar ways but Wegovy has been shown to have better weight loss effects.

Ozempic is semaglutide, but it typically comes in smaller doses than Wegovy.

I started on Wegovy (weekly shots) in early December (I'm in the US) and I'm now 16lbs down. I'm thrilled with it.
