A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Me please! I am doing C25K, and just sensible eating avoiding sweets, snacks, stodge and ,.. sipping wine. I'd like to lose 7lb in Feb and 1.5 stone overall to take me to 24 bmi. It's just crept up and I want it to creep back down again. Smile

BG2015 · 30/01/2022 19:38

I'm in! I've put a stone on after going through 4 months of chemo.

I'd like to lose 5-7lb during February and am just using My Fitness Pal to track my eating, cutting out biscuits, cakes and crisps.

I'm joining the gym and will keep walking and closing those 3 rings!

SunshineCake1 · 30/01/2022 19:59

I'm hoping I'll be more present in February.

SW 14 stone
CW 11 stone 11.6
GW 10.5 stone

Intermittent fasting.
Running outside and treadmill.
Dog walks.

I've upped my veg intake a lot. Drink loads of water. Rarely alcohol. Once I'm four months.

Not quite over covid and glandular fever but hanging in there. Recently confirmed as in the menopause.

Welcome to our newbies and good luck.

Welcome to the thread @RebeccaNoodles sounds very doable and better to nip it in the bud now.

@BG2015 sending a wave of compassion about the tough journey you must have had! Hope you’re through the worst. Flowers

@SunshineCake1 These threads wouldn’t be the same without you. You’re my number 2 😊. That said, I know how stuff things are for you so absolutely no pressure ❤️

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2022 21:14

@BG2015 I hardly ever close my rings. It’s the exercise ring that doesn’t often close for me. I have it set to the lowest at 10 minutes. I could walk for hours and still only register a few minutes depending on my cadence. Had watch a year and I’ve still not established a trend 😅. Yet still I always try every single day!

Checking in on the new thread 😎

1st of March will be the first anniversary of my healthy(-er) living journey. I’d love to get down to 75 kg by the end of the month, as that would mean I’ve lost 25% of my body weight in a year! Only 1 kg to go, so it should be achievable.

I’m planning to get there by making sensible food choices and doing a not so sensible amount of exercise 😄

I’m still working on my 2022 km in 2022 challenge. I did more than 250 km in January, which far exceeded my expectations. It’d be nice to make it to 500 in February, but am conscious that there aren’t that many days in February, so we’ll have to wait and see if I get there.

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2022 21:49

@Crazzzycat you can do it! What a milestone that will be! You have done brilliantly to date 👏👍👌 Because of you I’m more mindfull of exercising every single day and I have done at least 20.22 minutes per day, more often more. So a massive thank you for that!

ginsparkles · 30/01/2022 22:44

Checking into the new thread. Hoping for a more positive head space in February to aid the weight loss.

Crazzzycat · 31/01/2022 00:46

Thanks @TheRealHousewife. I don’t think I could have done it without this thread, so it’s me who should be thanking you! I’m glad I managed to inspire you though ☺️ Keep up the good work!

BG2015 · 31/01/2022 07:39

Thanks for the welcome. I have a week of radiotherapy and then I'm done with active treatment. It's been an interesting few months but desperately need to get my body back to some semblance to what it was before September.

I'm 5' 8" so tall and carry a bit of extra weight with out looking too different but my clothes are tight and I feel fat.

I'm not back at work until after the Easter school holidays so it's making good food choices whilst not being in a routine.

TheRealHousewife · 31/01/2022 07:46

Good Morning All

Cross posted …

@BG2015 you sound so pragmatic and ‘together’ even though you’ve had a tough time. You’ve a good few months to get ‘you’ back and I’m sure you’ll look absolutely amazing when you do return to work.

Checking in ☺️

I normally weigh in on Fridays and I'm a bit reluctant to step on the scales any earlier this week after the last weekend (hen do/spa trip/unnecessary indulgence etc). But I guess it'd be good to know the impact of said weekend and know my total loss for Jan.

Marking my achievements in Jan:
Cutting right back on wine - ZERO drinks during the week which is very unusual for me (let's ignore the weekends though, ok)
All but eliminated midweek bread and crisps - my other weakness
Regular tracking on MFP
Circa 8lb loss (pending the impact of last weekend)

Targets for Feb:
Would love to be firmly in the next stone bracket down this month
Maintain the reduction/cutting out of wine, bread and crisps in the week for the month
Carve out some time to move more

Would love to hear the Jan wins and Feb plans for others!

SingaporeSlinky · 31/01/2022 12:03

Great idea @ImALittlePea

January’s total weight loss was 7lbs

I joined a gym last week and have done 2 classes and a general equipment session so far. More booked for this week.
Since 2nd week of Jan I’ve had a grand total of 2 tiny homemade biscuits and one indulgent pudding. No crisps, no chocolate, no other unhealthy snacks and no squash, only plain water. I’ve stocked up (and actually enjoying) some healthy granola, chia seeds, flax seeds and nuts. I’ve reduced coffee down to 1 per day and started having green tea.

Goal for February is to lose another 5lbs.

129orbust · 31/01/2022 12:12

Checking in for the new month.
131.6lbs so a little up after the weekend fun which is ok as it will be gone in the morning.
Long walk planned in for tonight - weather permitting.
I hope this month is better for everyone who is carrying heavy burdens currently. Flowers

SunshineCake1 · 31/01/2022 12:33

I've posted on January. Forgive me if I don't repost it all here. The following is new..

Thank you for your lovely words @TheRealHousewife Flowers.

Congrats and well done @Crazzzycat. Great achievements. Is there only us two doing the 2022km in 2022 challenge?

Welcome @BG2015 and sorry to hear you've been ill.

Your plans sound good @ImALittlePea but don't worry if you don't do all of them all of the time. My plan, hope, is to lose 2lb in February. Low but I'm being realistic as I'm not very good. And currently injured. (See January's post).

Well done @SingaporeSlinky! You've done great with a fabulous loss and giving up certain food stuffs.

Hi @129orbust Smile.

galacticpixels · 31/01/2022 14:01

Happy Monday all. I feel like the start of a new month is coming just in time to kick me back into action.

I didn't have a good weekend food-wise. I was out for dinner and many drinks Friday night (restrictions just recently lifted in Ireland so we were celebrating) and then I was SO tired over the weekend that some bad habits slipped back in. I did get out for a hike and a couple of other walks too though, so at least that. I was feeling very down and unmotivated all yesterday but I'm going to blame the alcohol and not dwell.

Back at it today though! Went for a big walk this morning, then did a quick workout on the spin bike just now. Lunch was soup and dinner is lasagne.

My total weight loss for January was around 5.5lb, so I'd like to lose the same in February.

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/01/2022 14:25

Also checking-in for Feb.

Jan achievements:

  • no alcohol - Dry January in full
  • 3lbs net loss
  • overall total loss 2 stone achieved
  • back into my 30 waist jeans
  • total km run over month = 40

February Goals

  • restrict alcohol to 2 x nights / week
  • new weight bracket - want to be in the 10s
  • new GW 10 st 10
  • no snacking, crisps, chocolate, bread, cake, sugar etc
  • continue with running, pilates, & PT
  • feel fabulous

I'm semi-doing 2022km @SunshineCake1 & @Crazzzycat (huge congrats so far btw!) - but I'm not include dog walks - as to me these count towards my daily 10k steps which I should be doing as a baseline anyhow. Cycling is the way to rack-up the distance. I've signed-up for London:Brighton in June, and so hopefully will add to tally once I start training for that. The running has achieved 40km. I've a long way to go!

TheRealHousewife · 31/01/2022 16:17

No alcohol weekdays is such a beneficial change @ImALittlePea and gives you something to look forward to at the weekend.

@SingaporeSlinky great January result 👍👏🏅

You are welcome @SunshineCake1 ❤️ My 2022 challenge is doing at least 20mins 22seconds of exercise/walk each and every day. So far I gone above and beyond that so far.

@galacticpixels that’s a great loss for January, well done 👍👏🏅

@buzzofthebumblebee you’ve achieved so much for January. Fantastic progress 👏👍🏅

My loss for January is 2.8lbs which I’m thrilled about. Not yo-yo’d as much as I have done previously. My goal for February is a modest 2lb.

Life’s been tough for a lot of us over recent months. Stress and anxiety can be the saboteurs of better food choices and positive change. Nonetheless you’ve all stayed focused, dug deep and made the changes to enable yourselves to meet your goals. I applaud 👏 you all ❤️

Evening all.

So I haven't weighed today because the weekend was erm well the least said the better. So before that I had a 7lb loss in January. I'll weigh tomorrow and assess the damage. New month new beginnings!

Well done @SunshineCake1 @SingaporeSlinky @galacticpixels @buzzofthebumblebee @Zalen @TheRealHousewife and anyone I missed, on your fab January losses.

Todays been ok. Had a prawn layered pasta for lunch and have a duck stir fry for dinner. Snacked on a babybel, yoghurt and fruit bar. All in all coming in at 1217 cals today.

Thank you to you all for your support ... for the weight and the other nonsense that's going on. Aiming on focussing on the positives. Dads not in pain and miserable now, the visit went well and DD seems happier having been, and on Thursday I get to ride a horse for the first time since I broke my spine 5 years ago!

SunshineCake1 · 01/02/2022 06:08

I can't sleep. All I can think about is DD. I just feel sick, tearful and anxious all the time. I'm also in pain from when I fell off the treadmill so I can't go for a run or walk. I'm so tired. Worried about dh too.

ginsparkles · 01/02/2022 06:31

Oh @SunshineCake1 .... sending you so much love.

ImALittlePea · 01/02/2022 07:42

Full disclosure... I wimped out of weighing in this morning. I managed to stay under my calories yesterday but really struggled with it, and I know I'm teetering on the edge of just jacking it all in and eating whatever I want again. I just don't know that if I weighed and it was awful, whether that would push me over that edge rather than haul me back in. So I've decided to plough on this week in blind faith and take Friday's weight at face value - and hoping I manage to maintain last week's weight which would mean I've mitigated any damage from the weekend away.

I know the above makes no sense. The brain certainly conspires against us sometimes, doesn't it.

ginsparkles · 01/02/2022 08:02

@ImALittlePea totally get that brain situation! I dodged the scales yesterday for the same reason. I went on today and it wasn't as bad as I expected. A good solid week this week and you might be pleasantly surprised come the weekend. You got this!

For me, the plan today is quite fishy!
Lunch - sweet chilli noodle salad with seafood sticks (guilty pleasure ! Will happily have the whole pack in one sitting so hoping that by having them on salads this week I can stop the binge!) with a yogurt and banana
Dinner - prawn carbonara

Sending love to all those in need today. And positive vibes to everyone

TheRealHousewife · 01/02/2022 08:43

Good Morning All

I love a ‘new month’, it’s just a natural reset point (if needed), a fresh start! As you know February is a short month but nevertheless we can get results whatever your goals. My goal is a modest 2lbs. What’s yours?

For those that like inspo - How to Lose Weight Safely is a good read 👍

@ginsparkles your menu for yesterday looked tasty 😋 and more delicious dishes today. I’m having Salmon myself today.

@SunshineCake1 sorry to read your update. Be kind to yourself and I’m sending a hug ❤️

@ImALittlePea Park the scales for the time being, they are not important in the scheme of things. However, try to think why you started to make healthier food choices. Imagine how you’ll feel when at goal, imagine how you’ll feel even part way to your goal. Imagine how you’d look and how great it is to fasten garments up with ease, even dropping a dress size down. Now imagine how you’ll feel if you give up and eat whatever takes your fancy. How would your clothes feel. What feelings would you have. I realise it’s up to you how you go forward but I for one think you deserve to be your best self, both in mind and body. The link I’ve posted is a good summary of what to do. ❤️ (Ps I wasn’t telling you off I am trying to gentle coax you)

Come on ladies, we can do this … Spring is around the corner and imagine wearing your lighter brighter clothes with the sun on your face either sitting in the garden or on a country walk. You’ll be glad you made the changes.

PS I also posted the Top Ten Pic again as visual reminder.
