As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

@campingqueen121 sounds painful and I agree a rest day is needed! Loving your positive attitude! 👏

@Crazzzycat I hardly ever use the oil amount suggested in some recipes. A curry recipe I used once called for 6tbs 😮. I only use what I need to get a good sauté on the onions 😬 Zillion cals saved. In fact I usually use golden ghee for curries, especially chicken curry.

@ImALittlePea I’m having a tray bake, not exactly adventurous 😬. But it is tasty. What about spicy Cauli egg fried rice. 🍲

I should share my stats from Wednesday:

CW - 11st 2
GW - 10st 6 to take me into healthy BMI, but I'd like to get to nearer 10 st.

We use a lot of pinch of nom recipes for evening meals and sometimes hairy bikers. But I've noticed that when I add up calories after meticulously weighing ingredients and using nutracheck app the calories can vary a bit from the recipe books, so I watch out for that. A hairy biker recipe was advertised at almost 200 calories lighter than reality last night. They must have used chicken sourced from a miniature land!

I have recently switched from real butter to lurpak lighter (didn't think I had butter often enough to matter, but was taken aback by calories) and we usually use one of those one cal type sprays if we need to sauté or fry anything off.

DH has also started using red wine stock pots as an alternative in weekend dishes that call for a glug or two of red wine - he says it makes a big difference to calories of the meals and doesn't really sacrifice the taste.

@ImALittlePea DH made me the best cauliflower cheese I've ever had for lunch so not that hungry. I suggested a salad sandwich and he discovered two bags of just past their date. I remembered someone suggesting stir frying salad that was a bit sad so I'm having that with some fried mushrooms. Eating it now and just had my meds so feeling a bit off again.

I've not tried it @campingqueen121 and I've barely heard of it. I will google shortly. Thank you.

I must admit ima but miffed not to have amazing bruises, @Crazzzycat. I've got a small one on my elbow and nothing on my side where all the pain is.

I'm hoping I'll get used to the meds as I don't like how they are making me feel.

Ooh love a cauli cheese @SunshineCake1 but I don't know how to make it healthy (and I love it how I make it so don't want to change it)

I went for a take on the pasta recipe @Crazzzycat sent - veggie sausage, garlic, greens, toms, pesto, cheese. It was epic! Thanks for the inspo!

It was so nice! Even more so on a whim when I could have easily had a beige dinner. About 750 cals which is more than I'd normally have for dinner but still well within my total for the day. Yums!

Evening everyone! Had a wonderful time back in the saddle, it's so nice to have horsey cuddles again! I suspect my legs will not be so happy in the morning!

Food wise today has been ok. A bit of snacking but not as much as on my day off usually!!! I kept myself with housework ... I even cleaned the washing machine !!

What I have to do now is not snack once I get back in from my meeting this evening!!!

Hi Ladies - Not food related.

I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment. Yesterday I went to the hairdressers and on arriving discovered I’d forgotten a mask. As some ladies were wearing them I didn’t want them feeling uncomfortable by me not wearing one. So I asked the staff if they had any disposable ones (chemist found corner I could have got some if not). A junior passed me one … I didn’t see it come out of a packet. It looked crumpled but clean (no lipstick or makeup) and I wore it. Today my chin has erupted into cold sores and I can see at least 5 heads. Never had any on my chin before and only had singles on my lip. I’m panicking that they have accidentally given me a used mask and I’ve caught them from it and also worried I could catch covid if it had been worn by an infected person. I can’t believe I’ve been so stupid! Two questions:-

  1. Would you ask the Salon about the possibility they’ve given me a used mask?

  2. Do I tell them about my infected face.

Hi all, joining in if that’s ok Grin I am currently 197lbs and want to ideally be under 187 by end of feb. Hopefully should be do-able as I’m going to lose a lot of water weight on week 1 (starting today Smile).

I don’t think the sores would come up that quickly. I thought the virus stays dorment for some time before erupting when your immunity is low or stressed.
But do call and suggest the box of masks be more available.

I lost 4.5 stone 4 years ago and got right down to 9.5st. I felt amazing, looked great, was super fit... the last 2 years has seen the comfort eating return, old habits die hard and all that jazz. I'm eaten my way to a 3.5st weight gain and enough is enough.

So i'll spend tomorrow reading back over this thread, taking notes and make a plan of action. I'd absolutely love 7lb off in Feb.

@TheRealHousewife is it possible that's it's an allergic reaction to something on the mask as opposed to being coldsores? Just wondering with the onset being so fast? Definitely speak to them about having a box available for the customers. We have one in our shop just in case.

So today I have a lovely walk with my friend this morning and then am meeting my mum for lunch. Lunch is tricky as everything on the menu isn't great from a calorie point of view and almost everything has bread! So have decided to ask if I can have one of their sandwich fillings on a house salad instead.
So hopefully today will look like this:
Salad at lunch
Sausage pasta for dinner.

Morning! I'm SO surprised but I've actually lost 0.5lb this week!?!!

🥳

So that's a loss YTD of 8.5lb and I'm now into a new stone bracket!!

Considering all the crap I ate and drank last week (it really was OTT indulgent) I'm so, so happy with this. Goes to show that the effort to weigh, make better choices and cut out crisps, wine, bread etc in the week is worth it.

I'm so grateful to you all for the kind support, inspo and encouragement so far. I honestly think I'd have caved this week had it not been for you and making myself accountable to you.

Plan for today
Lunch - probably soup but I've also got some mushrooms to use up so maybe something with those
Dinner - got a friend coming for dinner and making a veg risotto (and wine - it's the weekend after all 😁)

I don't know the answer to your question @TheRealHousewife but looks like @fallfallfall has helped. I keep some disposable masks in a food bag in my car for when we forget and my washable masks go back in a plastic bag into my handbag. I think it is just bad luck. Tbh I doubt I'd say anything to the salon but if it happened again I would ask if it was a new one if they passed one in the same state.

I've just taking my pain relief and they are making me feel very strange. Hoping I will get used to them as can't face another four days of this though the feeling doesn't last the whole time. I'm still in pain so it will be another day where I can't run or walk the dog but I will put a wash on and hopefully be able to chop my veg to make a tray bake for lunch. I think I'll do them with some wok noodles.

Still waiting to hear when DS1 is coming home as he didn't know when I asked him yesterday. Still desperately worried about DD. Such a feeling of helplessness Sad. I so need a hug.

Morning all. It's takeaway Friday here, so today's food plan

Skinny fried egg bagel (thin bagel with fried egg cooked in one cal spray rather than previous Friday treat of bacon and egg on a morning roll).

Soup for lunch.

Enchiladas for dinner - recipe from hairy bikers diet book or pinch on nom, I need to check. Will have with a zero alcohol beer so it feels like a takeaway with a beer.

Should save me enough calories for a couple of small glasses of wine later on Smile

Thank you for your replies about my infection. @ginsparkles I thought they could develop after 24 hours, which mine did after being in contact with the max. @fallfallfall has said after 2 days though. My face is totally a mess this morning. I’m being totally wimpy and feel nervous at ringing her about availability of masks (ultimately I should have taken responsibility for myself) … is it too cowardly to text 😬. Coincidentally in the night I had a massive bout of burning pain in stomach area. Was laid on the floor in bathroom at one time as I felt I needed to use loo but didn’t in the end. Not to be alarmist the last time I had that it was followed by a gastric bleed. Being watchful.

Menu
Meal 1 - Kale, carrot, red onion, red pepper, butter bean & Halloumi stir fry.
Meal 2 - Butter Chicken Curry & Spicy Cauli Rice.
