Following on from January Thread 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

my middle note was to you @Youdoyoutoday ; )

Youdoyoutoday · 30/01/2022 11:19

Thanks @buzzofthebumblebee
I'll get there but it is frustrating, I'm going to try to increase my step count more this week and cut out the booze, I know where I'm going wrong buy I just can't seem to get back on track!! I'm so annoyed with myself!

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2022 12:14

Good Morning All

@SunshineCake1 ❤️

@hopingforabrighterfuture2021 that’s fantastic progress… well done 👍👏🏅

You’re very well come @buzzofthebumblebee 😊 and you’re doing fantastically well, that’s down to you! 👍👏🏅

@Zalen 2.5 miles is excellent 👌

@Youdoyoutoday are you building muscle? Also muscles retain water when they are repairing and replenishing their glycemic stores. Don’t get disheartened, with all that exercise you’ll be fitter than a butchers dog 👍🏅👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Mustard Chicken, leeks, cabbage, carrots, broccoli and a mustard/cheese sauce.
Meal 2 - Not sure yet, might end up being an OMAD. Not had one for a while.
Tea, coffee with cream (1), water. Satsuma. Hazelnuts.

I’ll be posting the Thread for February later this evening. Enjoy your day!

@TheRealHousewife judging by my flabby belly I'm gonna say I'm not building muscle 🤣

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2022 12:22

@Youdoyoutoday 😅

Not been contributing much sorry I’ve just been getting through a very long week of work. Just done 7 days and have 1 left to go before a day off and it’s taking it’s toll.

Making a bean chilli for tea 😊 might have a gin as well because I’m not in until 6am tomorrow 😂😂

8stone13 · 30/01/2022 16:53

Last night I had sweet & sour chicken, crispy chilli chicken, salt & pepper king prawns, lemon chicken in Peking sauce, egg fried rice & noodles. Followed by lemon drizzle cake.

This morning & I had a croissant with bacon, 2 hot chocolates & some freshly squeezed orange juice.

I couldn't weigh in today as I'm not at home but I wouldn't even if I had been given the opportunity 😆

I shall assess the damage in the morning. Back to being sensible now...😀

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2022 18:45

You do right @swampytiggaa enjoy Gin

@8stone13 sounds like you’ve had a culinary feast 😋Good for the soul 👍.

Bean chilli was bloody lovely. Really didn’t want to make it but really enjoyed it. Gin then an early night I think!

TheRealHousewife · 30/01/2022 21:08

I prefer a bean chilli to meat @swampytiggaa 😋

On another note I thought I’d share my macros for today. Nearly perfect (for me that is) 👍

We do bean now because everyone likes chilli but my grotty 15 year old is now vegetarian. Does that make sense? I’m very tired and about to go to sleep 😂😂

ginsparkles · 30/01/2022 22:39

Back from a weekend away from you guys, and dieting. My head is fried, heart feels heavy. Normal service will resume tomorrow. Off to catch up on all your news. Catch up with you all properly tomorrow

8stone13 · 30/01/2022 23:19

@TheRealHousewife Thank you 😊 It was all delicious, though oddly I'm looking forward to getting back to eating less & eating more clean & healthily this week. I think my eating attitude is changing... 🤔

TheRealHousewife · 31/01/2022 07:40

Good Morning All

Last day today, so let’s make it count! Eat fresh, move with zing and chug that water 💧

Our tastes do change over time @8stone13. Can you believe I actually crave vegetables 🥕 🥦 🥬 🍅 … I just love them 😋.

@ginsparkles welcome ‘home’, I hope you’re ok (you wrote your heart feels heavy).

Totally makes sense @swampytiggaa. Why cook 2 different versions when one is equally delicious 😋 Hope you had a good sleep.

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken & boiled egg caesar salad sans croutons 🥗
Meal 2 - Chicken with chilli sauce and sliced mixed peppers & onions.
Tea, black coffee, water. Apple. Walnuts.

Enjoy your last day of January and start to get your mind set prepped to continue to make healthy choices in February 👍

@TheRealHousewife I'm ok. Was at my late fathers house this weekend. Sorting out his things. In a couple of months it'll be a year since he passed and I still expect him to call.

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/01/2022 08:00

It's a tough time for you @ginsparkles. The 1st anniversary is a big occasion. But I also found it liberating - gave myself mental permission to move on. Grief is still there, and I acknowledge it when the wave hits - but it doesn't dominate any more. Be kind to yourself.

I have woken up feeling utterly exhausted, despite an early night and good sleep. My big run obviously took it out of me, plus I was ravenous yesterday evening. Weight up & feeling bloated - but it will just be food-baby (with any luck)!

Can't believe it's last day January today. Hurray for spring time coming soon!

TheRealHousewife · 31/01/2022 09:12

Sorry to read that @ginsparkles Flowers

@buzzofthebumblebee some spring sunshine would be lovely ☀️

ginsparkles · 31/01/2022 09:12

Thanks @buzzofthebumblebee ....

Hopefully the bloat will disappear for you tomorrow xx

Youdoyoutoday · 31/01/2022 09:44

@ginsparkles I hear you on the first anniversary, it's difficult but you will get through it. The first anniversary of my mum passing was hard but I cried, laughed at memories and just allowed myself to feel it. Snuggles from my babies helped too. 💕

Also feeling the bloat this morning, felt pregnant at bootcamp! Also felt like I was just going through the motions, like the kid who mimes in the choir 🤣

But I did it!

Another declaration today....
I WILL KEEP MY FACE OUT OF THE CUPBOARDS AND FRIDGE TODAY👍

Happy Monday peeps

Ste23321 · 31/01/2022 09:47

@TheRealHousewife what app is that?

@ginsparkles so sorry to hear that. Sending you my love.

Today is my weigh in but I’m not going to weigh myself as I’ve had a tough weekend. It’s a really tough time. I’m very unhappy in my marriage, I hate my job and I have young children to take care of. I’ve let myself indulge this weekend and feel awful today.

Zalen · 31/01/2022 09:54

Good morning, I hope everyone had a good weekend and still has roofs etc. Really windy this weekend, my already dilapidated shed, is now half the shed it used to be. Just another thing I'm going to have to replace, the joys of having moved house Shock

Got on the scales this morning, I'm 0.8lb down from last Monday, so I'm going to focus on that and ignore the fact that I was further down midweek and lack of self-control over the weekend has ruined that.

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/01/2022 10:19

Right everyone. Me included.

It's a fresh week, new month tomorrow, time to re-focus, regain the self control, be resistant and exercise that willpower. Be strong. We can do it. We want to do it. It will be worth it in the end.

No more self-pity about having lost the food willpower at the weekend. Negative thoughts do us no favours. Positive power all the way. We've got this.

ps - @ginsparkles - I know it's not your DF's 1st anniversary - I just meant that hopefully after 1st anniversary you are able to move on a bit Flowers

@Ste23321 - sorry to hear things so tough at home Flowers. Sounds as though you have a lot to juggle.

ImALittlePea · 31/01/2022 10:57

Morning. I had the most over indulgent and relaxing weekend away - back home yesterday to the chaos of screaming kids and mountains of washing to catch up on was a bit of a crash I have to say. But it was worth it. Now to try and refocus and undo all the damage this week! I've just done a huge food shop, without having a meal plan which is very unlike me, so I'm now trying to retrospectively plan some seriously healthy/high protein/low cal lunches and dinners for the week. Help!

Thoughts and love with everyone who needs it ❤️

Crazzzycat · 31/01/2022 11:05

Hugs to everyone who’s struggling at the moment 😔

I just got myself signed off with stress so clearly am not doing that great either, but I’m sure I’ll make it through. I’ve been emailing my manager every single week since the year started to tell him I’m not coping, yet he only realised this morning that these emails are a lot more than me having “a bit of a moan” 😖

Ugh, on to some positives now...I did my final weigh in of the month this morning and am pleased to report a small loss! As I’ve said a few times this month, I’ve been off plan more than on plan, so to see any kind of loss is amazing. Also, I’ve found that upping my calories by 200 a day has almost completely stopped the urge to eat everything in sight.

I’ve made some really good progress on my 2022 km in 2022 challenge too this week: 75.57 km, taking the total to 289.42 km this month. Part of me is tempted to hop on to the exercise bike, just to push it over 300 km, but I don’t really want to turn this into a “chasing big numbers” game, so I may just chill instead 😄

Have a good day everyone!
