Following on from January Thread 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

I did it! I went back to the gym!! My legs hurt, but I did it.

He only took up baking in lockdown really. This is from a book the kids got him for Christmas. It’s supposed to be a drip cake but his caramel didn’t drip properly. Reckon he needs to practice 😂😂

Shared it on my work chat and my manager complimented my tiles 😭😭

@SingaporeSlinky porridge add a dessert spoon of plain yoghurt (ideally Greek Yoghurt) on top to eat with it, makes it taste really creamy, then you can make with water and a splash of milk

I guess if something like 60% of people are overweight, then kids grow up seeing overweight parents, grandparents, teachers, even doctors etc. It just becomes the everyday norm doesn’t it?

I’m back to the gym tomorrow for my first aerobics class. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it, but I’m going with a friend, so that will help.

Went for a run today for the first time since...who knows. Took me 45min to do 3k. It was so damn slippery. As in I didn't have to lift my feet to go down and I had to walk in bushes just to get up. On the bright side my pulse qa quite high the whole time.

Well done everyone on the losses.

I'm 0.4lb up on last week, however I'm on my period so really pleased with that as I'm prone to put on during this time, but normally by a couple of lbs, so hopefully next week will be a loss. I think I'm going to get some of the diagnostic scales, I'm interested to know now what's going on with my body now.

I completed day 2 of week 2 C25k and it's going really well so far. I also started t25 properly at the weekend, my legs are in bits from yesterdays work out and I'm sure the abs will hurt tomorrow from today's, so I'm drinking lots of green tea to help aid recovery.

@swampytiggaa that cake looks delicious, I'd be having it for breakfast, lunch and tea.

Good evening! Forgot about weighing this morning but when I got to work they had just restarted the 'Biggest Loser' thing we do so got weighed there. It's going to be a good motivator us all of my team join in so we can help each other. On my home scales at the weekend I had lost a pound, scales at work have me as staying at the same weight as before. So, not a great result but hoping peer pressure will help keep me on track! Well done to everyone with losses Grin

I'm sorry to say I might not be able to post much these next few days but I will try. I can't post without permission but a family member has had an incredibly difficult time and it is a miracle they are still with us. My head just can't think straight. Hence being awake before half five.

Keep going everyone. Don't forget your water !

I'm still in the game but at the stage where old habits are creeping in. I'm not following a diet as such but trying to leave it as long as possible in the day to eat and avoiding eating after my evening meal.

I've seen a cashmere jumper that I can't get out of my head so I'm thinking of rewarding myself. I was thinking of doing it when I am half way through to give me a boost but it's on final reduction so its going to be close. If I lose it I'll be gutted. However it would look better on a slimmer frame so if I don't get there then maybe it's best that I don't buy it.

@Youdoyoutoday Cauliflower is so versatile. I really enjoy it riced with added spice to have with a curry, chilli or egg fried. Delicious 😋

@Zalen sounds a tough situation. A lot of us feel we don’t deserve to have our feelings validated and deny we have them. Also we have an innate need to protect others from them. You’ll have a lot of feeling swirling around at the moment. Flowers

@SingaporeSlinky when I make porridge I use semi skimmed lacto free milk. I don’t add sugar. I’ve never made it with water. In regards to the milk, we get a lot of nutrients from it, protein, calcium, b12, iodine, magnesium etc. Its a powerhouse really. What would you replace the saved calories with if you didn’t use milk?

@declutteringmymind That's what's happened to me this week - old bad habits creeping back. I'm aware of them & trying to bat them away but it's not easy, it's so ingrained. I think you should get the sweater. It sounds like it's really caught your eye & I think you'll regret it if you don't grab it 🙂

Day 26 - Thurs 27th Jan - 9s 2 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.2
BF 23.5

Still no idea where that 3/4lb came from & why it won't go away 🤨 I'm wondering if it's that thing where you eat more & get away with it for a few days then it catches up with you. You're all confident that you've beaten the scales & then...wham!

I ate less yesterday & no chocolate at all & I felt so much better for it. Ugh. It's such a depressing thing to admit! I might have to reserve chocolate for Saturday nights only or something like that 😔

One thing I am pleased with is my hydration levels. I'm drinking loads of water which is an achievement as historically I've been terrible with that. I used to get to 3pm & realise I hadn't had a single mouthful of fluid 😱 No idea how I survived now looking back.

I'm out to dinner at a fabulous independent French restaurant with a great friend tomorrow night so I'd better not eat all day in preparation! Then Sat night we are visiting friends, a couple who confirm all stereotypes about gay men being the best cooks ever 😀 Whatever they feed us it'll be amazing. Between them & the French Friday I'll be a stone heavier by Sunday 🤦🏼‍♀️

Good morning all

I don't know what's going on with my scales today, first time I got on them this morning, they registered 16st 10.2 which just isn't possible, I was 17st 1 yesterday, so I zero'd them again and got on a second time, 16st 12.4 which is closer to what I expected, but still seemed too low. Zero'd them a third time and got back on, stil 16st 12.4, so I guess that's right and I'm very happy if a little unbelieving.

Dinner last night was Spicy Peanut Chicken Noodles, which was very nice, cooked by my son which was even nicer. He needed a few pointers along the way, but generally did a commendable job Smile

If anyone is curious the charity provides boxes of kindness to people going through chemotherapy in the local area. Things include pill pots snacks puzzles and games some pamper products head scarves etc.

Morning everyone!!

Hope you're all well! Well done on the losses, I'm still staying off the scales as I know I haven't lost and seeing my weight at 14 stones is really depressing!!

Swimming was great this morning, 30 lengths in 30 minutes! 👊 didn't do the normal 40 minutes as DP is off to the office today so the extra 10 minutes really made a difference with the school and nursery run.

I've got a free house today and a chore list as long as my arm so my declaration today is....

IM NOT GOING TO SNACK TODAY!!

There!! Now I've declared it, I have to stick to it!! 🤣

I really need to keep my face out of the cupboards and fridge so I've had a good hearty breakfast of eggs, half an avocado, 1 slice of thick ham and sliced beef tomato sprinkled with lots of pepper and chilli flakes!! It was lovely so 1 more coffee, finish watch And Just Like That then off I go keeping my face out of the cupboards!!
