Following on from January Thread 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Thanks everyone. It's actually my daughter.

Rewis · 28/01/2022 13:21

Picture of my lunching out outfit(minus the dog!) attached.
Happy birthday!! I almost commented that I'd love to have the dog with my outfit but that gave a bit of Cruella DeVille vibes. I just mean that the dog is so cute and I want to pet it!

MyAnacondaMight · 28/01/2022 13:22

That’s great @buzzofthebumblebee - so close! Hopefully you’ll see that 2 stone next week. That’s basically what a 2 year old weighs!

SunshineCake1 · 28/01/2022 13:23

Happy birthday @Recycledblonde. I think your dog should be attached.

I am reading all your posts but I just can't focus to respond. I am sorry. DD is going back to university tonight. Dh and I were awake half the night. He has just gone to get our youngest from school and some groceries. We are a tag team to make sure someone is always here. I feel on edge. Can't breathe. Feel like the minute she goes with dh to go to get the train I'll be on edge and I'm terror.

My bloods came back. I am menopausal which is fine but I have had to have another test so waiting on that though thankfully it isn't anything serious.

I'm just struggling. Sad. Worried. Scared. Desperate. Blaming myself as I have depression a lot. Just can't face the blame that will come. Just terrified.

SunshineCake1 · 28/01/2022 13:28

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee. Sorry to hear you've had experience too. I'm reading posts but missing so much of what is being said, even in the same post, so apologies if I have missed anything important from anyone.

Crazzzycat · 28/01/2022 14:28

Happy birthday @Recycledblonde 🥳

Great news on that loss and on being able to squeeze yourself into those jeans @buzzofthebumblebee. I’m out of clothes I can shrink into, but that kind of thing kept me going for a long time.

I’ve just worked my way through a bowl of horrible homemade soup. I made it last week and didn’t like it then, so stuck most of it in the freezer. Problem is, I can’t keep it in there forever 😂 On a more positive note, it’s full of green things, so must have done me some good. I just need to plan a more exciting dinner to make up for it.

Zalen · 28/01/2022 14:40

Happy birthday @Recycledblonde

@SunshineCake1, sorry you have such a lot going on at the moment. Thinking of you and your family.

8stone13 · 28/01/2022 15:08

@buzzofthebumblebee & @TheRealHousewife Thank you for your kind words. It's hard especially as a single Mum but I just keep on keeping on really. I had amazing grandparents & honestly although it must sound crass I remember their brilliant attitude in life & try to channel their Blitz Spirit.

@SunshineCake1 Apologies, that was my mistake, I was sure I'd read DS but I probably read DH, plus it's a DS with me so my mind automatically goes there IYSWIM. I'm glad your husband is there to support you. Again my flowers didn't work in my last post so here there are Thanks Don't feel you need to respond or even keep up with the thread - just pop in whenever you want to 🙂

SunshineCake1 · 28/01/2022 16:58

Thanks everyone.

Took doggy out for a walk as I told my second oldest friend about dd and was losing the plot a bit. She's leaving soon and then the worry and terror and not being able to breathe starts.

In the spirit of the thread I'm logging two walks and 18592 steps so far today.

SunshineCake1 · 28/01/2022 17:22

DH and DD have left. I feel sick and tearful as well as not being able to breathe properly.

Recycledblonde · 28/01/2022 17:59

@SunshineCake1 ((((Hugs)))) to you. I know, both from personal and professional experience, how difficult it is. Please look after yourself too.FlowersFlowers

Katiepants27 · 28/01/2022 19:56

I finally managed to break the chocolate biscuit addiction, and have actually done 5 days tracking everything on mfp.

Have lost 0.5lbs when I stood on the scales this morning, not v motivating but better than 0.5lbs gained I guess?

The correlation between mental effort and weight loss seems very unfair, but nonetheless I will plod on.

TheRealHousewife · 28/01/2022 20:43

Its great your back on track @Katiepants27 and like you say better a loss than a gain :)

Great step count @SunshineCake1 and I know you've said before exercise helps your mental health. Sending a hug.

Thank you @Recycledblonde and I'm sorry you've had experience.

Thanks for the hug @TheRealHousewife. Dh and I have lost the plot. We've had wine, baileys, crisps. Haven't drunk in months so gone to my head. broke my heart seeing him cry.

8stone13 · 28/01/2022 22:50

Well I've eaten wonderful food tonight & will probably be eleventy stone tomorrow but it was worth it! I was pleased to find my 'going out' clothes were significantly looser when I put them on tonight 👏🏻

8stone13 · 29/01/2022 11:15

Day 28 - Sat 29th Jan - 9s 4 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.3

A pound put on overnight - damn that French restaurant 😀

Chinese with friends tonight so goodness knows what I'll weigh tomorrow 😬

Back to being sensible from Sunday onwards 👍🏻

buzzofthebumblebee · 29/01/2022 11:57

Salty + delicious food doesn't count so much in my books @8stone13 especially when you are having a nice time out with friends (and sounds like you deserve it too). It's the unnecessary biscuits crisps and rubbish at home on your own that is not needed. So go out and enjoy. Mind you Chinese is really sugary as well as salty. Especially my favourite (shredded crispy chilli beef).

It's a gorgeous day where I am today, been on lovely dog walk, my DH and DS both out doing their stuff, so I am going to the shops for a lovely long mooch about. I'm wearing a big smile. So proud of myself for my weight loss. I wanted to reach 50 next month being fit & fabulous not fat & frumpy. Thank you @TheRealHousewife and everyone else. Could not have done it without this wonderfully supportive thread.

@Katiepants27 - huge well done on quitting chocolate biscuits, and 5 days logging. Totally agree on how frustrating it is to put so much into not eating with little loss on the scales. But do stick with it. It IS so worth it.

Oh @SunshineCake1 - your poor girl in torment (sorry I thought DS too). And you too. She's brave to go back to Uni - and you're brave to let her go. It's utterly heartbreaking. But quit with the guilt on your part, if there is any. I was racked with it, I couldn't hide mine, and it didn't help my DD. They need the focus to be about them. Pure, unconditional love, no advice, just open ears and open heart, no judgement. Hope she has a god support network at Uni and friends / tutor that can look out for her. And don't be scared about opening -up to your friends too. Sending love.

Zalen · 29/01/2022 12:24

Good morning.

16st 12.2 on the scales this morning so all looking very positive. Pizza and ice-cream tonight, I'll try to be sensible. My son and I went for a walk yesterday evening, 2.48 miles, was hoping to go out and explore some today, but it's a howling gale out there so I'm staying in where it's warm.

SunshineCake1 · 29/01/2022 12:38

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee. She has no idea how we feel. We've just shown support. Flowers

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 29/01/2022 12:40

Hi all,
So sorry I’ve not been around. Life got really hectic and just haven’t had much time to be online.

But, I’m pleased to report a total January loss of 12lb. Despite the odd blip, I’m very happy with that. Next weigh in is Friday, so hoping to start February off with a good loss too.

Hope everyone is well.

8stone13 · 29/01/2022 12:56

@hopingforabrighterfuture2021 That's excellent, well done 👏🏻

@buzzofthebumblebee You've hit the nail on the head there, it's just the conclusion I've been coming to. I need to stop the chocolate snacking at home which has crept back, & save the calories up for more focused treats. When I was actively losing weight at the start of this month I cut it all out & I felt so much better. When I had some on a Saturday night I enjoyed it far more. That's the tack I need to take. I know I can do it as I've cut my 2 large hot chocolates with cream per day down to 1 regular hot chocolate with no cream & after a while I haven't missed it. I'm such a chocolate & sugar addict 😬

I forgot to say I smiled at your reference to Slinky Malinki yesterday too - DS loved all the Hairy Maclary books 😀

Youdoyoutoday · 29/01/2022 17:39

@hopingforabrighterfuture2021 OMG!! That's amazing!! Well done you!!

Not gonna lie, I'm incredibly jealous 😫

I weighed in this morning and I'm up 14 stone 2lbs!! So going in the wrong direction despite working out 5 times a week!!

Also did an extra bootcamp session this morning and walked loads today, about 16,500 steps so hoping that's at least worked off our antipasti lunch we had today.

Will be sticking my note back on the cupboard this week to keep me out of it and cut out the booze again!! Bloody Christmas! I was doing so well until then and since then I can't seem to get back on track even though I'm exercising loads!!

Oh well, new week, fresh start!

SunshineCake1 · 30/01/2022 10:55

Well done @hopingforabrighterfuture2021. Think I'm the only 🐢🐢member now Grin.

I went on the treadmill this morning. Only 3km but faster. Tbh I can't think of anything but my DD and also my friend who came round last night as her h hit her.

Sorry I'm not contributing much. Can't get hold of dd and just worried scared and exhausted as dh and I aren't sleeping well.

buzzofthebumblebee · 30/01/2022 11:09

Continued thoughts with you @SunshineCake1 So pleased to hear you are taking time for you still, and you got on the treadmill. Anything is great, especially a brisk 3km.

Great loss @hopingforabrighterfuture2021 and glad you are doing well too @Zalen

Sorry your weight loss has stalled despite all the exercise & extra steps. That must be very frustrating. Either it is all turning to muscle, or your food is hiding secret calories if you are tracking closely. Very strange, and frustrating.

The scales said 11 stone 2 lbs this morning so I am officially 2 stone down from my start weight. Yipppeeee!!

I have celebrated by going on a 10km run, and we're going out with family for Sunday lunch. Still 2 more days Dry Jan so I'll stick to sparkling water - boring - but that will help stop me totally undoing all my good work!

Hope all OK and no-one too bothered by the big storms (a beautiful blue sky sunny day where I am) . Enjoy your sundays.
