I lost 10lb at the back end of last year… weighed myself this morning and I’ve put on just over 8lb over Christmas! I don’t even feel like I overate that much. I blame the baileys.

Anyway, today is a new start, going to get that weight back off and lose another stone on top.

MFP is my friend again and today shall be somewhat of a fasting day as I’ve got so much to do and feel horribly bloated.
Day 4 of no alcohol, going to keep that going for as long as possible as it’s empty calories and my evening wine was becoming far too much.

SW - 10st 8.8lb
GW - 9st

Goal weight for now is back to 10st.

Feel free to join or at least wish me luck 😬

Your food always sounds so delicious and healthy slinky

I’ve just finished using up all the old veg to make a chicken stew/soup in the slow cooker. Wrote down all the weights as I was putting it in so I can work out the correct calories 🙈 but that should last me a few days so I’ve got no excuse!
Looking forward to getting back on track.
All this calorific food sounds good at the time but it never makes you feel good for long does it?

I want to get back to feeling good in my clothes. I was getting there before Xmas but now I feel horribly uncomfortable and my face looks very puffy!

I know I keep saying the same old thing and then being inconsistent but I’m feeling better and in the zone now Grin

Glad you’re in the zone MrsH - let’s see how we all do at weigh in this week.
I do think I’ve been making a good effort with recipes and more veg since I started. I usually rely on lots of comfort foods that I know the kids like, so spag bol, cheese laden pasta bakes, cottage pie, chips etc. Last night instead of dumping in a jar of pasta bake sauce, I made the effort to think of a healthier alternative to avoid all the salt and sugar they add to those jars. So I fried a chopped onion and courgette in some olive oil, used 2 tins of chopped tomatoes, some herbs, added some leftover chicken and then about half a tub of cream cheese. Mixed in the cooked wholewheat penne and that served the 4 of us, plus I’ve got enough for a lunch tomorrow. It was delicious, and my DH even commented on it. Got to be a lot healthier than a creamy tomato sauce jar and then a load of cheese sprinkled on top.

I’m going to try the Fast 800 mushroom pizza (it’s portobello mushrooms topped with tomato purée and cheese I think) and the tuna stuffed peppers this week. Also seen a recipe for baked courgettes, again topped with other things. Very low carb, but I will add side portions of carbs for the rest of the family.

KimmyKimdoo · 24/01/2022 12:29

Well done @SingaporeSlinky - I find it so hard when we have stuff in the house for the kids!! @MrsHippopotamus ooh stew sounds lovely!!

I’ve had one waffle and a coffee this morning, then a delicious big red apple I’ve been eyeing up in the fruit bowl 😂 it’s funny how when the other treats go, I’m enjoying the fruit so much more. Work cater for us at lunch so it’s a bit hit and miss but I’ll stick to a very small portion if not too healthy. It’s lovely to have a warm cooked meal served up for free and I never have time to prepare something better anyway. After school I have a melon waiting to be chunked and then it’s cod fillet and broccoli for dinner.

My aim for this week is to do some sort of exercise every day. I’m starting nicely through - just a yoga video tonight in the lounge.

Wednesdayafternoon · 24/01/2022 13:22

@SingaporeSlinky I agree, your meal is always sound so nutritious and healthy. I just don't know why the scales aren't pushing for you and it must be really disheartening. But you know that you're eating healthy and doing everything that you can, sometimes I just think that hormones or fluid intake and have such a factor on our way loss. I bet in a weeks time all of this will have caught up and you will see a big loss.

@MrsHippopotamus today is a new day, and you can get back on it. We aren't always going to do amazingly on a diet because life goes on, but I'm sure that by this time next week you will be feeling so much better of yourself.

I've done well so far today. I am going to have another week at 1200 cal per day. I just really hope that I can see a good loss this week because I do think that I have put a few pounds on over the weekend. Maybe I will weigh myself tomorrow or Wednesday.

SingaporeSlinky · 24/01/2022 20:34

Thanks ladies.
A good day today, lots of water, 2 coffees, scrambled eggs with chives and ketchup for lunch. Dinner was a salad with avocado, walnuts and olives. I bought some radishes on a whim in the supermarket today. Don’t think I’ve ever had them before but they didn’t really taste of much, and I figure they must be super healthy, so added some to my salad. Good to add to my repertoire, gets a bit samey having tomatoes and cucumber on mixed leaves.
Came in under 1200 again.
I’ve also taken the plunge and joined a gym! First session tomorrow.

Wednesdayafternoon · 25/01/2022 09:19

@SingaporeSlinky did you weigh today lovely?
Well done on the gym! I was reading about calorie deficit last night, perhaps you need to eat more calories 🤷🏼‍♀️ it's an interesting theory!

I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 2 pounds I expected it from the weekend and I'm okay with it, hopefully it's just mainly fluid and I can still loose 2 this week and get to 10stone 3!

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 11:54

@Wednesdayafternoon I weighed in this morning at 10st 1. I don’t want to rely on it though (even though I was so happy not to see it as 10st 2 again) because I know I didn’t eat much for dinner. As in, it literally wouldn’t have weighed much, being salad. So I’ll see where I am tomorrow for my official weigh in.
First gym session went well. I walked to school drop off, walked straight to gym, about 20 mins away, did a mixture of cardio and weights for about 50 mins, then walked home. Going again in a few days and might sign up for some aerobics classes.

Sorry about your little blip, but at least you know the reason behind it. It’s only Tuesday so still plenty of time to turn it around this week!

Wednesdayafternoon · 25/01/2022 20:54

@SingaporeSlinky aww thank you lovely. Tbh my weight does fluctuate a lot when I have a binge so I'm hoping it's just fluid/panic weight and will naturally settle these next few days. My plan is to diet really wel during the week and then have a relaxed weekend because well isn't life hard enough 🙈

I'm glad you dropped a pound today! Hopefully things will get moving for you now 😀 what's your goal weight?

Hope everyone has had a good day! 🥰

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2022 21:00

Weds I don’t have an ultimate goal really, I said a stone, so that would take me down to 9st7 but if I get to that and feel like I can carry on, I probably will. I’m hoping the gym sessions kickstart my metabolism a bit, because I really can’t drop any more calories!

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2022 08:17

Morning all. Weighed in at 10st 0 this morning! So looks like the scales are finally shifting again. That’s half a stone in less than 3 weeks so I’m chuffed with that.
Bit achy this morning after first gym session yesterday. I didn’t push myself too much, I figured I shouldn’t go mad the first day because I’d end up really hurting the next day, which could put me off going again.

Wednesdayafternoon · 26/01/2022 08:23

@SingaporeSlinky yay! So pleased the scales are moving! Our bodies work in funny ways don't they ♥️ Hope you have another good day today ☺️

MrsHippopotamus · 26/01/2022 09:52

Wahey! Well done @SingaporeSlinky !
I knew all that hard work would pay off for you!
I’m gutted I never stuck with it strictly enough, I too could’ve dropped half a stone by now 😫
I blame this bloody cold, it’s just will not shift

Anyhoo, Wednesday weigh in results…. 10st 5 😭
Serves me right. Gutted.
But never mind, I managed a half decent day yesterday. Went on a walk this morning and got some healthy bits from the shop.
Might have some porridge for breakfast. Got some stew left for lunch and a salad for dinner (what a mish mash!).
Need to start going to bed earlier too, I definitely don’t get enough sleep and it obviously affects my eating habits.

Well done everyone! I will start posting every day again, need to stay accountable! And it reminds me why I started this thread in the first place.

@MrsHippopotamus that’s only 1lb up though, isn’t it? And you’ve had your period, so could lose some water weight in the next few days. How have you been doing with evening snacking?

Today I’ve got porridge, leftover chicken and veg pasta for lunch, and salad for dinner. I’ve been enjoying salads actually, I’d normally use the cold weather as an excuse to eat warm, comforting meals but I enjoy filling the plate with lots of colours, knowing there’ll be lots of good nutrients in there. Can’t remember if I mentioned, but I’m sort of doing a daily 15 hour fast overnight too. I watched a few Michael Mosley programmes and realised I’m trying to just have water from dinnertime until bedtime anyway, so by the time I have my morning coffee, I’ve been fasting for around 13 hours anyway. Now I’m delaying my coffee until after the school run, and just having water before that. So I look forward to my coffee at about 9am, which is more like 15 hour fasting. Hoping that helps with fat burning, plus it’s apparently good for body cell repair too.

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2022 10:18

Thank you Weds and MrsH, by the way.

MrsHippopotamus · 26/01/2022 10:24

I know it’s only 1lb, could’ve been a lot worse. But I’m suppose to be losing weight, not gaining it 😆
Hopefully you’re right about the water weight and time of the month, forgot to take that into consideration actually.

I too am a salad lover (you’d never think it the way I’ve been carrying on!). I love eating a good volume of food and I can fill my plate full of so much salad and enjoy it all.
I’ve actually not been too bad with the evening snacking. Strangely I’ve realised that the earlier I eat my dinner, the less I snack in the evening.
Going to try your approach and fast completely throughout the evenings. I did that last year and it made a huge difference to weight loss.

Wednesdayafternoon · 26/01/2022 10:33

Guys I've been allowing myself a options mint hot chocolate in the evening and that really settled my cravings and fills the void!

KimmyKimdoo · 26/01/2022 16:54

Well done on that weight loss @SingaporeSlinky ! I’ve fallen into an accidental 13 hour fast as well as just not been having time to grab my breakfast - I think I may keep it going and extend it to 16 hours which would mean stopping eating at 7pm and skipping my fourth small meal (and having three instead like everyone anyone 🤣) and then having my “breakfast” at 11am when we usually stop for a coffee break. I’ll only be able to grab a piece of fruit or something and no toasters at work for my usual waffle but maybe that’s a good thing.

Today I’ve had a pear at 11am, one coffee then some roasted veggies at lunch, this evening I’m having rice cakes, hummus, saucisson, lots of sliced sweet peppers and then an apple. I’ll just have hot water and fresh lime then.

Been running around a lot at work and keeping busy and on my feet all day long. This evening I’m determined to do 20 mins of tabata training once the DC are in bed. Straight away, no excuses it’s only 20 minutes and it’s in my lounge! Then a shower and relax with my hot water 😆 Good luck all!!

TalkToTheHand123 · 26/01/2022 17:56

Went on the scales this morning and.......4 lbs loss Shock.

I'm trying to work it out. I think it's because I've been busy on a morning and forgetting to eat until early afternoon. I'll try keep to this and hopefully the scales will be nice to me next time too.

TalkToTheHand123 · 26/01/2022 17:56

Forgot to mention may dabble with a nightime chocolate drink too.

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2022 17:58

Well done @TalkToTheHand123 you must be so pleased with that!

MrsHippopotamus · 26/01/2022 18:17

@TalkToTheHand123 fantastic loss!! Well done 👍 keeping busy is definitely the key.

@Wednesdayafternoon ooh I’d forgot about options hot choc… got some in the cupboard. Might have one tonight instead of the usual cup of tea.

I’ve stuck to plan all day today. I’ve had such a bad headache and nearly caved to sugar/crisps at about 4pm but I’m so glad I didn’t!
Going to have my salad for dinner now and revel in the fact I didn’t undo todays hard work 😬

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2022 19:05

Well done MrsH, the cravings do pass, I think it just takes time to get it out of your system. Careful the hot chocolate doesn’t give you a sweet tooth and make you want more!
Sorry you had a headache though, so you think it’s from your cold, or diet related?

KimmyKimdoo · 26/01/2022 20:14

@TalkToTheHand123 wow that’s amazing well done!!

@MrsHippopotamus ahh 4pm is my danger zone too - good for you!!!

Wednesdayafternoon · 26/01/2022 21:35

Well done all sounds like you're doing amazingly! Anyone weighing in tomorrow?

I feel like I'm really lacking on my water so I've just downed a litre an hour before I plan on going to bed.... we all know how this is going to end 😂🙈

Wednesdayafternoon · 27/01/2022 07:52

Ok so never drink a litre of water before bed guys, it's just not a good idea 😀

Weighed in today and I'm at 10stone 4.4 which means I've lost 9lbs! Absolutely buzzing about that. Hoping I can loose another pound before Saturday so that's 2 off my weight last week (although the loss is more because I put a couple on!). I think 2 per week is a good target.

Hope you all have a good day!
