I lost 10lb at the back end of last year… weighed myself this morning and I’ve put on just over 8lb over Christmas! I don’t even feel like I overate that much. I blame the baileys.

Anyway, today is a new start, going to get that weight back off and lose another stone on top.

MFP is my friend again and today shall be somewhat of a fasting day as I’ve got so much to do and feel horribly bloated.
Day 4 of no alcohol, going to keep that going for as long as possible as it’s empty calories and my evening wine was becoming far too much.

SW - 10st 8.8lb
GW - 9st

Goal weight for now is back to 10st.

Feel free to join or at least wish me luck 😬

@SingaporeSlinky

Thank you Wednesday, I hope you’re right. You were saying before that it’s hard to see a gain after just one heavy meal or one off-plan day. It doesn’t seem fair, does it.

I keep thinking about how I’ll maintain the weight loss long term. If one takeaway and a few chocolates has made me gain weight, how little will I have to eat going forward? I’m already on two meals a day, I can’t drop any more!

I’ve got a jug of water next to me, but I keep peeing too. Taking it as a good sign though.

Maybe it's about thinking of your weight as a weekly thing and accepting there might be little blips of up and down. Before my second when I was at a great weight with SW my maintaining it was just that. I always had the weekend off and took the hit mon and ties but by Wednesday I was back to normal! Not working for me so much now though a s I don't go to the gym 😳 But that's what I would like to get back to!
SingaporeSlinky · 28/02/2022 14:08

I did read somewhere that slim people do that naturally, if they’ve had a heavy dinner, they’ll just not eat breakfast and maybe lunch the next day, and just back to a normal dinner, or salad or whatever, to balance it out.

I guess as long as the weekly weigh in stays the same, it doesn’t matter if the scales have gone up and down a little in between.

Morning all and welcome to March!

I managed to drink loads of water yesterday, back down to 9st 12 today.
I came in at 1000 cals yesterday and aiming for the same today. Need to really push myself to get this weight moving again. Did a spin class and then an hour in the gym this morning. Had my coffee, Greek yoghurt, granola and fruit and seeds. Dinner is slow-cooker chicken and roasted Mediterranean veg.

Goal for March is to get to 9st 7

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2022 13:00

Starting to feel a bit lonely on this thread!

Had an unplanned (but still healthy) meal between my late breakfast/early lunch and dinner yesterday as I was ravenous. Probably from the gym. So had 2 cheese, bacon and egg muffins. Still came in around 1200 cals for the day. I think I need to delay my first meal to actual lunch time, because I’ve started getting home and drinking a coffee and eating straight away, even though I’m not necessarily hungry then. So today I had my coffee when I got home around 11am. Just had 3 eggs scrambled at around 12.45. Hoping that’ll see me through to dinner. Going to try courgette lasagne today (strips of courgette layered on the bolognese, with cheese topping) instead of the pasta version.

Weighed in at 9st 9 3/4 this morning, so the damage from the Chinese takeaway has been flushed out I think!

Did a gym class this morning, and an extra hour on the equipment. Spoke to a PT and have booked a session with him for next week to look at my plan and goals. He himself lost 6 stone, and said the key is maintenance, because it’s not realistic to say you’ll do 15,000 steps every day for the rest of your life. So will be interesting to hear how he manages it.

Wednesdayafternoon · 02/03/2022 15:07

Aww yes see I knew that you would do it! I think that's just how it works sometimes. I'm a great believer that every now and again you just need a little break to give your body a rest and a bit of a shock to the system and in the weight soon comes off. My problem is I just do it too frequently ha ha.
I know I've been saying it for a few weeks, but I'm in a little bit of a rut. My pcos is really affecting me at the moment. I'm either having an extremely long cycle or I have missed my period this month and it's just having a big toll on my hormones. I'm currently on cycle day 42 so I'm feeling all kind of emotions and cravings right now! I really don't want it to sound like an excuse, but it is just what it is so I just need to ride the wave and try make the best decisions whilst dealing with the symptoms of this. Today when I went into work I left my water bottle at home which I was so annoyed about, so soon as I get home I feel like I'm gonna have to down drink a big litre of water or something to make up for it!
Just going to have something very light for tea tonight and hopefully feel fresh for the weekend!

SingaporeSlinky · 02/03/2022 17:27

Aw Wednesday, hope it settles itself soon. Pre menstrual cravings are tough at the best of times.
Dont go mad on the water or you’ll be up all night! I’d drink a normal amount this evening and just try and have loads tomorrow.

Wednesdayafternoon · 02/03/2022 21:13

@SingaporeSlinky I think for me I get more emotional then have cravings and I'm 100% and emotional eater! I've got my lunch and breakfast ready for tomorrow though. Overnight oats with blueberry and strawberry and then a whole meal lotta with tuna Mayo sweetcorn and salad! Tea is something very so I'm in just a few calories over 1200 when you take into consideration drinks etc!

Hope you enjoy your PT session! As always I'm so jealous of your gym life!

Wednesdayafternoon · 02/03/2022 21:13

Whole meal pitta*

TalkToTheHand123 · 03/03/2022 19:13

Check me out. Went to the gym! Really sore arm though. 4lbs down to 15 and a half stone. I've been doing 10 mins on the wii running for last three nights. Hope this means I'm on track.

SingaporeSlinky · 03/03/2022 19:22

Well done @TalkToTheHand123! Great loss, is that this week?

TalkToTheHand123 · 03/03/2022 19:49

I think so. I've been using the wii balance board only to try motivate me. I enjoyed the gym so should be able to stick to it.

SingaporeSlinky · 03/03/2022 20:54

That’s great, I’ve been spending 2 hours a day at the gym since Monday, which is definitely not sustainable. But I enjoy the classes, and I’m doing the extra afterwards just to help see a loss on the scales quickly really.

How often do you think you’ll go to the gym @TalkToTheHand123?

9st 9 1/4 this morning.

I woke up at 4.45am which is very unusual for me, and when I couldn’t get back to sleep I thought I might as well get up and do something so I ended up cooking some pasta for the kids packed lunch and put some sausage rolls in the oven at 5.30 😂
Had a coffee before the gym for a change, as I’d been up for hours and thought I’d need a bit of energy. Lunch was yoghurt, granola and raspberries. Dinner was leftover chicken and a papaya and avocado salad. I’m just under 1000 cals for the day.

TalkToTheHand123 · 04/03/2022 13:39

I'm hoping twice a week. Thursdays and Fridays alfhough I'm a bit sore today and did quite a lot of walking this morning while doing a bit of shopping.

10 mins on the nintendo wii and got top time! I'm focussing more on fitness at the moment, while just trying to be good foodwise. Stocked up on a lot of soup.

I'm thinking of weighing myself weekly on a Sunday night.

SingaporeSlinky · 04/03/2022 13:52

I was definitely sore after my first 3 or 4 gym sessions!

9st 8 this morning! It’s falling off me this week, but I really need to start working on toning up now. I tried using heavier weights on the barbell during a class but found it too hard and gave up when my arms started shaking and I couldn’t maintain the correct technique. I’ll try again next week though as I think heavier weights will be the key to toning, rather than cardio.

Have a good weekend everyone @Wednesdayafternoon, @MrsHippopotamus @TalkToTheHand123 and anyone else still reading!

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/03/2022 08:59

Aww enjoy, you too. Hopefully I'll be ok by next Thursday lol.

Wednesdayafternoon · 07/03/2022 05:24

Hi all I'm back!
I had an awful week last week as I was so unwell. We've all had colds and my boys were so out of sorts with it. Sorry it tmi but I also developed thrush (😭) which I always really struggle tk get rid of when it occurs so that's been super stressful and then because of all the illnesses my eczema as flared up really badly! Also week six and no period! So it's safe to say not in the mood to diet! BUT I am off work this week and have nice plans this weekend which I don't want to feel like a whale for so we must move on! 🥰

SingaporeSlinky · 07/03/2022 13:50

Welcome back @Wednesdayafternoon sorry you’ve had a hard week, but enjoy your time off.

I stayed on track all weekend, still 9st 8
Did a legs, bums and tums class this morning, followed by 30 mins on the treadmill. Did a little steeper incline and a little faster, so by the end it said I’d burned over 200 cals.

Lunch today is Greek yoghurt, granola, raspberries, flax and chia seeds.
Dinner is butternut squash fettuccine

Have a nice week everyone!

SingaporeSlinky · 08/03/2022 11:25

I’m officially a stone lighter, woohoo 😀
9st 7 today

Spin class, followed by 15 mins on the cross trainer. Need to go food shopping so left earlier than usual, plus spin class always takes the energy out of me!

The butternut squash recipe (a waitrose one I found online) was delicious last night, I just substituted the fettuccine for brown rice noodles. I cooked breaded cod for the kids and I had chicken breast on the side.

Usual granola and yoghurt for lunch today.
Dinner will be marinated tuna steak and salad.

Wednesdayafternoon · 08/03/2022 13:41

Wohoo well done @SingaporeSlinky ! You've done amazing to stick to it all so religiously m, I hope you feel proud 🥰
I've had a healthy breakfast and dinner. My some wouldn't eat his cheese wheel I made him so I may or may not have had it... whoops! Oh well o was under cals anyway and will just have a plain omelet with no cheese tonight for tea to make up for it 🙈

SingaporeSlinky · 08/03/2022 14:05

Thank you Wednesday yes I’m very pleased, it’s always nice to see little goals ticked off, so half a stone, then the next stone bracket down, now a full stone. I’m going to keep going right up until holiday to see how much I can get off, still got over 4 weeks.

Hope you’re feeling better too.

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/03/2022 08:23

4 lbs up the other day. A bit shocked, confused and disappointed. Just weighed now at my lightest possible time and finally under the 15 and a half mark for the first time in years.

Decided to sign up with the local leisure centre as there is one near work which I may go to also, if not then the twice a week near home to get my moneys worth. It doesnt feel a chore when I'm there, quite enjoyable. So hopefully can finally start shifting some propper weight.

Wednesdayafternoon · 12/03/2022 08:36

@TalkToTheHand123 aww bless you that must've been a. Shock, so have you dropped the pounds again?
I think exercise is absolutely key to being successful. I know that you can lose weight through diet alone, but I think the exercising just brings along so much extra motivation to stick at it. To be honest I think that's why I'm seem to be failing so much. I've always done so well on diets and remain in Healthy eating in the past, but I've also always been able to take myself to the gym so where is at the moment I just don't have time to do it!

TalkToTheHand123 · 13/03/2022 12:47

I've been fluctuating between 15 and a half stone and 16 and a half stone. I've never been under 15 and a half stone for years from what I recall.

My diet has never been great but I used to be quite active. Since stopping smoking and driving, I've not been so active.

I'm hoping to get on the treadmill for 10 mins then 10 mins on the wii tonight after 8pm shift finishing.

I'm just on soups and brown bread during work times 8am to 8pm 4 days a week. Plan is to be a bit more adventurous with meals as I'm getting a bit bored and a bit jealous when others are bringing in fancy food or having takeaways.

I'm thinking smooth yoghurts and weetabix drinks may help battle my desire for non stop feasting. I found some wide top soup containers which I could use.

SingaporeSlinky · 14/03/2022 13:04

Hi all, I fear we’ve lost @MrsHippopotamus but if you’re still reading, I hope you’re doing ok. Don’t give up!

I’m plodding along at 9st 7

Had a very naughty few days at the end of last week, it was time of the month and I felt like I had no energy (to the point of yawning through classes at the gym). Ended up bingeing on chocolate and crisps and just couldn’t help myself. Haven’t done that in a long time.

Back to it today, gym this morning for a class and then extra time on cross trainer, weights and treadmill.

Wednesdayafternoon · 14/03/2022 13:28

@SingaporeSlinky ahhh it happens and it doesn't sound like the big he has had a negative impact, thankfully!

Well I am starting completely over. Had a horrendous few weeks for one reason and another. Drawing a line in the sand completely and starting completely fresh today! No thinking back and feeling bad. New day and new goals :)

I bought a new coat which fits but a tiny bit snug around my bum and I want it to fit 🙈🙈🙈

I've had overnight oats and a chicken salad and some hula hoop pufts. I've got tomato soup and a slice of bread palmed for tea. I'm on track to have a low cal and carb day today according to MFP :)
