I lost 10lb at the back end of last year… weighed myself this morning and I’ve put on just over 8lb over Christmas! I don’t even feel like I overate that much. I blame the baileys.

Anyway, today is a new start, going to get that weight back off and lose another stone on top.

MFP is my friend again and today shall be somewhat of a fasting day as I’ve got so much to do and feel horribly bloated.
Day 4 of no alcohol, going to keep that going for as long as possible as it’s empty calories and my evening wine was becoming far too much.

SW - 10st 8.8lb
GW - 9st

Goal weight for now is back to 10st.

Feel free to join or at least wish me luck 😬

Guys I have a confession to make. I had 3 x 1 finger twix’s 😩
It got to 3pm and I just really fancied one, but once I’d had one I quickly wanted another. Then I did the school run, and had another 😭
This is why I have to cut all snacks, because once I got the taste, I couldn’t stop. Ugh. I’ve tried to limit the damage by not having noodles with my stir fry dinner.

I know it’s not the end of the world, and I know it’s not going to actually make me gain weight tomorrow, but I do feel guilty. I’ll try and do extra gym time on Monday 😆

Cheesecakedelight · 04/02/2022 20:46

@SingaporeSlinky you are not alone, 2 kitkats and a freddo bar here whilst waiting for my tea! I could kick myself now, but I'm the same once I've had a taste I can't stop!

Wednesdayafternoon · 04/02/2022 20:48

@SingaporeSlinky oh I'm jelous of your twix! I LOVE a twix, so nice 🥰 I hope you enjoyed every bite!
I managed to fit a penguin into my calories today and it was incredible 😍

Wednesdayafternoon · 04/02/2022 20:49

@Cheesecakedelight ahhh jelous of your chocolate too! I am SUCH a chocolate girl. I could literally live off it alone!

Cheesecakedelight · 04/02/2022 20:53

I love chocolate @Wednesdayafternoon, its my downfall! I prefer it when its been in the fridge, which is why I'm currently keeping it it the cupbord but that still didn't stop me tonight!

SingaporeSlinky · 04/02/2022 20:58

Ok I don’t feel so bad now. Fingers crossed the scales are ok tomorrow, part of me knows it can’t translate to added weight gain overnight, but part of me is anxious about it, just in case 🤪

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/02/2022 07:39

Found a big packet of mini double deckers the other day. Managing to avoid binging...so far.

SingaporeSlinky · 05/02/2022 08:31

Talk I’ve got a pack of snacksize milky ways in the drawer for the kids, but luckily I don’t like them, so it’s no temptation.
The twix was another story 😋
1/4 lbs down this morning so I’m fine 🙂

Wednesdayafternoon · 07/02/2022 09:48

Good morning all!

Back on plan today, how are you all?
Whose still following 🙈

SingaporeSlinky · 07/02/2022 11:43

Morning Wednesday how was your weekend?

Weighed in at 9st 12 today so I’m 9lbs down now!
Been to a gym class this morning and just had a small bowl of porridge with a grated apple and cinnamon, plus a coffee with honey.

Dinner will be salad bag with tomatoes, cucumber, grated carrot, avocado, walnuts, cashews, olives and dressing.

After my twix confession on Friday I also had a 4 finger kitkat yesterday, just because I fancied one. I really enjoyed it and it only slightly took me over my 1200 cals because I hadn’t had lunch.

Anyone got any goals for the week? I’m booked into a spin class tomorrow and another class Thursday, I might also do a general gym session on Wednesday or Friday to ease my guilt from the chocolate 🙂

Wednesdayafternoon · 07/02/2022 11:55

@SingaporeSlinky ahhh that's amazing well done you!!!
I think I'm coming up to the part of my cycle where my weight tends to fluctuate abit, I was at 10stone 2 up until yesterday when I was 10stone 1 but I was very hungry when I weighed in so in reality I was probably still 9stone 2.
I had a Day off yesterday and I really needed it.
I really do love my food and I've felt that I'm getting abit fed up feeling so restricted with minimal calories! On Saturday I really wanted to take my boys out for dinner but felt I couldn't so we spent most of the day inside because of the weather and I felt really down about that! But on the positive I stayed in plan all week and back on it today :)
My goal for the week is 10stone, my overall goal is 9stone 11!
Not sure if I'll make this week though as I appear to be at a stale mate but I will try my best nonetheless!

SingaporeSlinky · 07/02/2022 12:17

Thanks Weds, yes I know what you mean. I went to a big shopping centre over the weekend and got lots of food smells walking past McD’s, Starbucks, Wagamamas etc. Not that I had them very often before, but I wouldn’t really have thought twice if I’d wanted to get one. As I walked past Starbucks I thought I could have just gone for a caramel frappuccino. Then I started thinking well, I can’t deny myself forever, as I enjoy those things, but it has to just be a once in a while treat. Not a weekly treat. I think in future I’ll just be careful about building it into my calories, so a calorific drink like that would need to be instead of lunch, say, not as well as. Or have a very light dinner that day. At my height, I just can’t get away with those sorts of calories, unless once in a blue moon.
Also, as I’m trying to lose weight fairly quickly for a holiday, I can’t be giving in to those sorts of things only 4 weeks in. Maybe later on when I’m trying to maintain the weight loss, I can relax a bit more. I do think it’s part of the reason I had a kitkat when I got home though, because I’d been wrestling with all that in my head. It was 209 cals, and I thought it’s not too bad, and I knew I was going to the gym today. I just need to be careful as that’s 2 bars of chocolate in 3 days now. So no more this week!

I had a new workout top on in the gym today and because of the spotlights shining down, it looked very unforgiving on the tummy! I scanned the room in the mirror and everyone else looked the same though, which was a relief. But I still have a lot of weight to lose in that area!

Wednesdayafternoon · 07/02/2022 14:22

@SingaporeSlinky well done you for being so determined and focused! You're smashing it!

SingaporeSlinky · 07/02/2022 14:32

Thank you!

Where would you have liked to have taken your boys for dinner? I’m wondering if you could do it next weekend and just check out the healthiest menu choices before you go, or just have whatever you’d normally have and just build it into the day’s calories somehow?

A friend said to me today that she sticks by her rule of, she’ll have treats only if she’s been to the gym that week, and if she hasn’t been going, then she can’t have the treat. It’s not a bad way of looking at it, I thought. So enjoy your dinner out, but make sure you stick to the plan the rest of the week. Which is pretty much what you’ve been doing, I think?

You really don’t have much to lose, if you’re 10st 2, you’ve only got 5 lbs left to lose. So it starts to be about how you can maintain that for the long term.

Wednesdayafternoon · 07/02/2022 15:36

I'm not too sure tbh where I wanted to go, just out for dinner and an ice cream somewhere.
I've been well under 9st11 before but I just can't maintain it. It's too less for me to stay at unless I'm dieting all the time and that just makes me so miserable. I'm happy to be just under ten but I feel 9st11 is enough for to have a binge weekend and not creep over 10 🙈
I can diet well during the week so I think I'll find my balance by having more good days then bad! My goal is close but with having pcos it is hard for me to loose weight so could take me a few weeks to get there!
😬

SingaporeSlinky · 08/02/2022 10:41

Morning all, did my first spin class this morning, it was a killer!
I’m making a chorizo and pea risotto tonight with garlic bread, so very carb heavy, and it takes most of my day’s calories. So just having some yoghurt and a banana this morning and that will have to last me until dinner time.

How are you doing @MrsHippopotamus ?

MrsHippopotamus · 08/02/2022 11:19

Hello all! I’m still here, plodding on! Obviously didn’t stick to my pledge of posting everyday but I’ve just caught up on the thread. Massive well done to you all, you’re doing great!

I’ve been doing… ok 😬 I’ve been bobbing between 10st 2 and 10st 4. I blame the weekend.
We actually had a date night out on Saturday, incredibly rare for us so I allowed my self to enjoy it!
Didn’t go too mad food wise, but we ordered a dessert to share…. It was massive!! Ended up taking it home and it lasted us both 2 days! 😂
It’s all gone now so no temptation is left. Went shopping this morning and bought all the healthy essentials. I’ve refused to buy crisps/chocolate/biscuits. If it’s not there, I can’t eat it.
I’m only buying a few treats for the kids, I can’t eat most of it anyway because they contain gluten. So that’s that.

Really want to get below 10st now. I loooved getting dressed up at the weekend and just thought how much more I’d enjoy it if I was more body confident 😆
No more nights out planned so no excuse to not buckle down

Well done @MrsHippopotamus that’s still 5 or 6lbs down isn’t it, so that’s great! It’s only been a month, so you must be doing something right! Glad you enjoyed your date night, one night off plan won’t hurt.

I love doing a healthy food shop, I feel very smug filling my trolley with loads of fruit and veg.

MrsHippopotamus · 08/02/2022 13:19

I’m happy enough I suppose @SingaporeSlinky
Not going to lie, I do feel a bit frustrated with myself as I know I could’ve done so much better. But I only have myself to blame! Tbf, that cold I had really knocked me off track a few times, it lasted for weeks. Onwards & downwards now 🤞

You’ve been absolutely smashing it! Bet you feel loads better. I really need to get back into exercise

OP posts:
SingaporeSlinky · 08/02/2022 13:32

It’s so hard when you don’t feel well. At least you’re making progress, it doesn’t matter if it’s a bit slower than planned.
It took me a while to get in the zone, but I’m definitely there now. I just feel lighter, more energy, exercising is slightly easier, I don’t mind walking now, whereas before I’d have nipped in the car. Once I’ve done a 45 minute class at the gym, the 25 minute walk home seems easy now. I feel like I’m making much healthier food choices overall, and more dinners from scratch without looking in the freezer for the quickest beige option.

I’m even more hopeful to keep it up long term, because if I can do it in this weather, walking to the gym in a heavy coat, hat and gloves, then I’ve no excuse once it warms up in spring and summer.

SingaporeSlinky · 08/02/2022 19:12

Today was hard. The risotto I made for dinner was logged at over 1100 cals! When my total for the day is meant to be 1200, it didn’t leave much. Between the risotto rice, chorizo sausage, oil, butter, cheese, plus garlic bread, everything was so calorific, I won’t be cooking it again for a while! I had built it in this morning, luckily, so only had a coffee, yoghurt and banana the rest of the day. But after my spin class this morning, it was very hard not to eat something more before dinner. I almost reached for a kitkat but resisted.

I’ll be more sensible tomorrow, so I can eat 3 proper meals.

Wednesdayafternoon · 08/02/2022 21:28

@SingaporeSlinky oh my goodness you poor thing I don't know who you made it to yea time with eating so little ♥️
I hope you're ok, do make sure you're not being too hard on yourself lovely! Treats every now and again are absolutely fine and completely necessary
Your tea does sound incredible 😍

I've had a good day, and I had a good day yesterday but the scales had something else to say 😥 But it is what it is. It must be fluid as I can't have our weight on when I've eaten so well. Can't wiT until my standstill is over!

SingaporeSlinky · 09/02/2022 14:09

Hi all, sorry I seem to be taking up half this thread! But I like the accountability though.

Went to the gym this morning, treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine and some weights. Not much of each though, didn’t seem to have much energy. Need to start taking my own music as theirs is so quiet, I find it boring just staring at the timer.

My Fitbit stats are saying I’m averaging 2000 cals out per day, including basal rate, gym, and all my steps. Doesn’t seem like much for all the effort, so to get a decent deficit, I really do need to keep at it, and keep to the 1200 eating cals. My weight loss has definitely slowed, I’m sticking at the same numbers for 5-6 days in a row now, which is tough.

Wednesdayafternoon · 09/02/2022 21:33

@SingaporeSlinky oh bless you just remember standstills don't last forever! You will probably go a few days and then have a big loss!

So it's half term next week. I'm gonna try hard on my working days but I'm not restricting myself on days out with the boys! It's no fun for them, or even me 🙈 How are you all feeling about half term?

MrsHippopotamus · 10/02/2022 10:33

Guys… I’m so fed up! Every time I get my head in the zone something comes along and knocks it about! Got kids at home, a sickness & diarrhoea bug has hit… luckily not me. Although it might help along the weight loss if I did get it 😆
Scales not moving 😫 haven’t overeaten much but zero exercise. Seems quite pointless me being on this thread atm!

In other news, I’ve been making egg muffins with chicken, broccoli, spring onion and a tiny bit of cheese, delicious to have in the fridge and so low calorie. Packs in some protein too! Going to make some more today as they’re just so filling.

Not hungry at all this morning so will hold out for something to eat. Hope everyone has a successful day!
