Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

Welcome to all the new folk!!!

@ThinWomansBrain I loved the oats - and used a little maple syrup! Yum

@TaggieWeightLoss if it was the summer I would be heading out the door now for a walk.

But it’s freezing and pitch black. Treadmill arrives in the morning so I will be able to exercise more (and you can all hold me to that promise!).

Finishing today’s eating at 1250 calories.

2.5st to lose for me.
Need to cut back on carbs.

Stargazer89 · 06/01/2022 11:30

Day 5:

Feeling more positive today and meal planned lunch and dinner!

How’s everyone feeling?

Target for rest of the week is to stop snacking. By logging everything, i have realised that so many of my calories are used up by snacking on rubbish.

Still struggling with exercise, looking forward to weekend when hopefully can get some long walks in.

Mellowyellow222 · 06/01/2022 12:24

Hi @Stargazer89. I have been logging food all week and it definitely cuts down in the snacking. I really think about what I am eating and whether it it worth it.

First month is always hard, but I am down four lbs now which is a good start. I know it will slow down after this week - but nice to bank some pounds early on.

First few days going well, did a gym class last night and a 45 minute walk this morning. Big chicken salad for lunch. Had a mid week weigh and it says I've lost 5lbs since Monday although I know most of that will be water weight.

Mellowyellow222 · 06/01/2022 13:00

@dancemom that’s great! What a start to 2022.

I am being careful on portion sizes and weighing food until I get used to to.

I had a tuna wrap for lunch. Realised I a portion is less than half what I previously would have eaten!

I also used to have tow, sometimes four, slices of buttered toast for supper!

And about once a week I treated myself to a small dominos pizza - at 1,000 calories!

No wonder I gained so much weight. It’s shocking when I actually think about it.

I need to lose 2st.

Yesterday was a good day. I was out nearly all day walking 11miles. I had a banana for breakfast then a flapjack midweek and tea, then spag bol for dinner.

Today I've had scrambled on toast and tea. Not sure what's for dinner as daughters birthday so may not be awesome

ThinWomansBrain · 06/01/2022 16:46

I put weight on again :( eating around 1,000 calories a day or less, and being reasonably active. - So 5 days of low calorie sensible eating combined with intermittent fasting and I've only lost 0.2kg. v frustrating.
even losing 10kg is going to take forever at this rate.

TaggieWeightLoss · 06/01/2022 17:59

@ThinWomansBrain - sorry you are discouraged. It’s probably a plateau and you will suddenly start losing again.

Welcome @Chakraleaf and other new joiners!

TaggieWeightLoss · 06/01/2022 18:01

Ok day here. I have stuck to my food routine but not much movement because of the crap weather. No weight loss for a couple of days, probably because it is coming up for time of the month (sorry if that is tmi!)

Stargazer89 · 06/01/2022 18:07

ok day here too. Under on calories at 1200 but not much movement either.

I don’t feel hungry but I want to eat 😫 x

Mellowyellow222 · 06/01/2022 20:43

Ending today on a good note. 50 minutes done on the treadmill so hot my 10,000 steps today.

1,050 calories scoffed.

Went shopping for nee work clothes at lunch time - needed to buy size sixteen for meetings tomorrow. Very depressing but at least they won’t be required for long.

Onwards and upwards

Wonder are you actually eating enough calories - I think that I read somewhere that if under 1200 a day the body goes into starvation mode and preserves what food it's getting

Josette77 · 06/01/2022 22:03

I am on day 5 of 30-day yoga. I am proud of myself. I made the mistake of weighing myself yesterday and seeing I weighed the same I felt awful. I reminded myself it took two years to gain the weight I won't lose it in 4.
I also signed up for a 5 km race in April so hoping that motivates me.

ThinWomansBrain · 07/01/2022 15:27

bizarre - after a particularly inactive day yesterday - 0.9kg lighter this morning.
weighing at around the same time each day, before I've eaten or had a drink. I've not noticed issues before, but beginning to doubt the accuracy of my scales.

Achievement - I went to Waitrose to get milk yesterday evening - and ONLY bought milk! No treats, bread... v. unusual for me!

AhThisAgain · 07/01/2022 15:56

First few days have been easy in some ways, but I've felt really hungry the whole time even when I've just eaten something filling like a small bowl of porridge. Going to sleep hungry too!

However I've been less hungry today so I'm really hoping my body is readjusting.

WFH is helping as I have total control over what I'm eating, and enough time to spend half an hour on the exercise bike.

Today I'm eating two eggs and coffee for breakfast, soup and most of a bag of roasted kale for lunch (nicer than it sounds!), apple and hot chocolate as snacks and will be making a risotto for dinner, plus greek yogurt and a lot of blueberries.

That's about 1000 calories so some extra to eat or save!

Mellowyellow222 · 07/01/2022 18:53

Big weigh in tomorrow!!

I am exhausted - just stepped away from the computer - long hard day.

Salmon and veggie rice for dinner. Yum.

I really should do an hour on the treadmill - but I might go to bed instead!

OP posts:
ThinWomansBrain · 07/01/2022 19:32

I've just had pizza for supper - a supermarket one, and still under 750 calories for the day Grin - including pudding (baked apple) that I'm just about to eat.

Stargazer89 · 07/01/2022 19:48

Well done everyone,

I am struggling today, I am under on calories but having a couple of vodka and diet cokes this evening. I stood on the scales this morning and was 14stone 1 so will see if having a drink will cause much damage in the morning.

TaggieWeightLoss · 07/01/2022 20:30

@Stargazer89 - actually, if you need a drink, vodka and Diet Coke is good for calories!

@ThinWomansBrain - that sounds incredibly low! Nice to see some reward on the scales though 👏👏

@AhThisAgain - the first days are always the worst for hunger.

@Josette77 - well done on the yoga. Desk yoga is pretty much my limit. I do love it though and I wish I was more flexible. Maybe I will be when I’m 3 stone thinner!!

Reasonable day here, despite wicked PMT. I’m under calories but also not moving much and in a dreadful mood. I did do 7 minutes of desk yoga though (deflection activity to stop me being mean to students).! Very pleasant and good for irrational hormonal anger, but not exactly aerobic!

Jeds55 · 07/01/2022 20:50

Hi all, seems like everyone making really good progress.
I started officially on Monday 3rd Jan - weighed in at 14 St 7 (shocked). Target weight 10 stone so 4.5 stone to lose. Been good so far. I've stopped the late night snacking whilst feeding baby, got out for some power walks with/without pram and cooked couple of decent meals.
This thread is helping me to feel less alone in all this as really feeling like I have a mountain to climb. Telling myself that the time will pass whether I'm doing something positive like losing weight or not so may aswell be positive.
I like to do a Monday weigh in but may do tomorrow so tgst I don't go crazy with the cheat(ish) day. Good luck on weight in day all

liliainterfrutices · 07/01/2022 23:31

I need to lose four stone. Have managed 7lbsthis week, but a lot of that will be through drinking more. Did have a nice meal out last night that had been arranged for ages though, but virtuously skipped dessert and was driving so kept to water.

Stargazer89 · 08/01/2022 07:14

Weigh in day:

start weight: 14stone 5
Current weight:14 stone
Goal weight: 11 stone 7 depending on how I go i might make this lower)

Total loss: 5lbs
Left to lose: 2stone 7

Really pleased with the first week loss. I know that majority will be water but it’s nice to see number number go down. Aiming for 2lb loss next week to reach half a stone.

Good luck to everyone else weighing in this morning.

@liliainterfrutices 7lbs is amazing, well done!!

TaggieWeightLoss · 08/01/2022 07:22

Well done @Stargazer89 and @liliainterfrutices! Great results!
Here are my statistics:
Start weight on 7/12/2021: 14 stone 12
Current weight: 13 stone 12
Goal weight: 11 stone 5

very pleased to tick off the first stone! I already feel the difference in my knees and ankles. 2.5 more sones to go 😱
