Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

I’m right up there with you @Mellowyellow222 at a BMI of 31.6

CrunchieForMe · 03/01/2022 16:17

And right with you too @Stargazer89

TaggieWeightLoss · 03/01/2022 16:18

@Mellowyellow222. @Stargazer89. My BMI is 32 as well. I weigh 14 stone now; starting weight 14st 12. Feels pretty horrifying to write it down but it’s nice to have company!

Have had a good day today. I had a late lunch, which definitely helped with the mid afternoon munchies. I have been for a walk and done 30 minutes on the cross trainer. Yesterday’s old person yoga definitely helped with my sore hips and back (from sleeping awkwardly). I might try it again later!

Mellowyellow222 · 03/01/2022 16:41

I am trying overnight oats tonight and making salmon teriyaki for tea.

Logging everything helps.

I wake up the morning hungry - a result of no more constant snaking at night.

I ate a whole tube of Pringles by myself between Christmas and new year😫

Finishing the day on 1219 calories but craving something sweet. I might allow myself a options hot chocolate.

Tomorrow will be harder as out all day and will be eating lunch out so hard to log accurate calories but going to try my hardest to stay on track!

how’s everyone’s day been?

Mellowyellow222 · 03/01/2022 18:53

@Stargazer89 1219 is brilliant!

I am 1412! Higher than I wanted but I was starving and had a big evening meal plus fruit during the day.

It’s still okay, and much less than I was eating.

I also had gotten into the habit of take outs regularly. Chinese, even subway for lunch. And Starbucks drove through for a ham and cheese croissant plus a cup cake.

No wonder I gained so much weight! All the bad habits must stop

Stargazer89 · 03/01/2022 20:58

@Mellowyellow222 that’s amazing!

I am the same with take aways and eating out loads. Logging my food has made me realise how many calories i must have been consuming before.

I am really having to try so hard to be mindful, I hope it becomes more of a habit!

ThinWomansBrain · 03/01/2022 22:29

well done on the 3lb @Mellowyellow222 - hope that you enjoy the porridge.
My BMI has crept up to 35 - my first target is losing ten kilos, then getting to be overweight rather than obese. The joy of measuring in kilos and keeping an eye on imperial weights too is that you get more milestone celebrations to tick off Grin.
Last couple of days have been around 1,000 calories, and I've just made a huge batch of soup that will last a few days.
I did quite a long walk today as well - or more of an amble. For anyone based in London, The National Portrait Gallery is currently closed, but has three "women in art" walks on their website - a friend and I started the Bloomsbury one today - I thoroughly reccomend.

ThinWomansBrain · 03/01/2022 22:38

@Stargazer89 - I have the Paul McKenna book, I must dig it out. I have a terrible habit of buying books and assuming that if they are "in the pile" I'll get the information by osmosis - it doesn't work.
I don't think I finished "Thin Woman's Brain" - despite being impressed enough to change my user name to it.
I've just started reading one I bought a while ago called "Hooked" about junk food.

Sleepdeprived42long · 03/01/2022 22:45

I need to lose 2 stone (and two close sizes!) to get to a weight where I can put jeans on and they aren’t tight round my waist! Been living in leggings since my son was born…9 years ago Confused

Stargazer89 · 04/01/2022 08:07

Day 3!!!
Probably longest I have stuck to a diet in ages and I put it down to this thread for keeping me on track.

I put an order in for some of the healthy range ready meals from Mindful chef(I had 40% off for being a returning customer) They are arriving today and I thought i’d use them on days when really busy and no time to meal plan and hoping they will help stay on track with the calorie counting. As we are out today, I will take a low calorie snack, pick a healthy lunch and then I know dinner will be a quick 400ish calorie meal.
Also put in a healthy tesco online shop that’s arriving saturday and weight loss journal has been dispatched too so hoping will arrive in next day or so! Gosh all the little things that need to be done to keep me focused! My willpower is rubbish!!

Anyone got any tips for staying on track?

Hope we all have a good day

Mellowyellow222 · 04/01/2022 08:40

I am a go-yo dieter so maybe not the best for giving advice.

But mini goals have always helped me. Staring at a big number is really demotivating.

I was 12st 7 this morning - so down from 12 at 10 on day zero.

Mini goals are to get under 12 stone and out of obese zone!

OP posts:
CrunchieForMe · 04/01/2022 09:18

My weight has been up and down since I was about 20 so again not the best person to give advice. I think the first week is the hardest…take a while for your body to adjust to less food. Once the scales start moving I find that a massive incentive.

This is my proper day 1 today. I will do this!

ppeatfruit · 04/01/2022 09:26

if this helps I have a thread on here at Vegan . It is really helpful for low calorie (healthy) eating. It's interesting that I ve never counted calories, but a poster on the Paul Mackenna site I was on noted that I eat low calorie anyway!!

The brilliant thing about PM is that you never go hungry because you HAVE to eat when you're hungry, (and stop when you're full, eating slowly and enjoying the food) You get to know your stomach!! You change your lifestyle. That's the answer to maintaining your weight loss. Sorry to go on but it is the way to go.

Mellowyellow222 · 04/01/2022 10:53

I am working from home so not getting as much exercise as I used to. Every time I go downstairs and I come up and down a few extra times - in my mind my bum gets smaller every time😂

Weighed myself today. Horrified. Still loads of choc in house. Don't want to throw it away, not sure what to do. I just need to get a grip and eat healthy!

Mellowyellow222 · 04/01/2022 13:33

@Chakraleaf I gave away all the chocolate and crisps. Too much temptation and I tend to binge.

Anything close the sell by day I threw out. Huge waste I know but too much temptation.

I did a healthy shop so lots of quick, healthy meals available, and fruit and veg for snacks.

It only works for me if there is no junco food in the house.

And working from home means no coffee shops to nip to when I forget lunch.

OP posts:
TaggieWeightLoss · 04/01/2022 17:46

I gave away all my Christmas chocolate too. I find it easier to cut out things altogether than to eat in moderation!

@Mellowyellow222 - it my first day back at work today too (from home). I have burnt far fewer ‘move calories’ than usual but have been less hungry as I have more occupying my mind.

Off now for more greys anatomy while doing some cross trainer. I’m aiming to rewatch all the greys anatomy before moving onto the new season! Which will be about 120 hours of cross trainer!

Mellowyellow222 · 04/01/2022 17:59

Well done taggie!

I did a quick walk at lunch time - 3km in 30 mins which for me is good.

But it’s dark now and raining so not going out again.

Another 1400 calorie day. Which feels too high.

But this is only week one - will trim some calories next week

OP posts:
ThinWomansBrain · 04/01/2022 18:28

Back at work today - less temptation - and I did go out for a short walk at lunchtime - it's turned really cold after the recent mild patch.

I have two boxes of mince pies at home- waitrose are giving them away - I'm going to take them in to the communal kitchen at work.

I'd not lost any weight when I weighed this morning - well only 0.1kg, despite being quite active yesterday, bit frustrating.

Stargazer89 · 04/01/2022 18:46

Thanks for the tips, I think setting smaller goals will help me and make it seem more achievable.

Ending day on just under 1500 calories! Going to try and consume less tomorrow. But pleased to get another day completed!

you guys have done so well at chucking chocolate out, we have lots left but keeping it for weekend treats. Are any of you giving yourself cheat days/day? I am going to be a little more relaxed at the weekend and will have a drink but going to try and still be more mindful! I know it will mean slower weight loss but I don’t think I can maintain it otherwise

RosieRainbow1986 · 04/01/2022 18:54

Hello ladies and apologies for taking so long to message again! It sounds like you're all off to a good start! 👍 😊

Re weight, I haven't weighed for a while and am guessing I'm at the 13 stone 7 mark...First weigh in will be on Saturday. My initial goal is to get to 11 stone 12, which feels quite daunting at the moment but I know once I see the first couple of losses it'll help with the motivation!

I put all of my stats into NutraCheck and am allowed 1460 calories a day if I want to lose 1.5lbs a week...which I've found ok so far and have managed to stick to it!

As for cheat days...as weigh in is a Saturday I do tend to be slightly naughtier than I would on a week day, but am still going to log everything I eat just to try and stop me going completely overboard!!!

Tea tonight...Joe Wicks chicken pie (I've swapped the oil for 1 cal spray and 50% fat cream) with some carrots and peas and it's coming in at 488 calories, so pleased with that!

CrunchieForMe · 04/01/2022 19:06

I have managed to consume most of the Christmas chocolates that were in the house..ooppps. I have definitely got a sweet tooth.

I will be ending the day on around 1300 kcal send that is good with me.

I managed to get to the gym and do a 30minute class as well. All in all a good first day!

Next step is to buy a battery for my scales do I can do a Saturday weigh in!

AhThisAgain · 04/01/2022 19:08

Can I join this thread? I could do with something to keep me on track.

I'm currently 13st 6 (85kg), which is a BMI of 33.4 for me, ouch.

Always used to be a size 12 but have gradually gone up to a wobbly 16 thanks to a combination of small kids and lockdown. I've been told to lose weight for health reasons not that I didn't know anyway.

First goal a stone and/or to look better for a wedding in April. Overall goal a healthy BMI.

I'm counting calories using weightlossresources.co.uk which is like myfitnesspal but with a better interface and database (I think).

Have an exercise bike at home and plan to walk to work sometimes (50min). It's tricky with small children and a full time job but I need to get back to being healthy!

Mellowyellow222 · 04/01/2022 19:09

I don’t have set cheat days - but am not getting too worked up if a treat falls on my lap. For example I have two family birthdays this month and will be having birthday cake both days!

I am also doing dry January. I had gotten into a bad habit with a glass of wine to relax in the evening. Empty calories😊.

I bought en expensive work dress and jacket from Hobbs for an interview last year. Was horrified that I had to buy a size 14. Now my goal is to fit into it. I think maybe next month. So that is my motivation
