Accountability - three stone needs to go

Mellowyellow222 · 01/01/2022 19:49

Stood on the scales today - I have gained three stone since 2019. None of my clothes fit and I feel really unfit - can’t even touch my toes!

So today is day one. I have walked 17,000 steps and eaten 1500 calories. No booze and no chocolate.

History of ED so need to be sensible.

Goal is to eat less and walk every day. Treadmill ordered.

Some great results already @Stargazer89 @liliainterfrutices @TaggieWeightLoss.

Here’s mine:
SW. 14.7
CW. 14.5
GW. 11.6
LTL. 2stone 13

8lb to be out of obese category.

I’ve only lost 2lb but I only started on Tuesday. If I can carry on losing 2lb a week I will be well chuffed!

ThinWomansBrain · 08/01/2022 08:30

Well done every one - @TaggieWeightLoss congratulations on the milestone

Start weight 1/1/22: 90.8kg
Week 1 8/1/22: 88.8kg
Goal weight: 60kg would make me normal BMI, but think I'd be happy at 70kg (it's a looong while since my weight was that low.)

in imperial that's 14 stone 4lb to 13 stone 13lb

Mellowyellow222 · 08/01/2022 08:47

Morning all

SW 12 stone 6 lbs

CW 11 stone 13.75 lbs

Loss 6.25lbs

GW 9 stone 9 lbs

2 stone 4 lbs to go

Very happy with that start, been eating well with 3 gym sessions a week and 2 big walks too. Just had a big egg salad for lunch and tonight is chicken salad wraps.

Well done everyone!

Mellowyellow222 · 08/01/2022 13:52

Such a great start for everyone!

I reckon once I have lost about 10lbs I will start to notice a difference in how my clothes fit - and that is always a great motivator.

The first week is always the hardest - I had hoped for more than 4lbs this week seeing it’s the first week - but pretty happy all the same. Hopefully will settle at around 2lbs a week from here.

Yay for a great results!

Not a bad day here. I struggled out in the rain for a shortish walk. I have stuck to my food routine, even though I baked some cookies with DS2. It was physically a bit painful, not sneaking any cookies.

I think I am ready to cautiously re-introduce some sugar back into my diet. In the last month, I haven't had anything sweet at all (not even fruit), except on Christmas day. I've been trying to break my addiction to sugar and carbs, which I think is the source of my obesity. However, I didn't want to go full-on keto. I know that keto works fantastically well and is great for some people, but it doesn't fit in with our family eating pattern. As a compromise, I've been avoiding simple sugars as much as possible and only eating refined carbohydrates at supper time (in small portions). A month in, I barely crave sugar (except when it is in freshly baked cookies!) and I no longer have post meal sleepiness or the shakes when I'm hungry. I take this as a sign I am ready to re-introduce fresh fruit for puddings! Can't wait!

alh26 · 08/01/2022 17:32

Hi can I join? I an going skiing in march and my ski trousers don't fit that I wore 2 years ago. I reckon I have 1 stone to lose to fit them and another stone after that to be happy. I'm aiming for 1500 calories, minimum 30 mins exercise everyday even if that's just a walk

Mellowyellow222 · 08/01/2022 18:03

@alh26 welcome! Of course you can join😂.

I have actually had a great day. Borrowed the neighbours dog and went for a long walk this morning - so have 14,000 steps done already. Might jump on the treadmill later for half an hour!

Having (home made) fish and chips for tea but still sitting on 1,000 calories - missed breakfast - which means room for a treat in front one the tv tonight. However I measured out 100g of chips - portion control is hell😂.

liliainterfrutices · 08/01/2022 21:35

Portion control is hell - they are so meagre!
I struggled today. Have had really stressful week and it’s so cold and am longing for some hot chocolate and toast. But hot ginger tea is helping . . .

ThinWomansBrain · 08/01/2022 22:40

interesting - I visited my sister today - had lunch, similar portion to what I'd normally eat, and felt really full (OK, I didn't actually stop eating....)
Around 1400 calories, and hardly any vegetables, but really feel as if I've eaten too much.

ThinWomansBrain · 08/01/2022 22:41

1400 calories - whole day, not jsut lunch Grin

ThinWomansBrain · 08/01/2022 22:46

@liliainterfrutices - try this soup recipe - really filling and warming
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lentil-bacon-soup

I don;t think the nutrition is correct - I added for all the ingeedients I put in. divided it by the nimber of portions, and typically it comes out at about 100cal per portion

liliainterfrutices · 08/01/2022 23:06

Ooh I will - thank you!

Mellowyellow222 · 09/01/2022 12:45

I have had to pull together a size 16 wardrobe😫.

My coat doesn’t zip. I have ordered a cheap waterproof for walking, and a couple a cheap work tops.

I can’t spend every day praying I dot. Have to leave the house until my clothes fit!

Hopefully the scale will love a little more this week - and the size 16s will be a huge waste of money! But I really do need clothes that I can actually wear.

OP posts:
Stargazer89 · 09/01/2022 14:00

@Mellowyellow222 I feel your pain. I am living in the same clothes but keep hoping i will fit back in to smaller ones soon.
Had a relaxed day yesterday but didn’t overindulge, back on it today and aiming to stick to 1200 tomorrow and Tuesday to help balance out overall calories.

ThinWomansBrain · 09/01/2022 22:43

bit of a wobble last night/this morning - late night supermarket shop on the way home :(
On the plus side, I spent two hours manhandling my matress trying to fit a new matress cover on, so that whould have had a counterbalancing effect! (I did succeed in the end)

AhThisAgain · 10/01/2022 08:14

Morning!
So I've done a week and managed to stay within calories, first time in a long time.

Went out for brunch yesterday and ordered the veggie full English, but gave a lot to my kids and still felt easily full which I wouldn't have previously, a good sign.

Stargazer89 · 10/01/2022 08:40

Monday: Back on it!
I have really struggled over the weekend, anyone else find it harder?

Trying not to beat myself up and going to start a fresh today!

CrunchieForMe · 10/01/2022 09:39

Yes weekends are always harder as I’m out of routine. It’s a new week and I’m feeling positive though!
I’m prepared for this 3 stone to take me a year to lose so I’m happy with a slower weight loss as long as it is consistent. I feel like previously I have failed because I have over restricted and ended up binging/obsessed with food. I’m trying to strike a balance but we will see how that goes!

TaggieWeightLoss · 10/01/2022 10:39

Found it harder over the weekend, definitely. It is tricky having to prepare lots of food for the family and then not eat it! I slipped up last night and had too much crackling (my favourite thing!). It is very salty and so I was punished by a bad daily weigh in 😥

But today is a new day and the left over crackling is in the bin!

Mellowyellow222 · 10/01/2022 12:05

I had a good weekend simply because I didn’t have to socialise. But I need to be careful that I don’t start missing things just so I won’t break my diet.

A few higher calorie days are fine as long as you get back into the routine quickly. It can even help to give the metabolism a bit of a kick (I have no idea of that is true - but that philosophy has always helped me!).
