Jumping January

Thought I would start the new thread a day early, cannot believe this thread has been going for two years. I joined on 2nd Jan 2020. I'm going to put today's weight in 9st1.25, so a gain of three pounds in December. Aiming to get back to where I was by the end of January and in the longer term a few more pounds.

Remember when you get tired, as day goes on, your brain less able to make sensible (!) decisions so be ready for it. One day at a time, we can do it!
I'm two years on this great thread now. Weighed 10st 4 mid Jan, but started Jan 1st so I can imagine I was around 10.5 mark. This time last year I was 8st13 so have at least kicked one stone off for good.

Octopus37 · 05/01/2022 10:39

Sounds as if everyone is doing great. 9st0.5 this morning. Unfortunately DS1 has tested positive again, we only all had it at the end of October, gutting. Obviously worried about him, but worried about catching it and missing more work. I had my booster on 30th December but doubt its effective yet. Obviously had to cancel my birthday plans for the weekend. O well.

Oh no @Octopus37! I hope your DS is ok and has mild symptoms. Sorry to hear you’ve had to cancel your birthday plans too Sad

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 05/01/2022 11:28

Oh no, hope you'll be OK.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/01/2022 13:01

10/7 here today and did 12,000 steps yesterday.

What a shame octopus. I hope you are all okay.

Wowwellokthen · 05/01/2022 13:35

What a pain about the positive tests! Hope your Ds stays symptom free at least.

Weigh in today...64kg Smile so heading in the right direction. Lots of walking recently...about to head out for a long walk as lovely and sunny.

Well done everyone!

NutellaEllaElla · 05/01/2022 14:34

Sorry to hear about your birthday plans Sad

Water everyone.

I was reading about how to prevent eating because you're bored. The ideas are weak but thought i'd share nonetheless:
*Sugar free chewing gum/ sweets
*Drink water
*Give your hands something else to do
*Don't eat out of the bag of crisps or whatever it is, portion it out into a plate or ramekin. Otherwise you could mindlessly eat the whole bag.
*Eat regular meals, protein etc. so you don't get super hungry in between meals
*Brush your teeth
*Distract yourself
*Don't eat mindlessly, pay attention to what you're eating
*Identify your triggers, plan and mentally rehearse alternative actions
*Make it difficult to access snacks. Either out the house or up high or something.
*Accept it, you're gonna feel bored sometimes and you're gonna snack sometimes, don't give yourself a hard time

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 05/01/2022 15:41

How can you say the ideas are weak when brush your teeth is in there? Grin

NutellaEllaElla · 05/01/2022 15:56

😁 The problem is that it's my decision when to brush my teeth! And I'll push through weird tasting things if I'm determined enough!

Hangoverstruggles · 05/01/2022 16:05

Hi everyone, just checking in for yesterday and today. Feeling in control so far!

@swallowedAfly wowsa you have made some fantastic progress since I was last on these threads. Well done!! You must be feel amazing!

@Octopus37 sorry to hear Covid is back for you. And rubbish for birthday plans 😩

Yesterday I had tomato & basil soup and granary roll for lunch (cafe so best option!) and roasted chicken breast with potatoes and veg. Calculated around 1200

Today I've had overnight oats, banana, and two hard boiled eggs. 2 teas and 2 coffees, one chocolate. Dinner tbc! We have a gusto box arrive so will be one of those 4 recipes.

Banging headache and wondering if it's sugar withdrawal after eating so much over Christmas !! Must drink more water.

swallowedAfly · 05/01/2022 16:52

Thanks Hangover - I had a bit of a breakthrough month in November and lost a load and didn't mess up over Christmas this year. I'm struggling with hunger now though. Hopefully your cravings will settle down soon.

Ate too much yesterday really and didn't weigh this morning. Period started this morning so will perhaps steer clear of the scales tomorrow too and I decided that yes it was ok to order chinese. Hopefully get my arse back in gear soon.

Sorry about your birthday plans Octopus!

NutellaEllaElla · 05/01/2022 17:28

I have discovered another tip for avoiding snacking when working from home. Do not go downstairs. It didn't work all the time and I do need a drink which is a shame.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 05/01/2022 17:51

Still a few hours to get the water in (and not be up all night). Late lunch here again and I had too much garlic potato and I'm sleepy now.. Calling it a day food wise, tho early, I'll have done another 16:8 incidentally.
Banana, kiwi, almonds, Greek yoghurt and cappuccino
Chicken casserole wuth butternut squash and garlic potatoes
Slice of homemade lemon drizzle.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 05/01/2022 18:20

Read this book years ago and saw there's a podcast and it's good. For those of us who tend to binge.. brainoverbinge.com/1-introducing-the-brain-over-binge-podcast/ Hope it's useful.

NutellaEllaElla · 05/01/2022 20:21

Thank you for the recommendation, I have added it to my playlist.

Finishing up the day under budget having drunk water and walked a good amount. The first 5 days of the year have started off great.

I've got to think about damage limitation for the weekend though as I have a 3 course fancy restaurant meal both days.

Morning all!

Sorry to hear about the tests @Octopus37 hopefully you manage to stay clear.

You’re all great motivation to keep on track with the water. I’ve not seen much shift this week, I was hoping for more but feel better in myself. I think my system is settling down after Christmas.

I just need to keep on track at the weekend. I work away in the week, so much easier to stay focussed then and keep away from the snacks.

How do you time your 5k with the fasting @Allaboutthebooks? I’ve often struggled with that in the past.

lagrangethetortoise · 06/01/2022 07:24

67.3kg last two days.

Still not being great food wise, bit by bit eating the Christmas chocolates etc.

Swam yesterday and walked Tuesday.

Octopus37 · 06/01/2022 07:39

Wow @Allaboutthebooks that's loads. @HeyGirlHeyBoy I will listen to that podcast. I didn't do very well yesterday, I ate loads of celebrations cause I was totally fed up tbh, also not enough steps. Still 9st0.5 today. DS is very tired with cold like symptoms. DS2 still negative at the moment, back at school today. I'm negative but tbh feel a bit rough, hoping I stay negative and its just my antibodies fighting it or something. Hope everyone has a good day.

First day back at work for me, and 10/8. I seem to be flip-flopping that pound, but since I started the holidays at 10/7 I feel okay about it. I did 9.000 steps yesterday without leaving the house - taking down the Christmas decs was clearly labour intensive! (We don't have a huge house or anything, I am just a massive fidget.)

Hangoverstruggles · 06/01/2022 09:38

Morning all, just checking in.

Home today and feeling under the weather so won't be much activity!

Food wise I'm planning to hold out until 12, and have a big bowl of comforting porridge and maybe some boiled eggs as a snack.

Fish pie for tea I think.

Doing well sticking to my cals. Hope it's enough to lose the lbs I want without upping the exercise.

Hangoverstruggles · 06/01/2022 20:56

Aaah I had a snackcident!! Feeling rotten and my one chocolate from my Hotel Chocolate box become 5 😩 400 cals!

Oh well, I will not let it set me off the rails!! At least it was between 12-8 so not broken the intermittent fasting window!

Hope you've all done better than me today 😊

NutellaEllaElla · 06/01/2022 21:11

Snackcident is such an apt word Grin. If you can forget it and move on and not use it as an excuse to go off the rails then that's a win I reckon.

I'm checking in having eaten under my calorie target (dinner went horribly wrong, DH doesn't like being blamed but how can you fuck up hammering out a chicken breast flat? Honestly, i've never seen such a mangled, lumpy and frankly destroyed thing) and somehow i've ended up feeling bloated. Walked a good amount and drank sufficient water.

I should be receiving delivery of one treadmill tomorrow. I'm excited because the lockdown weekends of walking together are gone and DH now cycles with mates. I don't like walking on my own but if I can watch stuff on my ipad at the same time i'll be golden.

LBB2020 · 06/01/2022 21:19

I didn’t have the best day, went to visit my aunt who had made a big cooked lunch which I wasn’t expecting and had also got sticky buns from the bakery as dessert and insisted I have one! I then gave into left over Christmas shortbread Blush
No eating since our dinner which was pretty decent and I’ve drank quite a bit of water so hopefully evens out a bit!

LBB2020 · 07/01/2022 07:29

0.75lb down this morning, it’s a start!
Happy Friday all Smile
