HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@LaBelleSausage I have used it before so i tend to stick to the classics. Chocolate, shake, strawberry shake along with vanilla and banana (which is an acquired taste!).

But i do love their porridge pots, with a bit of skinny syrup in them. I like a few of the bars and soups as well. The meal ones are a bit weird so tend to miss those!

@TheRealHousewife i have two kids, so can't not have it unfortunately! But instead of getting big bags or bars, i'll have the small kinder bars, so if i do eat some it won't be so bad! But i am going to try not to have any at all!

Fashionesta · 31/12/2021 12:08

Thanks @therealhousewife I really like the idea of shutting up shop in the kitchen. Will try that

2022weightlossusername · 31/12/2021 12:09

Placemarking ready to start on 2nd January.

I’ve been overweight for a couple of years now, gradually just expanding but the last half stone or so has made a huge difference to how I feel and look. Hopefully it will be the catalyst though.

I am another with an under active thyroid so I’m not sure the dream goal of 1lb per week is achievable for me.

If I am a couple of stone lighter by this time next year I’ll be happy. It could so easily be a couple of stone heavier though!

I’ll be sticking to 1200 calories a day (possibly allowing a Saturday off for a takeaway depending how things go). I will also be trying to exercise around three times a week because I need that extra deficit.

Working from home has ruined me.

Rshard · 31/12/2021 12:20

fireworkparrot I am also desperate for a new pair of jeans but am convinced a new pair of the same ones I’m wearing will not fit!

I’ve been wfh since March 2020 and sometimes (usually) don’t leave the house all day, especially this time of year. So I’m going to commit to that too.

Very lively and positive thread, really feeling inspired to make some changes.

NoodleSlurper · 31/12/2021 13:30

I’m glad there are so many of us doing this, and others with lots to lose like me (5st ish).

@HostessTrolley 2022 is the year I am going to get a job after 20 years of being self-employed, so your post is encouraging. Not even had an interview so far so I think I’m going to try agencies.

FireworkParrot · 31/12/2021 13:51

Sadly the jeans I can't fit into are a brand I've bought before. I remember when a size 14 in that brand fell down all the time and I needed a belt but that was a couple of years ago now. I've been really guilty of WFH the past couple of years and living in jogging bottoms and stretchy clothes so I've not noticed the weight piling on as much as I would have in jeans or trousers with buttons!

The link to the low intensity HIIT workout is below. I have a pelvic organ prolapse after DD2 who is 2 years old and it's made me frightened to exercise in case I make it worse which in turn has affected my weight gain. I can't do anything high impact (eg running or jumping) or anything that gives too much abdominal pressure (sit ups etc) but I need to focus on what I can do. I've been sticking to walking or occasionally swimming but wanted to try HIIT and this video looks like it's a good cardio workout. I imagine it would be a good workout for anyone to be honest.

NoodleSlurper · 31/12/2021 14:43

Thanks for the HIIT link @FireworkParrot

Good Afternoon All

I went shopping into a large supermarket this morning which is rare for me because I’m CV. I don’t know about anyone else but I find it an ordeal of sorts. Ears are too small & weak for mask to feel secure, my glasses 🤓 keep steaming up and loads of people without masks not keeping their distance. I know I like to live on the edge at times and it does you good to do something that scares you every once in a while but today defo took me out of my comfort zone.

@Midnightstar76 You know where you’re at now you’ve weighed and it isn’t as bad as you anticipated. Put yesterday behind you and focus on moving past it. Are you not having breakfast because you want to save the cals or because you can’t face food. If that latter fair enough. If the former it could prove false economy and you could end up over eating later. If you’re stuck in what to have, eggs 🍳 are good for breakfast, full of protein.

A warm welcome @Stade197 and congrats on your baby. How delightful! You’ve done it before, you know what works for you so you’re well on your way! Good luck.

I understand @2022wontbecrap, damage limitation with the smaller bars 😬

You’re welcome @Fashionesta 👍

A warm welcome @2022weightlossusername. I totally understand about thyroid disease thwarting weight loss. My levels with meds are ‘adequate’ according to GP. I keep pestering to be titrated up to optimum levels. It would make weight loss so much easier.

@Rshard I agree it’s developing into a very lively and inspiring thread. We are so getting on it for 2022.

@NoodleSlurper I also found @HostessTrolleys post about work inspiring too! I’m hoping to secure something part part time next year having not worked since my spinal cord injury. There must be something I’m fit far 😬

@FireworkParrot sorry to read about your prolapse. I know that can affect many things, including weight due to lack of cardio exercise. Thank you for the link👍

I’m prepping for a small buffet tonight. Just me and my better half. TBH at the moment I wouldn’t go into a pub or restaurant. I just don’t want the dreaded covid 🦠

In Australia it’s 2022 … Happy New Year @DownUdderer 🍾🎉 🥂

Thanks for the welcome @TheRealHousewife

I got on the scales today just so it’s not such a shock on Wednesday, good job I did, 17st 5lb. I’m going to aim for 12st 9 as that’s where my bmi is ‘overweight’ rather than obese - I know that most people here are starting at/below my goal weight and working towards getting lighter, but for me aiming for ‘overweight’ seems like a positive step for my health.

schnubbins · 31/12/2021 16:37

Hi there , just saw this thread and would love to join.I need to lose about 15 kgs which i have put on over the last few years and am finding hard to shift .I am now 89 kgs at 5 ft 10 and its the heaviest I have ever been.Menopause isn't helping nor the fact that I am incapacitated by a bad arthritis and a fused ankle which makes movement quite painful .Enough of the excuses though .I know i can do it if i put my mind to it but a little extra support would be wonderful.Low carb and 16/8 is what works for me.

HostessTrolley · 31/12/2021 16:38

@TheRealHousewife @NoodleSlurper I’ve been self employed since about 2009 - I was basically bullied out of an all female working environment, being self employed was meant to be a couple of years while I got my head together but life happens then my d got ill. I just feel that I want to be back in the workplace and among people again, it’s only a couple of shifts a week and I’m overqualified for the role really, but it’s a start and I’m excited about it. Getting out of the house more will hopefully help with the weight loss too…

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 31/12/2021 16:43

Hello all, thanks for starting this thread.

Starting again (for the millionth time) tomorrow, January 1st. I will be doing Weight Watchers which has worked for me in the past. I haven’t weighed myself for a while, but I know I’m likely to be the heaviest I’ve ever been, and enough is enough.

I am heading towards 40 in a few years, and I really need to sort out my weight for health reasons- touch wood I’m ok at the moment but I can’t imagine that I can ‘get away’ with being this weight forever, so enough is enough!

ShoppingBasket · 31/12/2021 16:47

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
Today was a bit of a 'meh' of a day.
I came off a night shift and because I'm tired I go for sugary foods. I did well for breakfast and lunch but didn't log a plan or what I had eaten. I opened a box of biscuits someone had given me but I didn't just have 1.
I need to plan better and have food prepped to grab and actually go to bed when I go home not start doing housework. Draw a line now.

Breakfast fruit and fibre and milk
Lunch slim bagel with tomato and 20g of wenslydale cheese with cranberries
Snack 9999 biscuits
Dinner : veg bake tray to try and salvage something!

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2021 16:58

@HostessTrolley you’re very welcome. It’s going to be a great year! Sorry to read you’ve been bullied. One of my pet peeves are bullies! I’ve come across one or two myself. Usually bullies have something lacking in their own life/self esteem issues. Put it this way, you don’t come across any bullies who are happy, fulfilled and confident.

A warm welcome @schnubbins 👍 Great plan! I empathise with the joint/arthritis issues! The thing is in our head we are still feel vibrant and enthusiastic for exercise but our bodies have other ideas.

What I’d like people to remember is that weight loss isn’t linear. This Article busts 12 of the biggest myths about weight loss. Might be a useful read. I myself can get disheartened when I know I’m doing all the right things but the scales go the wrong way. I tend to look at the long term outcomes and my app graphs are great for that.

Good luck everyone.

Have a great night what ever you’re doing 🎉🍾🥂🎶

Please can I join?

I have lots and lots to loose but would like to aim for 4 stone as a starter.

I have had a tough year and realised that I'm a binge eater which does not help!!

Last March I started the meal prep king plan which did actually work and I lost 2 stone (although put it back on when I hit a blip)

It sounds sad but after looking at my wedding pics from this year I can only see fat rolls everywhere and I'm so embarrassed. I'd like to loose some weight and have some family pictures done the same time next year so that's my 'physical' goal!

129orbust · 31/12/2021 17:45

Marking my place!
Hello old chums and many many newbies.
Let's see what the scales say on 4th January....

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2021 17:46

A warm welcome @ShelbyLimitedCo and congrats on your recent wedding. Sorry to read you’ve had a tough year. Are you getting support in rl? It’s really important to get in the right headspace. This might be a useful read; it’s called Weight Loss: Gain Control of Emotional Eating. You’ve come to right place for support and encouragement. Never any harsh words or criticism on the threads. Good luck.

👋👋
Hi everyone

Made it through, had a general which no one had thought to tell me as was still hoping it was light sedation! Got home about half an hour okay. Feel exhausted and sore.

Thank you for your kind words of praise and reassurance and for keeping me company in the hospital @TheRealHousewife.

Welcome to everyone. I would do individual comments usually but I'm still not with it so forgive me.

ShelbyLimitedCo · 31/12/2021 18:45

@TheRealHousewife thank you for the warm welcome. I have just received a diagnosis of anxiety so am hoping the some therapy may start next year but have a super supportive family. Will defo check out that book!

Bridetobe2 · 31/12/2021 19:00

Hi everyone,

Would love to join! I was on a similar thread last year jan-feb and was so pleased I’d lost baby weight to get to around 10 and a half stone mark but had a way to go before I hit my goal weight of 9.12 (a healthy bmi for me and a weight I’ve felt best at in the past) Since then, I’ve crept back up to 11 stone and then managed to get back to 10 stone 7lb.

I know I don’t have loads to loose but I’m getting married in Feb and I want to feel my absolute best… currently unhappy with wobbly tummy, upper arms and bum. Result of eating crap, too much indulging in wine and not enough exercise.

My plan is not to eat outside of 11.30am - 8pm and focus on whole foods, protein and good carbs. Lots of fresh veg. Dry Jan from the 2nd and laying off the sugar except the odd weekend treat.

Time for gym, classes on my own is hard due to being main carer for toddlers but I am aiming to squeeze in 3 runs a week. I’ve been scared to run since had last baby as things down below were not great but I think I’m healed now and will start nice and slowly.

Really looking forward to all supporting each other x

twinkydink · 31/12/2021 20:13

Can I join please? I get married in August and am so desperate to feel confident with how I look! I exercise consistently but I just can't sort my food out. Im considering thr Fast 800, I'm going to look back over the posts and see if anyone else has done it but if anyone has thoughts please let me know!

I would love to lose 2.5 stone by August, do people think that's possible?

Good luck to everyone starting!

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2021 20:20

Welcome back @SunshineCake1 and you’re very welcome ☺️ take it easy & rest up! ❤️

@ShelbyLimitedCo You’re welcome and I’m pleased to read you’ve got a supportive family, it’ll really help with your recovery.

A warm welcome & congratulations on your up coming wedding @Bridetobe2 … do I need to get a hat? 👒😬 Your plan sounds doable 👍

Anyone watched Emmerdale … gosh, Meenas totally twisting my melons. I can’t bear to watch 👀

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2021 20:28

Hi @twinkydink another imminent wedding, congratulations 🥳. Fast800 has several methods from hard core 800 cals a day to 5:2. They also do a Keto Fast800. There’s loads on line about it and some free content. I’m not sure if there’s a pay wall or not on the link. Fingers crossed 🤞

I watch Emmerdale. Finding Meena sinister whereas everyone else thinks she's funny and a terrible actress.
