HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Didn't run today as felt should give my body a rest but I did walk for an hour and a quarter with my dog.

Salad for lunch with three small sausage rolls, five chips and a slice of seeded bread. Not quite what I planned but went to see a friend and it turned into a crisis situation.

DS1 is going back to his flat tonight Sad so tomorrow will be odd as dh and I will be home alone once DS2 is at school.

Will run tomorrow and walk the dog later this afternoon too.

buzzofthebumblebee · 13/01/2022 13:29

Great losses Camping and 2022wontbecrap. A good boost and motivating.

All good here. I've done a run - only 5km - but better than nothing, plus pilates class. Ouch!

Dinner last night was yummy home made chicken, cauli, carrot and spinach curry (tikka paste, tinned toms + 2 spoons coconut cream to thicken).

Dinner tonight will be roast cod, kale & butterbeans with tiny bit chorizo. Boys will have potatoes too. I'll try and resist, or at least have mini portion.

Today a big turning point for me - annual anniversary of something big that happened a while ago - partly why I dread January, but now it's here it will be past again and so I feel brighter and stronger to hit 2022 on the head !!!

Yesterday's 20-22 minutes ME time I had a bath !! Was lovely. I'm going to go out for walk later and treat myself to some flowers.

Coolhand2 · 13/01/2022 14:44

Hi all
I weighed in yesterday and was still at 77kg, I started at 80kg Jan 1. I took 2 days break from exercising, will get on it today with c25k and cardio. Still doing intermittent fasting but I think I have been eating a lot of carbs, need to work on reducing bread.

declutteringmymind · 13/01/2022 16:10

Hi all. Manic day. Had a burst of energy today so tidied the house from top to bottom so I'm tired but happy. So far I've had 2 cups of coffee and a low cal subway sandwich. Turkey meatballs and brown pasta with salad for dinner tonight then I'm out for football training so might take an options hot choc in a flask for the sidelines.

I've managed to sync up my watch to my phone to count steps as well so I can see how I'm doing exercise wise.

Tomorrow is going to be a challenge as I'm meeting a friend for lunch but I'll be ok if I skip breakfast and have a light dinner.

Well done to everybody who is still in the game. Keep going, keep distracted!

DontWantTheRivalry · 13/01/2022 17:04

Sounds like there are some positive stories!!

Well done everyone for all your motivation and aims and plans.

I crumbled today and had 3 frazzles and 5 wotsits 😂

buzzofthebumblebee · 13/01/2022 17:27

3 whole frazzles and 5 wotsits Dont ?? That's really bad. Enough to totally derail you ; )

I've just come on to say I crumbled and just had 2 slices of cake. Yes cake. Both refined carbs and sugar, plus a snack, so 3 of my big no no's. In my defence it was homemade (by me) for DS birthday today. And it was delicious. Tomorrow is a new day!

Well done on loss Coolhand. Great effort!

ImALittlePea · 13/01/2022 17:41

Hi! Can I join please? Started calorie counting (using MFP) on 4th Jan and would love somewhere to chat all the ins and outs and uos and downs 😊

Weighed 11st 8lb on NYE. Didn't start watching my intake until the 4th, and weighing in tomorrow so 🤞🤞 for a decent starting loss.

My calorie limit is set to 1400 on MFP but I don't tend to go much over 1000 (conscious this is too low long term). I don't get much time exercise at the moment (kids!) but trying to carve some time out to prioritise this.

I'm trying not to be super restrictive, but my family are relatively fussy and I'm not going to cook multiple meals every day. Not vegetarian but try to avoid meat where I can. I don't tend to track on MFP religiously at weekends but stay as mindful as possible. Trying to avoid bread and crisps as much as possible (they're my absolute weakness). I also like wine probably too much (have cut right, right back this year so far) and I'm a sucker for takeaway pizza 😬

Typical meals are:
B - don't eat breakfast 99% of time but always have a cuppa
L - half a tin of soup (not cream based), salad or some sort of eggs
D - home cooked veggie curry/lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, sausage (normally veggie), new pots and veg, jacket potato etc. Treat meals are pizza and burger and chips.
Snacks - more tea, satsumas, sneaky bites of the kids crisps 👀

I'll rtft later and look forward to seeing everyone progress and tips along the way!

2022weightlossusername · 13/01/2022 18:12

3lbs off for me in my first week!

129orbust · 13/01/2022 20:42

That would be super darling x

129orbust · 13/01/2022 20:46

How embarrassing!
I was reading the thread and DH texted and I replied on here Blush
And no I haven't been drinking - why doesn't Mumsnet have an edit or delete button????

ginsparkles · 13/01/2022 21:19

Hi all,

Today did not go to plan at all. But still came in just on my calorie limit even allowing for the cookie that slipped into my mouth earlier !!

Back to work tomorrow so back on plan!

Oops @129orbust ! I am always thinking I am about to do that!

Welcome @ImALittlePea

ImALittlePea · 13/01/2022 21:22

Thanks gin! I'll report in with my weigh in result in the morning 🤞

Allotment123 · 13/01/2022 22:19

Two weeks on I'm sure I'm hungrier, is that normal? Ending up eating more carbs during the day, I always eat breakfast and then feeling full about 4pm so then eating less at dinner. Is this normal?
Breakfast porridge + sunflower seeds, 2 satsumas
11am home made small flapjack 1 satsuma
1pm leek potato soup and 2 slices of soda bread, 1 satsuma
4pm, crumbs from around the flapjacks
6pm chicken breast, salad and 3 crackers.

Raspberry12 · 13/01/2022 23:25

Busy day with errands around town so a high step count of 24k!!! But I have so much work to catch up on tomorrow as a result.

Breakfast: 1 boiled egg

Lunch: sweet potato and spinach soup + 2 oatcakes and cottage cheese

Dinner: leftover roast veg, spicy minced beef and brown basmati rice

Snacks: macchiato, flat white, raspberries, blueberries, greek yoghurt and a huge bar of almond chocolate (100g)!!!

Will my step count make up for my chocolate intake today? 😂

I went out with a friend to see a play this evening and returned home late and super hungry hence the massively indulgent late night snack. Although both the play and the chocolate were great 😊

ImALittlePea · 14/01/2022 07:03

Morning, just weighed in and I've lost 6lb so far this year! Sooooo happy!

I'm not eating dinner at home tonight and I'm not going to be calorie counting so I need something very low on cals that will keep me going for lunch today. Dinner is likely to be quite heavy on cheese and bread, so want to avoid both. Any ideas?

campingqueen121 · 14/01/2022 07:35

Thanks all for the motivation, I know it's early days but it's definitely been soo much easier doing this with support of this group. I'm so pleased with the changes I've managed to make, I just have to keep it up and the weight off. I've decided I'll weigh in with the majority next Wednesday, don't think I have enough will power left to wait 2 weeks.

Well done @ImALittlePea. How about sardines on ryvita or something like that?

I'm having my dad over tonight for fish and chips so it's going to be special k for breakfast, a carrot juice etc for lunch and snacks of rice cake and banana.

Keep up the good work all x

ImALittlePea · 14/01/2022 07:40

I don't eat fish/seafood @campingqueen121 but something else on ryvita is a good shout! Off to the supermarket after school run so I'll have a rummage 😊

129orbust · 14/01/2022 08:01

Well done everyone on the focus and loses too.
132.4 for me so another 0.4lb - just in time for the weekend but I'll try and stay a bit more focused this weekend than last!

galacticpixels · 14/01/2022 08:24

Allotment123 - it's taken me a while to figure out the right amount/spacing of food to keep the hunger away. Yesterday I skipped my afternoon snack as I had a load of work calls, and then after dinner I was starved. I am apparently a creature of habit...

Morning everyone.

I'm going to head out for a walk now, and then another walk at lunch. For lunch I'm having a bean burger, and for dinner I'm doing "fakeaway" General Tsos Chicken.

Tomorrow will be a test. We're going to visit some friends for the evening so there will be a lot of food around. I'm going to give myself permission to enjoy it (without going overboard) and then get right back on it Sunday morning. I'm very bad for letting one "off plan" day ruin me for months so this will be a challenge! I'll go for a hike Saturday morning as well to balance the day out a little.

TheRealHousewife · 14/01/2022 09:14

Good Morning All

Another glorious day here. TBH I prefer these sunny crisp days to red hot summer days. Attached photo of where I’m walking 🥶.

A warm welcome to the thread @ImALittlePea, you’ve come to the righ5 place for support and motivation. Some great people here.

Hi Darling @129orbust 😬😅 I often call people darling 👍.

@2022weightlossusername great loss 👍👏

@Allotment123 feeling more hungry could be due to too many carbs/insulin/unstable blood sugars and not enough protein. Or you might not be eating enough.

Menu
Meal 1 - Vegetable Soup.
Meal 2 - Chicken, red pepper, green pepper, red onion, broccoli stir fry.
Tea, black coffee, water, pecans, small apple.

Enjoy your day! Remember try not to sweat the slips. Look at the bigger picture. One or two poor choices does not undo all the progress you’ve made to date. Every day is an opportunity for a reset 😬👍

Morning all 🙂

Day 13 - Fri 14th Jan - 9s 4 & 1/2lb

Completely knackered after yesterday! More racing about later...

I seem to have stalled around 9s 4lb even though I'm eating little & (apparently) burning up calories. I should have the analyser scales back tonight & am really interested to see what my body fat is. If this weight is the new normal I might go more on body fat as well as how I feel in my clothes 🤔

8stone13 · 14/01/2022 09:17

@TheRealHousewife Gorgeous photo 🙂

8stone13 · 14/01/2022 09:18

@129orbust Ah your message to your DH was lovely - made me smile ☺️

129orbust · 14/01/2022 09:23

Thanks @TheRealHousewife and @8stone13 Grin
He had found jars of Whole Earth crunchy peanut butter for £2.35 at Waitrose.com and asked if I would like 2!
A cup of tea every morning and well priced peanut butter - that man knows the way to my heart!

ginsparkles · 14/01/2022 09:56

What a stunning photo @TheRealHousewife !
