HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@DontWantTheRivalry, I’ve had a whole week of the diet! Don’t beat yourself up over a single day. Also, and I mean this kindly, if you stop attaching value judgements to your food (such as “naughty”) you may feel less guilty. It’s just food and having more than usual of a high calorie food is not a moral failing!

I’m still stressed to the max, so have been taking it easy. No calorie counting all week, as I’ve learnt over the last year that restricting myself when I feel like this usually backfires. I’m still going strong on the exercise, so at least that’s a positive. I’m hoping to get back on plan today, or failing that, tomorrow 🤞

campingqueen121 · 15/01/2022 14:47

Well done everyone on the good choices and continued losses.

@ginsparkles well done I feel you. I'm a nightmare on my period, crave chocolate so badly, so will need so much will power to get me through when it comes.

@DontWantTheRivalry, if you're anything like me a few weeks ago almost everyday was a naughty day. Now eating something like a pizza will be a treat day and something to look forward too.

Meals today
Breakfast : special k with skimmed milk
Lunch : Mackerel salad
Dinner : Chicken stir fry

Will do T25 speed workout tonight

Keep up the good work all.

8stone13 · 15/01/2022 17:45

@DontWantTheRivalry I completely agree with the others - one day off the diet won't harm you, many people find that having one day a week off actually helps them keep going on the other 6. And I think others are right when they say there's a danger in seeing some foods as 'bad' because it's not helpful to see things as forbidden fruit as it were, especially if we're hoping to make long term & sustainable changes to eating. Don't beat yourself up 🙂

If you're a pizza fan have you tried the M&S Count on Us one? It's only just over 300 calories & is the nearest I've found to the taste of a Domino's/Papa Johns or similar 😀 🍕

SunshineCake1 · 15/01/2022 17:55

Thank you @129orbust and @Graphista.

Sadly it isn't a situation that will be resolved soon as it is very serious but I am doing everything I can to support her.

pixiedust21 · 15/01/2022 18:24

takes deep breath

Hi everyone. A little late to the party but I’m clambering / dragging myself aboard the weight loss bus, if you’ll have me.

I’ve been overweight a long time but any plans to finally lose it were quashed last year when I became pregnant. I now have an 11 week old, and no more excuses to continue eating this badly.

In the past I’ve tried slimming world (a few times!) but this time it’s going to be slow and steady, eat less (and more of the right things) and move more. I aim to increase my daily steps and make sure I’m walking every day, eventually I’d like to do couch to 5K again.

I’m going to reduce the rubbish snacks and fizzy drinks, replace them with good choices. I know what to do, it’s just a case of doing it. I’m 35 and a mum now so I’m a bit like, come on maybe time to get your act together!

I have an awful lot to lose - a good few stone. I’m going to weigh in tomorrow and report back as I’d like to have some accountability.

Look forward to hopefully sharing this journey with you all and not failing on day one 🤣

8stone13 · 15/01/2022 18:58

Welcome @pixiedust21 & congratulations on your little one. 11 weeks, how lovely ☺️

You'll find a lot of support on this thread, no judgements, just lots of encouragement & helpful ideas. Good luck 🙂

SunshineCake1 · 15/01/2022 20:17

Welcome @pixiedust21 and congrats on your baby. How gorgeous. I met a seven week old last week and he waved at me Grin. I also have a 2 month old living next door and a new baby coming three doors down.

You know what to do and you can do it but remember you have just spent nearly a year growing an actual person. Make sure you take the time to rest.

Raspberry12 · 15/01/2022 20:25

Congratulations on the baby :) @pixiedust21 it takes time to recover and come out of the post pregnancy body and feel yourself again but luckily you have a little one to cuddle while you do. I found going for a walk with the sling or pushchair helped with the step count. 11 weeks is early days so be kind to yourself :)

My meals today were…

Breakfast: buckwheat pancakes, cream, blackberries and raspberries

Lunch: stir fried chicken breast with tomatoes, white basmati rice and avocado

Dinner: leftover chicken breast made into a warm salad with kale, sweetcorn, tomatoes and avocado

Snacks: 1 black filter coffee, flat white, pistachios, slice of lemon drizzle cake! (My toddler and I did some baking today)

10k step count today and 30 mins yoga 💪🏼 I can feel my core getting stronger with a bit less shaking in plank pose today.

pixiedust21 · 15/01/2022 20:55

Thank you, ladies! And yes he’s so little still, and although I (thankfully) feel much improved 11 weeks on I know I still need to take it easy. But I know that eating well and exercising will help everything.

Honestly I don’t think I could physically fit another biscuit in me 🤣

I actually find walking pretty boring on its own so having the pram is a good incentive! See I knew a baby had to be handy for something!

Raspberry12 · 15/01/2022 21:30

I can’t think of any worse fashion trend for my muffin top www.theguardian.com/fashion/2022/jan/15/low-rise-jeans-are-back-and-the-lower-the-better
😂 I remember wearing these in the early 00s 🙈
My eternal search for the perfect new trousers / jeans which are flattering and comfy goes on…

swampytiggaa · 16/01/2022 08:14

Another small loss this morning bringing me to 137lbs exactly. This job is doing wonders for my weight loss 😂😂 don’t have time to eat and physically active.

ginsparkles · 16/01/2022 11:23

Morning!

Well done @swampytiggaa !!

Currently showing a maintain for me, but with being on my period I think it's to be expected. Have been sticking to calorie limit but only just! Slight more snacks that normal this week. Blooming hormones!!

Todays plan:
Meal one - uninspiring salad with baby bel cheese, yoghurt and a small packet of Cadbury mini fingers!
Meal two - lasagne (DD's favourite!!)

8stone13 · 16/01/2022 12:30

Day 15 - Sun 16th Jan - 9s 4 & 1/2lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.1

Last night was the first time since new year that I’ve pigged out 😀 I had an M&S Count on Us pizza - I love them & they’re only just over 300 calories. Then I had a whole 110g Mini Egg chocolate bar 🍫 I haven’t enjoyed chocolate so much in ages! Then I had a few pieces of fudge. I’d walked loads & hadn’t had anything since breakfast, & my stats yesterday were good so I decided I deserved it. I think when I get to a point where I’m happy with my weight (& I may be pretty much there) I’m going to let myself do that sort of thing on a Saturday night whilst my gf & I enjoy a DVD or similar. It was good for the soul. Just can't do it every day like I used to!

SunshineCake1 · 16/01/2022 13:33

Well done @swampytiggaa.

I did my second run on the treadmill this morning. It's harder than outside and frustrating when I pulled the safety thing off as it wipes all the data. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. Weight wise 😶

Akitamum · 16/01/2022 14:43

Hello, just catching up, I need to get better at checking in to keep me accountable! Been a busy week, pup was ill, work was full on and I haven't been doing as well as I should. Need to get in the zone, then I do pretty well at losing weight. Feeling a little lost on the best way to do it so been looking at everyone's posts for inspiration. Unsure if 16:8 is working for me, I get the munchies when home from work and often make bad choices Blush Having a think about what to make for next week's lunches and going to head out to the supermarket.

Youdoyoutoday · 16/01/2022 14:58

I'm not feeling very positive today, I've really lost my way!!

I've gained 3lbs since the new year, I'm drinking too much as I knew I was going out last night so I've just carried on drinking.
As of tomorrow I really to get my arse in gear! Back to bootcamp, swimming a d concentrate on getting early nights too! I really want to do the Saturday session at bootcamp this week too.

Recycledblonde · 16/01/2022 15:02

I’m not sure I’ll lose anything this week but clothes feel looser at least. Night shifts this week and the heating has broken at work. Being cold always makes me want to eat more.

marmilade92 · 16/01/2022 15:03

Weighed myself today and I've maintained. I like to think I don't know how I managed that while sticking to the plan but in reality a little bit of cheating here and there just adds up over time. I might have had a few celebrations here and a Jim beam and coke there. I don't want to have to be so strict with myself but I feel like that's the only way to achieve weightloss especially for my height as every single calorie tends to show. I'm a bit disappointed but at least it isn't a gain. I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and see if there's a change because it might just be water from the salty dinner I had last night. I think I'm feeling more jiggly so I'm hoping that I have actually lost but I'll be more mindful this week.

Also, job has been sorted and I'm starting at the end of the month. I'm going to miss my baby so much!

TheRealHousewife · 16/01/2022 17:14

Welcome to the thread @pixiedust21 and congratulations on the arrival of your baby. Baby steps, you’ll still be healing 😊

@Youdoyoutoday Don’t be too hard on yourself, put it behind you, up the protein and water. You’ll soon regain your equilibrium.

@Akitamum I’d plan meals then make a list. Perhaps allow for a healthy snack for when you get home from work, which will help maintain blood sugar levels and keep the snack dragon 🐉 away. Good luck 👍

Woop Woop fr @swampytiggaa 👍👏🏅

@Raspberry12 I’m that vertically challenged low rise jeans still come up to my waist 😬

@DontWantTheRivalry it’ll be ok. Don’t be tough on yourself. Every day is a fresh start Flowers

There are posts on the previous page but can’t go back as I don’t want to risk losing this post. Sorry if I’ve missed a tag.

Enjoy your evening 👍😊

Somehow on a 20k step count today! 🚶‍♀️

Meals -

Breakfast:
Carbs, butter and lots of milk 😊 We went out to one of my fav bakeries. Had half a cinnamon bun, half a pain au chocolate and a cappuccino ☕️ 🥐

Lunch: half an avocado, boiled egg, roasted peppers and a slice of sourdough toast

Dinner: minced beef, black beans + kale and cheese on toast. Avocado and tomato salad

Snacks: raspberries, blackberries, pistachios and a scoop of cookies and cream ice-cream.

I’m often searching for a snack when I get home hungry too. I’ve recently been having a handful of pistachios which seems to curb my hunger enough to not reach for chocolate etc. They are very tasty too 😋

I love having some carby and sugary things at the weekends. It’s a bit of variety from my usual menu and makes me actually look forward to having healthier choices by Monday morning.

Anyone got any high protein quick breakfast ideas?

declutteringmymind · 16/01/2022 18:29

Hi all.

@pixiedust21 they're only little once so make sure you enjoy every minute.

Well done on everyone's losses. Those who are struggling, draw a line, deep breath. All is not lost.

I'm 2lb down this week which I'm happy with. I've navigated a lunch out and a takeaway this week so I've not stopped living. I'd rather have slightly lower weight loss if I feel as though im not missing out. It's going to take months to get to where I want to be so it's got to work with my lifestyle. I've not set myself a goal - just to get as far as I can.

I'd love people to share their NSVs too as it's those really that we want to achieve by losing weight. Everything else is just numbers.

swampytiggaa · 16/01/2022 18:45

Finished work earlier than expected so I’ve had sticky toffee pudding and custard for tea 😋 😋 fasting now 👍

campingqueen121 · 16/01/2022 21:19

My littlie has been full on this weekend, meltdown after meltdown which has resulted in me feeling too exhausted to exercise, which I'm really disappointed about but I just don't have the energy.

Meals today
Breakfast : salmon, eggs, asparagus and seasame Seed ryvita.
Lunch : 2x Rice cake and a Carrot, apple, lemon and ginger juice
Dinner : beef Stew with kale and brocolli
Snacks : banana and grapes

I haven't drank nearly enough water today.

It's a new day tomorrow, I'm going to kick start it with an early morning walk.

Stay focused all, we can do this.

galacticpixels · 16/01/2022 21:48

Sitting here getting myself organised for the week ahead. The weekend went fine - went for a big hike on Saturday morning. Went to a friend's house for dinner/games Saturday night. Did induldge in some treats but stayed off the alcohol.

Absolutely wrecked today after a very late night but got my steps, the weekly food shop done, and ate well. Lunch was a bean burger, and dinner was a tofu stir fry. Currently have a sweet potato and coconut soup bubbling away for lunches for a few days.

Hope the week ahead goes well for everyone!

Akitamum · 16/01/2022 23:59

Thanks @TheRealHousewife, I just need to be more organised. Planned healthy lunches to take to work so feeling a bit more positive. That's a good idea to have a snack in mind for when I get home, will help avoid the less than healthy choices I usually make when I am hungry and waiting for dinner to cook. Going to up my water too which I think will help.
