HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I have it cold @DontWantTheRivalry, usually for lunch as I don’t really eat breakfast

I find this so strange as breakfast is so important to me. I have to eat within an hour of waking up otherwise I just can’t function

It’s the first thing I think of when my eyes first open Grin

swampytiggaa · 05/01/2022 17:16

Done my second run of the day with child number 4. Run 3 has been cancelled as no one wants to run in my group so I’ve just eaten tea veggie cottage pie with broccoli cauliflower and carrots. Started my fast now 😊

SunshineCake1 · 05/01/2022 18:18

Well done @swampytiggaa.

I'm getting a bit obsessed as had another walk with the dog this afternoon so logged three totals on my chart but I've off set it by eating some chocolate Yule log and vanilla cream Grin.

TheRealHousewife · 05/01/2022 18:39

Evening All

I had a menu swap today. I swapped salmon for chicken as the salmon needed using first. Very filling!

That looks delicious @PopcornFiend 😋

@DontWantTheRivalry I used to be like you about breakfast. In fact when I was getting up at 06:00 am for work, I’d have 1st breakfast at around 07:00am and a second one 10:00 😬. My eating habits have totally changed now and I really don’t have any appetite before noon usually.

@swampytiggaa wow 😮 that’s awesome! Well done you. You’ve definitely certainly seen those pesky mince pies off now! 😬

swampytiggaa · 05/01/2022 18:50

2022k is about 1265 miles. I’ll see what I can do 👍 So far done just over 15 miles walking and running.

swampytiggaa · 05/01/2022 18:51

@TheRealHousewife I still have more mince pies to get through 😂😂

DontWantTheRivalry · 05/01/2022 18:54

That looks delicious therealhousewife!

I’ve just forced a bowl of stew down my throat. I’m sure it’s great for reducing calorie intake but there’s nothing enjoyable about it.

8stone13 · 05/01/2022 19:10

@DontWantTheRivalry I never ate breakfast until I moved to northern Scotland, I went from feeling almost nauseous at the thought of eating before 10am to suddenly not being able to function without eating pretty much as soon as I got up. I don't know if it was a colder weather thing, or a late twenties shift...but I've always needed breakfast since.

I got hungry mid-afternoon today & really enjoyed a pink grapefruit. Have just had last night's leftover pasta bake for dinner which was fab.

TheRealHousewife · 05/01/2022 19:29

Nooooo… poor Manpreet … Feel physically sick at that horrid Meena story line in Emmerdale 🥺

OP posts:
SunshineCake1 · 05/01/2022 19:31

Me too @TheRealHousewife. I've just read through all the listings for the next few days to see if there is anything about Manpreet and nothing Sad. Think this storyline will get complaints.

Raspberry12 · 05/01/2022 19:47

Another 16k step count on my walks today. It is bitterly cold in London so I picked up the pace to warm up! 20 mins before work, 30 mins at lunch time and 30 mins after work.

My meals today were;

Breakfast: cooked apple with cinnamon, toasted oats, linseeds, walnuts and a dollop of greek yoghurt.

Lunch: I went out for a burger with my daughter and husband Grin Had a beef burger and shared a portion of fries + an oreo milkshake three ways.

Dinner: braised chicken with sweet potatoes and kale.

Snacks: raspberries, blueberries, 1 flat white, 1 black filter coffee

I managed to up my water intake today… I made an effort to drink a couple of glasses before breakfast which seems to help me drink more throughout the day.

TheRealHousewife · 05/01/2022 20:06

Most definitely @SunshineCake1 … I’ve even googled for spoilers … nothing. It’s an awful storyline!

Wow @Raspberry12 you’re bossing it! 👍👏🏅

@TheRealHousewife thanks 🙏 love the encouragement on here… I am pretending that the burger, fries and milkshake today are part of my plan! 😂 I don’t think I can be healthy without the occasional food treats… I’ve found sharing these with family make the portions smaller for all of us and better for the bank account too!

If anyone is looking to get a Peloton this year, I have 10 friends and family uses left on my discount code - £100 off accessories for the bike (you can spend on weights, mats, peloton shoes etc).

Use the code at checkout: AKA7H7

Hi all, this thread moves so fast! @TheRealHousewife dinner looks great! I love salmon.

Hope everyone is doing well. This is usually the point I start weakening (day 5!) but not this time. I think it helps that I am really enjoying WW but also completely changing my sugar intake is massively, massively helping.

Here’s what I’ve eaten today:

Breakfast: cold skinny latte x 2 (normally would eat something as well, but didn’t fancy it today) they are the Emmi brand and don’t have added sugar, although they do have a bit of sweetener.

Lunch: whole meal pitta, salami and hard boiled egg. Lots of carrot sticks and cherry tomatoes with reduced fat hummus.

Snack after work: 2 x 0% sugar/fat Actimel drinks, packet of baked crisps and a coffee with skimmed milk

Dinner: jacket potato with light spread, homemade Bolognese containing onions, carrots, peppers, passata and extra lean mince, sprinkled with a small amount of cheddar cheese.

After dinner: hot chocolate made with skimmed milk and sugar free caramel syrup and an apple, chopped, with a spoon of peanut butter.

Water (better today) and Diet Coke.

8stone13 · 05/01/2022 21:05

@Raspberry12 I'm exactly the same. I had a major problem with hydration years ago - I could get to 3pm without having consumed a single mouthful of fluid 😬 I find if I drink water first thing it seems to spur me on to drink more of it throughout the day.

I've just had a handful of nuts as I was hungry. I think yesterday's lack of food has caught up with me.

justjuggling · 05/01/2022 21:16

Is it just me or does anyone else get spot break outs when you start back on healthy eating again?

ginsparkles · 05/01/2022 21:38

That salmon looked lovely @TheRealHousewife !

I have the same issue with hydration, years of being a sales rep in the car all day built a bad habit of not drinking any where near enough. But managed to get through 2 litres again today.

Finished the day on about 1000 calories, which is lower than I planned but I didn't feel hungry after my dinner.

Tomorrow will be a trickier day. It's my day off so boredom eating tends to set in. So am off for a good long dog walk in the morning with my friend. Then I'll come home have lunch and clean out the guineas which will keep me occupied for a fair while before DD comes home. Fingers crossed.

2022success · 05/01/2022 21:43

@justjuggling my acne is dreadful. Even broken out on my throat and neck Sad I am telling myself it's "the toxins" wending their way out of my body.

I weigh every day to keep focused but am enough of a veteran that I don't get totally discouraged at a blip. However my weigh in day is Saturday so will publish my weekly progress then.

I had a really busy day today as decided last minute to apply for a new job and the application has to be in tomorrow lunchtime. I usually do 16:8 but didn't want to risk skipping breakfast when my brain had to be on top form so I had
B: a small bowl of Frosties with milk.
L: a boiled egg with salad leaves and beetroot
D: Didn't finish the application until 8 so I just had a low cal Chicken Tikka Masala ready meal
S: Tea. Fibre One Cereal bar.

Didn't have time to exercise today and am shattered so off to bed but will try to get a good walk in tomorrow. Keep going everyone!!

SunshineCake1 · 05/01/2022 21:45

I was feeling like I wanted something to eat a couple of hours ago. Dh pointed out I was fasting. I think it is the first time he's remembered ! I didn't give in and planned to have a square of chocolate when I came up to bed. Posting a win as I didn't. Feel very proud. Especially as having hot flush, just had consequences from my surgery - ouch - and I'm tired.

marmilade92 · 05/01/2022 22:01

Tough day. Baby was really unsettled and crying a lot today and I've started my period so I was totally bleugh and stressed out, but still managed to stick to the plan. Didn't drink enough water though and I think it's because I'm feeling cold. I don't particularly want to drink cold water when it's cold outside.

Meals: Huel shake, Tesco slim bar, stew and one slice of wholegrain bread.
Snacks: Yoghurt, carrots and houmous, and chocy whip bar.

buzzofthebumblebee · 05/01/2022 22:23

I don't seem to be doing as well as I was before Christmas/Covid. I know exactly what to do. I just need my head to click into the right mindset. Very frustrating. Hopefully more positive vibes from me tmw!

TheRealHousewife · 05/01/2022 22:47

Handhold @buzzofthebumblebee we all get like that sometimes in that we know what we need to be doing but can’t be arsed or our bodies/mind have other ideas Be kind to yourself and I’m sure you’ll be back to it in no time.

Bless ya’ @marmilade92 sounds like you’ve had a tough day of it. In regards to water I sometimes have plain hot water (boiled, not the hot water tap) and i find it a bit better, especially in colder weather.

Well done @SunshineCake1 for swerving the chocolate! 👍👏

Sorry to read about your acne @2022success, it’s so upsetting! I didn’t have acne as a teenager but did develop it in my mid twenties. Soul destroying it was so you have my upmost sympathy. Could it be hormone related?

It was lovely @ginsparkles and it bumped my protein up for the day. Win win.

Great menu @hopingforabrighterfuture2021 👍😋

Night all
