HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Weighed in this morning at 10st 6.25, so that’s 1.25lb down since Monday. Hoping for a 3lb loss this week.
Netball was tough last night and I need to get my fitness back up before the league starts back up in 3 weeks!

TheRealHousewife · 05/01/2022 08:18

Good Morning All

@8stone13 Good point you made, to learn to eat only when feeling true hunger is a skill to learn for those of us who can emotionally eat in response to uncomfortable feelings that arise that we address by eating rather than confronting.

Welcome to the thread @Gottoloveatakeaway @giroux @

@justjuggling I think that is a great idea about journaling exercise, food & mood. They are definitely interlinked!

@Backofthenet20 great loss! Something is working.

@129orbust that’s a good loss considering you’re nearly at goal! 👍

@Allotment123 1.5lbs is a great loss! 👏

@swampytiggaa fab loss 👍👏

WOW is a 1lb loss since 1st January. I’m pleased with that. Same again next week please 😬

Menu
Meal 1 - Guacamole & gluten free crackers, sliced peppers & celery sticks.
Meal 2 - Chicken, sweet potato, red pepper, red onion, carrot, broccoli tray bake.
Tea, coffee, pecan nuts.

Morning all 🙂

Day 4 - Weds 5th Jan - 9s 6lb = 1.5lb loss 😮

I ate little yesterday as I wasn't really hungry, my metabolism has definitely got into weight loss mode. But I still didn't expect a 1.5lb loss. I wonder if I'll be starving today 🤔

The last couple of years I've got lots of things done that I've been planning on doing for years but kept putting off, from doing my family tree to re-organising my house to visiting places I've always wanted to go (when able.) I've been thinking of what's left on the list & remembered I've always fancied tap dancing. I was always a lover of dancing, my grandma was a tiller girl & we used to dance & talk about her time on the stage. I've been looking at tap shoes online - I reckon this could be a way of getting some exercise & doing something I enjoy in the privacy of my own kitchen where no-one can see me make an arse of myself 😀

@8stone13 what a brilliant idea … get them! And as you say it’ll all add to your exercise. I bet your grandma had some lovely tales to tell from her time as a Tiller girl.

That's great @TheRealHousewife, thanks. Rings many bells Smile

She was brilliant @TheRealHousewife. When she was about my age (which I can just remember from my early childhood) she was always "slimming." She was never big but like me had always been active and didn't like to carry excess pounds. I have her exact body shape - in photos we're identical. In clothes from the 1940s I look very authentic to the time period!

Have a great day Smile

ShoppingBasket · 05/01/2022 08:51

Weighed in, lost 2lbs. Very happy with that as have been finishing off Christmas food and also had a takeaway New Years. Aiming for 2lb next week.
Need to up my exercise this week, as @TheRealHousewife it isn't just for calorie loss. Once kids are back to school I hopefully will be in a bit more of a routine.
Yesterday was really good day food wise and the sluggish feeling is gone.
Today Meal 1 fruit and fibre
Meal 2 cottage pie
Meal 3 slim bagel cheese and tomato. I'm obsessed with this at moment Grin
Snacks carrot sticks with low fat hummus satsuma, grapes, skinny whip bar.

Start weight 11 stone 6lbs
Current weight 11 stone 4lbs
Target 9stone 6lbs

Well done to everyone on their losses and small wins Flowers

129orbust · 05/01/2022 08:53

Well done @Allotment123 and @swampytiggaa**
That's a great start for you both.I'm a daily weigher also @swampytiggaa as I find it very motivating and mind focusing.
Very glad to be WFH today as it is freezing in London but with lovely sunshine and I am very grateful for not having to brave public transport.
Will try and be a bit more active today.

129orbust · 05/01/2022 08:58

Whoops - that will teach me to type too slowly - well done to everyone else who lost as well and a wave to @TheRealHousewife and @SunshineCake1 - I hope 2022 is a good year for everyone healthwise.

Crazzzycat · 05/01/2022 09:09

Well done on those losses everyone!

I’m another one who weights daily and my numbers have been all over the place this week. I’m not going to take them too seriously until I detect a clearer trend, so no weigh in from me this week.

I had another good day yesterday. I did an hour on the cross trainer, which always makes me feel super fit (and tired!). Food wise, things went pretty well, but I feel a bit stuck in a food rut. I need some inspiration!

HostessTrolley · 05/01/2022 09:23

Weigh in Wednesday 17st 4

Start weight 31/12/21 17st 5
5/1/22 17st 4
Goal 12st 7

Starting today - 16/8, increasing protein, increasing water, aiming for 1.5l which is a big aim for me as I’m rubbish at drinking. The last few days I’ve had New Years and am just getting back to normal food - the Christmas food has pretty much gone

Well done to all who’ve got started earlier :)

flower3305 · 05/01/2022 09:25

Weigh in this morning 12st 10lbs not movement- but not a huge shock as been eating Christmas treats still.

Focusing g in a loss this week and increased exercise am feeling happy I have managed to get out twice in two days for walks.

Someone has suggested 16:8 to me I haven't tried before and am a little unsure had anyone had success with this method?

swampytiggaa · 05/01/2022 09:39

@flower3305 I’m doing 16:8 tbh it’s working out more like 19:5 at the minute 😂😂

It works for me because I close my eating window after my evening meal which stops me from snacking. Plus I find if I have breakfast I don’t stop eating all morning but if I can get over the initial hunger pangs at breakfast time I’m absolutely fine to go to 12ish

Just been for my first run of today 😊 only 1 mile but my friend is really pleased with herself. We’re going to do a little bit more tomorrow morning as long as she is ok after today

Lupinspotato · 05/01/2022 09:52

Wow, lots of great starts here. Completely agree about learning to eat when you’re hungry. I definitely eat when I’m not hungry, just because it’s dinner time etc.

Start: 11 stone 4
05/01/22: 11 stone 2.5
Goal: 9 stone 7
I’m really pleased with that start. I’ve been doing yoga daily and cut my calories down to 1400 and trying to walk 10k steps. I aim to start c25k soon and home exercises too.

2022wontbecrap · 05/01/2022 09:55

Day 1 (had to wait for kids to go back to school!)

Start Weight 250lbs Shock
Goal Weight 168lbs (12 stone)

Feeling positive Smile

Rshard · 05/01/2022 10:00

Some great losses, wow well done!

2lbs down from 1 January for me, which I’m ready pleased with. Feel in the groove and so much less bloated as others have mentioned.

Cold and sunny here so looking forward to a lunch time walk

galacticpixels · 05/01/2022 10:16

Good morning everyone. Loving reading everyone's progress. I started a new job so haven't had much time to post (but impressed myself with being able to stay organised with food and exercise despite stress/busyness) but I did weigh in this morning.

I'm down 1lb since last Wednesday. I'm very happy with because I didn't get home from visiting family until Sunday night, so I've only been properly committed since then.

I want to lose 2lb by next Wednesday.

Purplepeopleeaterz · 05/01/2022 10:31

There are some great losses here already!

Weighed in today and have lost 1.5lbs which is a great start, however I am clearly entering the stage of life where just bending over can throw your back out (& did) so no exercise for now which is really annoying as I had only just started again properly and was enjoying it.

2022weightlossusername · 05/01/2022 10:38

Day 1 for me too!

Aiming for 1200 calories.

Eggs for breakfast and planning homemade soup for lunch.

Tea and snacks TBC.

Good luck everyone and well done on the losses so far!

cherrytree63 · 05/01/2022 11:12

01/01 62.8
04/04 62.3
Nice downward trend from cutting chocolate and crisps.
Had my hand surgery yesterday, afterwards they gave me a cheese sandwich that was too dry for me to swallow so I had some biscuits that kicked off my cravings which made me cranky Grin but I resisted.
Today I'm 64kg, hopefully that's from the drop and I'm a bit binged up.

cherrytree63 · 05/01/2022 11:13

bunged

FireworkParrot · 05/01/2022 11:25

I'm doing 16:8 too and agree that it is a case of getting over the hunger in the morning and it curbs the evening snacking.

I'm doing 12pm to 8pm as my eating window and then only zero calorie drinks outside of those hours. I'm slowly getting used to black coffee in the morning but it's not too bad because if I feel hungry or want something in particular I tell myself I can have it later. If I want some chocolate or something after dinner I tell myself I can have it but must finish before 8pm so it stops me mindlessly eating non stop in front of the TV in the evening.

Yesterday's dinner was omelette and salad, I actually enjoyed it although neither DD ate it which I wasn't surprised about but I want to keep offering them healthy meals. They ended up having some crackers and some yoghurt instead (they're 4 and 2 and I refuse to cook multiple separate meals.)

Little win yesterday was that I went to a café and only ordered a lemon and ginger tea. It was mid morning and I didn't want to break my fast. Previously I'd have had a latte and probably a cake too!
