HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@SunshineCake1

Happy new year to everyone. I love ducks so 2022 is great for me Grin.

@swampytiggaa now that dh is retired we have dinner earlier and if I can persuade him to have our main meal at lunch, or at least a bigger lunch, then I like a small early tea around 5 and that means a longer fasting time. I get to see fat burning on my app then.

. Go cold turkey with the bread if that will work for you but if not cut down a slice at a time.

Welcome back @cherrytree63. I can not bare to throw food away so I'll most definitely be eating the lovely Gu pudding in the fridge! We also have tonnes of Christmas food left and lots and lots of chocolate but the latter will just be enjoyed minimally to make it last and not make me feel like I am missing out.

@Tinabn welcome. Sorry to hear you have family members with difficulties but that is a good incentive and we are all here to support you. The kick I needed to start running was being overweight, having asthma and covid. My asthma is almost gone, I did lose three stone but put one back on after having glandular fever but I'll get it off again.

@Crazzzycat I've found some large pieces of paper and I'm going to stick them on my bathroom wall and note when I run and walk to make the 2022km for 2022 challenge. Can't run for a few days if not two weeks but on Monday I am hoping to walk with dh and our dog.

Welcome @RestingStitchFace and good luck.

Thanks Sunshine, it could go both ways and 2022 eventually sees a better life for them but there are painful and frightening paths to take first. It is so hard to see people you love suffering physically and mentally. I have just done a 4000 step Lucy Wyndham-Read workout, the first exercise since the end of November, the poorly arm survived, I’ll see if it complains later. Don’t think I’ll try weights yet though! Carrot and parsnip soup for lunch

Cross posted …

@Bridetobe2 Try to not worry TMI … a good 💩 is what you need. Up the water 💦👍

@shutthedamndoor a warm welcome. You’ve come to the right place for support & inspiration 👍. You can do this!

@EnglishMuffins a warm welcome. I share the same body shape and every extra lb shows! We are having a lamb roast today. I don’t normally have breakfast and by the time the roast is on the table (2:30 - 3:00) I find I don’t want anything else the rest of the day so it ends up being OMAD (not saying this is what you should do!)

Well I got in the scales this morning 9'9lb so 9 lb to lose. I have lost 6 and a half stone over the last18 months and just put nine pound on this last month. I do NOT want to go back!!

SunshineCake1 · 01/01/2022 10:11

Not at all happy with what the scales just said

12 stone 0.4lbs. 76.4 kg. So almost back to my starting couch 25 k weight. Trying to be rational with what has been happening since September but I'm upset and a bit scared tbh I'm just going to be obese again. Also these last few days haven't been eating normally as had to fast and other bits and bobs.

TheRealHousewife · 01/01/2022 10:11

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants wow 😮 that’s a fantastic transformation. You are so right about reining it back in now before it takes hold. Good luck !

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants wow that’s amazing! Sorry if you’ve already said but how did you lose so much?

2022weightlossusername · 01/01/2022 10:16

@NoodleSlurper people with ADHD lack dopamine so we are constantly on the scrounge for more and can get it so easily from food! Then other ADHD issues make it hard to lose weight if you are overweight eg not being able to stick to things (diet, exercise regime) due to becoming bored. Weight can definitely be tricky if you have ADHD.

HostessTrolley · 01/01/2022 10:16

@SunshineCake1 which app do you use?

Roasteros · 01/01/2022 10:20

@Princessbubbles

Can I join please? I have about 3 stone to lose and totally lack willpower so hopefully joining you all will help. I’m going to try using MFP and a virtual gastric band hypnosis app I’ve downloaded. I’m desperate and really unhappy with my weight. I want to feel good about myself again.
Hi Princess, good luck with your plan. I lost four stone this year using the app and mfp. I've another two to go.
firefly123 · 01/01/2022 10:22

Please may I join? I have two stone to lose and determined not to feel fat frumpy anymore.

swampytiggaa · 01/01/2022 10:46

Weighed in at 10st 3.6lb this morning. I’d like to be 9st 7lb and more toned. I’ve done it before so I can do it again 👍

twinkydink · 01/01/2022 10:53

Weighed in at 13st 9lb this morning. I would love to be at 11.5st for my wedding. I have my hen do in April and I think think would feel good being at 12st for that so that's my first target. Ive decided to try 16:8 with my hours being 11 till 7 and really laying off the snacks because they are my downfall. Good luck everyone!

shutthedamndoor · 01/01/2022 10:57

Thankyou for the welcome! @SunshineCake1 my treadmill arrives on Wednesday, (also my 50th birthday).
I'll let you know how I get on!

GeorgiePorge · 01/01/2022 11:06

99kg. could cry that is 33kg to lose to get in a healthy bmi bracket.

seems a bit of an impossible task at the moment but I'll just try and take it a day at a time.

OH is busy eating the rest of last nights chocolate cake in an attempt to be supportive.

I'm going to track calories... but not entirely sure what to allow for bf my 3 month old...anyone else in same situation and can advise?
Good luck to everyone starting out today - and to those already on it much respect !

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 01/01/2022 11:10

@2022weightlossusername honestly I stopped pigging out and used my fitness pal to log exactly what I was eating, I am a massive carb fan and can't just eat one biscuit so when I wrote it down and realised I had to choose between 4 biscuits or a meal i eventually chose the meal 😂 I also did couch to 5k which I graduated and was running 5k 3 times a week but as I ran v early in the morning I stopped when I got followed by a car who turned their headlights off and slowly followed me and really creeped me out, though I have a treadmill I hate it!! I now have a new puppy who will be able to walk outside in a couple of weeks so that's going to give me a kick start I hope as I miss getting out! I genuinely feel so much better at this weight but I am terrified of letting it creep again.

goodjoujou · 01/01/2022 11:32

I’d like to join in please. I want to lose about 1.5 stone ahead of my 25th wedding anniversary trip in May (covid rules allowing!). I will be gymming 3 x per week and home workout twice a week and doing the fast diet which worked brilliantly for me 4 years ago.

SunshineCake1 · 01/01/2022 11:36

Wow @Fooshufflewickjbannanapants. How did you manage to lose so much? Well done you.

I'm laughing at being the only member of the 🐢🐢🐢club left it feels!!

SunshineCake1 · 01/01/2022 11:37
@SunshineCake1 which app do you use?
For intermittent fasting? It's the Zero one. Has an orange background with a tree in front of a sunset.

You are now my guru. Whether you like it or not Grin. I have got to get back to where I was and stop crying about it. I want to run!!! but since doing a couple of jobs and bending down has knackered me and made me feel achey I will have to wait.
SunshineCake1 · 01/01/2022 11:40

@GeorgiePorge if you do My Fitness Pal I think there is an option for stating you are breast feeding. Good luck.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 01/01/2022 11:40

Happy New Year all and thanks again for this thread. Have weighed in, (terrible!) re-taken the WW assessment quiz and starting today. No more excuses! Good luck to all.

Tinabn · 01/01/2022 12:07

Just started a new contact lens prescription this morning, looked in the mirror - it’s worse than I thought!

CrystalDeCanter · 01/01/2022 12:20

Hi all, I'd like to join too. Am a short old fatty who needs to lose 15kg.

I weighed in at 77.6kg when I started 2 weeks ago and am now 75kg, which at 5'2" is still v rotund.

I'd like to get to 60kg by tomorrow ideally but short of a new year miracle I reckon I could do it in 6 months

Am doing 16:8 and giving up the booze. But think I need to reduce carbs and up the veggies.

Also upping the exercise with a walking for weight loss app which is helping to keep me motivated.

Onward

melissasummerfield · 01/01/2022 12:58

Drank lots of Prosecco last night but stuck to my plan for Jan and did my first 30 min walk today.. I am embarrassingly hot and bothered and pretty sure my apple watch was about to phone an ambulance Grin

Smile Happy New Year everyone!

melissasummerfield · 01/01/2022 13:03

@GeorgiePorge don’t be disheartened, just focus on 1kg at a time Smile

I also recommend using nutracheck if you are calories counting, there is a small subscription fee but it will work out your cals including those you need for breastfeeding Smile
