Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

@DuckWithOneWing we’ll see those days again! I want to skip to my coffin, not be in the papers because the fire brigade had to take the windows out. 😂

Going well here. Weather has been beyond dire so I’ve done no exercise - and frankly, taking control of my food intake is enough of a challenge for this week.

Nonetheless I’m expecting a champion weigh-in on Monday having reached an all-time high this Monday gone - and when I’m that bloated all my “fat bits” actually ache - extra pressure/swelling? 🤷‍♀️

Unlike everyone else here - when I booze, I don’t eat. So I’m better off having a g&t and then I don’t want to eat at all. Healthy innit!

@HerRoyalHappiness

I'm making home made vegetable soup for tea with crusty bread

But I really want pizza

Melt a sprinkle of cheese on your crusty bread. It will make the meal a bit more filling and will feel indulgent.
HerRoyalHappiness · 05/01/2022 17:24

@Blossom64265 oooh good idea!

@Mumof2catsandpdakid

One important lesson I have learned is that following a prescribed diet is not necessary. The best weight loss diet for you is the one that works for you. A good plan will be something that is sustainable long term so it doesn’t need to be a radical change or all at once. You can start with something as simple as making sure you eat some protein with your breakfast or make sure you drink enough water.

I still eat whatever I want, I just limit portions and keep lots of high protein snacks around. That is what works for me. Other people have success with completely different approaches.

Hi everyone, was brave enough to go back to SW last night and had +5lbs which isn't too bad considering... I've made my peace with it anyway. Made an on plan slow cooker casserole for dinner and have done a treadmill session. Feeling like I'm finally going in the right direction now! Smile

DollyDingleberry · 05/01/2022 19:32

This was lovely this evening!

Parmesan chicken with roast potatoes, sprouts, leeks and onions. It felt like a real treat but it was really good on points!

Think that's me done for today thankfully. I've got space for a couple of coffees if I need another drink before bed. Today has been a bad pain/fatigue day though so I'm going to have an early night after the dogs have been walked.

Evening all, hope everyone is ok! Well done on some great days, hope you feel better soon @ShinyPikachu.

Good day here, really enjoying weight watchers and have had some lovely meals.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 05/01/2022 20:31

I can’t remember, who else is doing WW?

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 05/01/2022 20:48

I am, kind of. I don't really count points as such but I use ww menu cards for all my meals and try not to eat anything outside of that.
Katyppp · 05/01/2022 21:09

I am, and struggling with the new points if I am honest.
Yesterday I ate what would have been within points for the old system and when I totted it up, I was a massive 24 points over!
I really resent using up points for things I used to get free, such as porridge oats and brown rice.
Even today, I have been pretty good and I am still 5 points over.

When you did the questionnaire which food did you have for free? Is it worth revisiting that and choosing to have your carbs free to make your points go further?
BringBackCoffeeCreams · 05/01/2022 22:43

I have so far discover 3 underlying problems that massively affect my weight as they cause over eating/turn off the ''full' feeling.

Sleep apnea. People think it's caused by being overweight but often it's the other way round. Extreme sleep deprivation causes excessive hunger. This diagnosis/treatment started my weight loss quite dramatically.

Allergies. Get them buggers under control because they'll mess you up and have you over eating before you know it. I started gaining again after regularly eating kiwis. Took a while, and some weight gain, to realise I had to add them to my avoid at all costs list.

Medicines. Who reads the leaflets properly? I didn't know that my blood pressure medicine had rapid weight gain as a side affect. Took me 8 months to connect the always hungry feeling to starting the meds 2 weeks before the post kiwi weightloss wheels fell off.

So I have all three under control now, I hope. Just started different meds which don't make you hungry. So hopefully I can start going back down again.

elliejjtiny · 05/01/2022 23:00

I had a go at the shortest team RH workout today and it was really good. Really trying to increase my steps at the moment as I am so unfit and it's got to the point that I'm scared to take my autistic 7 year old out because he tends to run off and I can't chase him. Did 6692 steps today which is a massive improvement on my usual 2500. Kept calories on target as well, as long as I don't go and eat a load of crisps when I'm filling up the dc's water bottles in a minute.

@RunningInTheWind one of the main reasons for wanting to lose weight was that in our local church the entrance is quite narrow so some larger than average coffins have had to be hauled in via the window!

RunningInTheWind · 06/01/2022 06:46

@elliejjtiny 😱 I mean I know they say there’s no dignity in death - but that is next level.

coffeecreams guilty! I’m not a fan of RTFM. Would be nice to turn my back on the BP meds though with weight loss.

I have an important F2F meeting today - and although it’s for MY benefit and I’m the lead - he’s the professional. And I’m going to be worried about the size of my arse/silent judgement rather than brandishing my signature with a flourish.

HerRoyalHappiness · 06/01/2022 12:33

Well done @elliejjtiny on increasing your steps and the workout. I love the steps with Rach on YouTube. I can just March along and get loads of steps in.
@BringBackCoffeeCreams I'm on antidepressants and antipsychotics which both cause weight gain. Unfortunately I can't come off them because of how bad my MH I'd but I'm hoping I can limit the effects of them.
@RunningInTheWind anyone who secretly judges you is an arsehole.

We've all come down with a stomach bug today. Well, except DS1 who is not very pleased he's the only one who has to go to school Grin
Luckily it's Thursday so Chrissie will be live on teamRH heroes facebook page tonight so I can get some steps in then. I cant manage all the exercises they do, but I March along with them.

I had a good day yesterday! I'd planned all my meals so I just ate what was planned, and it worked really well. This morning I was so busy I didn't have chance to eat my breakfast but I kept on track and I'm still within my calories for the day.

DollyDingleberry · 06/01/2022 14:47

I took the baby swimming today and so far so good on food. Weetabix, soup and a cheese sandwich, then it’s spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Nothing too exciting but all tasty.

I just wanted to share a bit of research my friend shared with me:

If you remain on track on any diet for the first 14 days, you are statistically 12 times more likely to lose 10% of your body weight or more.

Those who stay on a plan for the first 4 weeks are 28 times more likely to reach their weight loss goals.

We can do absolutely anything for 14 days. It’s nothing.

HerRoyalHappiness · 06/01/2022 15:12

14 days is easy. We've got this.

OP posts:
RunningInTheWind · 06/01/2022 15:30

That’s great to hear and that was kind of how I was looking at this. That I CAN handle this for January and then a treat - not eating the treat shop! Grin

I’m currently an hour from home, starving hungry and have a boot full of supermarket sweep. I didn’t buy anything “snackable” so I’m. It devouring it. A win.

ShinyPikachu · 06/01/2022 18:09

Finally did our big shop today but made the mistake of shopping when I was hungry so fell foul of a meal deal with a prawn baguette. Picked water to drink rather than Coke at least so saved a good few calories on that part.

I stocked up on a few of the Morrisons own brand frozen ready meals and one WW one (not sure about other supermarkets but the WW ones are £1.50 in Morrisons right now. Smile Their own ones are only 99p.) Perfect for me for a bad pain/fatigue day especially if DH and DC are out or we do a "feed yourself" night depending on what people are doing.

I've counted everything so far though and have 750 calories left so even with the baguette and crisps for lunch I'm doing ok today.

HerRoyalHappiness · 06/01/2022 18:15

@ShinyPikachu I love the ww ready meals. So easy for when I'm having a bad day.

OMG just 14 days! We're nearly halfway through already! (Those of us that started at new year anyway)

We can do that. Keep going everyone!
