Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Hope it goes well @HerRoyalHappiness . I must admit I have never tried any of the meal replacement plans but can see how they would be good to kick start weight loss, or to shift the last few pounds. I don't think I would have the self discipline to stick with it, so doing it with your mum will help you with that.
I'm hoping that somehow this ridiculous heat will actually melt away some of my excess weight! I've actually ordered a small fan for my room at work to replace the one somebody took - I can't really whinge about it as it is worse in the classes when the children are all in. At least my room is usually just me and a small group of children.

HerRoyalHappiness · 12/07/2022 16:34

I'm doing really well so far. Not even hungry. 2 more shakes to go so will have one in a minute then around 8.30 I'll have my last one.

I’ve never heard of exante, is it expensive?

HerRoyalHappiness · 12/07/2022 18:44

It works out cheaper than other meal replacement plans as you mix the shales with water instead of milk. And they always have really good offers on.

Ooh sounds interesting I might have a look. Is it something you need to do every day or could you just do it 3 days a week?

HerRoyalHappiness · 12/07/2022 19:59

Loads of people mix and match it to suit their lifestyle. Some even create "pack hacks" so I don't like the meals, but people turn them into bread and stuff and apparently it's more palatable that way. I've never tried it.

Gained this week... Too much food and drink over the weekend me thinks. So need to put in much more effort this week to not completely fall off the band wagon. Decided to have slimfast shakes at lunch time and then healthy meal in the evening. Unfortunately this weekend I'll probably undo a bit of that work, got a date Friday night and out for drinks with friends Saturday, so can't trip up on the other days really. Really want to get down to 13st 3lbs and finally hit that 4 stone milestone, feels like I'm never gonna get there at this rate

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 13st 7lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

ShinyPikachu · 13/07/2022 18:57

I'm glad your first day went well @Prettybubblesintheair

Hope you get on well with the exante @HerRoyalHappiness I've been debating trying something like shakes or even getting a protein powder to add to things myself but we don't have much spare money at the moment so I'll just have to try to focus on food for now.

You've done so well so far @Echoes89 - don't be too hard on yourself when you have a bad week. It's the bigger picture that's important.

I don't know if anyone follows The Fitness Chef on FB but I just saw someone mention him and went to have a look. He has a lot of comparison pictures of things that are marketed for weight loss or health reasons and things we would assume were "naughty" with the calories mentioned. Some things are quite surprising when you see them!

Prettybubblesintheair · 13/07/2022 20:07

I’m feeling fat bloated and shattered today I think it’s the weather. I’ve also been absolutely starving all day, I thought hot weather was supposed to reduce appetite?! I did a 20 hour fast today and then ate lunch and dinner within a couple of hours of each other because Id gotten so hungry. I had 4 pumpkin seed ryvita with flora and marmite, a packet of pom bears and then a fibre now protein bar then for dinner I had Tesco fire pit maple pork loin steak but it was really thin so I had two with 300g baby potatoes roasted with spray oil and some rocket. After dinner I had some of a m&s low calorie ice cream pot and then a handful of raisins and peanuts as I was hungry still. Now I feel 9 months pregnant! This heat is just killer. Hope everyone else is ok, how’s your exante going @HerRoyalHappiness and more importantly your recovery? I’m hoping for a 3lb loss to get me down to 14 in time for my family thing on the 30th. I’m 14st 9lb so need to lose 3lb a week. I did some yoga this morning and I’ve done 12,000 steps but i definitely don’t feel like I’ve lost weight this week!

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/07/2022 20:32

I'm still numb and in pain with my back but I'm coping. I've finally got back on the diet train and have lost a pound in a day so looking forward to seeing what the rest of the week brings.

That’s brilliant well done!

i’m so annoyed I washed a dress I’ve worn once and it’s shrunk! I wore it last week and it fitted perfectly I just put it on and it’s shrunk in length and width! Really hasn’t helped my feeling rubbish.

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/07/2022 20:45

Oh no! I hate that happening. Its so disheartening even though you know its not your fault.

OP posts:
Prettybubblesintheair · 14/07/2022 09:31

It’s so annoying! Maybe it’s my body though, I’m stressing it’s because I’ve gained weight. I’ll weigh in on Saturday morning and will see then. I’ve done something a bit silly the last couple of days. I was on Mirtazipine for years, it was a huge factor in my weigh gain so I came off it a few months ago but since Sunday I have been taking half a tablet at night because I was just so desperate for some sleep and I forgot just how ravenous it made me! I’ve also been a lot more low and anxious the last few days which is probably due to messing with my brain chemistry. Last night at 10pm I was so so hungry I ended up breaking my fast to have a bowl of cereal. I felt terrible but I was just so hungry! Dh said look one bowl of cereal is not going to make you fat and it’s not as if you’re having crisps and chocolate so I caved and had a bowl. Never mind, todays a new day. I didn’t take a Mirtazipine last night and slept well, hopefully tonight will be the same and today I won’t be quite so starving! I have a cahms meeting over zoom this morning about my youngest son, not particularly looking forward to it!

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/07/2022 11:21

Good luck with the CAMHS meeting @Prettybubblesintheair

I've had fun and games. I need more catheter bags. When I was discharged from the hospital I was told to phone my GP for more. So I did. Only they said they didn't have the letter to get me more and I needed to phone A&E back.
So I do. They said no, it's district nurse you need to call.
So I call them and they say no they don't deal with catheters anymore and I've to phone A&E back.
So I phoned A&E back and they said I had to get someone to go collect some from the hospital 3.5 miles away... when I don't drive, nor does my mum who's been taking care of me.
They also can't tell me what's happening with the trial without catheter clinic and they can't tell me when I'll see neuro about the numbness.
So yeah. That's a bag of wank.

Just found you all again in "threads I'm on". I've been really struggling with motivation just lately. I've been dieting since January 2020 and lost 3 stone in 3 separate periods when I've done really well. However there has been periods in between, like now when I have really struggled. I find I can stick to slimming world or sticking to 1500 calories most days but it's not enough to make me lose weight because I binge sometimes as well (about once every 2 weeks or so).

The only thing that works is low carb or only eating 700 calories a day. But I can't stick to that very long. I can never be one of those keto dieters on instagram who can cheerfully watch their children eat ice cream and pizza while they have rice made out of cauliflower. I like veg and fruit but not keen on most meat which doesn't help with the carb cravings. I like things like lentils and beans though. Low carb bread and flour is eye wateringly expensive if I want to have anything "nice" and I get so sick of not being able to have rice, pasta and cake. I know lack of sleep is a big problem for me as my autistic 8 year old really struggles with sleep and I end up over eating in the evenings.

I got a years national trust membership for my birthday 2 months ago but I'm so unfit that even a short walk I massively struggle with, especially hills. It should be a great opportunity for a free day out but I dread every visit because I can't keep up with my children and what for other people is a gentle stroll, to me feels like a major sporting event. But I'm in a viscious circle in that I can't do much exercise because I'm carrying the equivalent of an extra person around with me and I can't increase my calorie allowance to something I can actually stick to because I only do about 2-5k steps a day.

Can anyone offer any tips on how to get out of this rut.

SW 22st
CW 19st
GW 11st

PS well done to those of you doing well.

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/07/2022 13:32

@elliejjtiny welcome back. We all struggle sometimes. What's important is that you get back on the horse

OP posts:
DuckWithOneWing · 14/07/2022 14:22

Welcome back @elliejjtiny ! The thing I did at that point was to increase my steps. There are videos on YouTube if you want, but even walking around the garden helps. If you're doing 2-5k every day then make sure it's the higher end - doing 5k steps every day will be so beneficial. That's actually my goal, because 10k is too much for me.

Prettybubblesintheair · 14/07/2022 16:09

@HerRoyalHappiness well that all sounds like a fucking nightmare! I can’t believe they’re not doing more to help you recover with the numbness that’s ridiculous.

welcome back @elliejjtiny. You’re here, you’re taking steps in the right direction. Not being able to run around at the park with the kids was a big motivation for me too and last weekend I actually went on the swings with them! I still have a long way to go but that was lovely moment. That’s great you have a national trust membership. I always hated walking with other people because there was an expectation to keep up with them plus to talk when I was having enough trouble just walking never mind chatting too. Could you try going alone a couple of times a week? Take some water and listen to a podcast or audio book and just go at your own pace and have a sit down inbetween.

Echoes89 · 15/07/2022 10:28

Yay back down to 13st 4.25lbs this morning, so 1.25lbs to lose and I will finally hit the 4 stone loss mark. Fully expecting to derail my weight loss this weekend though, so will probably redo the weight gain over the weekend, ah well. 11 months down into my journey, never thought I'd lose more than a stone or 2 in reality, so I'm not gonna be too hard on myself. Im hoping in 12 months I can be near my weight goal

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 13st 4.25lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 11:03

Huge well done @Echoes89 that's fantastic progress 👏

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/07/2022 13:24

Well I have my appointment for the trial without catheter clinic. 28th July, so 13 days away.
I'm trying to get it sooner though as my cat has an operation that day.
But I'll go if needs must. I just want to know if my bladder is still retaining water or not. If it is I have to have the catheter in. If not I can use pads for the incontinence

OP posts:
Prettybubblesintheair · 15/07/2022 13:37

Fantastic progress @Echoes89 well done!

13th of august seems a looong way off @HerRoyalHappiness, too far really

I’n at work today, I’m only working Monday Tuesday Friday and when I left on Tuesday I felt I was making good progress but I’ve gone back today and feel like I’ve forgotten everything! I have a maths question…I have to calculate my hours worked at the end of the day and my brain just cannot work it out so:
I start at 8:45am
lunch 1-2pm unpaid
work 2-6pm how many hours is that?!

@MNHQ can you tell me why my pist was deleted? I've read the guidelines and nowhere can I see that were not allowed to post gofundme links? I'm sorry if I made a mistake. I just really need help to share it.

@HerRoyalHappiness links to surveys, petitions, or fundraising that are not registered charities are generally not allowed. Pretty sure it says it in the guidelines, there is link to them at the bottom of the page, and it is not just your post.
