Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

I lost 3lb which is what I was hoping for but surprised as I didn’t have the best week. Takes me down to 14st 9lb which is the weight I got to the last time I was dieting back in 2019 so happy with that. I really really want to get down to 14st by the 30th but I doubt it’ll happen. Especially as the kids wanted American pancakes with bacon this morning and I joined them 🤫. I had a really bad night, dd2 (13) was in bed with me then ds2 (11) joined us then ds1(13) came and slept on the floor! Ds2 and dd were awake at 3 but did drop back off again until 8 but I really struggled to fall back to sleep. Dh ended up on the sofa! So pancakes were needed for energy. Sorry to hear everyone else is struggling to sleep too, it really is the worst.

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/07/2022 16:44

That's a fantastic loss @Prettybubblesintheair
Sorry to hear you didn't have the best sleep but how lovely your DC still want their mum in the night. My DS1is 13 too and often sleeps across the bottom of my bed.

Hi everyone. This weather is the pits of or me, anyway), I cannot deal with heat at all. I manage to sleep if I have the fan on, at least until the pain in my leg wakes me - that always hurts more in the heat, so what with that in the warm weather and my arthritis flaring up in the winter or damp weather, I seem to spend a lot of time dealing with pain in my legs. Oh well. Weighed in today and I am back to where I was before my weekend away a couple of weeks ago, so, total loss so far is 3st 13 1/2lbs. Fingers crossed I can get that extra 1/2lb off this week. I've been to a baby shower today, unusually the baby was in attendance! It was for a lovely work colleague and we had to postpone the shower we planned for this tine last year as covid was around again. We had an 'afternoon tea' and it was lively. I ate a little bit of everything, but not too much, so it won't have done any real damage to my eating plan. I admit i was very chuffed when she, and a couple of other former colleagues i hadn't seen for a while, all commented positively on my new look. It makes it feel worthwhile and gives me encouragement to continue.
@HerRoyalHappiness I hope you are feeling better after your fall. X

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/07/2022 18:32

Fingers crossed for you @blueplan

I'm feeling OK but in excruciating pain every day. Got a rheumy appointment next week though so hopefully they can do something about it.

Well diet is out of the window right now.

currently in hospital with a rather embarrassing problem.

I woke this morning and felt a really sharp pain in my right thigh. Then it went numb. Then earlier I went to the toilet and realised I'd wet myself. I didn't even feel it. So 111 sent me to A and E. So now I'm waiting on the A and E doctor but it's still a 4 and a half hour wait to be seen

@HerRoyalHappiness oh my god so sorry to hear that I hope you’re ok, thinking of you.

@Blueplan I absolutely despise the heat. It’s been just about bearable here today but I’m dreading the coming week, I start my new job on Monday in a dentists and it’s going to be 32 degrees here! No idea if there’s aircon or fans etc but I don’t know how i’ll cope if there isn’t!

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/07/2022 14:28

Theyve still no idea whats wrong.

They're just arguing over which neurosurgeon is best for me to be referred to.

My mums fine with the kids, she's going to get them all sorted. She's even cleaning out the pet mouse, Julius Cheezer for me and she hates mice.

Hit a rut with the weight loss and not sure how to get out of it. When I met DH I weighed in at around 15 stone so five stone overweight. Over the years we got into bad eating habits as a couple and by the time I had to stop work due to covid I weighed 18st 9lb. In the end I got made redundant 8 months later. I have applied for other jobs but no luck so far though my previous employer has taken me back now on a zero hours contract. My weight went up again to 21st 8lbs. I have made some changes and now weigh 19st 13lbs so a long way to go but a step in the right direction. I have hit a rut though with my weight remaining stable for the last month rather than continuing to go down. I suspect that worries for DH health have not helped. DH got diagnosed with Cauda Equina and so had to get disks removed from and shaved in his back.

How do others get out of a rut?

Hit a rut as in a plateau or as in you’ve lost motivation? If it’s the former I had a 3 week plateau and in the end I had a cheat day and then did a 20 hour fast which seemed to shock my body out of it. I also added an evening walk but appreciate its not always possible and I definitely won’t be doing it if we get the temperature predicted at the weekend! Plus they say weight loss is 90% diet 10% exercise so I’m sure the exercise helped but wasn’t solely responsible for getting me out of the plateau. If it’s that you’ve lost motivation are you breaking your weight loss into smaller achievable goals? I started at 18st and I’m currently 14st 9lb, aiming for 9st 7lb but I’m short! Will be happy with 10 stone but we’ll see. I found rather than looking at it as I have 8 st to lose it helped to work to each half stone etc. so last month i wanted to get below 15, this month i’d like to get to 14 etc. it makes it much more achievable for me.

@HerRoyalHappiness so sorry you’re still being kept in the dark. I hope they get to the bottom of it soon. Great that your mums able to help out and love the mouses name!

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/07/2022 16:46

I'm coming home.

I slipped a disc in my back which is pressing on some nerves causing the numbness.

I have to have a catheter still and my mums going to stay and help me clean etc while I have it, but I'm going home!

Ah that’s great so pleased for you, so glad they’ve told you what’s going on and you’re getting home to the kids. Have they given you any idea of recovery time?

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/07/2022 16:53

Not yet. Will.follow up with neurology in a few days and find out then what's what.

So glad you're getting home. That sounds so scary so I'm glad you have some answers now and you won't be stuck in a hospital in this heat too. Flowers

Prettybubblesintheair · 11/07/2022 08:41

On my way in for my first day and it’s BOILING!

ShinyPikachu · 11/07/2022 10:58

Hope you have a good first day @Prettybubblesintheair I hope they have decent fans or even AC there though!

Weigh in day for me. 1.5lb off for a total of 5.5lb off. I really wasn't expecting a loss this week so that was a nice surprise.

I actually had someone come on to me at the weekend which was immensely flattering. I later found out he's married though so good thing I turned him down since I'm happily married myself. It's been a good few years since I've had something like that happen though so I'll still take it as a positive thing. GrinBlush

Prettybubblesintheair · 11/07/2022 14:16

Woohoo they have AC!

ShinyPikachu · 11/07/2022 14:33

You'll be glad of that @Prettybubblesintheair

I've got a fan on but it's just really blowing warm air at me so isn't helping that much.

HerRoyalHappiness · 11/07/2022 17:49

That's great @Prettybubblesintheair

My mums forcing me to diet properly from tomorrow so of course I had to have takeaway for tea today 😆

I'm back on track with cooking at least. We're having the Slimming Eats cheeseburger pasta tonight and having roast chicken with mashed potato tomorrow.

It's amazing the difference that proper food makes to my pain levels although it's really annoying too as I obviously don't want to cook when pain is bad. I think I'm going to batch cook some stuff like the cheeseburger pasta so I've got good homemade food for my bad days.

HerRoyalHappiness · 11/07/2022 21:51

Right. I need to get this weight off and I need to do it soon. I'm ridiculously obese. So me and my mum are starting exante tomorrow and will stick to that to lose weight

Prettybubblesintheair · 11/07/2022 22:16

Evening all I hope everyone’s ok and not melting too badly! I had a good first day, there’s a lot to learn but I’m hoping I’ll pick it up as I go. One of the other receptionists teaching me speaks really quickly and quietly so it’s hard work to follow her. It seems like one of those things you learn in practice. I had a bit of an off day food wise, I forgot my lunch so ended up with a Costa wrap but it wasn’t very nice and was 412 calories! Dh made a sort of stir fry for dinner but he used full fat coconut milk and sesame oil so was pretty high in calorie. I don’t think I went over my limit but just didn’t feel like a particularly healthy day. I’ve made my lunch for tomorrow and left myself a note on the kettle so hopefully I’ll remember it and tomorrow will be a better day!

ShinyPikachu · 11/07/2022 22:41

We can do this! Smile

ShinyPikachu · 11/07/2022 22:57

I just went to grab some fruit for a snack instead of some crisps and look how tiny these easy peeler tangerines are. WTF?

Added a 2p for scale and a banana to make a smiley face. Grin

Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?
HerRoyalHappiness · 12/07/2022 06:38

Oh dear @ShinyPikachu they're proper tiny!
Well exante starts today. Hopefully it will shift this weight. I'm now 20st 8lb. I'll be happy to even lose 7 of it although ideally 10st.

Glad your first day went well @Prettybubblesintheair and hope today is as good.

I've never tried Exante @HerRoyalHappiness but I have heard good things from people who have.

I am not doing well in the heat. My bad hand and arm have swollen so much I can't use it (I usually can't use it much but it's currently worse). The good thing is I seem to have lost my appetite so it's been easy sticking to my calories the last couple of days!
