Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Happy weekend all, sounds like people are doing pretty well this week. I've booked a holiday for about 12 weeks time, really hoping to lose around a stone by then, it's only just over 1lb a week, so hoping I can stick to being good, would like to feel a bit nicer in my clothes and maybe buy some new smaller clothes by then. It's taken me about 4months to lose the last stone, it's definitely getting harder to lose the weight so I need to make sure I really stick to it

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 13st 4lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

Hi, I hope it’s ok to join you. I’ve got loads to lose, more than ten stone. I haven’t set a target yet, but I’d really like to lose 4 stone by Christmas - I’m not sure if it’s possible, but even if I just get part of the way there, it’s all progress.

Ive lost 9 stone before but put it all on again plus more. I did it by going to a slimming world group, but not following the plan, just counting calories. This time I’m just counting calories. Not sure SW scales will go up to my weight, and I hate the group bit.

My weigh day is Monday (I started on 20/6), but it’s my birthday tomorrow…

All help gratefully received, even tough love. I’ve got to do this before I kill myself. Not being dramatic, but I really am big.

Echoes89 · 02/07/2022 15:21

Hi @OhFatty
We're all a different stages of weight loss here, so feel free to jump on the thread. I've found it really good for keeping myself accountable without having to go to something like slimming world or weight watchers and weigh myself Infront of the world... Would absolutely hate that.
I'm terrible with diets and cutting out any food I like, so am calorie counting with intermittent fasting thrown in. Definitely gotta find something that works for you and don't be afraid to mess up every now and again, just get back on it when you've had a rough day. It's a long term thing so you're always gonna trip up a little on the way

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/07/2022 15:57

Welcome @OhFatty I hope you find this a lovely supportive group. I certainly do.

I had pizza last.night. had DDs friend round for tea so we ate pizza and I didn't care about the consequences
But I'm sure I've worked it off as I've worked up a sweat tidying my bedroom today. It was a right mess.

My dh decided he was having a weekend off keto this weekend so I’ve been pretty lax! I had protein porridge at 1pm to break my fast then I had a chicken nuggets, fries and 2 mozzarella dippers at McDonald’s and a kinder bueno! That was about 5pm and I was planning on fasting until 11 tomorrow but I was sooo hungry watching stranger things I broke and had a few snack bits. Still came in at my calories but obviously broke my fast. I’ve had a bit of a crappy evening, dh decided to take me out for dinner tomorrow night which is a once every 6 months occurrence for us due to kids, finances etc so I really want to look nice and dh was going through my wardrobe getting me to try stuff on and I have 4 dresses that ive had for a month to slim into and they’re all still just a little bit too tight on my stomach ☹️. I’m really struggling to lose weight from my stomach, I’ve had 4 kids including a c-section and my tummy muscles also separated during pregnancy and haven’t knitted back together so my middle is just hideous. I’m also a recovering alcoholic, two years and four months sober but the years of drinking really added to my stomach. So I’m just feeling a bit disheartened, I’ve lost 3 stone and I feel like I should be seeing a huge difference and i’m just not! It’s not even as though other people are noticing either. So feeling pretty sorry for myself tonight!

S.W 18st

C.W 14st 12lb

G.W 9st 7lb

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/07/2022 03:00

@Prettybubblesintheair I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in whatever outfit you choose. Huge congratulations on getting sober. That must have been very hard for you. Can I ask, have you swapped one addiction for another? I only ask as I swapped smoking for eating. I smoked and was slim and now I eat and I'm fat. I never used to eat this much as I needed the money for cigs and I'd smoke instead of eat if I was feeling bored or stressed.

My stomach muscles also haven't knitted back together after having my youngest (thanks EDS) he was 10lb 10.5oz so he did some damage the little sod. Good job I like him. So I sympathise. I try and find high waisted things or on dresses I like the ones that are tighter under the bust and then flowy over the stomach. It hides it a bit better.

Need to lose 10 stone to go on the Kidney transplant list

Seems impossible

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/07/2022 03:15

@NeedToLeaveNow nothing is impossible. I've gained again and I'm back up over 20st.
So I still have 10st to lose. I am serious about it. I'm aiming for my 3000 steps a day and less than 1500 calories. Doesn't seen much but I'm disabled and need to shift this weight.
Slowly but surely it will come off
I'm starting again tomorrow. Why don't you join me? We can hold each others hands through the ups and downs.
And remember weight loss isn't a straight line. There are bumps and curves and loop the loops. But it will happen
Have faith.

Going to take the kids to the park tomorrow if its nice. If not I'll step to music at home and play board games with the kids.

Thank you @HerRoyalHappiness
Hope you have a good day tomorrow

I need to move more but also have alot of health issues and excising makes me leak protein (kidney failure) so i then swell up and feel ill

Fun times

Im going to get the Wii back out and try and do a dancing game on there
Hopefully will seem more fun and i will be able to get through it :)

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/07/2022 09:48

@NeedToLeaveNow don't push yourself too hard. Slow and steady wins the race.

I've put all the weight I lost back on and more when I weighed myself with new batteries in the scale this morning. And I took progress pictures for the first time ever. Hoping they'll motivate me. So <deep breath> here goes. This is me. I'm huge. Please ignore the mess in my bedroom.. it's very hard for me to find space for everything so there's stuff everywhere

Hi everyone.
So, this week I am the same as last week. Happy with that - it's been a week of celebrations here, ds was 30 (my baby is 30 - how did that happen?) So we had a couple of get togethers which included food of course. It was also dgs birthday so again, food and yet more cake! I also had Chinese for the first tine in 3 years! - dh cant have it due to diabetes and he is away this weekend at the Grand Prix, so I treated myself. It was wonderful - not sure when I will be able to have it again, so I really enjoyed it. Anyway, back to normal from tomorrow. I'd lke to lose another 7lbs by 1st August, as that will be a year since we started this new way of eating. I still have just over 3 months until the wedding, so am hoping to lose another stone between now and then. I won't be at 'goal' for at least another year, but that's fine, I always planned for slow, steady and sustainable weight loss this time round.
We can do this!

Prettybubblesintheair · 03/07/2022 11:35

@HerRoyalHappiness Thank you. I think I’m going to wear one that fits like you suggested, it’s sort of fitted at the bust and flowy over my stomach. Only thing is it’s white so hope I don’t eat anything too messy because I’m a mucky cow! Thank you, I definitely swapped one addiction for another. When I was drinking I was hardly eating but when I stopped my body absolutely craved sugar and the advice from AA was not to deny yourself any foods as it’s hard enough stopping drinking, that took all my willpower for a while. It was only when I was two years sober I felt able to tackle my weight so that’s what I’m doing now. I definitely have an addictive/obsessive personality so I really have to watch myself. I’m selling a lot on vinted but also buying too which is something I need to rein in! However I am very proud of my sobriety, if you’d told me back in April 2020 I’d be sober I’d have laughed! It seemed impossible so @NeedToLeaveNow trust me when I say anything is possible. You can do this, slowly but surely you will get there.

@HerRoyalHappiness you are so so brave posting that I don’t think I could have at my start weight but I love your yellow top! I’ll try and take a photo today before we go out. It’s lovely and sunny here, I’m going to do some yoga in the garden!

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/07/2022 11:53

@Prettybubblesintheair yoga in the garden sounds great. My garden is open for all to see so I'd be far too embarrassed. Although I do walk up and down as much as I can when the kids are in the garden, just pacing round to get my steps in.

OP posts:
Prettybubblesintheair · 03/07/2022 12:55

@HerRoyalHappiness I did 40 minutes then my neighbour started coughing in the garden 😯so hoping that doesn’t mean he was there the whole time! We have quite high fences so hopefully the only way he’d have been able to see was if he was looking directly over and it’s really not a pretty sight so I doubt he’d look more than once 😂. I have an Apple Watch and I used to burn over 100 calories in 20 minutes of yoga, now I’m lucky if I do 70 in forty minutes but I guess that means my fitness levels are getting better. But I’m a bit obsessive with closing the rings on my watch so while I know it’s a good thing it also annoys me a little!

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/07/2022 13:45

I have a Samsung smart watch which is connected to my phone. I love hitting my goals. It's like a tamagotchi but the thing you're keeping alive is you!

😂 I love that! Just waiting for myself to evolve now 😂

Prettybubblesintheair · 03/07/2022 15:19

Off out for lunch. Feeling really shit about what I’m wearing but the white dress turned out to be completely see through no matter what colour underwear!

DuckWithOneWing · 03/07/2022 15:20

I had a great day out yesterday, but OMG I ache today. I went to the Allergy and Free From Sho. There were loads of samples of cakes and snacks but I didn't have many (I tried some plant milk and a snack bar). I made the mistake of buying heavy stuff towards the start of the day which meant I had to carry it around with me. Don't do this!

Welcome new people! Looking forward to getting to know you.

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/07/2022 15:30

@Prettybubblesintheair you look fab. I love that dress.
@DuckWithOneWing oh dear! Yeah not a good idea to buy heavy things at the start of the day!

What's for tea/dinner tonight? I'm making jacket spud with cheese beans and the classic MN massive salad 😂

NeedToLeaveNow · 03/07/2022 17:23

Thank you @HerRoyalHappiness

DuckWithOneWing · 03/07/2022 19:59

For dinner I had the sausage and bean casserole suggested by Prettybubblesintheair. My portion came to 320 calories when put into MFP and it was delicious!

@NeedToLeaveNow You can do it! You just need to take each day at a time, and not let one bad day spoil your week. Slowly everything will start to add up. I've been plodding along since the start of the year and have lost 4 stone (5 1/4 since my heaviest) and if you'd asked me when I'd started I would have said it's impossible too.

Prettybubblesintheair · 03/07/2022 23:35

@DuckWithOneWing Ah I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I might try and make it this week but with dh on keto its only me who will eat it as the kids won’t!

Dh ended up convincing me to change as I’m just not confident enough to wear something so short so I ended up wearing a midi dress with a slit up the side. Still wasn’t 100% confident but we had an amazing meal out at giggling squid and a lovely wonder around Windsor for a couple of hours. Ended up doing 8000 steps so I definitely felt I earned my lovely dinner! Especially as I was breathing in the whole time so a proper ab workout 😂. It’s so weird, when I was 3 stone heavier I had loads of clothes that I knew were flattering and it sounds weird but I kind of accepted I was big and didn’t feel too ashamed of that but now i’m losing weight I feel like I’m pretending to be something i’m not? I don’t think that makes sense but I feel like an imposter, like how dare I try to wear fashionable, fitted clothes at my size. When I was bigger I didn’t feel like that. I thought my confidence would grow and it has in some ways like I’ll go on the swings and slide at the park with my kids but it’s like I feel like I’m pretending to be something I’m not when I try to wear more fitted clothing. So weird and I’m sure a therapist would have a field day! I feel like mutton dressed as lamb but I want to be lamb 😂

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend xx

NeedToLeaveNow · 04/07/2022 00:09

@DuckWithOneWing Thank you and well done on losing all that weight :)

HerRoyalHappiness · 04/07/2022 06:05

Good morning. Fresh week fresh start!
I started my week by falling down the stairs. Luckily I have fall alarms so they phoned my mum for me as a very string DS1 picked me up from a heap on the floor

Well done to everyone with a loss!

Glad your cat is doing better @HerRoyalHappiness and well done on the progress pics. One day I might be as brave as you. Hope you're not too sore from your fall. Sad

Welcome @Prettybubblesintheair - great username, are you a fellow Hammer? Grin
I use Nutracheck too and definitely my favourite app for tracking everything. I love your dress!

I love NSVs like that that you don't even really think about until it's happened @DuckWithOneWing

Welcome @OhFatty - we're birthday buddies. Hope you had a great day!

Good luck @NeedToLeaveNow - I know it's hard when you have health conditions that seem to be against you with weight loss but I agree with @HerRoyalHappiness - slow and steady is a good way forward.

I survived my crazy birthday week and then my weekend away. I don't think I cooked a single dinner so I'm very happy with only a half pound gain. There's been Subway, Greggs, KFC, Colin the caterpillar (as the birthday girl I got to eat his yummy face) and then my mum's cooking so I didn't track a thing.

Still 4lb down overall and back to tracking today even though there's one last takeaway planned for tonight.
