Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

You'll be glad to get home. I hope the meds help and fingers crossed you'll then get a diagnosis. Will it be other meds to try and control them after that then? I get visual migraines fairly regularly but the painful kind I've had a couple of times and she really has my sympathies as they're not nice to have at all. Sad Hopefully there will be something to help.

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/04/2022 20:53

Yeah, once it's confirmed it's migraine they'll give her meds to control them.
She's in bed now with a new care bear off my best friend to cuddle up with.

Hope your dd is much better @HerRoyalHappiness

Weighed yesterday and have list 3/4lb. Tantalisingly close to the 3 st 7lbs milestone, but still a few ounces to go!
Hope everyone else is managing to keep on keeping on!
Foes anyone have any plans for the Easter break (we broke up on Friday and go back the day after Easter Monday), I am looking forward to keeping the alarm off for the next couple of weeks!

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/04/2022 09:07

My plan is to start again tomorrow. I've been far too stressed out to even think about my diet.
DD seems much better now. The migraine has passed and she can feel her left side again (hemiplegic migraines is what they think) just giving her her omeprazole for her GORD that she was diagnosed with.

Our Easter holiday plans are to stay away from both DC and hope they don't catch covid from us. That's both DH and me with it now. Obviously healthy eating is pretty much out the window for me and it's just a matter of how I feel at the time.

Hoping to have a roast chicken dinner tonight with DD's help though. I bought a roast in the bag one so I don't have to touch it to season it, and got frozen roast potatoes and frozen veg to have with it so she should be able to manage to do most of it herself.

ShinyPikachu · 03/04/2022 14:52

And glad your DD seems better right now @HerRoyalHappiness I'm hoping the migraines stay away for now for her too.

Echoes89 · 03/04/2022 17:04

Not much happening here, keeping putting on and losing about 1.5lbs. gonna have to put in a bit more work and be a little stricter but I've been pretty busy recently so be pretty slack with it all. As long as I'm not consistently putting weight on again I'm not too annoyed
On the plus side, people seem to be noticing the weight loss at the moment which is nice... Only taken losing over 3 stone to make any noticeable difference apparently haha

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/04/2022 22:40

@Echoes89 people noticing is great!

@ShinyPikachu hopefully the kids can avoid the covid. You just concentrate on getting better for now

Thanks @HerRoyalHappiness

So far no loss of taste or smell and I'm just so hungry all the time. I had the biggest dinner ever, even had meringue, yogurt and fruit afterwards and I'm still so hungry. I've had a bowl of bran flakes and some crisps and even picked at the leftover chicken until there was nothing left. I've never seen anyone else with Covid talking about being hungry, it's all been those losing taste and smell and saying they lost their appetite as a result. Trust me to be the opposite! DH is the same as well.

I'm also mixing up words easily when talking and typing and not quite understanding what people are saying. It's like I'm in a fibro flare with the worst fibro fog with it. I'm just hoping I don't get long covid since this is a mild case. So many people in my fibro groups seem to have ended up with it. Sad

Blueplan · 09/04/2022 15:12

OK. Weighed this morning and have list 2lbs. Total loss to date is now 3st 8 1/2lbs. It has been a strange week and eating has been somewhat erratic. Dc1 messaged last weekend to say he had tested positive for Covid, and since he had spent the previous day here, it was only a matter of time before DH and I got it. Sure enough, DH began to feel rough on Monday and was quite poorly for a couple of days. I also tested positive, but my symptoms have been very mild - very, very runny nose and a hoarse voice, but nothing else really. I expect our eating to be a bit less 'carefull' until we are both back to normal. Like @ShinyPikachu, we haven't experienced the loss of taste or smell - might have helped with the weight loss. Anyway, just pleased that as two CV people, we seem to have come out of it quite lightly.
Hope everyone else has had a good week.

ShinyPikachu · 09/04/2022 18:19

Hope you continue to be not too ill @Blueplan

Thankfully I'm over the worst of it now. No cough or fever ever did show and still have taste and smell, as you say that really could have helped with the weight loss but I know so many people having issues with it months and months later I'm glad I haven't had that. DH is back at work now so I've had peace and quiet to recover the last couple of days. I'm thinking I'll make the most of it and go for a takeaway and bottle of wine tonight as a treat as I definitely need to get back on track from Monday. I haven't been near the scales so weigh in then will be interesting.

Echoes89 · 10/04/2022 09:04

Hi all
Hope all of those with covid, continue to stay well 😊
I'm now down 3st 6lbs in total, haven't been eating the healthiest really, need to get back on that really . I also suspect a lb or two may have been lost as I went out and had a few drinks last night and feeling a bit dehydrated this morning 😂

SW 17st 3lbs
CW 13st 11lbs
GW 10st 3lbs

ShinyPikachu · 11/04/2022 14:21

Well I stood on the scales this morning and wished I hadn't. I've apparently gained 5lb while having Covid. FFS.

I'm still feeling utterly rotten too so even though I can go out again, I don't feel up to it at all so I think I'm going to rest up again this week and maybe just start going for short walks, even if I just walk around the back garden with the dog or something (at least if I have the dog the neighbours won't think I've completely lost my marbles I suppose LOL.)

Well done @Echoes89 !

How are you feeling @Blueplan?

And @HerRoyalHappiness - how is your DD doing?

HerRoyalHappiness · 11/04/2022 16:36

DD is much better thanks.
I'm not though. I keep saying I'll start again nd then I never do. I've completely lost my mojo

Blueplan · 13/04/2022 15:22

@ShinyPikachu

Hi, I am feeling pretty much back to normal. My symptoms were just like the snottiest cold I could ever imagine. DH is also almost back to normal now. Dc1 is doing well and both dc2 and dgs are also on the mend. This strain is so infectious that we all caught it after just one afternoon with dc1! Luckily, none of us have had severe symptoms and we are looking forward to being together over Easter weekend.
@HerRoyalHappiness I really hope you find that mojo again - it's because you started this thread that the rest of us have a safe, supportive space to talk about our weight loss journey. We are all hoping that mojo is merely misplaced, not lost. Flowers

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/04/2022 19:31

Oh I'm sure it's just misplaced. I'm hoping now my kids are finally on easter break and i can get a bit more sleep ill fair better

Hello everyone,

I really need some motivation! Since I posted on here before I have given up drinking full sugar coke but really nothing else!! I've dropped a few lbs but definitely not making much of an effort. What is wrong with me!?! I feel like it's such an impossible task that I might as well not try cause I know I'll give up. I also feel like I just cannot stop eating rubbish!!

Why can't I get started?? I've recently bought myself a RingFit for the switch and Judt Dance so I intend to do that but in between work and 2 small children I feel any time for me is non existent. I am booked for a hair cut tomorrow (after about 2 years so it's a nest!!) But I think well it's pointless having nice hair cause ill still be gross and super overweight.. sorry it's turned into a bit of a self pitying whinge I just feel trapped in this cycle of I really want to lose lots of weight but not doing anything about it!! I have the best reason for doing this with my 2 little ones and wanting to be a good example to them and healthier for them... so why aren't I doing it?!

Sorry again and thank you if you made it through my ramble! Hope everyone is ok and staying strong! Jess x

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/04/2022 13:37

I have suddenly found my motivation again! Huzzah!
@Jeshka07 it's hard, it really is. It seems a never ending struggle.

5000 steps is amazing well done.

HerRoyalHappiness · 16/04/2022 08:45

Good morning. I weighed yesterday and had put all the weight back on. But this morning I'm 3lb down. I know it's water weight but it's still nice to see that on the scales

Hi,HerRoyalHappiness, I hope you don't mind if I just wish you good evening and Happy Easter to you and your family. I just skipped through your thread because I am of similar weight and feeling very down about myself at the moment. You are so brave dealing with your own health problems and family and continuing to try with the weight loss. I have nothing in my life to deal with that is not self inflicted and yet managed to stay up all night then sleep this beautiful day and am feeling totallly inert so I looked to MN for distraction. I saw another thread about someone needing to get their life/weight sorted, turned out they were at the point I would consider a great achievement so felt even more down. Yes I know we should not compare especially to strangers and we can only live our own lives but it is dispiriting to feel so alone and useless. Just wanted to express I am so impressed with you continuing against so many odds and keep on going.

tomorrowalready · 16/04/2022 18:32

Hi Jeshka, Congatulations on giving up the coke drinking . That stuff is addictive but once you've lost the taste for it you will feel better and think of the money saved! I too am looking for motivation to get going and stop thinking about how useless I am when I know what to do and have no responsibilities to stop me as so many do. MumsNet is great but when you are so far from the 'norm' it can make you feel even more of an outsider. I also have the hair problem, haven't had it cut for more than 2 years and chopped some off myself so it is uneven now but feel too self conscious to even go to a training place to get a cheap cut. One consolation is that it shows my hair is in good condition despite my age. Anyway best wishes with your hair cut and the change in habits.

HerRoyalHappiness · 17/04/2022 09:43

@tomorrowalready welcome to the thread. I agree it can be disheartening to see people reach their goal so much quicker than you. But everyone loses weight at their own pace.
We've got this. Even if you only change one tiny thing like not snacking after 8pm say, then you've made a start and are setting yourself up for success.

Kind of feeling sad I don't have any easter eggs today but I managed to get my kids some and that's what matters.
I printed out some eggs for the little ones to decorate, so they did that before going tontheir dad's. Then last night me and DS1 have hidden them around the house with blutack with the promise of an ice cream from the freezer if they find them all. Now just waiting for them to come home to start the hunt.

@SpookyScarySkeletons

I don't but just wanted to give you a cheer and some support!

I have recently lost just over 12 stone so I know how much of a mountain it feels.

I know we have spoken on the chronic pain thread but just wanted to share what exercises could work for you (I also need a frame and wheelchair).

It totally depends on your level of mobility but leg raises whilst seated with a resistance band around your knees. Lift leg and move out to the side. You can do this with arms as well. I've found the resistance bands are really helping with my strength and there are loads of examples online of how to use them.

I've also got a little cycle machine thing that sits under my desk. It helps meet my feet moving.

You are doing amazing to already manage 5000 steps a day with the frame!!

Good luck!!

"I've also got a little cycle machine thing that sits under my desk. It helps meet my feet moving. " That is SUCH a good idea, and I didn't know such a thing existed, but I put "under desk bike" into Amazon and found loads! I wonder if they'd work for sitting on the sofa, I suppose they would :) Would anyone that's got one be able to share which one they've got. There's a bit of a range in price on Amazon; the cheapest seem to be around £30?
