Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

I've been struggling. My MH has gone down the drain and with it so has my weight loss!

Back on it now.

Week 2- 8oz loss ( total 6lb 12oz)

Really disappointed, have stuck to plan and dress felt looser Sad

Going to stick to it and hope it was just as had such a good loss last week?

@Blueplan it’s overwhelming thinking about how much I have to lose in total, really hope I can do this!

DuckWithOneWing · 06/03/2022 12:53

@GreatBigBeautifulTommorow you're doing great! The weight you lose in week 1 isn't all fat. It's sometimes referred to as "water weight" although that isn't fully accurate. But your body reacts to a temporary reduction in calories which leads to a larger reduction in weight. In week 2, your body realises it isn't temporary and moves to losing fat.

But losing anything this week means you stuck to it and did well!

You'll probably have a slow down in week 4 or 5 too.

ShinyPikachu · 06/03/2022 13:09

Well done on the losses!!!

Thanks @HerRoyalHappiness - my mental health has been awful recently too. I keep buying food for healthy eating and then just relying on takeaways or I don't eat at all. I'm falling back into awful habits and I need to snap out of it. It's wasting so much money too. Sad

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 06/03/2022 15:19

Thanks @DuckWithOneWing Flowers

Blueplan · 06/03/2022 20:01

@GreatBigBeautifulTommorow

I do understand how daunting it feels - I need to lose around 12.5st to even get to the very top of 'healthy weight' for my height. I still have 9 1/2 st to go. That is why I set a new target every time I lose 7lbs - it makes it feel manageable and achievable. I have come to realise that this has to be the way my life is for the forseeable future and I don't stress if I only lose a small amount in any week - a loss is still a loss. I have chosen a way of eating that I can maintain long-term, the rest of my life if need be. I have also noticed that some weeks, when my loss is less, those are the weeks I notice my clothes fit looser. It's almost as though on those weeks my weight redistributes itself. I know it sounds daft, but it really is something I've found seems to be the case for me.
@HerRoyalHappiness
Sorry you have been struggling, but glad to see you are getting back on the wagon. This wagon would be a lonely place without you keeping us all in check. Flowers

HerRoyalHappiness · 07/03/2022 07:11

Right. Time to get my head back in the game.
Being this size is unhealthy for me, it makes my disabilities worse and it opens the kids up to bullying because of me ("urgh, your mums fat" kind of thing)
I dont like the sound of any of that so I'm going to be stricter with myself. No takeaways from now on, including starbucks and Costa BlushGrin
I can make food and coffee at home.

You've got this @HerRoyalHappiness! How's today going?

HerRoyalHappiness · 07/03/2022 21:37

Today has gone really well. I'm going to take myself to bed in a minute to avoid a binge

ShinyPikachu · 09/03/2022 11:46

Hope you've been managing well the last couple of days @HerRoyalHappiness

I forgot to weigh in on Monday as I was so busy. I'm 1lb down from last week which is 0.2lb down from my new starting weight. I really wanted a takeaway again last night but I was good and had one of the microwave meals (chicken curry) instead.

Echoes89 · 10/03/2022 16:08

Back on weight loss now. Finally down under the next stone (just by .25 lbs but I'm taking that as a win)
SW 17st 3lbs
CW 13st 13.75lbs
GW 10st 6lbs

Weight loss so far 3st 3.25lbs, another 3 stone 7.75lbs to go, at least I'm nearly half way there

HerRoyalHappiness · 11/03/2022 14:04

Had therapy today. Was emotional but im OK.

He gave me some really positive reasons to lose weight.

  1. I'll be able to do more with the kids
  2. I'll get my mobility back
3 I won't be as anxious about my health 4 it will improve my self esteem
  1. I won't be in as much pain as I won't be carrying around so much extra weight. We worked out I'm carrying around over 60kg of excess weight... which is 3 of the big bags of cat litter I buy... and I cant even lift one of them because of my wrists so imagine how much better I'll feel when I shift the weight

I like your new positivity @HerRoyalHappiness.

Weighed in today - 2lb loss, so total loss of 3st 3lbs. Very happy with that. I'm so used to my regime that I am coping well, though I do occasionally feel hungry in the night. At least then I can turn over and go back to sleep - it would be more difficult to ignore hunger during the day.

ShinyPikachu · 12/03/2022 18:14

Those are all great reasons @HerRoyalHappiness. Some of them I've actually been telling myself at times recently too.

Well done on your losses @Echoes89 and @Blueplan

I bought new jeans this week as I have some nights out coming up and I have some nice tops to wear but nothing to wear them with. I'd previously been in size 20-22 ones before I gained more weight. A few months ago I bought size 24 ones but they were too tight so I bit the bullet and ordered size 26 ones. They're utterly massive on me. Hmm I think even the 24 in those ones would have been loose. I even went by my measurements this time so I wouldn't buy yet another pair of unusable jeans. Confused This is why I love leggings much more right now. Grin

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 13/03/2022 07:34

Everyone sounds like they are doing so well Flowers

Really deflated….1/2lb loss again this week Sad
I’ve stuck to plan, not sure where I’m going wrong.
I’m trying to have a healthy relationship with food and stop the binge starve cycle but this just makes me want to cut back to one meal a day again ( and then I’ll fall of the wagon because I’m starving)
Sad

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/03/2022 07:59

1.9lb loss this week. Grin

@GreatBigBeautifulTommorow half a pound is great!

Well done @HerRoyalHappiness Flowers

I need to lose more than 1/2lb a week with having so much to lose Sad

ShinyPikachu · 14/03/2022 09:02

A gain for me this week but surprise surprise I'm ill AGAIN and not been able to leave the house for any exercise and food again is just what I can manage.

I'm fed up of my crappy immune system. I do take vitamins etc to help but I go near people and catch whatever is going around. How I've never caught covid yet I don't know though but I'm getting everything else. Lockdown is the longest time I've ever gone without being ill. It was bliss. Blush

Nelliephant1 · 14/03/2022 11:30

Hi folks

Can I join?

I've got 8st to lose, would love to lose 9, but I figure if I can get 8 off I'll be doing more than ok.

Im sure not everyone will think it's a good idea but I'm doing SlimFast for at least the first week. I bought the starter pack so it is very prescriptive which is what I think I need.

Im usually good at losing a bit of a chunk to begin with but once I hit a plateau, I go back to rubbish eating to try to kick start the losses, unfortunately I don't ever go back on the diet again!!

Good luck all and here's hoping for results for us all 🤞

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/03/2022 12:11

@Nelliephant1 welcome. Do whatever method works for you.

@ShinyPikachu have you had your bloods done recently? You could be lacking something that means you keep getting ill. Worth checking

Blueplan · 14/03/2022 20:09

@GreatBigBeautifulTommorow. I understand how disappointing it can be when you have stuck rigidly to a plan and then only lose a small amount - or worse, stay the same. It happens to me and to everyone who is trying to lose weight. But, I have come to realise that even though I still have a long way to go (about another 8st, despite already losing 3st) or maybe, because I have so far still to go, I need to think in terms of the red of my life, not just the next week. I need to be able to live with my new way of eating for a long time, possibly the rest of my life, so I need to be comfortable with it and that means accepting that some weeks I will lose more than others.

ShinyPikachu · 14/03/2022 20:11

Not recently but I've been like this for years and my bloods before were always fine.

Honestly people washing their hands properly, using hand sanitiser and wearing masks in the last 2 years has made a huge difference for me even if people didn't think it did. I can't wear a mask myself so I was definitely protected by others who did. But I guess all that has led to common colds and other little bugs being worse than normal for them now as there have been some nasty ones going around our area and a lot of friends have caught them (with quite a few others ending up with covid instead so I'm definitely counting my chickens there that I've missed it so far.) DH works with the public so he brings a lot of bugs home, he'll be sniffly for a couple of days and then be fine but I'll be exhausted and hardly able to do anything for a week. Sad

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/03/2022 20:23

@ShinyPikachu that sounds awful for you. Sad I wish I had the answers for you.

ShinyPikachu · 14/03/2022 22:11

Thanks @HerRoyalHappiness Sorry for turning this into a pity party but I'd been rather enjoying not being I'll in the last two years, it feels crazy to say that when we've been in a pandemic as well. Blush

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Or hopefully downwards on the scales. 😂

ShinyPikachu · 14/03/2022 22:12

Damn autocorrect gets me every time on that one.
