Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

@jeshka07 I think the most important thing is to find something that you can stick to, you need something that works for you and for your lifestyle. I'm currently doing intermittent fasting. So eating 800-1000 calories a day. Eating my meal in the evenings with plenty of fruit and veg, trying to keep to the lower end of my calorie allowance during the week if I'm going out eating and drinking at the weekend, so I don't feel bad about the extra calories.
Don't overdo the exercise, you don't want to feel lethargic and ache which will lead you to being lazier and possible overeating the next day, build it up, might even be worth not adding any additional exercise until you've got used to your new diet.
There's loads of different things you can do, calorie counting, intermittent fasting, low carb, meal replacement drinks etc, whatever you choose just make sure you feel like it's sustainable, if it's not working for you, find something else.
Finally if you have a bad day, don't beat yourself up about it, just start the next day fresh, one day won't ruin everything.
One of the things I struggle with is feeling like it's taking forever and I'll never get to my target weight so try to set smaller goals along the way.
I'm currently 3st 1.5lbs down, just under 4st to lose. I've got to remember although I've got a long way to go, I'd have been super happy to be this weight a few months ago and just need to keep going, if I do nothing, then I'll never achieve it.

HerRoyalHappiness · 20/02/2022 14:31

@jeshka07 welcome. As @Echoes89 said finding something you can stick to is vital. I know I've fallen well and truly off the wagon, but getting back on after a blip is just as important. Its going ti happen, we're going to hit bumps in the road, it's a long ass journey, but we can do it.

Thank you @Echoes89 for the great advice. I feel like I have been in this position 100 times before, each time with the amount to lose creeping up! Definitely going to sit down and work out some smaller goals so I don't feel so overwhelmed. 3st 1.5 is amazing and I can't wait til ive lost that much! Thank you as well @HerRoyalHappiness so nice to have others to share the long journey with xx

Hmum0fthree · 20/02/2022 15:22

Can I join? Grin

Currently pregnant and calorie counting iv gained 4LB in 2 weeks so need to rain it in now!

Having a C-section so don't want to put anymore unnecessary weight on, will have 6/7 stone to lose once baby is here Blush

I did really well calorie counting after my second child then we moved to a renovation house and I put it all back on!

Hmum0fthree · 20/02/2022 15:24

@Jeshka07 don't cut out the good stuff! Iv been a yo yo dieter for 25 years, I started calorie counting and it was the best way for me to lose weight as I could still eat everything I wanted within my calories!

Jeshka07 · 20/02/2022 15:28

@Hmum0fthree I think calorie counting is the way I'm going to go as I know rather totally cutting stuff out does not work for me xx

Echoes89 · 20/02/2022 16:30

Just remember when calorie counting to include drinks, even adding milk and/or sugar can soon add up to quite alot of calories

Hmum0fthree · 20/02/2022 16:44

@Echoes89 Yes I weighed my sugar that I would put into tea or coffee and save it on my app! I only have 1 a day but if I had more I would probably measure out my milk for the day every morning and add it to my app

ShinyPikachu · 21/02/2022 16:46

Welcome to everyone joining!

I weighed in at 19st 2.9lb this morning. A gain of 2.3lb for the fortnight I was ill but for some reason my app has decided to count it as a new starting weight so I'm not going to complain. Officially restarting as of today.

Because of being so ill as well as the bad weather I've not been at Pilates this month so I'll restart that at the start of next month too as a new block starts then.

I'm just getting used to having to weight and count everything again. It was so easy when I was ill to just grab whatever I could without thinking about it and I need to get back to good habits now.

Hi. Weighed in at the weekend but forgot to log it here! Anyway, lost 1/4 lb. Which I am pleased with - half term last week meant I was at home, sitting more than usual and being a bit more relaxed than normal ( a couple of chocolates here and there). Also, it was my birthday (a big one) which meant a meal out and a take away, as well as dessert which I don't usually have and cake! So, I am really pleased to have lost anything as I really thought I might put on or, if I was lucky, I might stay the same. So, total loss to date, 2st 11 3/4lbs.
@Jeshka07 I completely agree with @Echoes89 - find something you can live with for an extended time. I am following WW Mon - Fri and relaxing a little at the weekend. The thought of a little treat at the weekend makes it so much easier to be strict during the week. My weekend treat is cheese and a couple of chocolates. It's something I feel I can continue for as long as I need and once I have lost my weight, I will hopefully have developed a better, more healthy relationship with food than I have had until now.

HerRoyalHappiness · 21/02/2022 20:04

Well done @Blueplan

I'm back on track now. Hit my gold medal today, got loads of steps in. Probably because my son managed to lose his school jumper, tie and 3 white shirts Hmm so I had to go shopping for new. With money I don't really have.
Had some awful news. One of DDs best friends mum has passed away very suddenly over the weekend, leaving behind a DH, and 2 DDs (13 and 8) DD is devastated, she loved her friends mum and is now worried about me as if her friends mum can die then I can too, mummys aren't immortal after all.
She held it together all day in school, with her friend (who wanted to go to school and be with her friends) hugging her when she cried, reading with her in the den. The teachers came to tell me how caring she'd been. Then we got home and the minute we got through the door the floodgates opened and she was full on sobbing. I feel awful for all the family. DD was there often, sleeping over, having tea. She was there Thursday for tea. It just doesn't seem fair at all. Sad

Oh @HerRoyalHappiness, I'm so sorry to hear that. I work in a primary school and in all my time there, I would say we have had at least one family who have been bereaved of a parent every year. It is heartbreaking. And, as you say, it affects the children who are friends of the child as well. Life is so unfair at times. Hug your dd tight. X Flowers

HerRoyalHappiness · 22/02/2022 07:19

DD had a rough night. Tossing and turning, very upset. She goes to a Catholic school so she asked me why God was so mean and why did he take away her friends mummy. I had no answers. I just told her I didn't know and that sometimes it's really unfair and its ok to be sad and angry about that.

On a brighter note I'm 2.3lb down this morning compared to yesterday.

How's everyone getting on?
I'm doing really well this week, hitting all of my goals and focusing on my health.

Blueplan · 25/02/2022 18:00

Glad to hear that @HerRoyalHappiness. Back to normal this week, after my more relaxed week last week. I weigh tomorrow morning, but I'm hoping to lose a 1 or 2 lbs. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Hope your dd is OK.

Blueplan · 26/02/2022 09:52

Weighed this morning and I'm down by just over 2 1/4lbs😁 bringing my total so far to 3st 1/4 lbs. I am very happy with that. I've also worked out that if I can maintain my current rate of loss, I can potentially lose another 2st before I have to shop for my outfit for the big family event later this year and then another 7lbs + before the actual event. I'm feeling very positive about it today!
Hope everyone else is happy with their progress this week. Flowers

HerRoyalHappiness · 26/02/2022 10:01

Huge well done @Blueplan that's amazing

I'm back. I gave up there for a while as I just couldn't control my eating. But this week for the first time in a long time I've eaten properly all week with no desire for rubbish.

Weigh in today is 122.7 kg (19.3 stone) a loss of 1.3 kg (2.8 lbs) but could have been more as I stopped weighing myself for a while as the increases we depressing me.

So what changed? This week I started listening to guided meditations on youtube. Never done meditation before but thought I'd give it a go. It had me sobbing within seconds. I don't even know what I was crying about but clearly I had a lot of pent up stuff to release. And, as they say, the proof is in the pudding, or absence of pudding in my case.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 26/02/2022 10:34

Well done everyone who's manage to lose and those who've fallen down but are pulling themselves back up.

ShinyPikachu · 28/02/2022 11:44

So sorry to hear about your DD's friend's mum @HerRoyalHappiness

Well done on losses.

I've had a 0.7lb gain this week but I'm badly bloated from my period and we've been away for another family birthday this past weekend with lots of takeaways during the week too as I'm sure I'm in a fibro flare again. I've also not managed any exercise which I know makes a big difference for me.

We've got a full month now until the next two family birthdays so I'll be strict with myself until then. (And yes we do seem to have a ridiculous amount of birthdays to celebrate, there's 2 in January then one a month until August (apart from June but May one is late and July one is early, we did used to have a June one too) then we finally get a break until Christmas. The March and April ones are close enough to be celebrated together at least but they all involve travelling and staying with family and either going out to eat or having takeaways or both. Sometimes DM cooks for us but the takeaways are probably healthier, this time we got a roast chicken dinner, I stuck to some chicken and the veggies but the cabbage she cooked was probably greasier than the chips. 😂

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 05/03/2022 08:30

Another 1.1 kg (2 lbs) loss for me. 2 successful weeks for me, finally!

How's everyone else doing.

Echoes89 · 05/03/2022 10:33

I went away for a few days, so relaxed and had a few too many drinks, so was fully expecting an increase in weight, also caught covid urgh.
So back to 14st 2lbs, can't complain too much really considering it's only 0.5 lb increase. Hoping I don't put on any more while I'm poorly.

Hope everyone else is doing okay

DuckWithOneWing · 05/03/2022 10:34

At my weigh in today, I am under 20 stone!

Hope everyone else is doing ok

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 05/03/2022 16:40

Checking in if I may?
Over 10 stone to lose but just aiming for a stone at a time.
Lost 6lb 4oz on first week last week.
Work dress has felt looser this week but not sure I’ll lose anything this week as ovulation and historically gain a bit, we’ll see.

NSVs-have not had to take painkillers everyday this week for back and ankle pain (on feet at work all day)
I’m eating veg everyday and a glass of water (don’t usually eat veg or drink water Blush)
Work dress not so tight.
Felt more energetic.

It’s hard work! Hope everyone’s doing ok?

Blueplan · 05/03/2022 19:01

Hi all. Only 1/2lb loss this week, but it's a loss, so I'm happy with that. @GreatBigBeautifulTommorow I set my new target every 1/2 stone. That way I feel as though I have achieved something every few weeks. I find that once you get beyond the first couple of weeks, when the loss begins to settle down to a smaller, but steady rate, the smaller targets suit me better.

@HerRoyalHappiness hope your dd is feeling a bit better now.
