Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Half a stone lighter since joining this thread! As I have such a long way to go, I am setting mini goals to keep me motivated - first one is to loose 10% of my starting weight by May. Watch this space.......

Blueplan · 23/01/2022 08:16

@vanillacupcake19 I am doing something similar, except even smaller targets - half a stone at a time. It all just helps to make it seem easier. I know I have a hell of a lot to lose, but breaking it down into 7lb increments means I see any loss, even a tiny one, as a real positive and it gives me encouragement for the coming week. If I compared my losses to the total amount I need to lose, I would become very disheartened, very quickly. I have a special event in the autumn and will need to get kitted out for it in the summer. So, realistically, I need to accept that my weight will not reduce by the full amount in that time. I'm hoping to have dropped a total of 5st by then, but if not, so be it.

HerRoyalHappiness · 23/01/2022 09:33

@vanillacupcake19 massive well done.

I'm half a lb down today. I'll take it.
Made the kids chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and resisted them myself

@blueplan yes it's a bit overwhelming to think of the total amount to go at this point! Hopefully mini goals will keep us on track 👍🏼

vanillacupcake19 · 23/01/2022 11:15

@HerRoyalHappiness Well done! Everything lost adds to the total. Congrats on not picking - that's my downfall as I seem to think that "just the one" doesn't count 🙈

What is everyone eating for snacks? I've always struggled with this and I get easily bored with the options...

Hummus and cucumber or carrots
Oven baked walkers crisps
Apple with a bit of crunchy peanut butter
Crackerbread and low fat soft cheese

And that's about it! Does anyone have anything to add to my list?

Thank you x

HerRoyalHappiness · 23/01/2022 17:34

I snack on fruit, skinny whip bars, fibre one bars, skinny food co chocolate snack pots (bread sticks and chocolate) and popcorn.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 23/01/2022 17:52

I snack on bananas and porridge or toast with nutella and more banana.

This weekend though has been a disaster and I've been snacking on chocolate and biscuits and pain au chocolat.

Tomorrow is a new day. Again!

RunningInTheWind · 23/01/2022 17:56

I’m unable to snack at all - it’s like breaking the seal and then I can only stop when the cupboard is empty.

I had a milestone birthday last week so ate cake and was merry - will see what the damage is in the morning.

Nearly a month in and we’re all still here!

Thanks for the suggestions - and thanks so much for starting the thread. It's been fab!

Solongtoshort · 23/01/2022 19:24

I have stopped snacking but l do eat Kvargh yoghurts which are lovely the white chocolate and the chocolate chip nip my sweet tooth into place, the vanilla is just lovely x

ShinyPikachu · 23/01/2022 19:32

Well done on the losses everyone!

I don't think there's any one thing I go to for snacks. I like the skinny whips and skinny dreams and for crisps then Wotsits and Quavers and I just make sure I'm counting the calories on them. Because I'm trying to focus on better meals (I say after having so many takeaways this week 🙈) I do find I'm snacking less when I'm making a point on thinking of what I'm eating that way.

My period started last night so fingers crossed it's not a bad one so I don't go out and buy lots of chocolate. It's the only time I really ever crave it. I'm not as bloated as I was last month when I came on so hopefully that's a good sign this week but I do know if I don't have an overall loss tomorrow that next week should be a good one.

DollyDingleberry · 24/01/2022 08:45

5lbs off this week, chuffed to bits with that! 20st 2lbs down to 19st 11lbs so it feels like a jump Grin

Double cream in coffee, pork scratchings and chorizo crisps spread with butter but I suspect we’re on very different diets Grin
RunningInTheWind · 24/01/2022 08:48

Well done Dolly! That’s brilliant!

Just a pound for me and I think I must be hormonal as I had to get up at 2:30 and make porridge and am starving again now. Have a long drive this morning and meeting with lawyer and can’t do that on an empty stomach.

ShinyPikachu · 24/01/2022 09:07

Sigh. The 18 during the week was there to tease me. Back up and then some so think the takeaways caught up with me. I'm also bloated AF thanks to my period (not even sure I want to do my measurements today as my stomach will definitely have gone up a few inches).

I might do daily weigh ins again this week to try and keep me motivated. I've had some bad news recently and DH is stressed because of his job so we've been squabbling a lot recently which before would make me reach for the crap but I'm determined not to fall into that trap again at least.

Bit disappointed this month as I've lost only 7lbs so far this month weigh in on the 27th. I'm eating so little compared to what I used too it's not fair !!
Started September 2021
SW: 18 stone 1lb
CW: 13 stone 13lb
GW: 10 stone 7lbs

Fingers crossed can get to goal weight for my holiday in August.

elliejjtiny · 24/01/2022 10:04

2lbs down today. Very pleased with that.

HerRoyalHappiness · 24/01/2022 10:27

Well done on the losses everyone. Ive so far had a 7lb overall loss this month. Hoping I can get a bit more off but won't be upset if I don't. Half a stone is half a stone.

I'm restarting after losing three stone prior to having DS. Put it back on plus some more.

2lb down on Saturday

Absolutely. I hope for 2lbs a week. This is enough to be a loss but not so much that I begin to look gaunt. My past experience tells me that I also suffer fewer skin rolls if I lose at a slower rate as my body has the time to shrink back better than if I try to lose quickly. I also need to be able to continue this for a long time, so I don't put it back on again. All of which means I lose more slowly, but hopefully, more permanently.

I think you need to have a word with the little voice that's telling you that 7lbs is anything to be disappointed with - that's the same weight as my son was when he was a couple of weeks old!

That's half a stone and it's only taken you what, 3 weeks? That's a rate of 2.4lbs per week which if you maintained for the full year would mean you lost 8 and a half STONE in 52 weeks. That's a whole, fully grown person.

2.4lbs a week is very fast weight loss and yes, although you do lose more at the beginning that's because you lose water weight mostly for a couple of weeks. It looks like you're not losing the buckets of water and actually, your 2.4lbs a week is most likely genuine weight loss.

I bet your rate won't slow much beyond 2lbs a week providing you stick at it, whereas those of us with bigger losses in these first couple of weeks will probably average out the same over time.

Don't look for excuses to stop and if you're feeling like you're not eating enough you need to change diet plan ASAP!

Solongtoshort · 24/01/2022 22:33

Wow some great losses, well done all.

Today l had a shocker of a day, l got up late for work, how l got from bed to work in 23 minutes is beyond me. So l didn’t take my lunch to work or have breakfast, l was starving l had a skinny whip bar for my breakfast, l had to route around my desk for it. Then l had a shop bought sand which for my lunch. One of the things l have done is gone gluten free because of the way my stomach feels after l have eaten bread. I was missing bread a lot till 1 o clock when my stomach started hurting. I think l will go back to giving it up x

SparkleWhale · 25/01/2022 10:42

So far a sustained 5lb loss here. Trainer thinks it's because I'm working out 5 days a week and building muscle but it's also combined with a few days on the old high calorie binge eating days.

Trying to stick to 1800 calories a day with 1.5 hours of exercise 5 days a week (30 minutes HIIT cardio with the rest devoted to weights). I need to start taking measurements so I don't get disheartened.
