Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

I've also got alarms to remind me to eat regularly or I forget then end up binging at night as I'm starving!

Off to the gym this afternoon. Haven't been since Monday and my arms and back have been killing me since. Third dose of Saxenda 0.6mg today and so far, a little appetite suppression but no other side effects. I'm just hoping the appetite suppression will stay.

Made myself and DD2 a big 7 egg omelette stuffed with spring onions, red peppers & spinach for lunch. It's filled me for now but I know post-gym I'll be ravenous so I have to remind myself to make good choices this evening when the cravings really kick in.

Any tips on increasing water intake? Is anyone actually successful with 3 litres a day? Also any tips for calorie free sweeteners for coffee? I have some Sweetex but I feel like it doesn't taste 'right', if you know what I mean?

Still 22 stone 7lb but I'm not giving up!

ShinyPikachu · 13/01/2022 14:35

@SparkleWhale I really like the cold infusions bags for drinking more water. I can't have anything with artificial sweeteners so all squash type drinks are out but I really like these. I have a few Twinings ones and some Tetley ones. Some flavours I like more than others so I basically bought them all to find the ones I like.

I had some new jeans I ordered arrive today. I'd say before lockdown I was around a size 20 but I knew I wouldn't be that now with the weight I've gained, especially as most of it seems to have gone on my stomach. The reviews for these jeans say that they ordered a size up after people saying they came in small and still couldn't get them on at all so recommended going 2 sizes up. Largest size was a 24 so I got them thinking it would take a while to get in them.

They ALMOST fit. I can get the button to touch but can't quite make it close. So my first mini non-weight goal will be to get into these jeans. I've lived in stretchy or baggy clothes for so long and I've missed having nice jeans and a top on when I go out.

I think the most important thing is that you're noticing your patterns and know where you're slipping up and that's the first step towards making changes that hopefully stick. If you think the therapist is the way to go for you then go for it, it could be just what you need to kick any changes into action for you.

And no need to feel bad over it either, no-one is perfect. I find the evenings hard too so I've still had some snacks then but I just limit myself (whereas before I probably wouldn't have) and the orange sounds like a great choice if you're needing something then, even if you have a big stash of them for now. I just make sure I count it as my calories, even on the days I go over. Ignoring it because it's "just one wee thing" is how I fall back into not caring what I eat. Different things work for different people and hopefully you find something that works for you, whatever it is. Smile

I'm actually really bad at forgetting to eat. I don't do it on purpose but the days I don't make myself eat to a basic schedule are the ones I'll slip up on. I've even set alarms to remind me to eat, I don't know if that's something that would work for you? I'm never hungry when I wake up which doesn't help as I used to often skip breakfast. Now I'm making sure I have something every day, even if it's a small bowl of cornflakes. And I'm definitely snacking less through the day as a result.

Thank you so much for your lovely response I feel like I’m trying to do too much at once that’s my problem but yes I need to eat more during rhe day when ‘normal’ people eat rather than being hungry in the evenings and I need to get some healthier food in for definite
meliscanan88 · 13/01/2022 18:12

I'd like to join,I need to lose 6.

ShinyPikachu · 13/01/2022 20:08

@RenGreen - it's the trying to do too much that's always my downfall. It's all about finding the right balance and what's balanced for you isn't the same for someone else and that's something that's taken me a while to properly get into my head. Just do what you need to for yourself.

Welcome @meliscanan88 Smile

I had Pilates again tonight and went for a double class so I've earned a good few calories back from that. I'm exhausted but I know it'll be worth it. Before I would have gone straight into the chippy or the Chinese takeaway on the way home (we have both those, a pie shop and a kebab place annoyingly close to our house) but I'm about to go have a WW tikka masala instead. There may be a small glass or two of wine again but just because there was a bottle open I feel I should finish and better to do it when I have the spare calories for the day. Grin

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/01/2022 20:29

I've binged and now I feel awful.
I've just had some cunt come and kick my door. It rattled in the frame.
No idea who as by the time I'd got there they'd gone. Police are completely uninterested as they didn't actually get into the house.
So it completely stressed me out and I ate half a can of pringles and 4 bags of walkers French fries.

OP posts:
RunningInTheWind · 13/01/2022 20:49

Does HALF a tube of Pringles count as a binge? Blush amateur!

Welcome Melissa!

My eating is still 100% under control and I’m STILL not skinny. Fml.

ShinyPikachu · 13/01/2022 20:52

Un-mumsnetty hugs for you too @HerRoyalHappiness Thanks

With the door kicking, is that not a TikTok thing right now? It's not happened to us but I'm sure I've heard it happening to others. They think they're being fucking hilarious but it'll be scary for so many people. AngrySad

Don't let this one binge get you down though. I guarantee we'll all do it at some point and the important thing is to just draw a line under it and get focused again once you're feeling better.

SparkleWhale · 13/01/2022 21:16

I was doing so well today and then the bastard binge eating sugar monster came out and EVEN THOUGH I WAS FULL I devoured a pack of cheese and onion crisps and one of those share bars of Dairy Milk orange chocolate.

Blush

Back to the gym tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day.

ShinyPikachu · 14/01/2022 08:53

Morning all!

Down a bit again this morning so now only 0.2lb more than my starting weight. I'm not sure how I'll be after this weekend though so I'm glad I've at least lost most of what I gained last week.

Really craving fizzy juice so might treat myself to a can or two as treats for today. We don't keep any in the house or I would be too tempted by it all the time.

ShinyPikachu · 14/01/2022 08:56

Tomorrow is a new day.

I think this is the best way to look at it, especially after a binge. It's so easy to think "well I've messed up already so might as well keep on doing it". It's just trying to get out of that headspace and learning to draw the line and get back on track.

Neverknowinglyunderfed · 14/01/2022 09:04

Totally agree. Try not to worry about what happened yesterday. Concentrate on today now.
Not sure about where you are but it's a beautiful sunny day today here, so I'm planning on getting outside and getting some steps in 😊

RunningInTheWind · 14/01/2022 09:20

None of us ended up like this because of one bad day. It was a bad day followed by a bad day for months upon years in end. Today is a new day.

It’s lovely here today so I’m meeting with a friend after lunch to swim in the sea. Not in any form of athletic endeavour- just for the joy of it.

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/01/2022 10:24

Yep, today is a new day.
It's grey and miserable here and we're still in covid isolation, so can't go out.
Kids are playing upstairs, I've prepped tonoghts tea (beef stew and mash) and it's in the slow cooker cooking away. (I'll make the mash later)

I've got a can of Dr pepper zero and I think I'll read my book for a bit.

I spent a year going to an eating disorders clinic and they were absolutely clear that you MUST eat regularly. Skipping meals means that your blood sugar drops so low that your body will then drive you to seek out high energy foods to bring it back up again. It's the starve/binge cycle and to break it you have to stick to a proper eating plan with the following rules.

3 meals and 2/3 snacks a day. Space them out so that you never go more than 3 hours without eating something.

Set them out in a schedule that works for you and then stick to the times as much as possible. That way you're not relying on hunger signals which we know are messed up.

If you binge or over eat you must still eat following the schedule, even if you're full. Eat something small, but eat something. You're training you body to know it's coming.

Do not go more than 3 hours without eating. If you do you will struggle to control the amount you eat later. I was told it was better to eat a bag of chips than to break this rule. Healthy is best but even junk food is better than nothing.

When I still to this I have no trouble losing weight. Problem for me is that having a sleep disorder sometimes means I'm so tired I just don't care anymore.

I hope that helps some of you.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 14/01/2022 12:29

Well done everyone who's lost weight and well done to those who haven't for not giving up.

Oh now I'm jealous. Sounds lovely
ShinyPikachu · 14/01/2022 14:20

My body is definitely protesting about doing exercise yesterday and I'm just wanting to eat crap now and I'm just so achey as I've not been used to doing anything. I'm trying to be good but I'm just having a very hungry day.

Tempted to go for a bath or a nap (I didn't sleep well last night) because it keeps me from wandering into the kitchen at least. Blush

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/01/2022 17:43

My door has just been kicked again. This time there's a lovely footprint under the handle. The polices suggestion... get a doorbell camera. Like I just have money to throw at the problem. I've told them there's cctv on the estate owned by the council but they aren't interested. Basically I have to catch the culprit myself before they'll do anything.

RunningInTheWind · 14/01/2022 20:05

That’s horrible HRH. Sad fucking fuckers.

I fucked up with my swimming today. Didn’t eat properly beforehand and the soup was uncooked when I got home. Ended up snarfing a flapjack. In future must take porridge with me and have soup ready to heat up as soon as I get through the door.

It was bloody freezing but lovely. 5 of us there today. The slim ones really feel the cold… Grin

ShinyPikachu · 14/01/2022 20:59

Oh not again @HerRoyalHappiness and I'm sorry the police aren't able to help.

I ended up going for a nap but I'm still over on calories today. I won't be counting everything over the weekend just because it'll be impossible but I'm going to try to add the basics at least which might stop me snacking the whole time.

Good luck to everyone for the weekend even if you don't have big plans like I do. They're always the toughest days for me normally as it is and the way my DM cooks I could easily be through most of my calories in one meal. Tomorrow's planned takeaway may actually be the better option and I might convince DH we should come home before dinner on Sunday.

HerRoyalHappiness · 14/01/2022 21:18

It happened again. Luckily this time my teen boy was in the living room and has caught them running off so was able to provide a description to the police.

You poor thing HRH. I can’t cope with sudden noises and I’d be in bits. I’m so glad to hear you’ve got your son with you for support.

Someone shared photos from swimming yesterday. I’m the biggest by a country mile.

HerRoyalHappiness · 15/01/2022 10:59

I've stayed the same this week. No surprised really as I've had a couple of bad days with some very salty foods.
