Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

@DollyDingleberry keep going! You might be surprised by Monday. Flowers

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Hope you’ve had a good Saturday.

DuckWithOneWing · 08/01/2022 21:30

I'm having a more relaxed weekend because it's my birthday. My partner is taking me out for dinner at a surprise restaurant tomorrow! I'm not going completely crazy, but I'm not counting as strictly as I have been. But I feel like I'm still in control if that makes any sense.

I saw myself on TV this week, and without being too outing I thought I looked terrible. I really liked the dress I was wearing but it just looked too tight and unflattering. So I'm still really motivated to lose weight.

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/01/2022 09:52

Good morning everyone. Happy birthday @DuckWithOneWing

I'm still feeling really positive. My entire mindset has shifted and I really feel like this time is the time I lose weight for good.

@DollyDingleberry I tend to stay the same all week and then whoosh the day before or the day of WI. I jumped on the scales this morning and was heavier than last WI (only by about 100g but still!)
In actual fact my pattern seems to go, lose, gain, maintain, lose. But ultimately I end up lighter than I started so I'm fairly relaxed about it now!

We had BIL here yesterday and I had a meet up with my nct group at soft play in the morning. Had nuggets from maccies with DD for lunch but had a salad for tea whilst the boys ate pizza. I'm calling that balance Grin

Carvery today and I just threw a blanket 1000 cals at it which should cover the plateful I had. It was one of those pubs with the GIANT cakes for pudding. Took a slice home, ate 1/3 of it and wrapped the rest up and popped it in the freezer, so feeling rather angelic.

ShinyPikachu · 09/01/2022 19:34

I've been struggling this weekend tbh. There's a Morris the caterpillar cake in the kitchen who taunts me every time I walk through and I've eaten more of him than I planned.

I'm about to tuck into roast chicken for dinner tonight. With sweetcorn and baby potatoes. I should be fine for today as long as I don't eat all the skin as I'm carving and don't put loads of butter in my veg. I can't promise that I won't have at least a little though. Grin

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/01/2022 20:11

I'm really struggling today. I am HUNGRY. I want all the food in the house.

Well I’m delighted. First weigh in and 8lbs down. Still can’t get my size 8s over my ankles Wink, but at least my dressing gown is gaping less. It always comes off my waist first which is nice because it’s very noticeable (for me!).

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/01/2022 06:20

Massive well done @RunningInTheWind

Well done @RunningInTheWind

My first weigh in sadly wasn't great. Gained 2lb and I'm pretty deflated by it tbh. I did think despite the extra calories for the birthday celebration that I'd hopefully done enough the rest of the days to have lost even a little something.

The weight I saw this morning is probably more what I was expecting last week so maybe that last weekend of treats hadn't fully kicked in yet and my starting weight wasn't a true representation.

But I'm not going to let it get to me. Well I'll try anyway. I'm going to stick to it and I might unofficially weigh myself each morning as that actually used to help me so I could see the patterns in my eating and weight.

I'm joining pilates classes this week too which should help as I've been stuck at the computer most of the last week. Because I don't drive I have a 15 minute walk to class and back (although I might have a friend joining me for some classes so may get a lift from her some days.)

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/01/2022 10:19

@ShinyPikachu you could just need the toilet, I find when I need a bowel movement I'm heavier, or if you're due TOTM then that can really affect things. So can not drinking enough water.

On a separate note, I have covid. Again. It's seriously trying to kill me. This is the 3rd time I've had it. If I lose my sense of smell and taste then I'll be fuming. I hated that last time.

OP posts:
ShinyPikachu · 10/01/2022 10:40

Oh no @HerRoyalHappiness I'm so sorry you have it again. Sad I hope it won't be bad for you this time.

As for me, I always weigh first thing so after I've peed but before a BM (I'm annoyingly regular there and can't go first thing) but also before drinking/eating anything. I always have a drink beside me no matter what it is (and it's not that often it's alcohol I swear 🤣) and I'm mid-cycle. The week before my period I always gain then, so thought this week would be ok.

But I also know I ate SO much crap the weekend before I first weighed in and things like that don't go on straight away for me so it's likely if I'd weighed myself on the Wednesday I would have seen the gain from that weekend. And I know Friday was not a good day at all, was just hoping the lower calories the rest of the week would have offset the extra ones then. Even with the cake this weekend I did count it and cut back on other things.

I'm dreading this weekend coming now. I won't be cooking and I can't weigh portions there so I'll just have to guess and that never goes well for me. Sad

elliejjtiny · 10/01/2022 12:06

WI today and it's 4 pounds off, hooray!

@RunningInTheWind that's amazing, well done.
@DollyDingleberry Hope today's weigh in surprised you. I always fluctuate during the week and it really worries me.
Happy Birthday for yesterday @DuckWithOneWing. I'm wondering if you're a celebrity now! Or maybe your just like my DH who has a weird hobby so occasionally pops up on the odd channel 4 documentary.
Sorry it wasn't better news @ShinyPikachu. There is a thread on mumsnet somewhere where a lady has been working at her computer while standing and gently bouncing on a mini trampoline. She's lost inches and clocked up loads of steps. I think I would end up in a and e if I tried that though!
@HerRoyalHappiness well done on the positive mindset. That always really helps. Sorry about the covid though. Just out of interest if you lose your taste and smell does that mean you end up eating less?

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/01/2022 12:09

@elliejjtiny no I didn't eat less last time. If anything I ate more trying to figure out what I could and couldn't taste. Very salty things were a hit so I lived off salt and vinegar crisps Grin

@HerRoyalHappiness - 3 times?! Blimey, that's unlucky or do you work in a high risk area?
We're still waiting to catch it, no idea how we've managed to avoid it (or had it with no symptoms) so far as DD goes to nursery and DH works in retail (although only one day a week).

Hope you don't get too bad with it and the taste remains!

@ShinyPikachu - Hopefully the gain this week just means a great week next week!

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/01/2022 12:57

@stackhead no, I'm disabled so don't work. I'm just prone to it I think! I'm double jabbed, and boostered and I still have it!
I'm prone to flu too and pneumonia, I get vaccines for those every year.

OP posts:
ShinyPikachu · 10/01/2022 14:25

@elliejjtiny - I saw that trampoline post. I have a dodgy back or I would be tempted to try it myself too.

@stackhead - thanks I'm hopeful but second weekend of big birthdays in a row is coming up.

I'm going to Pilates tonight though and walking home so I hope the exercise starts to help again. It definitely helps with my pain levels and insomnia once I get into a routine. I used to go to loads of classes but lockdown really screwed me over there and the weight gain since then has made it even harder to get back on track with my fitness.

I didn't say before though but I'm also a bridesmaid next year so I really want to shift weight before that or I'll struggle to cope all day as I'll be on my feet a lot so that's another of my mini goals. I don't actually know what dress size I am right now as I've been living in very stretchy leggings and baggy oversized shirts and dungarees so if I could get down to around a 16-18 for the wedding then I'd be happy. Obviously more would be good too but I want to be realistic at the same time.

ShinyPikachu · 10/01/2022 15:33

I've got changed into new clothes that arrived to try them on (more dungarees) and I've just realised how horribly bloated my stomach is today. So it could be my period being a dick and coming too early (last one arrived on Christmas Day, I've always had irregular periods but usually longer cycles than short). Or it could be the fact I've been drinking more water rather than just coffee that maybe my body is holding onto it for whatever stupid reason. But that could definitely explain the gain this week with how bloated I am. Fingers crossed for next week now then.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 10/01/2022 15:34

You had covid 3 times? Shock

I've lived in fear of catching it because of my weight, convinced I'd die. Thankfully I've managed to avoid it so far.

weegiemum · 10/01/2022 16:11

I'm not doing too bad, lost 3lb last week.

Tonight for dinner I'm doing a sweet potato curry and I'm using my new instant Pot for the first time. I've put no oil in at all and reduced the coconut milk, so it should be a bit/lot healthier. Trying to make meals that I can eat along with dh and our 2 dc (young adults) still at home. I think this gadget will encourage me to cook from scratch a bit more (I try to do it but I'm disabled and think that not having to stand over the job and stir things will be good).

I had a few glasses of wine over the weekend as we had friends over so back to alcohol free this week too!

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/01/2022 16:27

@BringBackCoffeeCreams yep, 3 times. I'm sure it's trying to kill me like "she's still alive? Infect her again!"

@weegiemum your curry sounds delicious

I've ordered subway for tonight. I've ended up with a pounding headache and don't want to cook.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 10/01/2022 16:33

I've just scoffed a chocolate mousse chocolate bar. I feel a bit guilty as it's a lot of points but I'm so tired. I had an awful night last night and can barely keep awake today. Me and tiredness are not friends. But if I can limit it to just 1 then that's better than in the past. Lets see how the evening pans out.

Was very nice though.

ShinyPikachu · 10/01/2022 18:32

I've been to the supermarket on my way home from pilates and got some more of the WW frozen meals. I'm planning on going to class twice a week and because of the timing of it I'll struggle to cook as I'll be exhausted when I get home so they're probably the safest thing for me to stock up on.

RunningInTheWind · 10/01/2022 18:48

3x covid? Oh my, I’ve somehow managed to avoid that so far. Afaik anyway.

@ShinyPikachu I’m sorry the scales were rude but I hope you enjoyed Pilates.

Weegimum - I loved my instantpot until I killed it, I’m back on the slow-cooker again. Curry sounds good!
