Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Even my DS couldn't keep up with Joe Wicks and he has ADHD and is super fit.

DollyDingleberry · 07/01/2022 18:42
@DollyDingleberry that’s exactly what I’m finding, but I’m just hoping for the best, and my diet is DEFINITELY also healthier, way less sugar and a lot more fresh veg and good fats. The thing is, I actually enjoy eating this way, I was just eating too much rubbish on top of all the healthy stuff! My weigh in is tomorrow, so we shall see! Good luck for yours. What zero foods do you have? I have all veg, fruit, potatoes, avocado, fish and skinless chicken breast.
I have potatoes, parsnips, sweet potatoes etc and poultry free and all non starchy veggies but my fruit is pointed. This suits me though. I told the system I’m diabetic because PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) causes insulin resistance/ insulin resistance causes PCOS. No one is sure. Either way the dietician’s advice is essentially to eat like a diabetic to reduce my PCOS symptoms which means reduce sugar and aim for nutrient dense carbs like potato, not bread or pasta etc.

I like that even though I can still have fruit, bread, potato etc I’m rewarded for choosing the options that align with my dieticians advice and I’m hoping I get a reduction in PCOS symptoms and maybe even stop my bleeding and avoid a hysterectomy ages 31 Sad

This is a whole other thing, but basically I gave birth 9 months ago and never stopped bleeding. They’re not sure if it’s something left behind or as a result of my PCOS being a bastard. If it’s the latter, I’ll need a hysterectomy because I can’t keep my iron levels out of a dangerous range.

I’m also aware I’m adding a lot of dietary iron, so I’m also hoping my next blood tests show an improvement in my iron levels (I take the max dose of iron tablets and my iron levels are still dropping due to the bleeding) so they give my body a bit more time to stop bleeding before we’re forced into next steps.

Sorry that was a lot Blush

HerRoyalHappiness · 07/01/2022 19:09

@DollyDingleberry Flowers thats a lot for you to deal with, and all while running round after a baby! It must be really difficult. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the bleeding stops

@DollyDingleberry please don’t apologise, that’s a huge amount to deal with and must be very upsetting. Flowers Everything crossed things improve and you can avoid the hysterectomy. Hope today has gone well for you.

All good here, first weigh in tomorrow so shall report back.

How are you doing @HerRoyalHappiness?

Welcome @Neverknowinglyunderfed!

Katyppp · 07/01/2022 23:04

@hopingforabrighterfuture2021
My free foods are fish, eggs, potatoes/sweet potatoes and oats.
I have to point rice and pasta, which I didn't have to before, so that is a big change for me.
I had the opposite problem today - I got to the end of today and had 16 points left!
I have just had four cream crackers with butter to use some up.

HerRoyalHappiness · 08/01/2022 08:29

@hopingforabrighterfuture2021 I'm doing really well. I'm now 7lb down from my start weight and feeling really good about continuing Grin

Thanks ladies. One question. Are you planning on weighing weekly? Part of me think as I have a lot to lose I should weigh myself monthly but worried I might also then lose mkmwntum?

Katyppp · 08/01/2022 08:41

I waigh myself every Friday morning

It really depends how much you can trust that whatever it is you’re doing is working for you? Weighing monthly will show big drops, but if something isn’t working and you need to change something you could end up gaining a lot before you’d realise.

I would probably start off weighing weekly and then drop to monthly once you’ve established a really good routine.

Morning.. I've had a name change (was @Longandwinding)... not posted for a few days as so busy, but so glad this thread is here and that we are all going for it. Still undecided on exactly how, just thinking calories and exercise at the mo and hoping that (plus no alcohol) will be enough. Eight stone to lose so its a long term way of life change...

Neverknowinglyunderfed · 08/01/2022 09:04

Yeah that's probably sensible. I'll give that a go and if I see it's working I'll maybe step back from the scales a bit! In the past I've been guilty of weighing myself wayyyy too much which can be so bad for my mental health.
I've been healthy eating since 1st Jan and it's probably just in my head but I already feel like I've got a bit more energy 😊

HerRoyalHappiness · 08/01/2022 09:14

@Neverknowinglyunderfed you probably do have more energy. I certainly do.

@PatchworkSilver that sounds a sensible plan.

I lost 2.1 kg (4.6lbs) this week. First loss of many I hope.

RunningInTheWind · 08/01/2022 09:29

I’m weighing myself every couple of days but official weigh-in on Monday. I’ve found in the past that when I don’t keep an eye on it I slack off, the needle moves up and I throw in the towel.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 08/01/2022 09:32

First weigh in today after a week on track, -6lb. Very happy with that! Have a good day all. @HerRoyalHappiness that’s amazing!

Neverknowinglyunderfed · 08/01/2022 09:47

Well done to you both. Amazing start to the year!

@BringBackCoffeeCreams apologise, I missed yours! Amazing!

ShinyPikachu · 08/01/2022 11:26

Morning all!

Welcome to those joining and well done on those losses so far!

I survived the first birthday celebration yesterday, I didn't track any calories as we ate out for lunch (I had a huge plate of creamy pasta so don't think I even want to know how many were in that) then had a Chinese takeaway for dinner (special fried rice). There was a lot of wine and Prosecco but I had a big glass of water when I got home and drank another 3 throughout the night so thankfully no hangover today.

We didn't have any of the birthday cake we'd bought so that will likely be eaten today but I'll track that. I'm not a big cake lover anyway so won't be a huge slice for me.

Next weekend is the next birthday, we're going away to stay with family so I won't get much say in what we have for dinner or portion sizes so again I'm just going to try to come in under during the week to make up for it.

One bonus from yesterday is that I walked about 2.5 miles so racked up 282 calories back so that's hopefully going to help a little for this week. Fingers crossed anyway.

DollyDingleberry · 08/01/2022 12:16

Hi all, I’m still hanging in there but I had a look at my weight today and I’ve lost nothing Sad

Official weigh in isn’t until Monday though so I’m staying positive, looks like it’s going to be a slow and steady journey for me though.
