Hello! Terrible (well, good socially) weekend.

Had to have a really early dinner yesterday as at a concert starting at 7.30pm in town. Arrived home at 10.30 after two glasses of wine and ate half the contents of the fridge. Then SIL's birthday toady at a place that only does things with chips (burgers, steak, battered fish etc). I guess I didn't have to have pudding, but I seem to have no off switch once I've started.

See you back here tomorrow for the reckoning.

Coffeeanddarkchoc · 03/10/2021 18:42

Hi. I wasnt on the last thread but would love to join in here.

I've been trying to lose my lockdowm weight since july. I've almost lost a stone and a half but still have another 2+ stone to lose.

I usually have a takeaway treat at the weekend but havent had one this weekend and am feeling grumpy about it Sad

poorpaws · 03/10/2021 18:46

Well it’s happened again! Every time I eat a reasonable amount of food I am starving after it and starving all night, it’s obviously psychosomatic. I’m not hungry at all but I’m hungry 🥴 I had a lovely meal and dessert and I’ve come home and started grazing. If I cut down in the day I seem able to cut down in the evening too but it doesn’t work if I eat a lot. I am so sick of myself!

@TheTurn0fTheScrew It is so difficult to diet and have a social life. I am thinking of becoming a nun because as I see it it’s the only way I can stop eating. Draw a line under the weekend (so pleased you enjoyed it) and we’ll all start again tomorrow.

Good luck for tomorrow everyone.

@Coffeeanddarkchoc. Welcome to our little group, so pleased you are joining us. We are a small but very supportive group and welcome new people (who sadly don’t seem to stay long). I hope you enjoy this thread.

If you are interested most of us have set our own mini goal for the end of October. I think it helps to stay focused with bite sized pieces of weight loss. No pressure, we choose our own goals and try to do our best to attain them.

Most of us weigh in on Monday morning so if you’d like to call here then you’ll be able to meet our members and add your own stats if you’d like to. Well done on the loss so far (you’ve done better than I have) and good luck with your continued weight loss.

Oooh, a shiny new thread Smile. Can't believe I've made it this far, although this week was crap.

This is the first week I did no workouts at all, but my saving grace is that I've been sick for a couple of days so have just existed on lemsip and cereal, so hopefully that will mean I haven't gained too much.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow everyone.

poorpaws · 03/10/2021 21:39

@CreepingDeath yep you’ve made it and long may it continue. Sorry you’ve been sick and hope you’ve fully recovered now (so you an start afresh tomorrow 😇)

Morning all! (and welcome to @Coffeeanddarkchoc!)

I'm not going to weigh in today as I'm still on the sick list with @CreepingDeath Sad everything tastes like cardboard, although of course it's not stopped me eating plenty...

@TheTurn0fTheScrew I definitely agree about it hard to lose weight when you're out and about (I found it particularly hard when I was trying low carb-ing) - when you can control what you cook/ eat you can at least make sure there's some healthy options! When you're at a restaurant and it's chips with everything and a choice between a massive burger or something in batter... Confused

Thank you for the new thread @poorpaws! It's just under 12 weeks to Christmas, I'd really like to have at least half a stone off by then if I can rid myself of the lurgy!!

poorpaws · 04/10/2021 08:12

Good morning everyone

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl
Sorry you are still feeling rotten and hope you are well very soon. Take a week off until you feel better and maybe next week will be a good result for you.

So after a week of nearly killing myself (15,000 to 19,000 steps daily 1,2000 cals per day) Ive lost 2.3/4 lbs. I think it should be at least half a stone 😂

SW: 12st 2.3/4
CW: 11st 1.3/4
Mini goal: 11st
GW: 10st

So I’m about half way through this madness. Still a long way to go. I’d like 10 lbs off by Christmas but it’s not gonna happen. I want to be at goal by Easter at the latest (and look amazing for next summer).

Good luck with the weigh ins, hope we see some losses.

OP posts:
CreepingDeath · 04/10/2021 08:55

That’s brilliant poorpaws well done you! You’re so close to your mini goal.

I’m still feeling crap today, but I weighed myself anyway just out of curiosity. Funnily enough I’m down to my lowest weight of 142lbs Shock.

But it’s totally cheating, because I haven’t really eaten anything for the last 2 days.
As soon as I go back to eating again it will all go back on, but I’m thinking by the end of the week I can get back into the swing of things once I get my energy back.

SW: 151.8lbs
CW: 142lbs
GW: 140 lbs

Bjarnum · 04/10/2021 09:58

Well done paws and death. TheTurn0fTheScrew drinking is fatal for me - all control flies out the window. Welcome Coffeeanddarkchoc This has been a fairly good week for me
SW 14.13
CW 12.9 (down 2lbs - hurrah)
TW 10.0

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 04/10/2021 10:14

Wow! such a great week for everyone. great to see your losses poorpaws, bjarnum and CreepingDeath.

Best wishes Clara - take it easy. Welcome Coffeeanddarkchoc - great username, my favourite combination.

I am here to spoil the party. 1lb gain, which was thoroughly deserved.
Have been for a slow jog, and am making soup for tonight in an effort to turn over a new leaf.

professionalcockney · 04/10/2021 10:45

I lost 2lbs so back down to 11st 11. Well done to everyone this week ☺️

Coffeeanddarkchoc · 04/10/2021 11:13

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone and well done on your weigh ins this week.

Happy to join you and weigh in every Monday, so heres my starting details:
SW: 15.4
CW: 13.10/5
TW: 11st.
Mini goal for October: 13.3/5

poorpaws · 04/10/2021 13:37

Wow we’ve had some good losses this week, we must all be in determined mode.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew you’ll do it next week so just try your best.

@Coffeeanddarkchoc that’s a big mini goal for the end of October but good luck with it (I totally failed my first mini goal so have set more realistic goals for myself).

I think we’ve been amazing this week. I’m hoping for at least a pound off next week.

👏🌟 well done, great results this week.

poorpaws · 04/10/2021 15:35

Oh my goodness this sounds as if I’m making it up, but I promise I’m not.

One neighbour has brought me four cinnamon rock cakes, fair enough two each.

Now my chef neighbour has just brought me two cherry scones, two cheese scones and eight large pieces of shortbread in different flavours. Both delivered to my door at separate times. How the heck am I supposed to diet!

I’ve already frozen one cherry and one cheese scone but you can’t freeze shortbread (?) cos surely it will go soggy. It all smells so so good. I fear I must look like a waif and stray with all these gifts. 😂. Think I’ll have to let DP take some home.

OP posts:
PiffleWiffleWoozle · 04/10/2021 17:05

Oh no! Shortbread should freeze ok apparently: www.freezeit.co.uk/can-you-freeze-shortbread/

poorpaws · 04/10/2021 21:05

@PiffleWiffleWoozle hey thank you that’s brilliant news, I will freeze it tomorrow (or most of it 😉).

@poorpaws again, your neighbours are awesome!!

Well done to all the 'losers' and hugs for anyone not doing so well. I had a little cry this morning as DS2 is so horrible at the moment, I can't cope with him being rude and unhelpful on top of feeing awful. He's just turned 6 and nothing is getting through to him - rewards, punishments, discussions, etc. He used to be such a lovely little boy but in the last few months he's become unbearable Sad

I'm still snotty and exhausted and overwhelmed, frankly. I'll try to feel a bit more health-inspired tomorrow!

poorpaws · 05/10/2021 07:58

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl Flowers
Bless you, I feel so sorry for you. Get yourself better quickly, it’s so awful when you feel terrible and life (kids) get in the way as well. Try to rest if you can and this time next week you’ll be a different person. In the meantime I would be eating a little comfort food to help me out and sort healthy eating out later. It will get better for you soon, hang on in there.

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 05/10/2021 08:43

clara Poor you. Hopefully this is a phase DS is going through but I know from experience how hurtful and draining this sort of experience can be. Flowers

Sweetpea84 · 05/10/2021 08:45

Hope it’s ok to join? I’ve lost a stone in a month so far but have 4 more to lose. Well done to everybody

I’m in the same boat but with school my nearly 6 year old son is being a nightmare at school and the stress is killing me.

Bjarnum · 05/10/2021 10:49

@ paws. I must be the only one who is thoroughly relieved not to have your neighbours! It would be like giving whisky to an alcoholic in my case

poorpaws · 05/10/2021 13:32

@Sweetpea84 welcome to our group and well done on your loss so far. Hopefully you’ll continue to lose weight with mutual support.

We usually weigh-in on Monday morning and if you’d like to set a mini goal for the end of October, most of have done that because it feels less daunting.

@Bjarnum Im with you on that one but it seems rude to refuse and chef neighbour is a brilliant cook (well other neighbour is good too). Chef neighbour has ended her diet, she’s just given up on it, so now she’s cooking and baking like mad and also brings large portions, it’s a nightmare. Luckily DP is quite a 🐷 and he’s happy to eat it all but the smell is so enticing. If I wasn’t so very determined this time I’d easily be throwing the towel in but I keep repeating to myself “not this time...”

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 06/10/2021 09:53

@Sweetpea84 thankfully(?!) DS2 is ok at school but awful at home... he goes to a few sports clubs though and I know he doesn't behave well at a couple of those Sad I live in dread of being asked to remove him from something, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was. Yet when he's calm he's the sweetest boy you could imagine!

It's very wearing @Bjarnum, thank you for the Flowers - it's absolutely taking it out of me. I feel like if I could just have an afternoon 'off' lying on the sofa, not worrying about DS2/ housework/ work/ cooking, I'd be feeling so much better already. Sadly it is not to be...

Please send your lovely neighbours round to me @poorpaws, I'm still feeling dire and have no energy for cooking. I'm frustrated with myself that I was doing so well in my weight loss journey and am now feeling like a sack of spuds. I desperately need to do a big shop and plan out some menus for next week but even more desperately need to rest!!
