Hello! Sorry for late check in this week. I am down to 11st 11 - very sllllllooooooow.

@poorpaws keep going!

I hope all the illnesses have passed!

VikingsandDragons · 14/10/2021 11:28

Can I join you? I wasn't on the previous thread but I'm trying to shift the lockdown weight. Pre-lockdown I was a healthy size 10, 127lbs, and I got up to 179lbs and struggling to fit in size 14. I put this down to usually having a very active job, which was closed for all but 6 weeks April 2020-April2021 as well as being home, bored, desperately trying to home educate and failing so baking a lot.

I'm currently 165.4lbs, my next goal is 155lbs which is the dividing line between a healthy and overweight bmi for my height. I'd love to get this achieved in 6 weeks before a big family event we have coming up, these people all last saw me at nearly my biggest so I'd like to look more 'me' again and not have to buy another new dress (or at least buy one based on style rather than camouflage).

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 15/10/2021 10:15

Welcome @VikingsandDragons and well done on your weight loss so far!! I can certainly empathise with the home schooling struggles and baking a lot, shame I ate most of it myself rather than sharing Blush

That's a brilliant goal to have for your family event, are you following a particular weight loss plan or just generally cutting down and/ or exercising more? I'm missing my exercising at the moment, had got up to running 5K twice a week but now would struggle to walk it after being ill for a fortnight, I'm still wheezing! Hopefully after this weekend (big family party) I'll have more time/ headspace to devote to it...

Well done on the loss @professionalcockney! Hope you are well @poorpaws!

VikingsandDragons · 15/10/2021 18:01

Just calorie counting for the moment, work keeps me fairly active and honestly at the moment I feel spread far too thin with how much I have to do that the idea of trying to find or make time for more exercise seems a step too far.

poorpaws · 15/10/2021 18:19

I’ve spent three days baking, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! That’s all I’m saying.

Welcome @VikingsandDragons, nice to have you join us,

@paws I can so relate! for some reason i thought it a good idea to have a go at some Tudor cooking. Cakes of course. Unluckily they were wonderful -I virtually fed DP with a stirrup pump but there were some left over and I tripped and they fell into my mouth or something like that) I was so upset that I clearly needed medicinal wine ... Welcomeviking and poor you clara your bug seems to be dragging on. Hope you feel better soon - I'm in awe of the 5km. Quite puts me to shame!@ cockney at least you are going the right way!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 15/10/2021 22:09

@poorpaws I've been so busy for the past few days that I've pretty much lived off toast and Nutella Confused baking would have been a step up!! @Bjarnum's Tudor cakes sound delicious too!

Yes, I think I just can't shake this off as I've had no time to rest - work's really busy, we have a big family party at the weekend that I've had to do loads of prep for, and DP is still the laziest man in the world and doing zero tidying and cleaning Hmm where's a spa break when I need it?!

poorpaws · 16/10/2021 08:01

I made chocolate cupcakes, salted caramel cupcakes, coconut loaf cake and Belgium chocolate oats cookies, all now gone (mainly into my mouth). I actually resisted on the first day of making them but then sort of fell head first into all of them. I haven’t really had much sugary stuff since the beginning of June so I went crazy. Sadly I have no stop or pause button.

@Bjarnum
Tudor cakes oh my they sound delicious. I know I could have eaten them all. 🐷

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl toast and Nutella is my kind of diet. I so hope you manage to get some rest time soon or you will burn out. Have you tried prodding your DP with a big stick to get him off the sofa 🤣
When you find the spa break I’ll join you, we can travel there on the wagon and spectacularly fall off it.

Well what do you think of this? Because chef neighbour and long term neighbour have been giving me cakes/scones/fish I took them coconut cake and chocolate cup cakes. Long term neighbour’s husband saw me yesterday and told me the chocolate topping on the cakes was too sweet and there was too much of it. My DP who only thinks we’ll of everyone says he was joking! Ha I think it’s very rude.

These are the cakes in a blue container so not a good photo

onemorerose · 17/10/2021 08:36

Can I join? I was 12st 2 last Monday and will weigh in again this Monday. Up until 2 weeks ago I had been doing no exercise, drinking a lot and eating the contents of the cupboard every day. I’ve now started 2 hit sessions a week and not been drinking. The not drinking has definitely improved my munching but well the first week showed less than 1lb off on the scales. I feel like I’m getting nsv with feeling better and clothes looking a teeny bit better, but you do like to see the scales move! I’ve a birthday party today so will be having nice food and cake and trying to stay away from the wine.

Current 12.2
Christmas goal 11
June 2022 goal 9

I’m only small so can’t carry any weight at all. So unfair ☹️

poorpaws · 17/10/2021 17:45

Welcome @onemorerose. You are the weight I started at when this thread began in early June. With a lot of support on here Ive lost just over a stone but am really struggling this week and have eaten A LOT. Tomorrow’s weigh in might make me cry but I’m back on it most definitely, it’s far too easy to give up but I’m not. I hope you enjoy our little group.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 18/10/2021 08:31

So I’ve come here with my head bent to admit my sins this week. I can hardly believe this myself but I have gained 3.75 lbs! It is going to take me weeks to get back to where I was and all because I was trying to be kind and bake for neighbours. I just cannot resist home baking. I resisted on day one and then just couldn’t resist anymore. The wagon is fully stocked with very low calorie food and lots of water and I’m back on it.

SW: 12st. 2.3/4
CW: 11st 4.1/2
Mini goal: 11st (which I won’t meet now)
GW: 10st

I guess it’s once a yo-yo dieter, always a yo-yo dieter.

Although I feel terrible and I am totally ashamed of myself I would normally give up but I’m not I’m going to hang in there and get this weight off no matter how many times I fail on the way.

Good luck to everyone, you are bound to have done better than me so it’s a good day for all of you.

Well paws looks like we have both had a dreadful week. I keep thinking that if only I had stuck to things for the past month when I have been faffing about I'd be a lot lighter. The funny bit is I was not actually hungry - I just had a very strong lemming impulse and away I went. Straight over the cliff.

If your neighbour thinks his remarks were funny he surely needs to stick with the day job. Unnecessary and rude! And the cakes look just right.
Well done for not giving up - I'm joining the wagon, so shift up a bit. I'll bring the lettuce. (Yay!) And well done to everyone else who is still hanging on - the great thing is to NOT give up

Gonnagetgoing · 18/10/2021 11:58

Can I join too? Think I'm just about 11 stone, 5ft 4.5. Would like to lose at least a stone maybe more.

I've dropped my weekly yoga class (lots of reasons) but do do a 20-30 minute brisk walk around the park. Really need to do a daily exercise class.

poorpaws · 18/10/2021 13:24

@Bjarnum so sorry it’s you too. Strangely enough I was thinking the same, just how much I COULD have lost. Never mind, we won’t give up and wow yummy lettuce 🥬

@Gonnagetgoing. Welcome. I do hope you stay with us cos we’ve had a run of people joining for a week and never being seen again.

onemorerose · 18/10/2021 13:26

Paws well done on what you have a achieved so far! That’s amazing!! Don’t beat yourself up about your blip last week, just get back on it, I’m sure we will all have a slip up every so often, we are only human after all.

CreepingDeath · 18/10/2021 15:46

Sorry everyone is having a crap week. I know what you mean about baking poorpaws its my weakness! I used to love baking but I can't go there anymore, because I just eat it all.

I've also gained this week, almost a pound up from last week. However, I totally forgot to weigh in this morning Blush and I've had breakfast and lunch, so that didn't help. Also only managed one crappy workout last week, but did lots more walking so it balanced out a bit.

I think I'm basically at the maintaining stage, because even though I fluctuate between a few pounds - and I'm not at the weight I was aiming for at the start - I'm pretty happy with my body versus the beginning of the summer.
I do want to keep up workouts 2 or 3 times a week if I can and see how I get on, and want to weight in weekly still to ensure I don't gain back the weight.

SW: 151.8 lbs
CW: 142.6 lbs

I hope I stay too! I'm fed up with getting off and on again the weightloss wagon!

poorpaws · 18/10/2021 21:20

@CreepingDeath you have done so well and I think I would count today as a sts or even a loss. I don’t think I’d have even weighed until tomorrow morning when it will be a more even playing field.

@Gonnagetgoing. Our wagon is amazing so stay with us.

@onemorerose glad you’re still with us and I agree we shouldn’t berate ourselves for a blip but I can’t help feeling sad that I gave in to cake again. I have zero willpower when it comes to cake.b

Good news from my weigh in this evening

SW 12.2
CW 11.11
Christmas goal 11
June goal 9

I’m delighted. I’d had a chicken salad for lunch and because my hit class is at dinner time I just nibbled on the kids leftovers. Not really the best idea but I had other stuff to do this evening and no time to make myself something.

onemorerose · 18/10/2021 21:23

Paws try to remember that cake made you sad the next time you are tempted. You aren’t giving cake up forever, you just won’t have any the next time because it makes you sad. But! Stop feeling sad or annoyed about it now, it’s done, onwards and upwards. And I don’t think anyone could bake without sampling their wares, this is why I rarely bake 😂

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 18/10/2021 22:57

I need to join that wagon too @poorpaws, I'd put on 1.5lb this week. I think it was only my high temperature burning off some calories that stopped me putting on before Blush

By the way your cakes look amazing, if your neighbour's DH doesn't want them then I'll have them!!

Our big family party at the weekend went well. I am exhausted but v pleased it's over and done with, it had taken loads of organising! Mind you we now have tons of leftovers, which aren't exactly the healthy option Hmm helpfully the DC's school are encouraging people to bring in non-perishable food for the food bank this week, so I'll send quite a lot that way.

I'm with you on aiming for 2 or 3 workouts per week @CreepingDeath now I'm finally feeling a bit better! It's taken three weeks but I may be ready to work up a sweat soon...!

poorpaws · 19/10/2021 08:41

Very well done @onemorerose it’s such a lovely feeling when we get a good loss.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl jump on the wagon and we’ll lose it next week. Nice to hear you are feeling better. By the way I made a lot of cakes and everyone else (DP, dog walking friend, chef neighbours and me) thought they were delicious. Arse male neighbour sold their house yesterday so he won’t be here much longer.

So in one day I’ve managed to lose 2 lb so it looks as if my giant weight gain wasn’t quite right. I know I did pig out for four days but it certainly wasn’t three and three-quarter pounds worth so I’m much happier now that the gain is smaller and easier to control.

I hope everyone has a good week. It would be nice next Monday if we all had a loss.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 19/10/2021 13:15

Better news then @poorpaws? I would try re-weighing myself but I scoffed some of MIL's shortbread earlier so it's probably not the best idea Confused

Well done on your loss @onemorerose and welcome to our cosy corner of MN, where we discuss cakes, dogs and occasionally weight loss Grin
