Lovely photos @poorpaws!! I would love a doggy friend Smile

What a fab career choice for your DS @Bjarnum, I hope you all have a great day and that the restaurant food is tasty!

Still crazy busy here, I get up early to do tidying/ sorting before the DC get up, get them to childcare, work all day with about a 10 minute break, collect them and then eventually have a small amount of time to myself after the hell of bedtime. Which is usually... about now Confused

Could the wagon bring an extensive selection of low calorie and incredibly tasty ready meals poorpaws? I'm living off toast and jam at the moment...

paws Well, I got through Wednesday and despite yet another impromptu family lunch today I'm still holding the line. Mind you the evening is my kryptonite ... How are you going? @jb7445 whatever gets you through. There will be plenty of time once you hit target to iron out any dietary foibles!

poorpaws · 28/10/2021 19:10

Hey @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. I’m living on beans on toast so I feel your pain. Sorry but you’ll have to bring a packed lunch on the wagon, it’s full of dieters no space for catering staff.

@jb7445 how I wish I didn’t have a sweet tooth, I’d be about 8 sts! I’ve little desire for wine or any alcohol for that matter and apart from crisps I’m not bothered about much that is savoury. Chocolate, sweets, ice cream, ice lollies, any desserts after dinner, I’d eat the lot without pausing (pawsing 🤣).

@Bjarnum. I’m doing ok. I’m getting through the week by doing long dog walks in the morning and baking cakes in the afternoon. I’m baking stuff I don’t like so yesterday lemon and lime drizzle (wet horrid lemony cake) and today a lemon drizzle (again wet and disgusting with an iced lemon sugary topping). I’d like to make scones tomorrow but I love them so daren't.

A sort of NSV today I think. My stomach looks a little flatter (not flat by any stretch of imagination) but just a tiny, tiny bit less rounded. Unless of course it’s all in my mind and I’m imagining it but for now it’s made me a little happier.

I hope everyone is coping well this week.

@jb7445 frozen (or just cold) grapes can also be handy if you have a sweet tooth - I used to like 0% Greek yogurt with fruit and a dusting of cocoa/ chocolate powder when I did SW. The DC's plans for Halloween include mountains of Haribo, but thankfully I don't like those so am not tempted!

Your family lunches sound epic @Bjarnum, although probably not weight-loss friendly, sadly! The Harvester used to be good for plain meat/ fish options and of course the salad bar, but it seemed to be far more expensive last time we went, which is a shame.

Well done on your NSV @poorpaws, it's entering the time of year when I live in warm, comfy and large clothes so who knows when I'll notice anything like that again?! Good thing that wagon doesn't have catering staff actually or I'd only be tempted to ask them to whip me up a jam roly poly or apple crumble Confused

Hope everyone (and their doggies!) is having a good day - rain, rain and more rain here...

Bjarnum · 29/10/2021 12:49

So, off I went to Asda to find a warm jumper. I found one I liked and tried on a 16 too big! Hurrah! On to a 14 - too big. Hmm. Tried the 12 - too big. Starting to get really suspicious. On to the 10 - too big. They were all the same size. Back to reality ..
On the plus side I got through Thursday and everyone is going home today so managing the diet is going to be easier. jb I had forgotten about the sugar free jelly - I must get myself some for when the sweet tooth strikes. Our Halloween doings are over. Mercifully - though like clara I'm immune to the pleasures of Haribo. I think the pups are relieved to see the back of baby - there's only so much tail grabbing they will tolerate! It's pelting with rain here too (Wiltshire) so I'm covering cushions to stop thinking about food (Not working well). paws once we get to the end of this (and we will, we will) I shall be asking for your best cake recipe and having a baking fest. Only 3 days to Monday and hopefully we shall reap the rewards for all our sufferings. Stay focussed people!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 29/10/2021 21:48

Ohhhh what a letdown with the jumpers @Bjarnum!! I bet your dogs are enjoying the peace and quiet now though Smile

Has anyone tried OYG Davina before? I keep getting their adverts through for a countdown to Christmas thing, which sounds interesting, but there's nothing on their website about it! I've done the free trial before and don't want to spend the money on it if it's not going to be useful, but I do like a challenge - I'm one of life's joiners, I do need a repeated kick to stay on the straight and narrow Grin

Speaking of which, here is the Atomic Habits cheat sheet in case anyone finds it useful - I'm putting some thought into how to improve my habits and get back into my exercise routine...!

onemorerose · 30/10/2021 02:39

It’s incredibly hard to get a photo of black dogs but these are my two beauties 😊😊

@Bjarnum. I’ve nothing to report other than I’m still trying hard and staying on track. I don’t know what else I could have done this week, I’ve kept to very low calories (and been hungry all week) and I’ve done plenty of steps. I really hope the scales are kind on Monday.

Your warm jumper episode made me chuckle, what a letdown. I’d feel like buying size 10 and wearing it inside out exposing the size for all to see.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. Omg jam roly-poly and apple crumble, just reading those words and I was salivating. I’m wondering if we’ll ever find that really slim and healthy place where we can eat something lovely (and fattening) because we are thin enough to do it and the extra 4 lbs won’t matter. This is my dream, to be able to eat well and stay slim. It is only a dream though isn’t it, it’s never going to happen.

@jb7445 good luck with staying strong on Saturday, it’s so difficult but the elation you’ll feel when you lose weight on Monday will far outweigh the taste of whatever at the party. Glass of water, glass of wine trick might help you to stay focused and pretending to be full (when you are starving) usually stops hosts from sabotaging your diet, oh and don’t mention the diet, that is a trigger for people to nearly ram the food down your throat.

Only two more days to weigh-in, can we all give that extra push for two days?

poorpaws · 30/10/2021 08:39

@onemorerose. Ooh they are beauties, so fluffy, black dogs are my favourite. I was very shocked 10 years ago when I went to the greyhound trust to rescue mine, there was a sign saying “black dogs are wonderful too”. I asked about it and was told black dogs are the most difficult to re-home. All mine are black and I just love a black dog.

My pretty middle one, 7.1/2 years (she’s suffered 4 unprovoked attacks and is very nervous)

BabyRace · 30/10/2021 09:05

Hi everyone, can I join please?

I've been on and off since May last year. I know what works for me but I lose some and then stop. Staying consistent is so tough and I need some accountability.

SW - 13.2
CW - 12.1
GW - 10.0
Mini goal - 11.10 by 14th Nov

I weigh every day, I like to see the up and down. It helps me to see weight as data and not a personal failing when it goes up a little.

poorpaws · 30/10/2021 09:06

I’ve no idea why the photograph won’t work (I’ve tried different ones) but it won’t send. Sorry.

At last!

Welcome @BabyRace, pleased you decided to join us. We usually weigh in on Monday mornings if that’s good for you. We are very similar, I’ve lost about a stone since the beginning of June but the second stone is so difficult and I struggle a lot.

BabyRace · 30/10/2021 09:35

Happy to join in on a Monday weigh in too. I have a few weddings coming up and I don't want to look awful in pictures.

Bjarnum · 30/10/2021 11:36

Loving the pup pics! rose So black, so fluffy, adorable! And paws that looks like one very attractive alert pup! baby I've a wedding in January - so like you would hope to be a whisker slimmer by then. However, October has not gone well, but paws idea of us checking in every day for this week seems to have kept me on track.clara Once I get back from Dartmouth I'll have a look at the cheat sheet etc - sounds interesting.jb hope you survive the party with your eating plan intact! I'll catch up with you all Monday when I get back - good luck everyone

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 30/10/2021 23:01

More lovely doggy photos!!

Well everyone, I seriously need to do something about my awful diet, apparently my cholesterol is on the high side and I'm starting to wonder if I have gallbladder problems - I've had a pain on the right hand side (top of my ribcage) for weeks now, thought I'd done myself a mischief running or something but it's not really getting better, and is definitely worse after eating something rich. Dr Google has diagnosed it as gallbladder pain Hmm if only I could get an appointment with an actual GP for some advice...

Welcome @BabyRace! Are you following any particular diet/ exercise plan? Hopefully the weddings will prove a good motivator for you and @Bjarnum!

BabyRace · 31/10/2021 15:51

Thank you @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I'm not following anything in particular, just lowering calories to 1500 kcal a day, tracking on my fitness pal. I'm doing a virtual challenge do cycling almost daily and I do need to get back in the gym.

I went out for a roast today which was about 1300 so having a very light dinner, not that I need to eat ever again after that!

poorpaws · 31/10/2021 17:37

@Bjarnum so our week of hell is nearly over and tomorrow we’ll see if it was worth it. How do you think you’ve done? If I haven’t lost 2-3 lbs then it’s not fair because I’ve really worked at it and been super good. My DP is sick of hearing “I’m soooo hungry”, “... so tired”, “... cold”, “... so sick of this bloody diet”. All I’ve done for the entire week is moan. I so hope it has been worth it.

Good luck to all of you and let’s show the new members just how good we are 🤞🏻.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 31/10/2021 21:44

I'll weigh in tomorrow @poorpaws with a lot of trepidation but like you, I like it when the 1st of the month falls on a Monday. That's two of my diet start days combined Grin

I've been thinking about my habits after reading the 'Atomic Habits' book, which made sense in a lot of ways - for example, I found it easy(ish!) to start running because I just did it on the way back from the school run, got it out of the way for the day. Now I don't have that option (I come straight home and start work) it's a lot harder to fit exercise into the day; it's dark in the evenings when I could go out and I don't think I'd feel safe enough. I'm considering doing the 2 week free trial of OYG Davina to see if signing up for an exercise class (even virtually!) makes me turn up and do it...

I like a challenge @BabyRace, hopefully yours will prove motivating!

BabyRace · 31/10/2021 22:14

I've been doing it all year, it's the equivalent distance of Land's End to John O'Groats. I set myself a year to do it, and I have 309km to go.

I'll try to remember to weigh in the morning, got an early alarm set to hit the gym before work. Have a good week everyone.

poorpaws · 01/11/2021 07:49

@Bjarnum so our superhuman week is over (thank goodness) and the results are in.

SW: 12sts 2.3/4
CW: 10st 13.1/4
GW: 10sts

Ta dah! Lost 3.1/2 lbs this week (but it was so, so hard). Not only that but I am finally in the “10s” if I can just stay there.

Good luck to everyone weighing this morning.

Well I've lost 4 lbs! Well done pawsyour idea paid off for both of us and even though the past week has been awful at least we are both firmly strapped into the wagon.
We went to DS passing-out in Dartmouth and it was lovely. However, Dartmouth itself was a shock. You can't park anywhere for the length of time we needed to - and the owner of the place we were staying was absolutely no use at all. So, we booked a space on an app that let us park a mile away. No, problem I can easily do a mile. Turned out it was a mile up a 1:6 hill. My poor old legs. Still that likely accounts for my substantial (for me ) loss this week. So all good. Hope everyone has a happy weigh-in today!
