I would love to join you, I am 5 feet and about 1.5 inches of blubber, and I really do need to do something about it.

I am currently 10st 3 and have been for ages I drop a little and gain a little but don't seem to be able to get below 10 stone anymore. I did the Michael Moseley 800 no carbs in Jan 2019 and it did work and I managed to get to just under 9 stone but the weight crept back on again.

I am pretty healthy in my diet but my approach to eating is not very healthy, in that I rarely eat during the day, just have an evening meal so my body is very used to coping in starvation mode and I am convinced this has messed up my metabolism - or perhaps I am just making excuses to myself !

Anyway, today is a new day and new month and hopefully the start of a new me Smile

Sooverthemill · 01/07/2021 10:27

Hi @EdwinaLIzzard. It's tough isn't it? My guess is eating something during the day would help your body. Good luck. We are a friendly bunch

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 11:39

@WellTidy I couldn't bring myself to watch My 600lb life, I was feeling a bit low emotional yesterday and thought it might send me over the edge. Although if you have any decluttering shows you'd recommend send them my way. The Marie Kondo episodes on netflix were too short and too few for my liking!

@Sooverthemill My first thought this morning was "ooh, I want a cappuccino". If I recall correctly, you are gluten intolerant as well? I have IBD and although I'm not coeliac, I know a lot of IBD patients avoid gluten and I do think it's something I should consider.

Has anyone watched Mare of Eastown? I started it last night and it really wasn't the show to start at 8pm, but I am enjoying it. I may watch another episode this afternoon. I'm feeling low today and will do my best to not comfort eat my feelings with carbs.

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 11:40

@EdwinaLIzzard Sorry I didn't realise there was another page on this thread until I posted. Welcome! What do you like to eat/ or are eating currently? Are you open to eating 2 meals a day?

WellTidy · 01/07/2021 12:07

My 600lb Life isn’t one to watch if you’re feeling low. The people who go on the programme have no other options and their relationships with their family members often are really unhealthy. And their quality of life is awful. It’s really sad.

The programme that Jasmine Harman did for the bbc called My Hoarder Mum and Me is excellent. I think I watched it on YouTube.

Mare of Eastown and The Handmaids Tale are on my must watch list. And Motherland. I’m out of the loop on tv programmes right now. I think I do most of my tv watching in the winter!

I am up by 0.75lb this morning despite daily walking. It’s a blip, I know, but I want to keep it under control so I’m sticking to lunch and dinner only today, and I’ve had an oat latte for breakfast.

WellTidy · 01/07/2021 12:11

@EdwinaLIzzard welcome. I am 5 foot 1 and started the year at my heaviest weight whilst not pregnant, 10st 13.5lb. I wasn’t carrying it well on my small frame at all. I got down to 9st 3.5lb in May but fell off the wagon and am now 9st 8.25lb. When I’m on it, I count calories and walk, aiming to do about 25 miles a week. I don’t cut out anything, and if I want something I will have it, but try to pull back in a different way. I don’t always succeed! If I don’t eat regularly, I always find that I plough through carbs and eat way more in calories than I would have otherwise.

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 12:29

@WellTidy I think that's what's put me off watching that show before, I find it so sad. Is it gym day for you today? You'll have to let us know how you get on.

You've absolutely got this and you'll be back down to 9st3 with the proper focus.

EdwinaLIzzard · 01/07/2021 14:03

Thank you for the lovely welcome 😊
There are so many reassuring posts here, I am determined to make progress this time and have even ordered new batteries for the bathroom scales!
I don't eat meat but do have lots of fish, I try very hard to limit carbs and have pasta / rice / potatoes maybe once per week, I eat lots of salad and veg and pulses, beans etc but I do also add sauces, Mayo etc which I know is calorie ridden. I also eat large portions which really doesn't help, I need to use a smaller plate or bowl to trick my mind into thinking it has eaten more.
I used to be able to lose weight quite easily but now I am edging towards 60 it is harder, but obviously not impossible.
Since working from home, which I do love, I don't move around as much, so I know I need to up the step count and try to hit my 10,000.
So I guess I know what I need to do and am really happy to join you x

Knittingnanny · 01/07/2021 14:28

@EdwinaLIzzard hi there, I’m a few years older than you and equally determined to stay under 9 st mainly for the sale of my knees!
Buy yourself a fancy “ salad” plate , I eat my dinners on that size now
My downfall is a foodie, gym boy, curry loving, slim trim chocolate eating husband!

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 17:22

@Knittingnanny what size is your salad plate?

For the new posters, some of us use Friday as our weigh in day, so join us tomorrow morning for weigh in if you'd like! I have to say weighing in on a Friday is much better than a Monday, if you've gone off-plan over the weekend, you still have a few days to get back on it Smile

I am hoping to still be under 10st tomorrow, saw 9st12 on the scales this morning so hoping it'll stick for tomorrow.

BlodwinTheThird · 01/07/2021 17:56

I’m weighing in a day early as have a massive headache and need carbs! 9.12.6 so a pound up from last week but pleased with that as was previously showing 4.4lbs up on Tuesday after my long weekend with friends. So fast on, fairly fast off - could have been time of the month related too. Good luck for everyone weighing in tomorrow 👍

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 18:02

@BlodwinTheThird yay to staying under 10st!!

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 18:03

@BlodwinTheThird oh and I hope you feel better soon x

EdwinaLIzzard · 01/07/2021 19:17

I like the idea of the Friday morning weigh in, especially as the new battery for my bathroom scales has just arrived !

I would also love to know more about the salad plate

Here's to a new start Smile

Knittingnanny · 01/07/2021 19:54

It’s the size in between a dinner plate and a tea/side plate. It’s part of my 1980’s dinner set bought before I got married. Horrid husband no 1 long gone but dinner service still going strong! I find it easier to gauge the calories if I use the same size plate and don’t need to keep weighing stuff.

Knittingnanny · 01/07/2021 19:57

Dinner plate 101/2” salad plate 81/2”

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 20:02

Thanks knitting

When I first joined this thread in Jan, l did buy a plate thinking 8in was fine but it looked so small when it arrived. My usual dinner plate isn't too bad as it has quite a wide rim/lip so I just stick to the inside part when filling with food.

Morningmaeve · 01/07/2021 20:03

Welcome @EdwinaLIzzard - I’m 55 and I absolutely agree that it is so much harder to lose the weight now compared to when I was younger… unfortunately!

Knittingnanny · 01/07/2021 20:07

I can still get quite a few oven chips on it!

purplegirl13 · 01/07/2021 20:12

@Knittingnanny

I can still get quite a few oven chips on it!
Piled high like jenga?Wink
Knittingnanny · 01/07/2021 20:32

Yes!

Morningmaeve · 02/07/2021 08:41

Popping on here to report that I have nothing to report as am exactly same weight as last week and the week before and the week before… you get the idea! Have decided to do a mostly Dry July to see if I can break the plateau. Hope you all doing good. For the record: 9 stone 0.4lb.

purplegirl13 · 02/07/2021 10:43

@Morningmaeve staying dry should hopefully get you under that magic number!

I am not sure how but I am 9st11.2, down 0.4lb from last week. I'll absolutely take that. I need to lose 2.4lbs to get to my first stone lost so hopefully that'll keep me going.

I am waiting for phone to charge up so I can go out and do a C25K session, it's been 4 weeks since my last 'run'.

Today's plan:
L - baked beans on rye toast with a fried egg
S - Greek yogurt with raspberries and blueberries
D - veggie bolognese with butternut squash 'noodles'

Good luck to everyone weighing in today

Knittingnanny · 02/07/2021 11:02

Me too, nothing to report just staying the same 8 st10 ( ish)

EdwinaLIzzard · 02/07/2021 12:58

Well done to everyone on the weight loss or maintaining the same, it is all positive.

I did my first 'official' weigh in this morning and am exactly 10 stone 3, so I have added this to my app and this will be the start of the downward journey.

Longish dog walk completed and I currently have a skip, so am running backwards and forwards as I clear out the garage and shed, so as I sit down to a cup of tea, I have just cleared 10,000 steps.
