@Morningmaeve, you are very good recording the ups as well, I’m afraid I ignore those and skip the recording!I haven’t got that app but just use the nhs one to record my weight

Knittingnanny · 29/06/2021 17:16

Here it is

Knittingnanny · 29/06/2021 17:17

Nice graph @Knittingnanny Smile

StripedSalamander · 29/06/2021 20:07

Hello. Can I join in?

I’m 5ft 1, currently 11st 2 and managing to squeeze into size 10 clothes if I don’t breathe.

I’d like to be closer to 9/9 and a half stone, and have started to calorie count but find it all really bloody hard and like the only way I’ll lose weight is not to eat.

Sooverthemill · 29/06/2021 20:57

@StripedSalamander not eating would work but be a bit awful.

StripedSalamander · 29/06/2021 21:07

It would be dire Sad

Are you all using the TDEE calculators? Mine reckons I need to be eating 12-300 calories per day to be in a deficit which feels like nothing! So confusing!

Sooverthemill · 30/06/2021 07:15

My maintenance TDEe is 1447. So I vaguely go for 1200 but I don't actually count. Sometimes I record in my fitness pal but because of DD's illness I know the calorific value of pretty much all the foods I'm likely to eat ( she has difficulty eating and has been tube fed)

WellTidy · 30/06/2021 08:00

I can only say what works for me - When I’m properly ‘on it’ I record everything I eat using my fitness pal, and I aim for around 1200 calories. If I walk, I don’t include those calories I burn in my calorie allowance. It is hard, but I accept that this os what I need to do to have even a modest weight loss (I am happy with a pound a week these days).

StripedSalamander · 30/06/2021 08:40

I really struggle with 1200, I’m a carb person which just seems to burn through them.

Sooverthemill · 30/06/2021 09:00

@StripedSalamander yup those carbs are tricky! I think I am reasonably low carb. I'm gluten intolerant which helps but I watch my portion sizes of brown rice ( which I love) and only have a small potato ever.

purplegirl13 · 30/06/2021 11:24

I'm struggling to get into the zone. However, let's keep on trying...

@WellTidy how exciting about the gym - I'm always so overwhelmed by the machines but find a intro session with someone who works there helpful, they can take you around and show you how all the machines work. I imagine your DH will do the same Smile. Also, I used to love a good aqua aerobics session. Looks like you are on a roll!

@Morningmaeve I can imagine it's also much harder to motivate yourself knowing you're in the healthy bmi range. You have done so well to get to where you are now!

@StripedSalamander carbs can be highly calorific and especially if you're like me and need a huge bowl of pasta to feel satisfied. I limit pasta/bread to once a week, try to eat potatoes and rice more. A lot of us on here do IF, I have always done naturally as can never eat first thing. One thing I would say is that for us, this really is a looong old journey. It's taken me 16/17 weeks to lose 11lbs (and that's with me mostly being 'on it') and I've put on after a weekend away.
I couldn't stick to 1200 at the start so upped to 1350 and was losing on that, so try upping your calories?

Loving the graphs!

Would you believe I'm still getting over the damage those antibiotics did to my gut?! Thankfully not a full blown flare up, but not quite 100% yet.

StripedSalamander · 30/06/2021 11:47

I love food which really doesn’t help, but cutting out snacking and trying to be sensible at meal times is eeking the pounds off slowly - I’m off work next week so expecting to pile them back in, but at least I’ll be adding some lost pounds back on!

Zoomoff · 30/06/2021 12:26

Haven't been on here for a while. I started a new job a month ago which was supposed to be just one day a week but I've ended up doing covid cover and doing a few extra half days a week so lots of prep work as I haven't got any plans to fall back on for emergency cover. I haven't been particularly good with food or walking but have maintained my weight. I've been watching old supersize v superskinny on prime and noticed that a lot of days my diet is similar to the superskinnies, so probably explains why I'm not putting on weight.

Well done to everyone losing or maintaining.

purplegirl13 · 30/06/2021 12:33

@Zoomoff well done for maintaining! I like watching Secret Eaters on prime

Zoomoff · 30/06/2021 12:50

@purplegirl13 Secret Eaters drove me mad. How can you not know every time you stuff your face with biscuits or pasta or giant breakfast baguettes???

WellTidy · 30/06/2021 13:21

I love Secret Eaters! It’s a real guilty pleasure. I like Anna presenting it too.

purplegirl13 · 30/06/2021 13:48

There was one episode where the guy was making 'healthy' smoothies and they were about 900kcals. Let's not forget about the woman with her 'healthy' chicken salads (where she then added half a tub of mayo)

@WellTidy I have just had oat milk for the first time. I love it! I don't drink milk, have never liked the taste so would only have it in a coffee but never on it's own/in cereal etc. I bought the barista type for the milk frother and have now just downed a very sugary cappuccino.

purplegirl13 · 30/06/2021 13:52

@WellTidy all I was missing was an almond croissant....

WellTidy · 30/06/2021 13:59

@purplegirl13 or the guy who had three takeaways in less than 24 hours!

I have also wasted far too much time watching My 600lb Life (US programme) and then googling to find out what happened to the people who take part after the programme ends. They aren’t all happy endings.

I also used to like hoarding programmes (I’m obviously on a roll now!). There was one US one that I can’t find anywhere anymore that featured a lady who hoarded Tupperware like you wouldn’t believe. The stories are very sad though, and rarely address the underlying huge mental health issues that cause the problems and mean that the problems don’t go away, and the hoarding problems restart.

Anyway!! I’m glad you like to oat milk! I only drink skimmed or oat milk. I have an oat latte at the side of me as I type as it is so cold today. No almond croissant though. I’m weaning myself off. It’s a challenge!

purplegirl13 · 30/06/2021 14:08

@WellTidy I stopped myself from buying cheesecake at the shops, will save it until the weekend.

I never really watched the hoarding shows, too close to home. My mum wasn't toooo bad but I couldn't open the tupperware cupboard without a least 3 containers falling out and finding a matching tub and lid was near impossible! I might check out My 600lb life.

WellTidy · 30/06/2021 14:26

@purplegirl13 My 600lb Life is one of those programmes you can lose hours to. I think I watched them on YouTube. A complete waste of time but I couldn’t seem to stop!

I am ploughing through Louis Theroux on iPlayer at the moment. Not this week and next though, as it is tennis 24/7 here.

Starbucks used to do a fantastic blueberry cheesecake about ten years ago. I loved it.

Sooverthemill · 30/06/2021 19:57

@purplegirl13 I love oat milk! I'm lactose intolerant ( since last year) and I use it in my fancy coffee machine for my daily cappuccino. For granola I use lactose free yoghurt as I didn't like oat yoghurt
