I am yo-yo-img and have lost and gained the same half a pound over the last week. Up half a pound today to 9st 12.75lb, but I have walked five miles today so I’m hoping that will keep another gain at bay.

I am making a Kerala prawn curry for dinner quite flatbreads so will have to be careful of portion size. It has a whole can of coconut milk in it. DH and DS1 eat plenty though, so none will go to waste.

I have also saved my knickers for our next holiday in May. Six pairs put to one side!! I do masses of all sorts of recycling (and lately much more reducing and reusing) at home so I am not going to berate myself over six pairs of knickers left in a bathroom bin in our hotel room Smile

MotherOfWhippets · 07/02/2022 16:31

@Knittingnanny2 I have recently made a come back after a similar break. I posted about having my pony pts (which was heartbreaking) due to a behavioural problems and him being too dangerous to risk passing on to another owner. I was basically called a murderer and scum of the earth. I've been reading but haven't posted anything for about 3 years because of it.

Knittingnanny2 · 07/02/2022 17:47

Ah that’s sad, yes parts of mumsnet are so scary . Not this lovely thread though. No one had told me to LTB, due to mr Knittingnannys annoyingly slow consumption of the Christmas chocolates! !

neverenoughchelseboots · 08/02/2022 00:27

Interesting last few comments. I've 'given up' mumsnet apart from this thread (and one that I've watched for almost a year where someone was accused of posting on someone's LinkedIn and disciplined but there're still to be told what post it relates to!)

My screen time is around 4 hours a day and I've vowed to half it. Last week was easy as I was on holiday but already scuppered by a Google maps route from the airport yesterday. I wish I could exclude it from the total - I know you ladies understand the love for stats!

Going to weigh tomorrow, I think I may have lost a tiny amount despite being away (famous last words) because portion sizes are smaller than I would have at home.

Morningmaeve · 08/02/2022 08:01

I've been away for the weekend and done all the eating... plus some wine (only one bottle over weekend though as per my new 'rules'. Am also out on Thursday so I fear this week may be a write off... I rarely post anywhere else in Mumsnet - lurk instead! - but I've seen some vicious stuff written though to be fair I've seen some very supportive threads too.

WellTidy · 08/02/2022 09:11

I steer clear of AIBU having got too drawn in in the past. I like the style &beauty board (not being remotely stylish or beautiful, but it is really interesting to me, and also keeps me motivated thinking that when I lose more weight I might be able to be more current in my style), there is a Housekeeping decluttering type thread that helps keep me accountable too, I enjoy the tennis thread in Telly Addicts for big matches, and I have found the Food, and the Property boards really helpful in the past. Someone recommended me a recipe book on the Food board that I bought a few weeks ago and have made four recipes out of. That is a record, I usually buy recipe books and only look at them or make just one recipe and they never see the light of day again.

Obviously you’re my favourites (Bruce Forsyth style) on this thread though Smile

I am still yo-yo-ing with this half a pound. I’ve dropped it again today, so I’m walking for two hours this morning to try and go below 9st 12.25lb. I’m having my Pret coffee half way and typing at the same time.

Have good days, everyone Smile

neverenoughchelseboots · 08/02/2022 09:50

Well I lost almost 3lb on holiday! I must eat a lot of biscuits at home 😂

2022 start weight - 10st 5.1
Today - 9st 11.7
Target 9st by holiday in early May.
(I think I might have said 9.5stone by then previously but feeling optimistic based on current losses)

Knittingnanny2 · 08/02/2022 10:12

I was brave enough to weigh for the first time since November and knew I’d gone up a bit. Was pleasantly surprised that I was still just under 9 st , 8 st 13 so just want to get back to 8 10 or 9 if possible and restart maintaining!
Aiming for that in next 5 weeks when we go to Singapore. 4 days in Suffolk in 3 weeks but hope to do lots of walking.
However I’m already thing about Shrove Tuesday......... I’m not admitting how many pancakes I can eat. Of course Mr knittingnanny can stop at 2.

Knittingnanny2 · 08/02/2022 10:13

Well done @neverenoughchelseaboots hats very impressive

purplegirl13 · 08/02/2022 10:47

@Knittingnanny2 dare I ask how many nuts you had yesterday and whether they were portioned out?? Good to hear you are still under 9st.

@neverenoughchelseaboots how are you counting screen time? I definitely wouldn't count using maps as that's purely functional. Are you also including tv time? In Dec I started leaving my mobile phone in the living room before bed, and it massively helped mindless scrolling or getting distracted by messages. Must go back to that.
I can't believe you LOST weight on holiday!

@Morningmaeve I'm impressed you stuck to one bottle.

@WellTidy you're doing well with the walking, it's looking glum here and I'm cold so I'm staying indoors.

@SwimmingOnEggshells @Sooverthemill how are you getting on
@MotherOfWhippets oh that is sad, stay with us - we're a nice bunch of people.

Today:
B - greek yogurt with banana/flaxseed
L - leftover soup from yesterday . It was very nice so I highly recommend
D - tbc, I've got cooked rice, and spinach to use up. Thinking of having fried egg with it, and stir frying the spinach with garlic.

There's not enough protein today so will likely have edamame as a snack

Knittingnanny2 · 08/02/2022 10:55

@purplegirl13 I’ve weighed out 100 calories in mini pots. About 10, very few! But that’s not even pistachio nuts, just monkey nuts as I was horrified to read pistachios have over 600 calories in 100grams!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 08/02/2022 11:12

Hi everyone, I went awol because my diet was a train wreck on the weekend. Bit night out on Saturday with all the works put me at 3500 cals 😮

Agree about people being just horrible on Mumsnet sometimes, there's no way they'd be like that in person. And you're right @Knittingnanny2 phonics isn't the only way kids learn to read, sure they didn't exist when I was a child! And for dyslexic kids phonics can be very confusing because we have so many sight words, we call them tricky words here.

purplegirl13 · 08/02/2022 14:47

@SwimmingOnEggshells I hope it was a good night out! Sound like it must have been.

For transparency, I've just eaten 90g of nuts so with my planned dinner, I'll be ending the day 1500 calories consumed

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/02/2022 10:05

@purplegirl13 it was a great night out, last hurrah for a while I think.

WellTidy · 09/02/2022 10:22

Sounds great swimming, a great night out is so good for the soul. We have a wedding celebration to attend in late February and I am looking forward to a few drinks. Alcohol isn’t a great temptation for me, not that I don’t enjoy it, but sugar and pastries are something else entirely.

I agree with the nuts thing - they are also a huge temptation for me. I had half a handful (it really was!) of honey cashews at the weekend and worked out that they were 230 cals. They were great, but I could easily have eaten double without thinking about it.

Great maintenance there knitting, you’re doing brilliantly.

I think we are on similar paths never, but I absolutely have not lost 3lb on holiday ever!! I have finally stopped yo-yo-ing and am half a pound down, to 9st 11.75lb. Yes! I ended up walking for three hours yesterday, which seems to have done the trick. Not sustainable as an everyday thing, but I am going to do an hour and a half today and hope for the best.

A pound a week off would put me in high 8stones for our week in the sun in May. It’s been maybe five years, possibly more, since I was last in the 8s and it is still such a motivator, even though I’m now more than half a stone down since the start of the year. A long way to go, but I’m sticking on the right path.

Morningmaeve · 09/02/2022 13:12

Keep going @WellTidy - I hadn't got under 9 stone for YEARS. Possibly decades!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/02/2022 13:29

@WellTidy that's brilliant! it's so nice to see a new low like that! great to see your discipline and walking paying off

Knittingnanny2 · 09/02/2022 13:55

The magic under 9 for me was pre 1991! Birth of son no 3!
I’m so determined at the moment. I’ve bought a couple of eBay maxi dresses for Singapore in a size 10. I know they used to be 14’s in the 60’s and 70’s though, but I don’t care!
Off to knitting group now but will have tea with no cake...... maybe

SwimmingOnEggshells · 10/02/2022 12:46

Daily weigher here and just posting to say I weighed 8'9 this morning. Slowly losing the 5lbs I put on at christmas.

Mywifenow · 10/02/2022 13:46

Hello again

This is a lovely friendly thread and I agree that some others, not so much…

Well done for all losses. Do we have an official weigh day?

Yesterday
L: salad, tuna, boiled egg and HM LF coleslaw
D: Turkey stew, mashed swede, kale
S: smoked salmon on 2x melba thin and go ahead biscuit

Today
L: courgetti with bacon and vegs, added flour and splash of milk for creamy sauce. Was lovely
D: Turkey and veg curry. Poppadom, salad and possibly flat bread.

It’s difficult to calorie guess the stuff I’ve bulk made and frozen but I cook healthily so not going to worry too much.

I had a peshwari naan frozen, it was tiny and was 400 calories! The birds enjoyed it and I’m going to experiment this afternoon with my various flours and make a low cal flat bread.

I’m generally coming in at just under 1000 cals which allows me some weekend leeway

SwimmingOnEggshells · 10/02/2022 15:14

@Mywifenow your meals are so balanced, lovely variety.

I weigh on Fridays as my official weigh day and I know a few others do too. Although if I don't like what I see I sometimes don't record it 😂

Knittingnanny2 · 10/02/2022 15:20

Sat in the car at the beach watching unhelpful mr knittingnanny eat a slice of cake! He thinks he is being helpful though as he did buy coffee and walnut which I hate. I’m eating my mini pot of 100 calories nuts

WellTidy · 10/02/2022 16:29

I am down another half a pound to 9st 11.25lb today. I walked for 2 hours in total yesterday, but have only managed an hour and a half today. Better than nothing though.

Ds and I are going to Five Guys for dinner. I’ve planned what I’m eating there and it comes in at 710 cals. I’ve had 450 cals so far so hopefully it won’t do too much damage.

Morningmaeve · 10/02/2022 18:37

I weigh on a Friday but I've taken the precaution of weighing today as I'm out tonight and it will involve pasta, pudding and wine. Smile if I don't like tomorrow's weight you'll get today's!

purplegirl13 · 10/02/2022 19:14

I've fallen off the thread lately.

Socialising with friends is absolutely winning over mindful eating over here. I'm feeding my soul AND body!
I fully expect to have gained whatever I'd lost from the start of the year. Wine for the last 2 nights and I'm out for dinner and wine tomorrow. I'm going to watch Katherine Ryan live tomorrow which should be a fun night out!

Wishing you all a lovely few days, and I'll be back early next week x
