Second time posting my food diary, thanks to @Knittingnanny2 for the inspiration to write everything down.

Shorties trying to lose weight - pt 3
MotherOfWhippets · 04/02/2022 13:08

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Weighed in this morning. Bit disappointing I'm still 10.7 but at least I haven't put on and I'm in a much better frame of mind. Haven't been to the gym this week but busy walking with the new puppy and looking after a poorly pony! Have given up on WW - I coudn't cope with the new points system so I've downloaded a calorie tracker. It suggests 1200 a day for me.

Mywifenow · 04/02/2022 16:15

Hello, I’d love to join you if I may?
5ft 0 and 10st 8.5lbs currently at 41yrs never been slim and enough Is enough. My TDEE is 1000. My food isn’t too bad but I drink too much at weekends, I don’t want to stop this but will reduce it and make better choices.

I don’t eat breakfast.

L: soup*
D: smoked haddock (huge piece) with mashed swede, lots of greens and HM parsley sauce.
S: mini green n blacks choc, gallons of tea.

Soup today was delish. I cooked peeled courgettes, onion, garlic and leek in stock then blended to make a “creamy” base. Then simmered lots of small chopped veg in the cream. MFP said 100 cals a bowl. Was really good.

Need to up my steps too so will have a walk this evening. I’m in holiday in 8 weeks and want to be in the 9s.

Looking forward to joining in with you all and thanks for the inspiration 🙂

Mywifenow · 04/02/2022 16:21

P.s I’m intrigued by holiday knickers 🤔

Knittingnanny2 · 04/02/2022 17:28

@Mywifenow I’ll tell you about holiday knickers! When my boys were little way back in the 80’s and 90’s, whenever I bought them new sets of pants I kept the old set for the next holiday and threw them away after wearing. Saved on the dreaded holiday washing when I got home! I now do the same, whenever I buy new knickers I keep the older pairs, wear and ( wrap up) throw away on holiday.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/02/2022 17:56

Hello @Mywifenow, I'm also 5'0, aged 40 and any calorie counter always gives me the same cals per day - 1200. I just don't know, I'm really not convinced I need to eat that few calories to lose. If I eat too little I nearly always binge! So 1000 is way too few in my opinion. I'm pretty sure I lose at 1400. There's another video from Jordan syatt on calories per day and he has a really useful way of figuring out how much you should eat to lose. I'll see if I can find it later.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/02/2022 17:56

Oh and welcome by the way! @Mywifenow

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/02/2022 17:59

Whats wrong with your pony @MotherOfWhippets? Sounds like you're back in the mindset which is great.

How are you @purplegirl13 you've been quiet lately. I hope you're doing ok x

Pizza plan has changed here and we're having steak. Also calorific but at least it's not pure stodge. Going to have wine too, I feel like I deserve it. According to my EKG I use for my spin class it said I burned 525 calories today! Prob take that with a pinch of salt but even 300 burned would be great.

purplegirl13 · 04/02/2022 18:46

@SwimmingOnEggshells thanks for checking in on me. Work has been really busy all week after a few days off sick last week. I've had an upset tummy today and feeling very bloated/ crampy. Hoping it's a one-off and not the start of an IBD flare up.

I'll be back over the weekend to catch up on posts. Hope you're all doing ok x

purplegirl13 · 04/02/2022 18:49

P.s all the pizza chat meant I had pizza for dinner this evening

Morningmaeve · 04/02/2022 19:14

Welcome @Mywifenow I'm drinking less tea now as I like it with milk and the calories were adding up as I love tea! I drink more herbal tea now and try to limit myself to 3 regular teas with milk a day - could that make a difference for you? Sadly every calorie counts when you are as short as we are - I'm 5ft 2in/age 56 - and don't want to give up weekend drinking either

Mywifenow · 04/02/2022 19:27

@Knittingnanny2 Thanks for explaining holiday knickers! Good idea, I travel light and could do with a clear out so will use this!

Thanks for the welcome

@SwimmingOnEggshells - you’re probably right. I’ve never tracked alcohol (or mishaps/binges) so need to address this. I feel like the fewer calories I eat is the only way I can lose weight but even then with the boozing it’s probably not less than 1200 overall. I’ll track everything I consume!

Thanks also for the welcome. My dinner was delicious and I’m stuffed. I’ve decided not to drink this evening which is very rare. Im going to walk to Aldi for some of their go ahead apple biscuit things. I really like them and they’re pretty low calorie plus extra steps.
It’s probably starting to come over that I’m obsessed with food Blush

Mywifenow · 04/02/2022 19:35

@Morningmaeve, thanks for the welcome

Excellent point! MFP says tea with milk could be 45 calories, I have a lot of coffee also. I don’t ever consider these calories, it could be a 100s Blush.
Thank you, I don’t love herbals but so have lots so I can vary it, I do t actually mind water either. Thanks for making me think of this.
It’s no wonder I’m bordering on obese!

Mywifenow · 04/02/2022 19:42

Oops was 45 for 3 cups! Phew! Still though, I’ll
Definitely stop guzzling it.

neverenoughchelseboots · 04/02/2022 21:35

Welcome @Mywifenow @MotherOfWhippets

I'm the same Swimming, 1400 is ideal for me to see slow and steady losses I think. I'd naturally eat around 1,800 on a normal day if just left to my natural appetite. I eat big portions I've realised but seem to mostly get away with it, relatively speaking.

I definitely can't run on 1000 calories. Today I didn't have enough breakfast and by 11am I was in a real state. Sweating and unable to function properly. So I had to eat all DD snacks until I found a supermarket. I'd like to blame breastfeeding but I've always been the same.

DH despairs at my poor food management. He sees food as fuel and eats absolutely loads but is slim and has more energy than anyone I've ever met. He just seems to get it right by instinct.

MotherOfWhippets · 05/02/2022 08:19

Thanks @Swimming - pony has laminitis and has has since before Christmas. It's something they normally get in Spring but he likes to be contrary and get it in the winter 🙄 the daily looking after him is great for my steps and exercise though 😂

SwimmingOnEggshells · 05/02/2022 08:24

My husband is exactly the same @neverenoughchelseboots ! He's never been overweight but it's because he generally just eats three meals a day. He likes chocolate and ice cream but he never binges on it.

I was only saying to him the other day that his attitude to food helps keep me on track, I know if he was the same as me I'd see it as a green light to eat more!

Sooverthemill · 05/02/2022 08:36

Hi everyone. Am having a really tricky time with very poorly DD and it's totally knocked me for six. Have been eating sh*t this week as a consequence and we are surviving on ready meals. So that means my intolerances have kicked off ( and yes I know I'm an idiot to do it) and now I feel even worse. Going to eat properly from Monday. My weakness is savoury foods, don't like chocolate much and I don't like wine either!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 05/02/2022 08:44

I know I've been posting virtuous food diaries lately, so for full disclosure here's what I had yesterday:

Breakfast: oats and full fat yoghurt, large bowl, weighed: 500
Lunch: 2 scrambled eggs: 200
Dinner: steak, chips and pepper sauce: 1100
3/4s a bottle of wine, handful of tortilla chips: 600

2400 calories, possibly more?

But I did a spin class and at least I didn't drink the wine with a sharing bag of crisps beside me.

Tonight I'm out for dinner and drinks which will be another calorie blow out, eeek

Morningmaeve · 05/02/2022 10:27

I had a bit of a blow-out last night too but I figure I've been mostly on track all week so I am okayish with that. I find looking at the week overall helps me not get too disheartened if I have a less successful day. Sorry your week has been so stressful - hope things get a bit better for you and your DD soon @Sooverthemill

WellTidy · 05/02/2022 12:26

Morning all. A blow out here yesterday too. Yesterday will be referred to as the Day Of The Three Crème Eggs. I reined it in before dinner time though, and came out at 1300 calls overall.

But I’m very aware that my rating, if left untracked, is disordered and I definitely don’t have the same as others DHs who eat simply instinctively.

Somehow, I am half a pound down today and am now 9st 12.25lb, which is a 6.75lb loss since the start of the year. I think I will pay for all that sugar later in the week though.

Ds and I are going out for crepes later after his second Covid vaccine, so I will forego lunch.

swimming your daily diary reminds me of my mum and her daily WW diary when I was a child. Except that she used to count in points and not in calories. WW really worked for her (this is 35 odd years ago that she was doing it) when she did it to lose weight, but she never maintained for long. I prefer MFP for now, but I am very old school pen and notebook for pretty much everything else.

Mywifenow · 05/02/2022 13:32

@Sooverthemill
I’m sorry you’re having a tough time and I hope your DD is ok.

My husband is the same and he definitely keeps me on track. He’s super fit and has a will of steel.

We walked 6 miles this morning

Lunch was a tiny piece of HM leftover turkey pie and lots of veg and gravy after the walk and dinner is a small rib steak with onions mushrooms spinach and tomatoes and we’re going to share a small sweet potato made into skinny fries. I’ll try my best to guesstimate it in MFP. There will also be g and t’s this evening so it’s not going to be a great day. Better than normal though and I love my cosy weekends with DH so would rather be super strict through the week.

10st 6.5 this morning so I appear to have somehow lost 1.75lbs already this week.

purplegirl13 · 07/02/2022 10:11

Welcome to the new joiners!

Too many posts to catch up so I'll start afresh now.

How did you all get on over the weekend? I know it's when a few of us are more relaxed in our eating.

I went to Cambridge on Saturday and stayed overnight, lots of crisps, far too much prosecco and wine but was great to catch up with friends.

I'm only home for a couple of days before going to stay with friends for a few days so have limited supplies in the fridge

Today:
B - greek yogurt and banana
L - am trying this soup for the first time www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/sainsburys-limited-edition-masala-spiced-cauliflower-soup-taste-the-difference-600g
D - vietnamese tofu curry (from the freezer) and rice

What's everyone else eating today?

Knittingnanny2 · 07/02/2022 11:46

I’ve had overnight oats late this morning. Home made veg lasagne part 2 for tea tonight. Nuts snack mid afternoon

Knittingnanny2 · 07/02/2022 11:55

Re holiday knickers! A few years I added it to a “ holiday tips “ thread - bad move, I was condemned as contributing to landfill in every country I visited! Some posters were so incredibly rude that I left mumsnet for a few years! And after daring to post on a phonics thread politely adding from my experience that some children learn to readin a variety ways not just phonetically. Apparently I was a disgrace to the teaching profession and can’t have had much experience or decent training.
Thank goodness we are all normal kind supportive women on this thread!
