@WellTidy you are really clocking up the miles. How long does it take to walk 8 miles?

WellTidy · 01/02/2022 14:09

swimming it takes me longer than it would take others, I suspect! I walk at a bit less than four miles an hour. So 8 miles has taken me 2 hours 15 minutes. I didn’t do it all in one go - I did 3.5 miles (walked the the hairdressers) and 5.5 miles back afterwards going the long was and via Pret for a Diet Coke. My legs are tired now though. and my hair doesn’t look the same as it did when I left the hairdressers either!

WellTidy · 02/02/2022 12:55

Yesterday’s walk has produced results - I am 0.75lb down. I am a daily weighed which works for me, on the whole!

I’m making the most of my opportunities to walk in the early part of the week (harder to find time at the weekend) and I’ve done 5.5 miles today. My legs are definitely feeling it.

Morningmaeve · 02/02/2022 13:51

Nice work @WellTidy - I won't weigh until Friday but I'm expecting to be around the same. If I'm under 9 stone I'll be happy

SwimmingOnEggshells · 02/02/2022 17:02

So my recipe diary arrived. It's very pretty so it will hopefully motivate to stay accountable.

Today I've had
Coffee
Porridge oats and yoghurt
Caesar salad - going to stop eating this and go back to egg and toast.
Mini bag of buttons

Dinner is sweet potato and Piri pork chicken

No losses for me yet but I've very sore quads from lunges so I think I'm retaining water. I hope that's what it is anyway!

Knittingnanny2 · 02/02/2022 17:29

Day 1 of my SSS diet went well yesterday, overnight oats, no snacks, small homemade veg lasagne, low fat yog.
Today, overnight oats, no snacks and it will be baked cod with med veg and a yog for tea
. Then off to choir and will try not to have a snack when I get home.

MotherOfWhippets · 02/02/2022 19:14

Can I join in please?

I've been lurking for a while but have just set up a new account.

Thoroughly peed off with myself. I'm 5'1. At my heaviest after a couple of years of serious illness I was 11st10. Joined the gym and started calorie counting and got down to 9st10 which although on the heavy side I look ok at really (I have big boobs and a curvy figure) but I'm back up to 10st7 again after having covid over Christmas. Need a kick up the arse. Aiming for 9st6 really. Saw a photo today - I look massive again 😩 it is difficult as I'm on steroids but I've managed to do it before.

Sorry bit of a starting rant there.

Sooverthemill · 02/02/2022 20:28

@MotherOfWhippets welcome! Being ill makes it so hard. I went up to over 10 st during/ after chemo as I was in so many steroids and the only food I could tolerate without throwing up was starchy carbs and I was too unwell to exercise. But I did it and so will you!

purplegirl13 · 02/02/2022 21:36

Quick message to say eating is mixed, I'm no longer 'dry'. Had another first 'friend' date this eve. A couple of glasses of wine, and then I've come home via McDonald's. I'd forgotten how wine causes me to make unwise choices.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 02/02/2022 21:39

@MotherOfWhippets waves! That's hard that you put so much on with covid :( but when you're sick you just need to do whatever you need to do to get through it. The great thing is that you know how to lose weight now and know it can be done! You'll get back on track.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 02/02/2022 21:45

@purplegirl13 I hear ya, self control out the window after a few drinks. Well done on staying dry for so long though, I didn't manage too long 🥴

Not doing too badly here:

Had sweet potato, chicken breast cooked in Nandos sauce for dinner and some roasted peppers. Think I'm at about 1300 today.

morningmaeve · 03/02/2022 08:12

Hello and welcome @MotherOfWhippets - great to have you with us. Going okay here... not planning to be dry in Feb but will be aiming for the @purplegirl13 suggestion of a bottle of wine a week split over Fri/sat. I've been avoiding the treats so should maintain on Friday at the very least.

Knittingnanny2 · 03/02/2022 10:05

Welcome @MotherOfWhippets
I’ve managed first 2 days of 1000 calories all written in a real paper notebook! Feeling very virtuous and positive. I’m usually good at sticking to 1000 to kickstart again and can only see that Tuesday next week might be a bit tricky. 2 grandchildren coming for tea after school and have requested pizza......

Knittingnanny2 · 03/02/2022 10:06

Fortunately they have requested pepperoni asda ones which I don’t like, although I could devour a whole veggie one. I will just buy theirs and a spicy hot one for mrKN

WellTidy · 03/02/2022 10:38

Welcome Mother I put on weight with Covid too. I had raging hunger, but, apart from Haribo Tangfastics (!), I couldn’t taste. I was determined to try though, and ate masses trying.

The perils of daily weighing - I am 0.25lbbuo today, but still down 6.5lb overall since the start of the year.

Do you remember about this time last year someone posted a YouTube video of a really inspiring chap that explained why weight fluctuates? If this rings any bells, please could someone post it again? I found it really good at keeping me on track. I think salt was one of the things that makes bodies hang onto weight. I know I should t weigh daily, but I can’t stop, and it does keep me stay more on top of any gains. So I never have the bloody awful shocker of having gained 2lb over the course of a week which I then find demotivating and enough to make me stop trying.

Asda pizzas sound great! We are having pizza tonight. I make it from scratch so I can make a healthier version for myself. DH has All The Meat on his.

Knittingnanny2 · 03/02/2022 11:02

MrKN has all the spicy stuff plus the chilli oil!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 03/02/2022 11:43

That was me @WellTidy! I'll find it and share again, it's Jordan Syatt. I think he's great. I also put on weight with covid, it coincided with Christmas so just general overindulgence was to blame.

Also a daily weigher here and I'm down 3/4s a lb on yesterday but I think it's water weight because my thighs aren't as sore as they were. Managed not to eat anything after dinner last night which I was very pleased with, I ate a small mountain of sweet potato which filled me up nicely.

Pizza night in our house tomorrow night, my fav toppings are parma ham, mushroom and olives. I do like a spicy one every so often for a bit of variation, yum.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 03/02/2022 11:45

Linky to weight fluctuation video here:

WellTidy · 03/02/2022 17:44

Yea, that’s the one! Thank you for the video swimming, he is so good at explaining fluctuations and weight loss patterns. My quarter of a pound gain today has been put into perspective Smile

Morningmaeve · 04/02/2022 09:23

Hello all - weighing day for me and I've stayed exactly the same. 8stone 13.2lb. Went a bit mad with a bag of salted peanuts yesterday so can't complain that I have stayed the same... though maybe I'll pay for that on the scales in a few days.

WellTidy · 04/02/2022 09:50

I’m another quarter of a pound up. But I’m still coming in at under 1300 calls a day, and I’ve walked 20odd miles this week, so I’m feeling that I’m doing the right thing. Results will come if I keep going, I hope.

Pouring down with rain here today so I won’t be able to walk sign it getting drenched. I will do a few miles later if it eases at all.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/02/2022 10:30

No change for me since yesterday, still at 8st, 10.25lbs.

I'm doing well with my food and exercise just to keep at it and the consistency will pay off, as it will for you @WellTidy!

@Morningmaeve a slip up with nuts isn't the worst, at least they weren't coated in chocolate 😃

@SwimmingOnEggshells - I probably wouldn't have eaten them if they'd been covered in chocolate. Savoury stuff is much more tempting for me...

WellTidy · 04/02/2022 11:55

The sun has come out! After torrential rain earlier, I’ve got my trainers on and I am off out for a walk. Just a few miles for me today but better than than nothing at all.
