Hi all, I'm still around. Eating has been mixed this week as feeling under the weather. Days of not eating much, and some days I've eaten lots.
Lunch was a pot noodle type meal, with some dumplings to bulk it out. Dinner will be american style blueberry pancakes (my nephew is coming around as I've promised him 'breakfast')

Great job on those loses!

I'll catch up on posts over the weekend.

neverenoughchelseboots · 29/01/2022 08:02

So far this morning I have moisturised my neck and packed my faded knickers for a final wear on holiday. #Knittingnannylifeadvice Smile

WellTidy · 29/01/2022 09:00

never I find it hard to see changes in my body too. Neither DH nor I could see a difference when I lost a stone last year (from 11st to 10st) - what this says about each of us I don’t know! But I could definitely then see a big change between 10st and 9 and a half stone, so I’m sure you will start to see changes.

Enjoy your breakfast purple. We are big American pancake lovers here - blueberry or banana are favourites.

I am half a pound down today, to 9st 13lb.

Sooverthemill · 29/01/2022 09:03

I've fallen off the wagon but in fact my limited diet means I'm still under 9 stone. But as I'm doing the yoga with Adrienne 30 day challenge ( as usual) I'm very toned and not unhappy with it all. I know my tummy fat is here to stay unless I literally starve myself. Would like to be able to eat nicer food though!

Knittingnanny2 · 29/01/2022 10:29

@neverenoughchelseaboots haha! Well done. I’ve just done FaceTime with son no 1 in Singapore and made tentative plans to visit them in March so will be getting out the “ holiday old knickers”! Might give me an incentive to get back on the diet wagon so I don’t look like a sweaty giant in my sleeveless dresses next to my size 6 elegant daughter in law!

purplegirl13 · 30/01/2022 11:27

@Morningmaeve I have added slow cooker lasagne to try at some point. It looks as if it was the week for cooking lasagne Smile
Great news getting under the 9st mark! Go you!

I'm a big fan of my slow cooker and it's made much easier by by working from home as veggie meals don't need too long, I put them on in the afternoon when I have more energy. Send any veggie recipes my way

@neverenoughchelseaboots will you be working from home when you go back to work? Also, I can't believe you are going away, how EXCITING!
@WellTidy @neverenoughchelseboots well done on those losses.
@Sooverthemill is there a particular yoga challenge you'd recommend for me to start? or does it not really matter? How are you feeling? and DD?
@Knittingnanny2 a trip to look forward! Here's hoping you finally make it out there. How long has it been since you've seen them in person?

I must have missed the taking faded knickers away tip but I do the same with toiletries, when I get low on toothpaste and other stuff I throw them my 'holiday' drawer so I can take them with me and use them up when away.

Ok, I think I'm all caught up and haven't missed anyone.

I am feeling much better after a few days off sick and much more energised after some rest.

Today:
Cappuccino
L - spiced carrot & lentil soup
D - chilli paneer and rice
S - pineapple

Weight loss for Jan:
31/12 10st 4lbs
28/01 10st 1.8lbs

Knittingnanny2 · 30/01/2022 19:22

Haven’t seen son no 1 in Singapore since Christmas 2019 when they flew back for 2 weeks with 3 month old twins and an 18 month old! Haven’t seen son no 2 in New York since aug 2019
The booking procedure was horrendous and we lost the will to live after 4 hours! Hopefully son no 2 and children will be coming here in April as not sure I can face another booking flight palaver!
I’m not going to weigh before I go ( 6 weeks time) just be aware of whether or not my clothes are getting tight around the waist.

WellTidy · 31/01/2022 12:33

Glad you’re feeling better purple

That’s a long time not to have seen your family knitting. I live five hours’ drive from my parents, and they get itchy if it gets more than six weeks without a host. Well, my mum does. My dad seems to cope just fine!

I’ve gone up a pound over the weekend so I’m back to 10 stone. I stayed under 1300 calories each day but made poor choices each day and, crucially it seems, didn’t walk. So I’ve done 6 miles this morning and will aim to stay under 1150 calories today. I remember getting to around this stage last year and having to drop my calories down from 1300 to more like 1100 a day. It doesn’t help that my almond croissant addiction (370 calories!!) is still alive and kicking which takes a lot away from other meals.

WellTidy · 31/01/2022 12:33

host = visit, sorry

Foodielover · 31/01/2022 13:16

Hi everyone I've just joined has anyone got any tips on weight loss. Currently taking some weight loss tablet full of vitamins and eating as healthy as I can. With a little excise. Wanted to see what everyone else was doing?

WellTidy · 31/01/2022 14:09

Hello. I’m absolutely no expert - I am old fashioned in my approach and I count calories, record everything I eat in my fitness pal and don’t exclude anything from my diet. I just eat less of everything than I used to before I was trying to lose weight. And I walk.

Being a shortie means that my TDEE is very low, unfortunately.

Foodielover · 31/01/2022 14:47

Thanks for the message. I'm in the process of trying different tactics. I am quite lucky as I have some friends that are involved in heath and fitness just trying to find the right routine for myself as I can get carried away sometimes. Is there a particular diet anyone's tried and had success with?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 31/01/2022 14:55

Hi everyone, just catching up on your news and updates. Well done on the losses @neverenoughchelseaboots @WellTidy and @Morningmaeve. I was too scared to weigh last Friday but I did today and I'm back up 3lbs, argh. I'm doing ok not eating too much in the evenings and most nights I manage to resist snacks so that's a big positive in my book.

I have heard about the the holiday knickers one but I hadn't considered doing it for toiletries, I'm definitely going to give that a go @purplegirl13. I'm away for a two week all inclusive holiday in June so I've time to put away the ends of some bits and also to lose some weight!

I did a spin class today, hadn't done one since last week but for me exercise doesn't seem to cut the mustard for weight loss, I need to restrict calories, it's the only way for me unfortunately @Foodielover

I also tried to squeeze into a one piece swimsuit for the pool yesterday and I couldn't wear it because of my back fat - my kids were very frank in telling me it wasn't a good look!

Morningmaeve · 31/01/2022 15:04

Hello - I'm old school too and intermittently log what I eat on MFP and work on reducing portion size. I have also pretty much cut out snacking - aim for three meals with nothing in between. I think reducing carbs a bit (I LOVE carbs) has made a difference too but I haven't followed a specific diet.

Knittingnanny2 · 31/01/2022 16:13

I’m real old school!!!! I write with a pen in a notebook!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 31/01/2022 16:31

@foodielover I'm a big fan of Jordan Syatt, he's on instagram and youtube. He's all about consistency, eating healthily, not cutting out any major groups. Common sense really! I wish there was a magic bullet but there doesn't seem to be...

I think he puts me at about 1500 calories to lose weight.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 31/01/2022 16:32

@Knittingnanny2 I think I might give the notebook approach a go. I'm not great with online tools anymore so maybe I need to try something new to give me the kick I need.

Knittingnanny2 · 31/01/2022 18:02

I have a confession to make
3 nights ago I wrenched the tin away from mr knittingnanny as he was dithering over his choice of the evening 2 chocolates. I ate more , many more than 2. And the same last night and already today. I figured once they’ve gone that’s it. I don’t like any of the ones that are left so no more temptation for me. End of confession
Now to start my 6 week pre Singapore sleeveless summer dress diet

Knittingnanny2 · 31/01/2022 18:02

so not a bad day for me yesterday:

Breakfast: Latte and Porridge oats with yoghurt and some apple juice
Lunch crackers and spicy carrot dip
Dinner: Spaghetti bolognaise with a decent amount of meat sauce and less pasta than I normally have
Treat: 2 x freddo bars

I also did a spin class with some lunges and squats. I'm feeling the burn today!

How is everyone else doing? How are you getting on @purplegirl13

WellTidy · 01/02/2022 13:25

knitting we’ve all been there! Some of us more than others!!

I walked for 6 miles yesterday and have done 8 miles today. I have resettled at 9lb 13lb which is where I was last Friday, so I’m happy again. The walking is crucial for me. I think without it, I can come in at 1300 calories each day but I’d stay the same weight. The walking and 1300 calories is enough I think for me to lose at the moment.

I think I need new trainers though! I’ve walked through the tread too much on mine.
