@purplegirl13 I used nutracheck about 8 years ago and lost loads of weight with it, I must have another look.

Today has been a weird one so far for me. I stupidly mislaid my phone this morning so I spent the whole morning looking for it, I was in a complete flap! I eventually found it in my car, the Bluetooth was off so I didn't twig it could be in there because the car didn't pick it up. Anyway, between all of that I ate nothing, then went to the shops, bought almonds and ate about 100 of them....ooops. I don't want to know how many calories that is....good calories I suppose but still calorific! Then I'd hummus and crackers for lunch.

Dinner will be rice and pork stir fry

Morningmaeve · 21/01/2022 08:30

I might have to check out Nutracheck too as I've gained weight this week - so much for being dry! I know I've been eating more - bigger portions and treats and the scales tell the story. I've done no exercise beyond walking and yoga so I need to address that - and eat less! Happy Friday everyone Smile

Morningmaeve · 21/01/2022 08:32

9 stone 1.2lb for the record and l am away this weekend and eating out so that won't help!

purplegirl13 · 21/01/2022 08:38

0.8 gain so up to 10st2.4 but I'm about to start my period so the gain is expected (and I'm hoping it's not a result of last weekend's excess)

SwimmingOnEggshells · 21/01/2022 09:00

I'm down 2 lbs from 10 days ago which is good, according to my spreadsheet I was this weight last March. Now to not wreck it all this weekend...

I'm guilty of substituting treats for wine @Morningmaeve, it's like I have to be putting something into my mouth in the evenings? So bad!

WellTidy · 21/01/2022 12:09

Well done Swimming and, to everyone else, we must take the downs with the ups and just try and aim for more ups than downs!

I am a pound down to 10st 1lb which is miraculous as I had a five guys double burger last night. I’d not eaten much in the day, knowing that I was going, so I was still in defining by the end of the day and managed a 1 hour 30 minute walk too. It was amazing but obviously not a daily treat (ahem).

I think I remember from my weight loss at the start of last year that this is the week in my cycle when I tend to lose weight and next week is the week that I tend not to. I must remember this when I start going up and now down.

Have lovely weekends everyone. Planning a quiet one here, with plenty of tennis watching and ideally relaxing with the Dc.

purplegirl13 · 23/01/2022 13:31

@SwimmingOnEggshells do what I've done and start a new spreadsheet for this year. I'm trying not to get sucked into the fact I've regained and comparing where I was in Sept/Oct last year. Start afresh!

@WellTidy yes, it's important to remember the downward trend is what matters. I remember I gain before my period and then lose 1-2lbs afterwards.

@Morningmaeve do check out nutracheck as an alternative to MFP. I've got a couple of days left of my 7 days trial, but think am going to pay for it after. I managed to record 2 scoops of a coconut ice cream bought from a chinese supermarket - something I'd never have found on MFP.

Yesterday was ok, I tracked everything and ate about 1700 but I'm happy with that.

Today:
only a coffee so far as I've been busy catching up with friends via video/phone calls. I have a veggie lasagne cooking away in the oven for my lunch shortly.
Dinner tbc

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend

WellTidy · 23/01/2022 13:49

I am half a pound down overnight to 10st 0.5lb.

Given that last year was very much a year of two halves, when I lost 1st 9lb January to June and gained pretty much all of that back July to December, I’ve made a table of sorts. It’s not a spreadsheet (I am not at all techie), it’s a page in my notebook that has dates in the first colum, my weight in 2021 in the next column and my weight in 2022 in the third column, which I am filling up. Not every day or anything, sort of fortnightly.

It is helping me see where I am now compared to when I was focussed last year, and where I might be in say March or April or May if I stay focussed. We have a week in the sun booked for May and it would be absolutely amazing if I could be under 9 stone. Not because 9 stone is a magic number for me, but I would fit into so many of my summer holiday clothes which have been sitting here for so long.

I use MFP daily too, so I am intrigued by nutracheck. I’m finding MFP ok at the moment, probably because I am not eating much in the way of variety, but I will do a nutracheck trial if that changes.

My youngest has Covid so I’ve been at home with him for three days, no walking for me. Aiming to get five miles in tomorrow to give myself a fighting chance at a small loss this week.

neverenoughchelseboots · 24/01/2022 08:21

Thanks for asking after me @purplegirl13 I'm okay but just not in the zone at the moment.

I think life is still a bit too busy to be organised and when I try to be good, oh my word the hanger! I become absolutely livid with no warning and have to take myself off until some calories kick in.

I'm losing still but at a snails pace. But whilst I'm not gaining I'm going to give myself a few more weeks off.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/01/2022 16:20

hi everyone, how was the weekend? Mine was pretty abysmal food-wise. I stuffed so much chocolate, crisps and cheese in my mouth on both friday and saturday night. And so many carbs, so so so many carbs. Pathetic!

@WellTidy I like your notebook plan and @purplegirl13 for starting afresh, whatever it takes to keep us on the straight and narrow!

@neverenoughchelseaboots no doubt we'll all still be plodding away when you come back :)

WellTidy · 24/01/2022 17:09

I’m struggling too, as I’ve not been able to walk today and haven’t since Thursday (youngest has Covid so I need to be with him). I am unfortunately not of a mindset to put an exercise dvd on or get a Yoga May out, so I think my step count (if I were to track) would be in the low hundreds for four days. I am 400 calories from my ceiling already, and I haven’t even had dinner and I’m starving. Homemade pizza planned so I’m going to have to go easy. I will flavour mine with plenty of fresh basil and avoid all the meats that DH and DC1 love.

Somehow I stayed the same overnight, but expecting a gain tomorrow. Oh well, eh?!

purplegirl13 · 24/01/2022 19:01

@WellTidy I hope your son isn't feeling too unwell. Don't worry about the lack of movement, life gets in the way. You'll be back on track soon enough.

@SwimmingOnEggshells I briefly got out over the weekend and met a friend for brunch - poached eggs on toast with a side of baked beans. Meals taste so much better when I don't have to cook them..
Today is a new day, leave the weekend in the past.

@neverenoughchelseaboots ooh, don't get hangry. It's a horrible feeling. We'll definitely still be around when you come back to us Smile

I have a shiny new fitbit which I think might get me moving again, my first one stopped working in Oct. I put 5 large portions of veggie lasagne in the freezer for the days I can't be bothered to cook.

Today:
B - nothing
L - salad made with fridge leftovers, served with some halloumi
D - www.recipetineats.com/laksa-soup/ 900+ calories. Very tasty!
S - small bar of dark choc (and here's hoping I don't go back for the remaining 4!)

waves to @Knittingnanny2 and @Morningmaeve

Morningmaeve · 24/01/2022 19:52

Waves back! I made a veggie lasagna in my slow cooker today and it was very nice. Am still dry minus one slip-up. Must stop using biscuits as wine replacement though... easier said than done!

purplegirl13 · 24/01/2022 20:11

@morningmaeve I would never have thought about a cooking a lasagne in the slow cooker!
What was the slip up?

Last Jan instead of going dry, I would limit myself to a bottle of wine a week. Made me more mindful i.e did I really want to open the bottle on a random weds or wait until Friday eve? I could open whenever but once the bottle was finished, that was it for the week. Is this something that might work for you?

Morningmaeve · 24/01/2022 21:24

I would never have thought lasagna would work in the slow cooker but it does...not very cheesy though but that is probably a good thing if you are trying to lose a few pounds. My slip-up occurred when I went out for dinner and couldn't resist a couple of glasses of wine with it. One bottle a week sounds a good idea or maybe only drinking when I am out not at home - mulling over what the plan will be in Feb. I resisted the biscuits tonight so that's a small win!

Knittingnanny2 · 24/01/2022 21:43

Waves back to you all
I made a huge veggie lasagne today as well, but ate far too much. Then finished the chocolate fingers, but stayed away from the chocolate tin!
I’m a bit out of control at the moment so as well as “ it’s the weather” said Mrs May, it’s also
“ it’s all going wrong” said Barney ( number crew)

neverenoughchelseboots · 25/01/2022 07:50

Tell me more about this slow cooker veggie lasagne!

I'm planning meals I can prep in advance for when I go back to work next month so this sounds ideal. How long does it go in the slow cooker for?

I made this last night, it was the best thing I've made in ages. Highly recommend and must be healthy too. It has a tin of coconut milk but I reckon there's six portions overall and nothing else calorific in there, so probably very healthy. annajones.co.uk/recipe/baked-dhal-with-tamarind-glazed-sweet-potato

It did take longer in the oven than it said and with electric prices going up I thought I'd try it in the slow cooker too (but blanch the sweet potatoes first).

Morningmaeve · 25/01/2022 08:14

There you go! I used ordinary tomato paste as didn't have sun dried and half the amount of cheese. You prep ratatouille on hob then combine with other ingredients in slow cooker. Very easy - makes four portions in this house. Having leftovers heated up tonight. Maybe with some garlic bread Smile - not diet friendly but if I keep off the wine and biscuits I need some treats...

WellTidy · 26/01/2022 09:35

never that lentil and sweet potato recipe looks fantastic. I might give that a go. Did you serve it with anything please?

I am 10 stone exactly today so I’m happy. Still a long way to go but I’m going in the right direction. I did get to walk yesterday, only about 3 miles but I think it helped. Pasta for dinner tonight though.

neverenoughchelseboots · 26/01/2022 13:58

I did it with a pile of green beans and then I did broccoli the following night with the leftovers. Both were fine but green beans were particularly good.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/01/2022 15:11

@neverenoughchelseaboots I love Anna Jones' cooking! I have one of her books. She can do no wrong. But my kids won't eat it :( all I get is moans and 'it's too spiiiiiiicccccyyyyy'. They just want to eat beige food.

I'm also intrigued by the lasagne in a slow cooker, how is that possible?! I used my slow cooker yesterday actually, hadn't used it in ages because we've been working from home for so long. I just bunged in diced chicken, frozen cauliflower, frozen butternut squash, tin of coconut milk and a jar of patak's sauce. So so easy. But see above ^^ and my kids not eating spicy food: they had boiled eggs Hmm

I'm not doing great at the moment, chocolate keeps finding it's way into my mouth...and my jeans are very tight but I refuse to open the button. I know that if i succumb to leggings I'll never lose weight.

neverenoughchelseboots · 26/01/2022 15:49

That's interesting about the slow cooker curry. I'm getting a bit stressed about going back to work, doing two different nursery pick ups and getting dinner on the table so anything quick and easy is going on the list to try. Is it a normal sauce or a concentrate / paste sort of thing?

(That makes it sound like I've got a useless DH, I haven't - he does almost all the housework and the morning kids stuff. I've been on mumsnet too long that I need point that out!)

Morningmaeve · 28/01/2022 09:13

Happy Friday all. I'm a pound down! Going to celebrate by having pizza tonight 😂 seriously though going dry seems to be helping with weight loss now I've cut down on some on the biscuit replacement behaviour a bit. Aiming to continue with the booze cutdown in Feb. And maybe even do some exercise...
8 stone 13.2lb

WellTidy · 28/01/2022 09:49

Well done @Morningmaeve on the loss!

I am half a pound down and am now just under 10 stone. 9st 13.5lb. I feel so good about this and so motivated to keep going.

neverenoughchelseboots · 28/01/2022 09:56

Morning everyone. Nice to hear some positive results for motivation @WellTidy @Morningmaeve

Your post reads like mine life - a pound down, pizza for dinner and replacing booze with biscuits 👯‍♀️.

I'm actually 4.8lbs down for the month now I've looked, even though it feels like I'm doing badly.

You can't see it though. I'm taking pictures in my bra and pants at the start of the month and just done Feb's (because I'll be ON ACTUAL HOLIDAY! for the 1st) and there's no difference. If anything I look a bit bigger.
