My husband is now googling electric folding bikes for our 2022 exercise and “ country walks” as my knees can’t walk more than a couple of miles now.
I’ve told him to hurry up and finish the Christmas chocolate first!
Still not brace enough for a post Christmas weigh in yet
He’s still only eating 2 a night !

purplegirl13 · 18/01/2022 10:52

@Sooverthemill are you still attempting to follow fodmap?

@Knittingnanny2 well done for resisting the chcolate, you're a stronger woman than me

I need to admit I stayed on track until about 9:30pm yesterday when I baked some frozen rolls and ate them with boursin. I need to plan for a banana/easy snacks to reach for but really I think it's the lack of protein and too early a dinner which was my downfall last night.

Today
B - vanilla kefir drink
L - broccoli & stilton soup
D - stuffed pepper (filling will be a mish mash of veggie mince and any leftover veggies in fridge, topped with cheese)
S - apple with peanut butter

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/01/2022 11:40

@purplegirl13 will you not be very hungry only eating that? I'd be starving and then in binge-mode.

So I went back to a gym class today but arrived late and stayed at the back so I didn't have to interact with my instructor just yet...I'm nearly more embarrassed by the fact that other people saw him talking to me like that and I don't want people to think I'm a pushover...bit pathetic really!

Anyway, not a great food day for me yesterday:

Coffee
oats, apple juice and yogurt
large plate of pasta and meatballs
biscuit
freddo
iceburger ....eeek

Today the plan is
coffee
Superfood salad
same dinner but smaller portion and to try to stay away from the treats!

purplegirl13 · 18/01/2022 12:14

@SwimmingOnEggshells yes it doesn't sound like much but the broccoli & stilton soup is chunky (with pieces of potato) and fills a large bowl! I think I might have the last bread roll from the freezer with it so it's gone. Stuffed pepper for dinner will be served with quinoa. I'm going to boil up a couple of eggs if I need them them for a snack

I'm glad you went back to the class, and I completely get the embarrassment but you know you did nothing wrong; try and get back to your usual spot next time so it doesn't feel like you're hiding away in the back.

purplegirl13 · 18/01/2022 12:14

@SwimmingOnEggshells p.s what's an iceburger?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/01/2022 12:42

well it wasn't technically an iceberger but a lidl own-brand one, maybe you don't have them in the uk? They're delish!

www.hbicecream.ie/brands/local-favourites/ice-berger-.html

Morningmaeve · 18/01/2022 14:29

No I've never seen an iceberger in the UK! Day going okay here - been for a long walk and now eating my snack of choice - sour cream and onion popchips at a cost of 70 calories
B fried egg on toast
L soup and three oatcakes
D cod, boulangere potatoes and peas
Snacks - popchips, tiny bar of Green & Blacks chocolate

purplegirl13 · 18/01/2022 16:24

ooh they look good!

I got out walking today, just to the shops at lunchtime and then to collect something a local neighbour was giving away (some self-care cards which should come in handy).

I highly recommend the 'olio' app enough, great for a quick declutter and/or the opportunity to collect something that's looking for a new home. Tomorrow I may list the open bottle of Aldi's 'baileys' I have as I can't be trusted with it, and would prefer it went to someone instead of me pouring it down the sink.

The random self-care card I've just picked:
Plan something to look forward to

I think that means I should message a friend and invite myself around for the day/weekend

purplegirl13 · 18/01/2022 16:25

@Morningmaeve you can't just say soup....what kind of soup??

Morningmaeve · 18/01/2022 17:01

You are right of course @purplegirl13 Smile I didn't name it because it is what is known in my house as 'bottom of the fridge' soup - ie all the veg that's looking a bit sad and sorry for itself cooked with some spices, garlic and veg stock. In this case veg was celery, leek and broccoli and a couple of carrots.

WellTidy · 18/01/2022 17:41

I’ve never seen an iceberger in the Uk either, but as kids we would call that an ‘ice cream wafer sandwich’. I have fond memories of a friend’s grandma giving them to us. She would buy ice cream in a block and carve a slice of ice cream off. Haven’t seen that for a while!

Breakfast - Sourdough toast and butter
Lunch - disaster. Snickers bar.
Dinner - home made Wagamama chicken katsu (small portion, it is surprisingly calorific) rice and salad

SwimmingOnEggshells · 19/01/2022 09:04

Oh I had those too! yum @WellTidy icebergers are very similar but instead of wafer it's slightly chewy chocolately biscuit

So yesterday for me was:
Coffee x 2
Superfood salad
pasta and meatballs
freddo x 2 , mini packet buttons and the last iceberger....argh!
1 x 30 min spin class

That second last line was all in the evening, and keeps me out of a deficit. So annoying the way I sabotage a good day in about 3 minutes flat.

I love chicken katsu, I'm thinking of doing some chicken in panko breadcrumbs tonight actually.

WellTidy · 19/01/2022 09:38

I had such a shock when I look up the calorie content of the Wagamama adult portion of chicken katsu and rice. It is about 1,100 calories. Yikes. I follow their recipe but had maybe half.

I am making their ginger chicken udon tonight, which we all love, but it is much healthier.

I am easily tempted by freddos and the like too. Chocolate and sugary carbs too (like pastries) are my downfall. Ds took some multi-packs of chocolates into school to share with his class in celebration of his birthday last week. I bought too many so he brought some home. They are only a mouthful each but I can’t stop at one so I have to be strict with myself. Easier said than done!

I am down to 10st 2lb, which is 3.5lb off since the start of the year. Happy with that. Plan is to walk five miles this afternoon.

purplegirl13 · 19/01/2022 12:29

@Morningmaeve I really should make fridge soup more often instead of letting everything get mouldy and I have no choice to throw it out (I hate wasting food)

@WellTidy after reading your post, I immediately googled for the wagamama katsu recipe!
@SwimmingOnEggshells I had a binge again last night, I don't know when I'll learn I just can't moderate. I absolutely ate enough, wasn't hungry but the sweet stuff was 'there'

My own fault as I thought I could buy a multipack of crisps and I'd be able to ration myself (4 bags later Sad) and I also bought a pack of limited edition chocs that are my sisters favourite (3 chocs gone). The odd thing is I can go months without crisps and choc and never really crave them, but if they are within reach it's a blink and miss 'em situation!

So I have decided to focus on upping protein, limiting cheese and eating more japanese/thai/vietnamese which I find comforting and naturally limits my dairy intake.

Today:
B - nothing as feeling queasy due to acid reflux
L - I used the veggie mix from yesterday, and stir-fried it with a portion of cauliflower 'rice', mexican spices and some mozzarella. Very tasty and filling!
D - will be carrot/lentil soup with a bread roll

I am not going to worry about losing weight right now, but instead focus of eating nutritiously for the next couple of weeks.

WellTidy · 19/01/2022 12:58

Yay, I’ve done my five miles. Maybe more like six! And back before it started to rain - bonus Smile. I try not to eat my exercise ‘calories’ so if I stick to two ginger biscuits as my mid afternoon snack and then just the ginger chicken udon for dinner, I will be firmly in deficit.

I’ve menu planned for the week and we have all ingredients in, so I’m hoping I won’t be tempted by going into food shops.

Falling off the wagon is part and parcel isn’t it. Try not to be down about it @purplegirl13. Today is a new day and the day is young Smile

Knittingnanny2 · 19/01/2022 15:44

My husband has just been to watch Spider-Man at the cinema.
“ take some sweets with you” said knittingnannny2 as if she was sending her children off on an outing.
Just met up with him in the cafe. The film was 2 1/2 hours long. Guess how many sweets he took?

purplegirl13 · 19/01/2022 15:53

@Knittingnanny2 I think if we all came around to yours, the chocs would be gone within 5mins Smile

@WellTidy I think meal planning is key! I'm feeling ok about yesterday's choices, tbh I have to own it as feeling guilty/annoyed with myself won't get me anywhere.

I am feeling peckish so I just need to decide between greek yogurt with blackberries or a bowl of edamame. I still have 2 bags of crisps/2 chocs here and I just don't want them so hoping they survive until Friday when I can pass them along to my sister.

WellTidy · 19/01/2022 15:53

Four! I love the cinema. I will watch pretty much anything. Ds and I went to see the new Spider-Man film a few weeks ago. I’d never seen a marvel film but I thought it was really good!

I settle in with a latte, popcorn and a Diet Coke for when I’ve already drank my coffee but I’m ploughing through the popcorn but then get thirsty so I have some of my Diet Coke and then I’m less thirsty so I can have more popcorn and then am thirsty again so have more Diet Coke and then endlessly repeat the cycle!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 19/01/2022 15:59

@Knittingnanny2 he's really not helping you out, is he?! how selfish to only eat 4 Grin

You're all making me want to go to the cinema now, would Spiderman be too old for a 4 year old?

So far so good today:
Coffee x 2, beetroot salad, 3 ryvita with cream cheese and smoked salmon

I've also done a few squats and lunges when I get bored :)

Don't be hard on yourself @purplegirl13, we've all been there!!

purplegirl13 · 19/01/2022 16:06

I've not been to the cinema in 2 years. I might have to go and watch the new Spider-man film

@WellTidy I love Marvel/DC films! My snack of choice at the cinema is pck n' mix/ice cream, never popcorn, and I limit my fluids as otherwise I'll want to keep going to the toilet Something about being in a cinema/theatre/long car journey always makes me want to go.

I went with a snack of greek yoghurt/blueberries/honey and ground almonds. Hopefully it'll keep me going until dinner.

@SwimmingOnEggshells It's rated a 12 I think

WellTidy · 19/01/2022 16:13

Ooooh I’ve added beetroot to my shopping list for next week. I’d forgotten how much I liked it and how great it is when I’m trying to lose weight. Really tasty and livens up a boring salad. Many a chicken and beetroot salad will be had from the middle of next week onwards! Thanks!!

purplegirl13 · 19/01/2022 19:21

Also added beetroot to my shopping list

Sooverthemill · 20/01/2022 08:51

Hi everyone, sorry it's been a bit mad in our house. Very poorly DD means an exhausted mum! Yes I'm still kind of doing fodmap but if I add anything back in ( like peas) I'm I'll. so it's a very dull diet for me. Sad because it's our wedding anniversary on 30 January and usually our local restaurant does us a really good dinner ( they deliver it to us if we pre arrange) but I dare not. I would love a curry or even an Italian. Oh well

purplegirl13 · 20/01/2022 10:03

@Sooverthemill hopefully you're eating enough though to keep you going, especially if you're exhausted. I hope DD starts to feel a little better soon. Are you able to nap when she does?

I started a 7 day trial of Nutracheck which I'm already loving more than MFP (UK based and has pictures of all the food items which seems more user friendly for me)

Today:
B - Greek yogurt/blueberries/ ground almonds
L - Salad with a veggie burger/kiev (just need to go out and buy some beetroot)
D - same as yesterday's lunch (veggie mince cooked with cauliflower rice, mexican spices, and mozzarella)
S - edamame
