Happy Friday Smile 8 stone 13lb exactly today… still heading in the right direction though very slowly.

Sooverthemill · 19/11/2021 09:17

@neverenoughchelseaboots so you've had the baby?! How did I miss that? Congratulations and yes of course baby and breastfeeding comes first. I ate a bars bar a day for the first month. DD literally fed non stop for first month ( she was a premie). And DH fed me himself fork by fork as I couldn't put her down! That's amazing news to cheer my week

We have had a sh*t week. DHs step mother ( who I adore as do all the kids) has been life and death ill. She has been in hospital very unwell with sepsis since July and this week it all went very much worse. But she is off the ventilator and we can breathe. DH, DD1 and DS are going to visit her tomorrow ( one by one ) and we are hoping to see she is okay. I know the end is near but am praying she is okay. Poor DD is very upset as she hasn't seen her since 2015 and neither have I when MIL lost the ability to walk at all and couldn't no longer visit us ( she was a star and visited DD each time she was in hospital for longer than a week plus home visits and when DD was in a nursing home for months. She has always been lovely to me welcoming me as second wife to the family. Complicated family dynamics because of the divorce from DHs mum but the kids have only known her married to grandad who died in 2009. Our old dog is also very touch and go and ironically our previous dog died at about the same time as grandad did so that especially poignant.
So, we had fish and chips on Tuesday and I've been trying to be 'good' but failing!

Morningmaeve · 19/11/2021 09:49

Sorry you’ve had such a tough week @Sooverthemill. Hope the hospital visit brings some comfort. Have you had your baby @neverenoughchelseaboots? Congratulations!

purplegirl13 · 19/11/2021 12:47

@Morningmaeve well done!

@neverenoughchelseaboots Congratulations! Hope all went well in the end, what a lovely bit of news on this Friday! x

Oh @Sooverthemill all sounds like an exceptionally crappy week, but I do hope you do get a chance to visit her tomorrow. It is positive news that she is off the ventilator, and I hope that brings some comfort to you all. Is doing a video call to DD when you are at the hospital an option? Sending you good thoughts

I am 'failing' miserably, I just can't get my head in the game. So here I am, trying again. Lunch was a cheese & onion omelette with a couple of hash browns, and I've already drank about a litre of water - haven't been having enough recently. For transparency, I've had a bit of a 24hr binge going on so I need good, nutritious food right now. I'm craving it

Knittingnanny · 19/11/2021 14:44

Have we got a new baby on this thread?!!!! Congratulations xxxxx

Sooverthemill · 19/11/2021 16:03

@purplegirl13oh no it’s impossible to visit. The hospital is at least 2 hours away and I can’t leave DD for that long even if I could get a sitter. That’s why I’ve not seen her since 2015.

purplegirl13 · 19/11/2021 19:27

@Sooverthemill sorry I completely mis-read who was going to see her tomorrow, I did think you would need to be home with your DD.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 20/11/2021 01:05

Yes indeed, a boy. we're on day 4 and doing well.

He's very well behaved apart from he loves a cuddle so I'm not allowed to sleep it seems. So I'm getting through packs of biscuits through the night (which is especially naughty to admit on this particular thread) but I need something to keep me going. And those newbies cuddles won't last so I'll try my best to enjoy them while I can.

I really am looking forward to feeling lighter in my body though, I won't be in a fancy Jaegar dress any time soon but hopefully I'll get some energy and vigour back in the next few weeks.

So glad there's still some familiar names here, I really am glad to be back. x

@neverenoughchelseaboots I miss baby cuddles, I'm hoping friends have more babies but I think they are done for now. Absolutely enjoy them whilst you can.

I really need to get in the zone, so I'm off to the shops now to but some fruit and veg, and pull together a rough meal plan for the week which I am sure to ignore

My favorite cookbook is on offer, down to £7.50 in case anyone is interested
www.amazon.co.uk/Green-Roasting-Tin-Vegetarian-Dinners/dp/1910931896/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

There are a couple of others, down to £7.50 that I may buy for myself or suggest them as a Christmas present

There's a sweet desserts one which I had wanted but not sure I should buy that right now, and will save it for the birthday list next Summer.

Knittingnanny · 20/11/2021 10:14

Congratulations! I love newborns, my littlest grandchild is 15 months and it doesn’t seem 5 minutes since he was born ( in lockdown in the bathroom delivered by his auntie!) it was our childcare day yesterday and he has turned into a climber overnight so I think I used up quite a lot of calories!

Knittingnanny · 20/11/2021 10:16

@purplegirl13 that cookbook looks really good

purplegirl13 · 20/11/2021 15:45

@Knittingnanny I have treated myself to this one, even though I have no bbq but I don't think it'll matter

Sooverthemill · 26/11/2021 09:51

So I've had the most dreadful week with a massive flare up of all my symptoms of food intolerance. I feel so bad. I've tried to stick to healthy stuff but I'm considering the fodmap diet for a couple of weeks. Anyone tried it?

Morningmaeve · 26/11/2021 13:49

Hello @Sooverthemill - sorry to hear that. I haven’t heard of that diet but hope it helps if you try it. I am not feeling great either - only plus side is appetite is diminished. Might be mental rather than physical as I have been quite anxious lately.

Sooverthemill · 26/11/2021 20:14

Fodmap is a food elimination diet that removes food high ina type of carbohydrate that is known to cause gut issues. It's not a weight loss diet

purplegirl13 · 26/11/2021 20:42

@sooverthemill I've looked into fodmap before but have never given it a proper go, it's very restrictive if I recall correctly and before all my friends had babies/ moved away I was out for dinner at least a couple of nights a week. There's also the specific carbohydrate diet you might want to look into as well in case that suits your needs. I've forgotten the differences between them. I have a real interest in gut health as I've got IBD, and would like to ideally start following an anti- inflammatory diet.

@morningmaeve sorry to hear you're not having a good week, I've been feeling slightly anxious as well. I'm blaming the weather like @knittingnanny does

I'm away to stay with friends in Cambridge this weekend, and then back for a day before heading to stay with friends further North. So food choices might be less than ideal

Sooverthemill · 26/11/2021 20:52

@purplegirl13 yes it is restricted but you add in foods to see if you react. I've been in agony this week and my GP can offer no advice other than to take painkillers. I'm miserable as I thought cutting out lactose and gluten would fix it but it hasn't!

purplegirl13 · 26/11/2021 21:15

@sooverthemill sounds like it's definitely worth a try then to help ease symptoms, especially with a GP who can only offer up painkillers (!)

Knittingnanny · 26/11/2021 22:25

Definitely “ it’s the weather” today! I’ve eaten stodgy food all day

neverenoughchelseaboots · 30/11/2021 08:33

Just realised I didn't post my Friday weigh in - I'm out of practice.

I'm not going to log the 1stone 3lb loss since last week. (I mean wouldn't that be nice?! But it would massively skew my figures). So I'll start from now instead:

Starting weight- 10st 5.8lbs
Goal by 14th Feb - 9st 7lbs
Next goal - 9st

I'd love to get under 9 stone again (I managed 8st 10lbs at the start of last year) but I'm going to be realistic that my body may simply not be the same again after another baby and post 40.

Wow@neverenoughchelseaboots that’s amazing! I didn’t ever lose all of my baby weight after child number 3 in 1991!
My clothes still feel about the same and the tape measure says 29” still for my waist but I haven’t weighed for a few weeks. I’m going to be “ sensible December, enjoy a few days of whatever I like over Christmas and then weigh the second week of January
Hopefully will be able to travel in feb or March to see my boys in USA and Singapore so will need to be able to fit into sleeveless thin dresses for the Far East heat!

Morningmaeve · 03/12/2021 08:09

Hello all - weight steady here. I had my covid booster this week and felt okay compared to previous two jabs. A little tired and a sore arm for a day or so. @Knittingnanny I must measure my waist - I know from my clothes I’ve definitely lost inches which is good as I’m an apple shape. Hope you are feeling better @Sooverthemill. @neverenoughchelseaboots I am only just shifting the baby weight with last child born in 2000! Hello to @purplegirl13 - hope you had a good week

Sooverthemill · 03/12/2021 09:32

@Morningmaeve thank you. Yes I'm not too bad. Have lost a little weight and feel much better. On Tuesday I foolishly introduced a new food ( far too soon but my mindful chef box was ordered pre fodmap) and suffered the next day. So I think I'm gluten, lactose and legume intolerant ( which makes sense as I am actually allergic to mange tout and sugar snaps) which is sad as I love peanuts ( the food I added)
Had my booster Tuesday and felt a bit under the weather but fine

neverenoughchelseaboots · 03/12/2021 10:26

Morning, quick log for me:

Starting weight - 10st 5.8
Today - 10at 3.3

I'll be back to catch up on posts/ check in on Sunday. I've spent 1 night home in the last 8 days so I'll be glad for a night in my own bed soon. I need vegetables and a break from alcohol
