That gnocchi recipe looks lovely @purplegirl13 - my recipe is baking the gnocchi in the oven in a tomato sauce having roasted the butternut squash first and sautéed the shallots, leeks and mushrooms. Then whole lot plus broccoli and a bit of cheese baked under foil for half an hour.

purplegirl13 · 01/11/2021 16:39

@Morningmaeve for a recipe like that, I would smother in it cheese...

@Sooverthemill I am glad your DD and DH were able to do something nice together, and also that she was well enough to do so.

So far today:
2 cappuccinos with hazlenut syrup but now the milk is finished
greek yogurt, blackberries, honey & flaked almonds
halloumi salad (needed to use up the halloumi)

Less than 1l water so must drink more.

I've poured myself a glass of wine already. I've given up counting calories for the day.

Hoping @Knittingnanny is ok

Knittingnanny · 02/11/2021 08:22

Feeling much better today thank you all.
Getting back on track from today but not going to weigh for a week or so as I’ll be too despondent if I’ve gone up too much! My aim is to stay under 9 st forever!

Sooverthemill · 02/11/2021 08:28

Weigh in day for me and I'm 9 st 0.2 lbs! Yay that's so good. And it's not been tough at all just not snacking and having sensible portions.

purplegirl13 · 02/11/2021 08:43

@Knittingnanny I'm glad to hear you are feel better, and how is your DH doing?

@Sooverthemill well done! and pleased to hear it's not been too difficult.

I'll admit to feeling disheartened, why am I not 9st already??
Yesterday was a write off, I forgot I had a bag of sweets to give to my nephew over halloween, I ate them

B - greek yogurt, frozen cherries, flaked almonds/flaxseeds
L - salad with goats cheese
D - baked potato, cheese and beans
hopefully the last of the wine.

Knittingnanny · 02/11/2021 15:17

Dh much better too, we are sitting at the beach with a cup of tea ( and a very small piece of homemade flapjack. Which I’m not naming any more of!

Making not naming!

Sooverthemill · 04/11/2021 10:05

Just checking in. Still being sensible although was sorely tempted in the middle of the night when up with very poorly DD.

purplegirl13 · 04/11/2021 12:50

@Knittingnanny looks lovely! and now I want a flapjack...

@Sooverthemill well done for staying strong.

I have pretty much given up this week, I'm not sleeping well and even when I am sleeping I feel like I've had a couple of hours only. I bought a packet of biscuits and they're gone already, along with the pack I bought for my mum. I really do not know how to moderate, this is why I can't have sweet stuff in the house, or bread, or cheese...

It's diwali today, so I'm off to my mum's and will fully indulge in the indian sweets, I often only have them around diwali AND I don't bring any home with me.

I've got a friend coming to stay tomorrow night,, and I've not see her for 18 months. The plan is to hang out in our pajamas, only heading out for food. Turkish food tomorrow eve, and my favorite cafe for a veggie breakfast on Saturday morning. Will start afresh on Monday

Knittingnanny · 04/11/2021 14:51

@purplegirl13 same here I simply can not ration myself so it can’t be in the house.

Sooverthemill · 05/11/2021 08:49

One thing I do have is willpower! I cannot understand why DS and DH finish the bag of anything once they've opened it. I'm happy to have 3 crisps or a square of chocolate. I wonder sometimes about that.
Weighed myself today as I know lots of us in here do and I am below 9 st. 8:13.4 which is pretty good ( and I know it could just be a fluctuation but I am happy). Then I doesn't a good 5 minutes worrying about why I'm so f*cked up that being thin makes me happy....

Sooverthemill · 05/11/2021 08:50

Although I read an interview with Jennifer Anniston where she said she eats normal food ( yeah righ) like everyone else and if she wants 'chips' she opens the bag enjoys one and then throws the bag away. That is not normal

Morningmaeve · 05/11/2021 09:34

Snap @Sooverthemill! I too am 8st 13.4lb today - a slight increase on last week but it hasn’t been a good week so I can’t complain. My downfall is wine - I have pretty good willpower with anything else though I certainly wouldn’t have one ‘chip’ like Jennifer! An open bag is an empty bag…

Sooverthemill · 05/11/2021 09:52

@Morningmaeve ah I don't like the taste of alcohol really so it's not a problem. I know I sound very dull

purplegirl13 · 05/11/2021 12:54

@Sooverthemill I am in awe of your willpower, you fall into the group of people like @Knittingnanny's DH (who can take 6 months to eat a small box of chocs). I just seem to have no control and really would like to be able to self-regulate. I mean I obviously can with certain food items, so I must try harder in not giving into urges . Well done to you on your loss , and to you @Morningmaeve for staying under 9st

I'll admit to throwing 3 biscuits away earlier in the week, after inhaling a pack and also the pack I bought for my mum - I just wanted those 3 biscuits gone! I don't even like biscuits very much.

I'm 9st13.4, up from last week but I'm ok with that. I wasn't feeling well yesterday so didn't spend Diwali with family, but have had a food parcel dropped off. That's lunch sorted, and I'm saving all the sweets to share with my friend this eve.

I am going to write off this weekend, and hopefully find some renewed focus in time for next week.

Dancingonmoonlight · 05/11/2021 16:40

I’m back after completely falling off the wagon for a few weeks and now back on having consumed so many Halloween treats that my teeth actually hurt! I definitely don’t have your willpower Sooverthemill.
Weight today 9st 3pds.
Ideal weight 8st 7pds.
Realistic real weight 8st 10pds.
7 pounds to lose.
7 weeks to Christmas

Sooverthemill · 06/11/2021 07:38

It doesn't feel like willpower. I just don't want it. Now if you put a plate of cheese scones or samosas in front of me I would cave ( thank god I've never found an acceptable gluten free version)!

purplegirl13 · 07/11/2021 10:39

I'm back after a couple of days of excess, lots of Diwali sweets consumed.

My friend came to stay for the night, and it was the first time I'd seen her in person in just over 18 months. We were out for dinner on Friday, and brunch yesterday morning. A lot of wine was had and to help balance out the excess, there was a fair bit of walking done (and I maybe cancelled out a glass or two of wine)

I think I am going to try this week without calorie counting, I did not like the feeling of being restricted, so I will aim for sensible choices instead.

Brunch - 2 crumpets, scrambled eggs, half an avocado
D - jacket potato with beans
S - greek yogurt & raspberries
Lots of water

Knittingnanny · 07/11/2021 15:38

I’ve just bought a bargain black non stretchy dress reduced from£199 to £36 in the Jaeger outlet in m and s at gunwharf a size 10 with no stretch! So back to careful calorie counting and mindful eating for me if I want to wear it over Christmas!

purplegirl13 · 07/11/2021 18:09

@knittingnanny what a fab bargain!

Knittingnanny · 08/11/2021 00:16

Thank you, I’ve no idea where I’ll wear a silk velvet posh dress but I love it!

purplegirl13 · 08/11/2021 08:50

Morning All! Another Monday, and yet another fresh start for me. Much needed as I'm officially over 10st now.

B - greek yogurt & raspberries (no honey/flaked almonds as I would normally have)
L - homemade black bean soup, topped with half and avocado
D - cookpad.com/uk/recipes/9870055-leek-puy-lentil-gratin-with-feta-topping served with rocket salad

The recipe is from my most used cookbook www.amazon.co.uk/Green-Roasting-Tin-Vegetarian-Dinners/dp/1910931896?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

purplegirl13 · 08/11/2021 08:51
