Well done to everyone who has managed to lose weight and commiserations to everyone who is struggling x

Impossibly, I have lost weight this week - I’m sure it’s the recently-created muscle turning back to fat, as I have done zero exercise and have eaten and drunk like a pig (an alcoholic pig). However, I’ll accept it as a birthday present 😂 and the diet starts again on Monday. I might even get to help with the grape harvest at a local vineyard, which is really exciting and I’m guessing will involve hard work and limited opportunities for snacking!

Starting weight 62.6kg
Current weight 56.2kg
Loss for September: 1.4kg
Goal weight 50kg

Fish and chips on the beach sounds wonderful. Nothing to report here. Been fairly focused and weight is staying at around 8st 13.8. I’ve signed up for Sober October so that should push things in the right direction I hope.

Knittingnanny · 24/09/2021 11:22

@Morningmaeve, I’ve already eaten one of the 12 month plus fruity oat bars with my morning cup of tea whilst said 12 month plus is asleep! The problem with trying to eat mindfully when it’s a childcare day is the early start gives me far too many food hours! Breakfast at 7am wrecks the day for me unlike usual ( retired persons ) day is breakfast later about 10 or even 11 then I don’t eat til about 5 or 6. This is why it’s so hard to lose weight when you are actively parenting.
So I might as well right off today and have a proper sized fish and chips at the beach….
Also it’s my birthday on Sunday and we are going to a local tea shop for afternoon tea with the family. Followed no doubt by ice cream on the beach!
I’ll start again next week!

Knittingnanny · 24/09/2021 11:23

Write off that should be, embarrassing mistake from old teacher!

purplegirl13 · 24/09/2021 12:32

@Sooverthemill I'm so glad you got to have a have couple of glasses of champagne to celebrate DD's wedding! Sorry to hear about your DH but getting him on board with healthy eating will work in your favour.

It was a beginners yoga class and I struggled, I really must get better at not comparing myself to others in the class. I've signed up for a class on Sunday and Tuesday.

@DuPainDuVinDuFromage I am so glad you enjoyed your birthday week! Well done on losing weight under such challenging circumstances Smile

@Morningmaeve great to hear you're still under the pesky 9st mark

@Knittingnanny absolutely eat your fish and chips by the beach later, and do enjoy your birthday weekend!

I seem to have gained 3.2lb in a week, will weigh again tomorrow morning and use that reading.

I have struggled this week, lack of meal planning on my part and feeling horribly fatigued. Inhaling a loaf of tiger bread hasn't helped.

Today:
B - nothing
L - baked sweet potato with aubergine chilli (and the last of the cheddar)
D - tbc

Knittingnanny · 24/09/2021 18:10

@purplegirl13 well the day changed as nursery girl had to be picked up early feeling poorly so I’m shattered, then the road by the fish and chip shop was blocked with cars queuing for petrol! Changed the plan to Dominoes pizza at the beach which was even more calorific than the planned excesses!

purplegirl13 · 24/09/2021 20:56

@Knittingnanny well it is your birthday weekend after all!

Chinese food takeaway for my dinner this eve and one glass of wine. I need to try harder tomorrow, will do a meal plan and see if I can make some soup for the freezer over the weekend

Knittingnanny · 24/09/2021 23:16

@purplegirl13 thank you, well I suppose 65 is a fairly special birthday so I will recommence mindful eating next week.
Enjoy the weekend everyone and start planning your slimmer line Autumn wardrobe, the weather always changes after my birthday. When I was a little girl we always picked blackberries in the week between dads birthday 19 th and mine 26 th. If I left it that late now they’d all be gone. Not sure if that’s due to climate change or different parts of the country.

Dancingonmoonlight · 25/09/2021 10:58

Happy birthday knittinggranny.

Flying post. I had a bad week and even had a MCDonalds last night (which was awful).

Weight today 9st 2 pds. Stayed the same.

Sooverthemill · 25/09/2021 11:20

@Knittingnanny 65 is significant! I'm 63 and dreading 65 as my mum died a month after hers. Not rational at all! So I weighed myself again. Maybe my scales are wrong?!

Knittingnanny · 25/09/2021 13:31

So tea party is off as grandson 11 years has covid! So if we test negative me and DH going out for a meal instead
Yes 65 used to be more important in the past I think as it was retirement day!

Knittingnanny · 25/09/2021 13:32

Try the scales in a different place, always works for me!

Morningmaeve · 25/09/2021 15:54

Happy birthday @Knittingnanny - sorry your original plans have been ruined by covid but hope you have a lovely meal out. Flowers

Knittingnanny · 25/09/2021 16:13

It’s tomorrow but thank you in advance!
Looking forward to a portioned controlled tea in front of Strictly tonight

purplegirl13 · 26/09/2021 08:11

@knittingnanny wishing you a very happy birthday! Have a lovely dayCake

purplegirl13 · 27/09/2021 12:50

Happy Monday Ladies, it's a new week and yet another fresh start

My weekend eating wasn't great but could have been worse.

Today:
B - cappuccino with hazelnut syrup
L - salad with baked tofu pieces
Dinner will be dal, carrots stir-fried with indian spices, served with rice

@Knittingnanny I hope you had a lovely weekend x

Knittingnanny · 27/09/2021 16:23

Went for a nice meal at Gunwharf over the harbour from us and then ate a lot of chocolate ( that dh was told not to buy!) at home!
Back on track today and had a brisk walk along the windy Autumny seafront

Sooverthemill · 27/09/2021 18:15

@Knittingnanny are you in Portsmouth? Glad you had a lovely time

Knittingnanny · 27/09/2021 18:32

The other side of the harbour in Gosport

Sooverthemill · 27/09/2021 21:30

@Knittingnanny

The other side of the harbour in Gosport
Makes perfect sense. I grew up in Salisbury and my grandparents were IOW. My grandfather was a submariner. I love the area still.
Knittingnanny · 27/09/2021 22:08

Do you ever visit?

Sooverthemill · 28/09/2021 10:04

I used to. My mum died in 1996 and my dad in 2015. We have friends who live on IOW and we used to visit often, in fact the last ever weekend away was to see them bank holiday 2013 and DD woke up 3 days later like this. Severely ill and now she and I go nowhere except hospital. I miss the area very much. We considered moving down but fixed on Southwold instead when we did a move in 2016 which was suggested by our GP as she was in despair about the poor services we received where we then lived. She hoped we would have a fresh start for DDs healthcare which we kind of have and that the better air quality might improve some of her symptoms eg her very bad asthma and eczema which were exacerbated with her very severe ME. She arranged an NHS ambulance to take DD here on moving day. Local GP here is lovely but can do nothing. I like how quite it is where we live! I miss Salisbury with an ache and I miss the south coast massively. Salisbury cathedral too was a special place to me. I loved having the kids visit the area when they were little

Knittingnanny · 28/09/2021 13:43

Ah that’s so hard x We had panned our Suffolk trip for next week but don’t want to risk the petrol situation so staying put. I wish I could help you

Morningmaeve · 29/09/2021 09:11

I’d love to live by the sea - maybe one day. We are dropping son back to uni at weekend - 170 miles - so hope petrol situation a bit better by then. Week going well diet-wise here. No snacking!

Knittingnanny · 29/09/2021 10:03

@Morningmaeve I’m by the sea but not a seaside place if you see what I mean! I love it though and have no plans to move. Even when we holiday in the uk we usually go to the coast. Except London, I really really love visiting London, always something different to see.
Back on track after the weekend but have he knitting group at mine this afternoon so cake will be involved!
