Hi all, please may I join this thread?

I’m 5 foot and my weight’s gone up to 60kg Blush it’s definitely gone up quite a bit during lockdown.

Pre-2020, I was always around 50kg, and I’d love to get to 46-50kg.

I only fully clocked how much I’d gained when I struggled to do up a dress for my friend’s wedding recently. And a family member said recently that they thought I was getting a bit chubby - it was said in a well-meaning way, but it still stung!

Hoping to lose the weight by Christmas if possible or by my 30th birthday in Jan! Fingers crossed, anyway!

Dancingonmoonlight · 16/09/2021 01:13

Hi TwoShoess Welcome to the thread.
I’m also 60kg (I started trying to lose when I was approx 66kg). My weight loss is very slow.

Today I have eaten badly and as a result snacked on nuts tonight. I’m annoyed with myself. Going to bed late isn’t helping either but have had a bad week and not sleeping due to worry.

Morningmaeve · 16/09/2021 08:42

Welcome @TwoShoess I’m 5ft 3in and just under 9 stone now (whoop!) - sorry I am too old to do kg 😀 I was 10 stone 4lb when I joined the thread. I’d like to lose another 4lb or so but it is very slow work…I’ll be happy if I have maintained this week. I weigh on a Friday. I’ve mainly cut down portion size and carbs to lose weight. And cut out snacking. Tried to reduce wine consumption. Also use MFP to log calories. Not great at exercise but am making sporadic attempts at C25K.
B - porridge
L - falafel salad
D - asparagus risotto

PS sorry to hear you are having a bad week @Dancingonmoonlight

TwoShoess · 16/09/2021 10:02

Thanks Morning and Dancing! Sorry to hear about your week, Dancing :( onwards and upwards!! Sorry also that you’re not sleeping well - that’s always horrible and definitely is tricky to handle when dieting/changing to a new way of eating. Hope you’re able to get support for the worries you’re having and respite from them as well.

purplegirl13 · 16/09/2021 13:52

Will be back to catch up on posts later but quick update from me (to keep me accountable!)

I ate lightly yesterday to counter out a visit to the pub last night
B - greek yoghurt/blueberries
L - miso soup
D - halloumi burger and chips
2 glasses of prosecco

Today:
B - greek yogurt and blueberries
cappuccino with hazlenut syrup
No lunch as yet as the coffee has killed my appetite. I'm now in meetings for the rest of the day
Dinner will either be sweet potato with aubergine chilli (and cheese!) or scrambled eggs, feta, avocado etc

Dancingonmoonlight · 16/09/2021 21:26

I was wondering if anyone has seen this? It states for a 5ft 2 female, ideal weight is 50kg which is just over 7.5 stones.

I know body shape and frame determines weight but even taking this into account, this seems light? I’d have dismissed it but it is a NHS document.

Now I’m wondering if the target I had set (ideally 8.5st) is still overweight?
I’m definitely not aiming for 7st 5 either way but I guess I am wondering if I’m so used to seeing myself at a bigger size, do i now see this as normal when per this document, it is overweight?

Morningmaeve · 16/09/2021 22:49

It seems really light to me. I would be gaunt at that weight I am sure though I am mid 50s so surely that should be taken into account? I’d be delighted to get to 8stone 7lb but I can’t imagine I’d look good a stone lighter than that

Knittingnanny · 16/09/2021 23:30

My friend same age ( (64) and height (5’2”) has lost weight over the past 12 months due to a sudden out of the blue ending of her 42 year marriage. She has gone down to 7st 4 and looks emaciated and ill. It’s far too low a weight for anyone other than a teenager or young adult surely?

Dancingonmoonlight · 17/09/2021 00:20

I'm mid 40s and pre children, my weight was 9st but more muscle than the flab I now carry.....this must make a difference too?

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 17/09/2021 09:32

I’m 5’0 and I struggle to get down to 50kg (although I remember feeling fat at uni when I got up to 50kg…).

This week I’ve tried really hard - loads of exercise and I’ve eaten well except the times when I caved and ate crap (including yesterday afternoon - I was meant to be going on a school trip with DD’s class, it was cancelled and I ended up sitting on the sofa, watching Clueless and eating junk. Best afternoon in a long time 😄). I obviously need to be a lot stricter as I haven’t lost any weight:

Starting weight 62.6kg
Current weight 56.8kg
Loss for September: 0.8kg
Goal weight 50kg

I’ll try to convince myself it’s a combination of period bloat and conversion of fat to muscle…

My MIL is arriving today for 10 days and it’s my birthday week next week, so there will be no exercise and mountains of food and drink…I’ll try to keep portions small and healthy-ish (who am I kidding…)

purplegirl13 · 17/09/2021 13:17

@TwoShoess welcome

@Morningmaeve what was the result on the scales this morning?

@Dancingonmoonlight I am aiming for 8st7 which I think is a similar goal for many of us, but I am doing it small chunks and tbh will likely settle for 8st10 - 8st12 if I can get there!

@DuPainDuVinDuFromage do what you can over the next 10 days but honestly the trick really is just to get back to it, so if you relax for a bit - don't write it all off, start afresh after your MIL has left, and birthday celebrations are over. For the weeks around my birthday in June, with a few weekends away visiting friends I chose to focus on maintaining (specifically not gaining!) rather than losing.

I am very, very pleased to say I have lost 1lb! I'm 9st10 (which is essentially where I was in June/July but let's not worry about that)

Today:
B - kefir drink
L - HUGE greek salad
Dinner will be a takeaway and an evening spent with my nephew, I'll have a glass of wine as well

Good luck to those weighing in and @SwimmingOnEggshells
@BlodwinTheThird I hope you are both doing doing ok

@Sooverthemill a quick message to say I'm thinking of you and DD, and given your silence I am guessing things are difficult at the moment (more so than usual!)

Morningmaeve · 17/09/2021 13:38

Hello @purplegirl13 - well done on that loss! For me the scales said exactly the same as last week! Not complaining as that’s what usually happens for me…weeks at one weight then finally a small drop! So 8 stone 13.8lb. And @Sooverthemill - I am thinking of you too xx

purplegirl13 · 17/09/2021 13:44

@Morningmaeve how exciting to still be under 9st :)

Morningmaeve · 18/09/2021 08:55

It really is @purplegirl13!

Dancingonmoonlight · 18/09/2021 09:06

Good morning. I weighed today and am 9st 2.4 pounds (58kg) so a loss of 2 pounds. I didn't expect it as I ate a lot of empty calories yesterday but perhaps my metabolism needed that to shake it!

Well done Morningmaeve for seeing that 8 on the scales!!!!

Morningmaeve · 18/09/2021 10:23

Thanks @Dancingonmoonlight - won’t be long until you are seeing an 8 on the scales at the rate you are going!

Dancingonmoonlight · 18/09/2021 10:43

Morningmaeve Thank you.
From previous experience my body likes to settle at 9st 2pds. I’ve a small frame so this isn’t where I want it to settle!!! It will take a long time but I will keep going!
I was 9st 2pds when I met DH (13 years ago) so seeing that number on the scales has given me a little boost.

purplegirl13 · 18/09/2021 17:10

@Dancingonmoonlight the weight is falling off you!

purplegirl13 · 19/09/2021 10:58

I've fallen off the wagon - will try and get back on it tomorrow.

Finding it difficult to make sensible choices when I'm fatigued

Sooverthemill · 20/09/2021 12:47

Apologies all, it’s been full on with DH away although I have really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Eating healthier hasn’t quite happened but I also haven’t weighed myself. Hope you are all well DD hasn’t been great but we have had some nice times

Sooverthemill · 23/09/2021 10:49

OMG I weighed myself today! Not good. My plan for while DH is away didn't work at all. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and all that

purplegirl13 · 23/09/2021 13:01

@Sooverthemill I'm at least glad to hear you've enjoyed the peace and quite with DH, even if it has been full on for you.

I think I've gained at least 3lbs in the last week - I can't sop eating carbs. When will I learn I can't buy a loaf of bread without finishing half of it within a few hours?!

Although I am most proud of the fact I went to a yoga class last night and have signed up to more classes on Sunday and Tuesday

purplegirl13 · 23/09/2021 13:01

Am dreading weighing in tomorrow, but not enough to make 'better' food choices

Sooverthemill · 23/09/2021 13:19

@purplegirl13 I ate with DD a few times which meant that I ate things I wouldn't normally eat. Plus DD came down and got married ( her legal wedding) and I drank 2 glasses of champagne and ate crisps 2 days running. I don't quite understand how that's affected my weight but I'm sanguine about it. I will lose weight over the next month as DH wants a healthy eating plan now he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer ( really early, non aggressive, honestly nothing to really worry about). I LOVE yoga and do it daily even just 10 minutes if I'm pushed for time

Knittingnanny · 23/09/2021 22:54

@Sooverthemill hope your husband continues to do well, my husband had a biopsy for suspected prostate cancer but it came back today negative. They do say older men men do tend to die with it rather than of it.
Had considered a short Suffolk coast break but he is a bit concerned about the petrol situation so will stay local for the time being.
A childcare day tomorrow which always ends with a “ too tired to start dinner cooking after a day with a baby and toddler let’s have fish and chips at the beach” I’ve disciplined myself to have a small fish with a mini portion of chips
Haven’t weighed for a week or so but hopeful that I have t gone above about 8.10-12
