@DuPainDuVinDuFromage welcome. All of the items that make up your username are why I'm overweight Smile I'm also struggling to get into the zone so I'm not even going to try until next week, especially with a visit to see friends this weekend.

@Dancingonmoonlight I think I will have to admit defeat and get back to tracking calories from next week.

@Knittingnanny well done on resisting the cakes but nuts are a tricky one, I have to portion out 20-40g so I don't eat them by the handful!

As mentioned , I have really struggled this week to get on track and I start each day with the best of intentions (and then dive into ice cream) so I'm admitting defeat (for now). I will get back to it next week when I start my new job. I'm going to enjoy the next few days and act as if I were on holiday, especially as I've got a weekend by the seaside planned and I fully intend to partake in chips and fresh hot doughnuts.

Camrette · 27/08/2021 06:58

I’m very impressed by everyone who is managing to resist foods on offer, I’m really bad at this. As evidenced yesterday when I did a long decluttering job and ate biscuits and cake just because they were on offer. Then got home late and cooked a quick creamy pasta dish and had a glass of wine 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Oh well , today is another day.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 27/08/2021 07:39

@purplegirl13 me too, plus crisps, chocolate and pasta…

@camrette I’m the same…had a complete blowout yesterday, loads of wine, pizza, crisps, you name it…and today is my weekly weigh-in so it was particularly stupid.

I had been on course to lose some weight this week but last night more than reversed that:

Starting weight 62.6kg
Current weight 57.8kg
Loss for August: a gain of 0.5kg…
Goal weight 50kg

Morningmaeve · 27/08/2021 09:19

Hello all - I am not weighing this week as am away again involving extra treats and drinks. Planning to renew focus from 1st September.

purplegirl13 · 27/08/2021 10:31

@Camrette @DuPainDuVinDuFromage after giving myself 'permission' yesterday to eat whatever I wanted, I had a halloumi burger, and fries for lunch then lasgane and onion rings for dinner, plus ice cream and wine. Not to mention the 4 pack of bounty choc bars (I can't seem to moderate myself).

By the time I was in bed, I was wanting fruit and a salad!

@Morningmaeve enjoy the break!

I have gained again this week, so I will eat nutritiously for the next 2 days before I go to visit friends, and then I'll re-start on 1st Sept.

B - greek yogurt and blackberries
L - www.hellofresh.co.uk/recipes/pan-fried-halloumi-6023a3b751481655500b9a0a
D - tbc

Good luck to those weighing in today.

Dancingonmoonlight · 27/08/2021 14:33

I weighed this morning at 9st 7pds which is a loss of two pounds since last Friday.
I ate a lot of carbs yesterday in the restaurant and had wine but didn’t eat much before going there.

The weight should be coming off faster in the first few weeks of watching calories so it’s disappointing but at least I am eating a healthier diet which is better in the long run.

The thing I’m most annoyed with is letting myself get back to the weight I am after working hard two years ago getting it off.

I think I have to resign myself to never eating crisps and chocolate again. I don’t seem to have the ability to eat a small amount of them.

Camrette · 27/08/2021 15:20

@Dancingonmoonlight I’ve realised that I think “oh I can’t eat that, I can’t eat that, I can’t eat that”
Then I shove it in my mouth feeling guilty for eating it, then eat more because I barely tasted the first lot. I think I’d do better allowing myself to eat it in the first place then I might actually savour and enjoy it!

purplegirl13 · 27/08/2021 15:26

Well, my meal I made for lunch was for 2 people - I ate the whole thing!!

purplegirl13 · 27/08/2021 15:28

@Dancingonmoonlight a loss of 2lbs is great!

Knittingnanny · 27/08/2021 17:28

@Dancingonmoonlight that’s me exactly, it’s all or nothing . I’m resigned to no chocolate , crisps, cake on birthdays only and smaller portions of main meal forever if I want to be the weight I’m happiest at.
I’ve permanently machine altered a lot of my summer clothes this year so no going back

purplegirl13 · 27/08/2021 17:32

I didn't even last one day eating well, I've reached for the ice cream and finished it.... now feel sick

Urgh.... I'm really struggling to get in the zone!

Dancingonmoonlight · 27/08/2021 18:54

purplegirl13 I put it off for months - starting on a Monday and stopping by Tuesday.
Tbh it was a photograph that I saw of myself that actually shocked me into making changes.

My daughter was also talking about some of her friend’s mums and she casually mentioned I looked like one of them. The woman in question is quite a few stones overweight and I hate my daughter thinking I look like her.

purplegirl13 · 27/08/2021 19:26

@Dancingonmoonlight I've been on this thread since March and was so close to having lost a stone but now I've gained back a couple of lbs. I know this excess eating is because I've not been well and had been struggling to keep food down. Anti- nausea meds have done what they should so the gain isn't a surprise. I've also forgotten what 'normal' food looks like as I've had to eat a lot of white/ beige food for weeks because of this flare up. I flit between wanting to eat fruit and veg and then going back to my 'safe' white bread which then causes me to eat more of the same.

Having written this down I realise l hadn't actually acknowledged I've been a bit 'scared' to venture away from my beige food. Something to ponder on....

For now I'm having a glass of wine and will try for a fresh start tomorrow!

Dancingonmoonlight · 27/08/2021 19:31

purplegirl13 That sounds like you’ve been going through quite a bit! Don’t be so hard on yourself!!!’ You’e done it so know you can do it whenever you feel ready.

Knittingnanny · 30/08/2021 16:18

@purplegirl13 I’ve gone back to weighing snacks, sitting in the car at the seafront with our hot drinks and my teeny tiny portion of nuts!

Knittingnanny · 30/08/2021 16:21

Facing the bit where the weetabix submarine advert was filmed, did a short circular walk to add a few steps onto my count for today.
I’m losing hours of my day on my new digital piano revisiting all of the music I played as a child and teenager. At least when I’m doing that I’m not eating!

purplegirl13 · 31/08/2021 19:35

How's everyone getting on?

I'm back from visiting friends by the seaside. There's been takeaways, doughnuts, wine etc but renewed focus from tomorrow (again)

Dancingonmoonlight · 31/08/2021 20:58

Hi everyone, Knittingnanny your beach photo is lovely. purplegirl13 I’d love to eat that now! I’m down one pound since Saturday but the current one is proving hard and I’m hungry for high cal food.
I went into town today and I tried on a size down and it fitted. I don’t understand it because the scales aren’t moving but I seem to be size 10 now instead of size 12. But in hindsight I think the trousers were sized incorrectly or just big sizing.
I’m hungry and tired and am going to have some warm toast and a cup of tea.

Morningmaeve · 31/08/2021 21:08

Renewed focus from me too from tomorrow!

purplegirl13 · 31/08/2021 21:46

We've got this! I also start my new job tomorrow so a refresh on the healthy eating etc ties in nicely.

I'm planning an morning trip to the supermarket to get supplies.

Knittingnanny · 31/08/2021 23:07

So tomorrow Sept 1st marks the end of my weight loss year. I started at 10 st 3 lb, the heaviest I’ve ever been except for pregnancies. It’s been a long hard slow slog but I’ve reached a pre pregnancy ( 1981) weight of 8 st 9 lb. I initially wanted to lose a stone but kept going to get under 9 st so that I had some flexibility.
Don’t think I can lose any more so just going to work out a lifelong maintenance way of eating now that doesn’t feel too restrictive.
I’ll still post regularly but not expecting to report any more losses!

Dancingonmoonlight · 31/08/2021 23:08

purplegirl13 Best of luck with your new job. I hope it goes great!

Morningmaeve · 01/09/2021 07:46

Good luck with new job @purplegirl13. You are so my diet twin @Knittingnanny. I was 10st 4lb a year ago and am now around 9st. The aim is to get to 8st 10lb over next few months as loss is super slow now. I’ll be interested to hear about your maintenance plans.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 01/09/2021 12:23

Hi everyone, great to see so many names I recognise still on the thread :)

I'm think I'm finally back in the zone, kids are back at school and I can manage to stay away from food for most of the day. Current weight is 8'10, from a high of 9 stone 9. I got to a low of 8 stone 7.5lbs back in March but I seem to have settled here.

Current BMI is 23.8 but would love to get to 22 which means I need to lose another 5-7lbs.

My current plan is:

  • spinning 4 times a week,
  • no alcohol midweek
  • light lunches of salad or soup
  • minimal snacks and treats, particularly after dinner

The trouble with exercising is that it makes me hungry and I often think I can eat badly because I've exercising but I know that's a fallacy :-/

purplegirl13 · 01/09/2021 12:47

@Knittingnanny I'm pleased to hear you are enjoying your new digital piano! Definitely keep posting [smiling]

@Dancingonmoonlight good job on losing a lb!

@SwimmingOnEggshells lovely to see you back, I'm also back in the zone (I think)

Been a busy morning with new job and I'm taking a breather to have a lunch break now. I went to the supermarket early this morning and have supplies to keep me on track.

Current plan:
minimal processed food
ideally no snacks/'treats' unless fruit, definitely no ice cream
salads/soups for lunch
aiming for a walk before/after work - will investigate yoga/pilates classes nearby
increase daily water intake

Today:
B - nothing
L - salad with hummus, veggie 'kebab' pieces
D - tofu stirfry and rice
S - raspberries and greek yogurt

Good luck!!
