Happy June everyone. Here is the new thread. Not sure what my aims are this month, mainly to try and get on a more even keel. I'm up from the start of May 9st5.25 this morning. Hope everyone is still enjoying the good weather.

Oh sorry to hear that HB (Can I call you HB?!), lack of sleep is horrific. I was asleep last night before ten and woke before 7...highly unusual, I can't get enough these days. Not a good food day for me either unfortunately. Waaayyy too many biscuits with my DDad, who basically has more biscuits than a supermarket shelf, and it through off the three meal habit that works so well for me. They weren't even worth such an OD Sad Oh well, a day in the bin food wise, but I'll get back on it tomorrow. Ono in fridge, lunch packed and shepherd's pie defrosting. Feel like something decent now but can't put my finger on what..

MakkaPakkas · 08/06/2021 21:17

Final count is 16000 steps and 1200 calories.
Tomorrow I'm going out for dinner so expecting to go over on calories. It will be worth it though!

MakkaPakkas · 08/06/2021 21:21

Tiger rolls sound yum. I hope you enjoyed them and hope you get better sleep tonight badger. Teenagers are hard work 💐

TheHoneyBadger · 08/06/2021 21:30

Thank you. They were nice. I never usually eat bread so quite a novelty. Hope you enjoy your meal out Makka.

Yep HB is fine heygirl - never mind on the biscuit front. Tomorrow is another day.

I'm peckish and might just eat some prawns. Could do with the protein.

Cuzco · 08/06/2021 21:34

All this talk of biscuits reminded me I had one last free M&S cookie left!

How many calories would you reckon a medium sized portion of pub chips would be? I'm trying to guesstimate rather than not log anything.

NutellaEllaElla · 08/06/2021 21:39

Well, it was a full day but my first day in the new job was fine. I always take in baked goods on my first day in offices and did have a couple of pieces of that which in itself is fine. DH bought those Arrival cookies that have been target advertising at us online! We could only resist for so long. That took me over my goal but i'm still around 1500 so that's fine for today. I'll wrap them up and put them in the freezer so we don't have to rush them, I might even cut some in half as they're over 400 calories each which is hard to budget for me.

On the plus side, a dress I ordered from Boden is bloody gorgeous. You know one of those that is so flattering you just look and feel wonderful in it? And it has pockets Grin. I've never bought or even tried on anything from Boden before.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 08/06/2021 21:44

All sounds great Nutella. Would love to see the dress!!

NutellaEllaElla · 08/06/2021 22:15

Sure, it's this one

Ooh wow. Looks fab! Star

MakkaPakkas · 09/06/2021 06:56

The dress looks lovely. Good clothes do give you a boost don't they?
I'd guess pub chips at about 300-600 @Cuzco depending on how many there were
I'm very hungry this morning! Going to have some over night oats in an attempt at healthiness

NutellaEllaElla · 09/06/2021 07:56

A mini whoosh this morning and now I just have 1lb to go to be back to my maintenance weight. And to keep it there!

Octopus37 · 09/06/2021 07:59

Love the dress @NutellaEllaElla. Glad the first day in your new job went well. @TheHoneyBadger once again I feel your pain re teenage boys, the lemon cheesecake sounds lush though.

9st4.5 here today. Steps good, but I let myself down cause if I cant have dinner until late, I end up snacking on the worst things, its like I absolutely cannot wait. I know this sounds like complete lack of self control, but its one of the main thing about food restriction that I struggle with. I'm starting to wonder the solution is to eat a bit less for my lunch or maybe even try and hold off lunch until early/mid afternoon to see if it makes a difference. Yesterday, I had a subway for my lunch, with steak and cheese, had quite a few salad bits in it as well and the seeded bread. This was about 12.30 so too early, then I at four I ate some mini roll bites (5), collected the boys from football training and whilst I was cooking dinner (pasta), I ended up eating loads of crisps. Know how crap and ridiculous and obvious it sounds to say I should be planning ahead. I swear late afternoon/early evening is my hungriest time of the time, almost like witching hour.

Hooray @NutellaEllaElla great news!

@Octopus that sounds really like my scheduling. Although I used to snack at all times of the day, it's the late afternoon/early evening I'm finding hardest to resist. The best option I've found - which won't be possible once I go back to work - is to wait to eat breakfast until between 9-9.30 am (somehow with a cup of tea I manage to last that long!), don't eat lunch until at least 1pm, ideally 1.30 and then when I get hungry later afternoon, try and eat some veg sticks or similar rather than carbs snacks. It's hard though!

Same!! I try to save most of my calories for later in the day and make sure I have room for snacks from around 3pm. It can help to have some low calorie treats around if you know you're gonna do it anyway.

Octopus37 · 09/06/2021 11:53

Good suggestions, dont know why I've never managed to crack this. Even when dieting in my teens I used to find the same thing. Think I will try and start moving breakfast back and then lunch back to hopefully make it easier. Haven't quite managed that today, but have planned more. Had a cereal bar (196 cals), a Twirl Orange (230) and I have some sushi (215) which I will try and eat at around two and an apple (100), which I will try and eat at around 5. Even if I need another snack on top of the apple, its not the end of the world, for me its about trying to get control back. Also weighed myself in Boots to check that my home scales are accuate, luckily what I was in light clothes (9st6) was in with what I weighed first thing this morning (9sts4.5). Had convinced myself that my home scales could be weighing light for some reason.

Hi all, would love to join and have somewhere to be accountable. I started trying to lose 3 weeks ago, and today is my weigh in day.

I stated at 13st 3.5, at 5ft 4 that is pretty huge for me. I've never been so heavy in my life, but a combo of getting the mirena coil and then lockdown led to me gaining over 3 stone. I have lost 6.5lbs in the first 3 weeks, should have been more but included my birthday. I'm determined to get back to a healthy me.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 09/06/2021 12:29

Being aware of the trigger time is something at least. Mine is straight after work or if left alone Blush I do find hunger can set it off so planning helps me very much. My overdose of biscuits yesterday really showed how unsatisfying and unfilling they were, still woke up hungry this morning!! Back on track today.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 09/06/2021 12:34

Oh and water water water!

NutellaEllaElla · 09/06/2021 12:36

Welcome @LadyDanburysHat, that's amazing progress for 3 weeks, congratulations!

MakkaPakkas · 09/06/2021 16:42

That brill news Ella!
I find the same problem when eating late octopus. I'll be eating out tonight so I'm trying to plan around it by having a decent snack rather than just nibbling. I've had iced coffee and a banana to try to boost me through the afternoon boredom. It's clearly not working though as here I am on Mumsnet when I should be working!

MakkaPakkas · 09/06/2021 16:43

Hello @LadyDanburysHat 👋

NutellaEllaElla · 09/06/2021 16:46

If anyone has any advice about eating out I'm all ears. But I suspect that I don't want to hear it 😂. Any advice except having anything less than 3 courses or ordering salad please 👍😋

Octopus37 · 09/06/2021 17:44

@LadyDanburysHat that is a fantastic loss in six weeks, welcome.

OP posts:
LadyDanburysHat · 09/06/2021 18:07

Thank you for the welcome.

Not a great food day today. Feeling pre menstrual so fraving carbs and nothing appealed for lunch, so I had a bowl of bran flakes.

Hoping to do better with dinner

TheHoneyBadger · 09/06/2021 19:51

Scales were up by a silly amount this morning.

Today I fasted and worked all day then had steak, a few chunky oven chips and lots of veg for dinner. I know that isn't a 'light' meal but it's also my only meal bear in mind.

Nutella I'm glad first day went well - bringing baked goods is a a good move for first impressions I reckon Smile

Going to be really pissed off if scales are still saying crazy numbers tomorrow. I haven't been perfect with food but I've been really active for me, good sessions at the gym on Saturday and Tuesday and keeping busy and getting steps on the other days. Sometimes the scales seem completely disconnected to what I'm eating and doing.

Will end up having burnt over 2300cals today and have only eaten the meal outlined above but?? Will see what tomorrow brings.
